2. cult by lithium
   REVIEWED BY RUSTLER/TSR

3. the lithium cracks
   REVIEWED BY ERRATIC/PARALAX

okay here are the reviews for this month
they are SMASH and CULT from new zealand

SMASH/SYSTEM

i found the intro to be nice but they
need to do more work on it.

but one thing which is a pain in the
arse is having to reload the menu all
the time i think it would be a good,
thing if they changed this next issue.

i had a look at the chapters and read
them but i found a great lack of text,
but it is only the first issue maybe
next issue they will have a lot more.

i found the interview section quite,
interesting with some questions which
were different.
i think they done a fine job in this,
chapter.

as for the review chapter i found this,
very interesting also.

well for their first effort the magazine
was alright i hope thier next issue will
be a big improvement on this one.
it is good to see some productions from
new zealand.
i wish you all the best RUSTLER.

                               70/100

CULT/LITHIUM

the intro i like very much the graphics
by nighthawk were very good.
the spining disks were a nice touch.
all in all i think the intro was better,
than the magazine itself.

i went to the editorial first and all i
found was a page and a half of credits.
thats all that is not an editorial...

with my copy when i pressed the fire
button to return to menu all it did was
reload the chapter i was reading i dont
know if all copies of cult does this,
if they do it is very lame..

the chapters are very small they need
to put a fucking lot more text in these
chapters.

i found one chapter interesting and that
was the tech section i think this part
may help some people.

there was not enough addies to warrent 2
seperate chapters..

what happend to a review and interview
chapter????

i think lithium nz can do a lot better
than this i really hope the next issue
is a major improvement.

RUSTLER. 40/100

THE LITHIUM CRACKS
reviewed by erratic/paralax

PREAMBLE

i was at incubus's place to have a chip
put in my amiga and while i was there i
thought i would repay his kindness for
this and other help by doing a chapter
for the kicking mag, THE LINK

it also allows me to get in a bit
practise on the keyboard for the forth-
coming mag by paralax called +CLASSIC+.

i decided to take the latest of this
countries releases and do a review.

under the spotlight is the latest cracks
and logos by LITHIUM.

THE REVIEWS

on the disk i first found table tennis
manager.

upon loading an intro by deluxe appears.
it has a simple flash effect and a 1x1
scroller. there is no music in the
intro and it is of very poor quality.

when space is pressed and the game
depacks it suddenly all comes apart and
crashes.

i loaded and viewed the rest of the
cracks and the same simple intro appear-
ed (still without music) but the other
games worked.

the other games were snowman, world
rugby and g.s. international soccer.

in the notes cruze is credited as being
a cracker, whilst in the de-pack text to
the games it says fixed and packed by
cruze. this leads me to ask what was it
that he fixed and why are the wares
refered to as cracks.

also in the same notes cruze is credited
as being a coder. why, i ask, didn't he
code his own intros as do roadrunna/off
and quetzal/plx.

on the same disk released bt LITHIUM
there are three logos. one by DELUXE
and two by DECOY. all three were fine
logos and i look forward to seeing more
work by the upcoming graphicians.

to display the logos three seperate
files were used. each was the koala
shower program by NYARLATHOTEP/SUNRISE,
who, incidently, was not credited for
his work.

with the member-status in the notes on
the disk, i wonder why when there is
such a depth of coders, that LITHIUM
did not use there talents to display
the graphics.

IN SUMMATION

i have seen a disk that should never
have been released. the work was
sub-standard and poorly presented. the
cracks were not cracks at all and the
graphics, while very good, could have
been displayed far more competently.

the main reason for the releases were to
attempt to show that the group was still
alive and doing well.

the prognosis is: the group lives but is
a shadow of its former self when it was
pulsar.

it is one thing to create releases - its
another thing making them worth
release.

i would have prefered to have been able
to give a good review of this work but i
found that to be impossible. my intent-
ion was not to shoot lithium or cruze
down in flames - cruze seems to have
done that all by himself.

LAST WORD

paralax will release their new mag
called classic at the end of january.
get your votesheets from your nearest
paralax contact. sheets are also
available from rustler and uptonogood of
t.s.r.

i look forward to seeing you all in the
new year and wish you a merry christmas.
