Party Invitations

The Party 5 is over and new parties are being arran-
ged all over Europe. Normally Skyhigh bring the invi-
tations,(if there are any, that is!!), and guess what:
I have had the luck to lay my sweatty hand on 2 (two)
invitations for computer parties in the spring. The 1st
was brought as a small preview in the previous issue
of this magazine. I am naturally talking about the
SYMPOSIUM '96 in Germany. The second invitation is
from Norway, where you are invited to TG96 or maybe
better known as; The Gathering 1996.

I haven't recieved any information about the Tribute
so far, but I presume that the organizers of this
event will send me the material as soon as it is given
free for the masses (or rather a little before). This
was one for you Per - he he! As soon as I know some-
thing you will be the first ones to know.

Well, why don't we just jump right into it.

S Y M P O S I U M '96

WHAT?
-----
This invitation, which was taken from a flyer spread
on the Party 5, wants to tell you that there will be a
very delicious computer demo festival in 1996, invol-
ving all the platforms which are important in the
guild of demomakers namely:

Amiga, PC, C64, Archimedes and Atari ST/Falcon,

which you should consider twice at least if you can
afford to miss it...

WHO!!
----
This event is held by three of the most experienced
party organizers in Germany, the people behind the
680XX Convention, The Black Box Symposium and the
Fried Bits.
For the Symposium '96, which we plan to become the
best German party so far, these three teams fusioned
for not standing in competition to each other but
making everything together and better than ever! The
groups involved are : Polka Brothers, Lego Club,
Phantasm (for Amiga), Avena, Absence (for Atari) and
OXYRON (for C64)

WHEN?
-----
Eastern 1996, from April 5th (12.00 CET) to
April 8th (12.00 CET)
That covers 4 days of fun and experience!

WHERE!?
------
Facilities consists of a nice convention center called
"Burg Seevetal" and is located in the very near of
Hamburg, germany.

You can reach it via everything. If you're going to
come by train, you have to reach Hamburg Hauptbahn-
hof (main station) and take the S3 or S31 to Harburg,
where we will pick you up by the Symposium shuttle
service. Coming by plane, use the bus shuttle service
to the station Ohlsdorf, wait for the U1, get to Ham-
burg Hauptbahnhof and, again, take the S3/S31 to
reach Harburg. If you arrive by ship, then you'll have
to take the U3 at Landungsbruecken to reach the
Hauptbahnhof. If you come by spaceship, there is a
big area on the other side of the Symposium conven-
tion center; please try to land it there. In the case
you own a car you shoul take a look at the map. (Hmm
this will be quite difficult to do here, but I'll try to
write a few hints down. (Eventhough the card is very
cryptic to me!). Well I give it a try: BAB A 1 = Abfahrt
Hittfeld, direction : Veranstaltungszentrum. BAB A 7 =
Abfahrt Fleestedt, direction Hittfelder Landstrasse/
Veranstaltungszentrum.. - did that give any sence!!
Nah I thought so - bk!!)

COMPOS?
-------
Yes, a lot! Not only demo- and intro-competitions for
all the different computer systems and the usual
module-, multichannel- and Gfx-compos are included.
There will also be compos for video demos, a wild
compo, a coding compo (4k-intro), and so on. We will
even hold an Acorn-Archimedes/RISC-PC competition,
if there will be enough entries present. Or a Silicon
Graphics democompo, if more than one entry exists...
No limits!
The prices will entirely consist of sponsored stuff,
just like at the former Symposiums. For more detailed
info concerning them, or about conditions for the
competition entries, see CONTACT..

PLUS
----
a number of surprises like the prominent guests from
software houses and computer companies, quiz games,
nude girls (YES!!! - he he, bk!) and much more attrac-
tions.

T H E G A T H E R I N G 1996

INTRODUCTION

CRUSADERS Productions are BACK!!
And through the KANDU organization they are quite
determined to make the Gathering 1996 into something
different altogether.

We have heard you complaints about bad choice of
locations, loss of power, poor networking, expensive
entry fees, prizes that weren't paid until many months
after party and so forth...

AND WE CORRECTED THEM ALL (well, most of them any-
way). By using professional companies instead of do-
ing everything ourselves, everything you need for a
great party will be there.
IN TIME, IN PLACE and IN A WORKABLE ORDER.

Together with some of the largest companies around
we're going to make THE GATHERING 1996 more fun,
more nonstop action, more no-holds barred computer
action than any other party!

Just a pie in the sky? Read on...

RULES:
-----
General rules that really should be obvious...

Political, racist and religious activities will not be
tolerated. The organizers reserve EXCLUSIVE right to
determine what will be tolerated or not.

Commercial activity or trading will not be allowed
without prior written permission from the organizers.
(And a proper bribe of course).

Alcohol, drugs, firearms, projectile weapons, fire-
works and nuclear devices not intended for trans-
portation are not allowed inside or immediately out-
side the hall.

We will not be hel responsible for damaged or stolen
property.

Software piracy, hacking and illegal swapping will not
be tolerated. Hacking the network is probably fun, but
so is living the rest of your life without testicles!!!!
Remember!! Norwegians eat Rudolf's testicles for
X-mas.

Technical stuff

All electrical equipment must be properly put to-
gether following normal electrical regulations. Equip
ment not following this easy rule will not be allowed
to hook up to the power grid.

Microwaves, ovens, grills, toaters, refridgerators,
electric chairs and other equipment that may cause
electrical noise, power surges or electricutive ex-
periences will not be allowed inside the party hall!

The party network will be based upon a 100 Mbit back
bone. However, we will only be able to connect you to
it via standard 10 Mbit COAX BNC connections at each
table. IPX/SPX and IP protocols are the only proto-
cols supported.

ANY AND ALL network connections are to be made by
TECHNET crew personell. The only thing you should do
yourself is installing your own networkclient at your
workstation. The Tech Crew will provide assistance
for those of you who need it to get onto the network.

Tampering with the network or power system will not
be accepted!!! Time and technical restrictions makes
this a FRIENDSHIP rule!!

Last but not least.

Remember, this is only a preliminary invitation file,
and all information stated above may be subject to
change without notice. If you have any suggestions
or comments, please feel free to contact us at sta-
ted elsewhere in this document.

--------------------------------------------

Yep that's it for now. Only bad thing I can say about
these two events is, that they are running of stable
on almost the exact same time. A shame really. Now
they are kinda competitors. But hey, you can't win'em
all - can you!!!

I hope we will meet at one of the parties. I will see
to, that I get the money for a trip. So I guess all
there is to it is to say, c'ya!!
