Me and my big mouth - Legal Reviews

Welcome, dear audience to something Mad/Padua used
to host in SKYHIGH, but due to some lazyness from
his side and me being too friendly (HI,BK!), I will now
do this work, at least for this issue. Me, that's Cupid
once again, and I would prefer to do some splitted
reviews, like an other mag does, meaning the code
will be checked by a coder, the music my a musician
and I will take a closer look at the graphics, as I
will do now, too. So, if you are likely to do some re-
viewing, just get your ass up and subscribe to BK's
addy. This time I will just list up everything impor-
tant and give my gfx-review and general opinion in
the end.

Please do not get too angry, as this review will be a
bit shorter than usual, but I've been sleeping at my
girlie's the last few days, and now I am desperate to
get my texts to Jesper in time...

Now, you will hear my wise words about the following
releases from The Party 5:

DAWNFALL/OXYRON
DAWNFALL/OXYRON

RETROACTIVE/ANTIC
RETROACTIVE/ANTIC

MATHEMATICA/REFLEX
MATHEMATICA/REFLEX

It's the early bird, that catches the worm,so:

DAWNFALL/OXYRON

Responsible Guys are: Graham/Oxyron
Jeff/Camel£t
Biz Kid/Camel£t
Sire/Lego

The effects to be seen:

-Logoscroller/Zoomer
-Rotating/Zooming Chessboard
-3D Logo Z-axis rotator
-Plasma
-Rectangle rotator/stretcher
-Z-axis Rotating Upscroller
-Fractals+Upscroller

The Gfx in order of appearance:

Triangle, three coloured, obviously wired, could be
done better...
Big Oxyron logo by Biz Kid, one of his old ones, with
some new frame, like a moon and some mountains.
Another old BK logo for Oxyron, an ugly one, he ad-
mitted himself!
The big Amiga-wired rotating logo by Sire/Lego, a
nice one, indeed, some graffity style, but also some
normal shapes...

Overall P E R S O N A L impression.

I do like this demo a lot, as it does not use the ever
so unpleasant 4X4 pixel resolution (besides the plas-
ma), but a normal one, and that's something new!
Furthermore, most of the effects are new to me, and
the major part of the demo was finished at the par-
ty, for example BK's intro-logo. Graham surely proved
to be worth a lot more respect, than he gets to date
and the most surprising thing for me was, that this
demo takes only 140 Blocks!
Now, the odd thing about it is, that, as in "The mas-
que", Graham did not get support from his group-
celebrities like RRR or Fanta, but used works from
group-alien guys like his former m8 BK and Jeff...

RETROACTIVE/ANTIC

Those at fault:
Depeh,Creeper,Zyron

The effects:

- Loader Part (Bogus Internet entrance)
- Dancer-Animation 4X4 Resolutioned
- Doom Part (Joy controlled)
- Radar (Rotator/Twister/Morpher) 4X4-res.
- Colorcycler

The Artworx:
- Small Hires Antic logo, with some shadow-fx, typi-
cal Creeper style.
- Hires internet entrance screens and Windows
workbench, along with the windows intro screen,
really nice works.
- Pieces of older Creeper pictures in the last part,
like the ones for Prometheus Unbound/FHI, Arla/
Dual Crew, Dein Zycrex/Antic and a nonreleased
game by FLT, great works, indeed, but not new,
at least to me...

Overall:

A cool Antic demo once again, though no full one, as
it is more a two loader parts and two full parts de-
mo. But, as Dein Zycrex and The Cow it was finished
at the party and it's a lot of fun to watch all these
fake PC-thingies... The Doom part is lightsourced,
but confusing, due to the strange colours and the
animation only looks good from a distance. Worth to
copy for sure, it's nothing but phun...

MATHEMATICA/REFLEX

Responsible guys are: Quiss, Guru, Zorc, PVCF, PVT,
Felidae

The effects to kick ya:

- Klickload(!)
- Overlaying and zooming Balls/Circles
- FLD Stretcher
- Chessboard, OAR-ed by a scroller
- Flamer
- Rotator
- Twister
- Fractal
- 2x2 Screens Hires AGSP (or so...)
- Logo-part-Zoomer/Wrapper
- Doom Clone
- PI-part
- Interlaced, Mandelbrot-textured Cube
- Light sourced Torus (firstie?)
- Textured Torus-insight
- Textured tunnel
- Plasma
- Greetings part (Doom Clone with enemy!)

The Graphics in logical order:

Credits-interlace-logos in graffity style, just one
thing: pure excellence!
Mathematica-hires logo, decent and fitting.
Threecoloured Grafstyle Reflex logo, placed over
a fractal, nice shapes, but I dislike the colours...

Overall impression to me:

A fucking great demo, if not the best to date, but a
typical Quiss demo, meaning a string of Fx rather
than a film-like event... The effects all run smooth
and fast, the music fits perfectly and the demo
keeps on surprising you in its developing. The Doom-
Clone is for sure the best, as it has moving doors,
is fucking fast, shows some twisting and rotating
objects in it's walls and generally gives you some
real 3D-feeling... The torus-parts are the first on
this machine, as far as I know and really shocked
some PC-guys in the audience. The whole demo, how-
ever shows some arrogance, at least to me, pardon
me,if I am wrong, like they tell anybody to crack the
doomclone and link their intro, or the greetings are
fake ones... Whatever, get this demo immediately, it's
state-of-the-art coding!

Now,this concludes it all, sorry, if this all turned
out to be a bit rushed and imperfect, but de facto
I am no coder nor a musician, and I do not feel much
like giving you a "serious journalism" styled review
based on my limited insight in these fields...
Whatever, life goes on, and I gotta mail this to BK
now...
