Welcome to another scene related chapter in Skyhigh
This is not another serie for upcomming issues. This
is a one timer for my cool friends in Extend.

As many of you know, then Duce and Electric/Extend
made a cover and gfx competition for the scene.
A very nice move, indeed. Only bad thing,( if you can
call it a bad thing!!!) is that the compo results were
released with quite a delay. Some sceners have com-
plained about this in various magazines lately, but
anyway here it is.

Today I recieved the results directly from Duce. A
nice album with the 10 best placed participants in a
cool layout style. At the first glance it looks very
much like some of these underground-zines you can
get here and there. What really hit me was the super
great printing quality. It's very obviously that this is
not a 'simple' photocopy project. The people behind
the project has put a lot of work and effort in this
album. Different Scripts has been used, cool back-
ground illustrations has been created and put behind
the contributions. A pure and cool production..

My deepest respect to you two guys up north!!

ART COMPETITION RESULTS

At least this is ready.. the album that consists of the
13 best drawings that participated in our art compe-
tition. Because the deadline of the competition was
28.02.95 (hey that's my birthday - Bk!) and today it is
19.06.95 I guess we've to apologize you all who have
been waiting for the results and possibly the prizes,
WE'RE SORRY!
The reason for this huge delay (if you've earlier been
in touch with EXTEND-releases I think you've already
got used to delays...) is mainly that I (Electric) am in
army and Duce has been studying 'till these days.
Anyway I'm not going to waste space by writing use-
less explanations. I just hope that you understand...
About the competition itself, we are very satisfied
with the amount of 23 participants and the high qua-
lity of the drawings. There were too many good ones
to be dropped out, so we decided to get some extra
pages and print three more drawings than the pro-
mised ten. We noticed some light ripp offs from other
artists/comics, but each competitor got something
own so no-one got disqualified. Believe us, to judge
the top ten was really difficult, but as this is a com-
petition we had to do it. The competition was fair, so
no nagging 'bout that "The Finns got the top prizes,
naaah Electric and Duce are lousy cheaters!" will be
accepted! The participants that had to be dropped
out of this album were not bad either, so if you are
dissapointed that your cover disn't reach this album,
take it as a positive thing...
Practising makes you Goo-Od. We got quite nice prizes
for the winners by sharing the participation fees
(that almost had to be taken by using physical power
from some of you...grrr.) and the stuff that we had
bought ourselves. Because this project ate money we
are not going to organize another one too soon, but
as a challenge for other people, why wouldn't YOU
organize this kind of competition ? (<< hint 4 Neotec!).
This album can be bought by sending something nice
(porno/comics/trading cards/etc.) to the EXTEND HQ..
We'll now write something about the top 3 pictures, a
little critic from both of us.. so, this is all from us
this time, hopefully you'll hear from us soon in a form
of a demo or something..cu.

Flash Inc. - cover

* Duce : Well I think Junkie is a very talented person
and this cover is one of his masterpieces. He has used
different kind of techniques very skillfully and the
main idea is very good, but the only minus is the emp-
tiness of the background.

* Electric : Yes, Junkie made it again.. a beautifull,
exact and firm cover. His technique is really profes-
sional, what I would have made different is the quite
empty background but that's a matter of taste. Any-
way, a GOOD cover by one of the best cover designers
around, hope we'll see tons of more...

Angel -picture

* Duce : Another talented person. Suicidal's picture
"Angel" is like a cover from a Slayer-album. Angel is
a high detailed pencil drawing with nasty ideas. Flow-
ers in the hand make the picture very mean. The whole
picture is good, but something is missing.

* Electric : I really like Suicidal's art; he uses lot of
black and combines smooth and sharp lines softly.
The picture was originally a pen/pencil work and the
quality suffers a bit in the album, but it's still really
professional. Actually I think I see something Lobo-
like, but as a big Biz-fan myself I let it be. (Is he
talking about me when he says Biz fan - he he, BK!!).
Why do we see Suicidal in the charts so seldom?

Istari -cover.

* Duce : Well, Nazgul's picture is 'almost' skillfully
drawn, but something more wouldn't be bad. Well, in-
deed this pic is quite nice, and it's nice to see good
pictures outside Finland.

* Electric : This one is a positive surprise. A beautiful
cover that really w-o-r-k-s when you look at it. You
can see that he has used a lot of time by doing this.
Good constracts, a stabil cover. I really like this
one. Hopefully we'll see him in the charts soon. One
thing that makes this cover good, is that there's an
idea. I need more of his work....
