Mamba 25 ch05 The Interviews

  two more interviews...



  mamba: hye omg, how was your trip
         to the united states ???

  omg :  well, it was a bit short, so
         it appears to me as if it
         never happened.

  mamba: errr, aha!! thank you...

  first interview with just ice, known
  as a member of ikari..

 now we have an interview with that old
 timer just ice. we pulled him away
 from his busy schedule to give us a
 few words.

 - : just ice         < - mamba

 <: tell us something about yourself?

 -: i'm 22 years old and living in
    england. i'm 2 metres high & weigh
    14 stone (196 pounds) i am working
    in insurance and contribute some
    work to an amiga pd library.

 <: tell us all about your computer
    career? when you started cracking?
    when you quit?

 -: well, it mainly started in 1987. i
    was cracking for my own group 'faze
    7 crew!' my 1st crack was a game
    called livingstone. in october '87
    i joined ikari and rose to the top.
    only to quit in september 1990.

 <: from what you know of todays scene
    what do you think has changed since
    your days?

 -: the main noticeable change is the
    increase in groups! so many more
    than my time.obviously the standard
    of cracking has improved with the
    use of techniques such as i.f.f.l.
    etc.

 <: tell us what you think of the u.s.
    scene & just americans in general?

 -: as i have aired my views in the
    past. i wasn't a great admirer of
    the americans, especially when they
    would call you in the early part of
    the morning and hassle you over the
    phone to speed crack a game. it
    just wasn't on! now i don't have
    any contact with them. it's great!

 <: did you ever get troubled by the
    police?
 -: the police were never that bad in
    england, unless you sold software
    openly. i never had any problems.

 <: what do you do with your spare time
    now the 64 is behind you?

 -: well i don't spend an awful lot of
    time on computers, not like the old
    days. i still got a 64 and drive
    but hardly ever use it. i collect
    the good games on amiga together
    with all the demos.

 <: what are your favourites?

    food: curry, chinese.
    drink: beer, coke.
    movie: terminator 1+2,all elm st's.
    game:  hover bovver, hero.
    music: rap!, u2, techno etc.
    tv show: the bill.

 <: if you could start a group with
    anybody alive/dead what would the
    membership look like?

 -: just ice, bod, mister zeropage,
    jeff smart, janitor, mr pinge,
    weetibix/ex.scg, mr cursor, m.o.n.,
    mitch/esi, doc/legend.

 <: who are/were your best friends and
    contacts from the scene?
 -: my best friends from the scene were

    bod and xxx of talent.
    nik, fletch, doc, excell, gandalf
    all ex. ikari.
    jeff smart, strider/flt, the guys
    in commando frontier. tkay/triad,
    beastie boys and dcs/scg.

 <: what do you hope for in the future?

 -: the future! well i want my own
    place to live, still having enough
    money to buy what i like. to see
    southend united in the 1st division
    and to see west ham utd win the
    league title.
 <: if you could change one thing in
    this world what would it be?

 -: i would make sure all the suffering
    in the less fortunate third world
    countries would cease.

 <: tell me the first thing that comes
    into your mind after hearing the
    following words:-

    ikari: the best group ever formed.

    americans: ?!? slime! no? grrrr? at
               least they speak english

    amiga: great machine at the mo.
    demos: best things ever created.

    hussain: murdering facsist bastard.

    talent: who? no, englands no.1

    mamba: coolest mag i seen yet apart
           from the old illegal.

    england: there's no place like it.

 <: if you were the only survivor of a
    nuclear holocaust and you could
    wish for 3 things what would they
    be?

 -: 1) to have the most beautiful girl
    in the world.
    2) fastest and most expensive car
    in the world.
    3) a chance for 3 more wishes!

 <: any last words?

 -: fuck ya all! no, keep cracking and
    fuck up the software houses.

 > : tell us something about yourself!

 j : my name is john. i am about 6'1".
  i weigh about 200 pounds. i have a
  strange haircut. it used to be long,
  but then i got it cut. like a skater-
  haircut. it is shaved all the way
  around except for the very top, where
  it is long. i usually have it in a
  pony but when it's out, it just hangs
  down and you cannot tell my head is
  shaved! hahaha





 > : tell us about your computer career

 j : i started out 4 or so years ago as
  a local lamer, as most people
  probably do. the first board i ever
  called was garden of eden hq. the
  first group i got in was called mod.
  then after that, i joined verdict for
  a while. but i sucked at getting
  cards, so i left verdict. then i got
  more into the american hack & phreak
  scene and put up a board called the
  soul pit. after it was up for about
  a year it became attacker hq, and i
  was in attacker. it also became the


  the #1 h/p board in the country.
  (or in the world..)

  but then i gave my board to a local
  friend and attacker broke up. so i
  concentrated on finding a group for
  south of heaven. (x-verdict hq) that
  is when i ran across murdock and
  grim reaper. they picked up south of
  heaven as nei hq and i joined nei as
  the card hacker. and now, attacker
  has reformed with hurricane, space
  ace, and i. so i am also in attacker.
  i am thinking of putting up a board
  again.


 > : tell what you think the
     significant changes in the scene
     have been over the past year ?

 j : in the past year, i think the most
  significant changes have been
  1) the huge reformation of talent.
  2) nei letting me in their group!
    now their worries are over! ahahaha

 > : have you ever been in trouble with
     the police ?





 j : yep, i have been arrested before
  for possession of a deadly weapon,
  assault, and attempted murder!
  i got mad at someone before because
  he beat me up. (he was a football
  player and two times my size!) so i
  tried to kill the fucker!

 > : what do you do in your spare time?

 j : well, as of 2/4/92 i have been
  fired from my job. i didn't have much
  spare time until now! but i hate
  being unemployed. so i will get
  another job and have no spare time
  again.

  but right now, i work with a heavy-
  metal-band, soul pit (which the bbs
  is named after). i manage them,
  setting up shows, and the like !!

 > : what do you think of europeans
     compared to americans ?

 j : europeans are at&t grubbing idiots
  ahah just kidding. i think that
  without the europeans, the american
  scene would probably be strictly
  hack/phreak. that is because american
  releases are so scarce, it is
  sickening. all major software


  companies, that used to produce c64
  games have abandoned it. companies
  like epyx, ssi and microprose etc!
  it is a shame. americans seem to be
  more hack/phreak orientated nowadays
  except for the handfull left in
  importing groups like nei, and tsm.

 > : what are your favourites ?

 j : food: pizza and french fries
     drink: budweiser (ed. with 'ei'!)
     movie: terminator i
     game: supercars and 4th & inches
     music: thrash, death metal etc
     woman: cindy crawford, traci lords

 > : using only three words, how would
     you describe yourself ?

 j : three descriptive words ?
    psychotic, temperamental and
    obnoxious! your mother's dream
    boy friend for her daughter.

 > : who are your best friends/contacts
     in the scene ?

 j : i would say my best friends/cont.
  are: grim reaper, horizon, razor
  blade, apocalypse (an amiga dude),
  bod, skater, druid, narc and that
  guy sodapop! haha

 > : do you have any enemies in the
     scene ?

 j : yes, i would consider my enemies
     thor and roy.

 > : what do you hope for in the future

 j : i really can't elaborate on what
  i hope for the future for everyone.
  all i can think about is what i hope
  for myself. all i want for the future
  is to have a pleasant good paying
  job and a nice girl on my side.



  oh, and a nice guitar to fuck with.

 > : if you could change one thing in
     this world, what would that be ?

 j : i will sound like a sap and say
  that if i could change anything, i
  would change the hunger and
  starvation in the world. but i would
  not want to become deeply involved.
  i would just want it changed.




 > : if you could start a new group
     with anybody you want, alive or
     dead, what would the member status
     of your group look like ?

 j : hmmm that is a good question. i
  would like to start a group with:
  flatliner, illusionist, grim reaper,
  horizon, streetkiller and gotcha.
  that group would have the best game-
  intros with the best graphics, as
  well as have the best fixes! and with
  flatliner and illusionist and i, it
  would never run out of at&t's!



 > : you are the only survivor of the
     nuclear holocoust and you have
     been granted three wishes, what
     would they be ?

 j: my three wishes would most likely
    be:
  1) that the nuclear war would have
  and would never happen.
  2) that after the first wish, i win
  the lottery for $200 million.
  3) that i again win the lottery for
  $ 500 million, if you have that much
  money, you need no more wishes.



 > : any last words to the readers ?

 j : well, my last words are that i
  would like to greet all the nei guys,
  bod, skater, krs, druid, sodapop,
  psycho, pudwerx and razor. i would
  also like to see less warring and
  bitching going on. but i guess that
  is what makes the commodore scene
  what is is!
