As schedualed, we return to bring you the most popular source
for news and entertainment, THE PULSE MAGAZINE, released
by REGINA in the beginning of December.
Now we have finally reached December, and The PARTY of 1993
is not far away. Be sure to meet us there, and grab our world
special of the NEW YEARS EDITION. Stay with us!

Comments from the General Editor, 04/12-1993
Welcome to the 6th edition of THE PULSE MAGAZINE. We are
happy to still be around, and we are looking forward to the
next 6 months. It remains a challenge to stay on top, and we
think we have proven to the scene during our existance, that
we are worthy of the attension that the majority of the sce-
ners has given us.
Unfortunately one competitor seems to be of another opinion.
I have written a 9 page letter to the PROPAGANDA editors,
with comments for some of the sceners that has been talking
very bad about The PULSE, and me on the US boards. You will
be able to read that letter in the end of this chapter.
Concerning the chapters we have for you this month, I am for-
ced to let the demo-lovers down, by announcing that World of
Demos and Trick Tutoring has been cancelled this month.
WORLD OF DEMOS was cancelled because of the low amount of
demos released in November, partly because most of the demo-
groups will wait, and release their demos at the Christmas
parties around europe. Packed issue next month then!
TRICK TUTORING was also cancelled, not due to the lack of
inspiration though, but due to STEVE's drive, that has been
bothering him for quite a while. But we are hoping that it will
get fixed in time for the next edition, which will be released
at the CAMELOT party as schedualed.
But other than that, we have a full program for you this month.
There will be a lot of text for everybody to read, and do not
think we are holding out on you, just because we have a major
issue coming out at the party. About the party, we can inform
you that most of the editors of The PULSE will be stationed
there, and you are of course free to meet up with us, and give
us your contribution of news, stories, addresses, etc.
We also have a brand new outfit in the making, and this outfit
should be an easier job for the American fixers, so that the
overseas sceners will have something decent to read aswell.

The usual report about the world of boards by your usual host
CROSSFIRE of EPIC. This month he wanted to present you with
a presentation of CHAOTIC FACTOR, but due to some unfortu-
nate problems, that report was left out. But he does have a
very interesting report about certain hacker, that has spend
some time trying to formate the leading Danish boards. Read to
find out about this scandal.

This is our satiric chapter, that will take you behind the cur-
tains of the famous and poor sceners, that makes the week-
days a little bit more interesting for the rest of us. Remark
that this chapter is written in a satiric method, and should
therefore not be taken serious. Eventhough some sceners do!

This month our profile is a well-known swapper, that has made
a name of himself writing probably the best magazine in the
Australian scene. Read Profile, and find out who our guest is!

This month we have invited DISHY of VISION to discuss the bad
start VISION had in the eyes of the puplic. We will also debate
the sovereign elite, which will probably be discussed further
in the coming months. Remember that you can write to us, and

As always we have a lot of addresses available for you in our

Now follows our special letter for PROPAGANDA among others..
Dear PROPAGANDA editorial,
Reading through your usual short and rather boring magazine,
I noticed how you have dedicated most of the chapters, pulling
off two bit lamer rags, in your attempt to make me and REGINA
look bad. Unfortunately for you, I am sure that the majority of
the sceners will take note of this, and think twice before rea-
ding another edition of your pathetic and subjective mag.
Not only was it short, it was also bugged, which is another
proof of your incompetence, and the disgrace your are putting
the once proud label GENESIS PROJECT through.
But you did manage to put PROPAGANDA out, even though it
was 15 days late, filled with bugs and lack of proper text.
I find it hard to believe how you could be ANY competition for
us these days. I am a steady swapper, and the majority of my
contacts (95%), is of the firm belief that THE PULSE is far
better than PROPAGANDA. "Boring", "Short", "Delayed" are
comments that circle around PROPAGANDA these days. Yet you
claim that I should be afraid of your presence, even though
the people that know me best, know that I fear noone, much
less someone far beneath me, like you.
But I will answer your questions and accusations, like I have
always done for my vague competitors.
Therefore I will round up my comments for the following editors
of PROPAGANDA..
Newscopy, like I wrote in the last edition of The PULSE, I am
of the belief that the current GENESIS PROJECT is far more
fake than VISION. The reason for this, is your neverending
incompetence. I am sure that the old GENESIS PROJECT would
not release a non-working version of PROPAGANDA, much less
recruit a cracker whom you claimed you did not know anything
about. How lame! In addition to that, you tried to buy RAY and
SATAN, offering them modems for their services. You may call
this what you want, but fact remains, you tried to buy members.
And now to something different. I did write to WALKER, telling
him my opinion about how JUCKE was behaving. To begin with I
had nothing against you, so I just wrote what I thought about
JUCKE. But how in the world could this be back-stabbing, when
I already wrote openly about my opinions in The PULSE?
JUCKE, JUCKE, JUCKE, when are you going to learn? But I
should have known, you are nothing but a dumb rookie trying
to play hard-ball on the boards, whining about how much you
hate me, and would crush me if you had the honour. Oh boy, how
pathetic of you. Trying to convince your friends that you are
a "ragger" capable of winning wars, even though you haven't
even proven yourself yet. I have a past at crushing the big
names, all you have, is a past of making a fool out of yourself
on the boards. I am surprised why the sysops even bother let-
ting you on. But I guess you pay them too, the same way you
did with RAY and SATAN, and who knows, maybe a dusin other
GENESIS PROJECT members. So don't get smart with me wanna-
be, you haven't got the name, experience or the group to back
it up with. Now go and cry on your mothers shoulder beginner!
MAJESTY, you have really proven to be a big disappointment
to me. For what reason you may have had for writing such lame
bullshit about me and The PULSE, remains strange to me. But
I will teach you the difference between a magazine delayed,
and one NOT delayed. PROPAGANDA is the perfect example of
a mag delayed, while THE PULSE MAGAZINE remains the ideal
example of a magazine ON time, and always up to date with the
global happenings. But I am not shocked to see this come from
you, I know how people change when they want to set a good
example to the scene, and when you want to show everybody
that you dare write something about me. We used to be friends,
I still remember when you first started calling out, when NARC
was making so much fun of you, that I had to move in and crush
him for you. But hey, feel free to keep on and copy my methods!
...So to conclude my current opinion about PROPAGANDA aswell
as GENESIS PROJECT, I feel that we MAY have gotten off on
the wrong foot. Atleast I am not game when it comes to writing
lies and false statements (such as the one MAJESTY wrote-
that The PULSE should have been delayed!?!). I prefer to stick
with the truth aswell as the facts, instead of making up stupid
accusations like I have vitnessed from the PROPAGANDA crew.
But as NEWSCOPY wrote, we should let the sceners decide
which mag is the leading one at the moment. But I am sure, that
once they have made their choice, NEWSCOPY would back out
on his statements, and continue to contradict himself. FACT
remains, we are (unlike PROPAGANDA) released on time, and up
to date about the CRACKING, DEMO and MODEM scene..
During the past months, I have tried to keep myself updated -
reading buffered posts CROSSFIRE and PSYCHOBILLY mailed
me. This was the only possible way that I could have had any
insight about what was going on on the boards.
Sadly a small number of PROPAGANDA supporters have been
spreading negative vibrations about The PULSE- and me, even
though they had no reason or even motive for it.
One of these people is ROUGH of CHROMANCE, who claims that
I don't know anything about the US boards, and therefore I
should have been incapable of writing anything about it. Phew,
that one was really low. I used to know ROUGH in the past, also
as a pretty good friend as far as I remember. But I don't
remember seeing him on any of the major boards (Forum, Termi-
nal Obsession, 2nd to none, etc) when I used to call out almost
two years ago. But I guess there will always be people around
to backstab, lie, and brag about being cooler than someone
else, especially when that someone is not around. How cool of
you ROUGH. I really admire types like you, that rag at people
and their productions, then hiding behind the curtains.
In the future I hope that the people against me and The PULSE
would come out in the open, and say what is on their mind, in-
stead of sneaking around spreading bad vibration and rumours.
You can either send a letter to my address to express your
opinion, or leave a message for either CROSSFIRE or PSYCHO-
BILLY, and they will buffer your message for me. If you got the
guts that is. But one thing is for sure, if you keep on your
subjective deeds on the boards, people will stop listening to
you, because that would be evidence of your cowardice.
Do not get me wrong, I have always respected everyone that
had the guts to write something to me, but people writing about
me behind my back is lost for my respect. The fun of waring is
lost, and everything goes sour. No wonder people desides to
quit the computer when things like that happen.
With these words, this open letter has concluded. But before I
go, I can announce that there is a slight possibility that you
may see me on the American boards again in the future. Right
now it remains a slight possibility though. Till then, The DUKE

A great and busy month has gone by with many good wares from
a lot of groups which reincarnated into the wares scene!
The topnews of the month must be that LEGEND and TSM are
back releasing. Furthermore PANDORA popped in aswell.
Another mentionable event was the wares-explosion made
possible by ALPHA FLIGHT! Read more about that later, now
the time has come for the monthly look at the American groups:
EMPIRE
TRISTAN has disappeared into the dust he came from. Rumours
say he has to go back into prison. THE MERCENARY and RICH
returned and gave enough motivation to VIZZ it seems..
THE SHAOLIN MONASTRY
ZALDRON is back in fixer's business. Only working in one job
now, gives him more time to bother about the scene! Let's see
what happens after he moved house.
DEMONIX
For a long time they could call the topspot their own. It seems
their are getting tired when the X-MAS rush really starts!
RSI/USA
MRP has joined the hardware-trouble-club and has to seek
for a fresh keyboard, while MO needs a fresh computer. SUB-
ZERO left the group.
AVATAR
Rumours are spread they would return shortly, and no harm was
done to THE SHADOW although he got busted..
CODERZ
Two new fixers joined up with their ranks who are said to be
old sceners returning in the business. Their names sound like
fakes (EUROLAMER and STUPID CANADIAN) and their fixes
look like the same. Both fixes they made were far below 100%.
X-RADICAL's NTSC chip is broken, so their Europian fixer
cannot do his job anymore.
ARMAGEDDON
MOLOCH killed the group due to a lack of time and CARCASS'
inactivity.

ALPHA FLIGHT (Germany, USA, etc.) 12.8 Points/2.Rank

This group surprised everybody with an impressing flood of
wares this month. They started with the awesome jump'n'run
FRED'S BACK (3.6) from MAGIC DISK/COSMOS DESIGNS which
was released on pal. VISION spreaded their version at the same
time but got it on too less major boards, so AFL made it here.
AFL released a jewel version of this game shortly afterwards
they spreaded the first version.
LUNAR JAILBREAK (2.4) from LOGIC was released by them on
pal aswell.
Although F4CG was said to have DO OR DIE (2.1) from MARKT+
TECHNIK since weeks, AFL made it as first on most of the
major boards.
ALPHA FLIGHT (Germany, USA, etc.) 12.8 Points/2.Rank

After that they released an American fantasy type game called
WINGS OF CIRCE (4.8) from CREATIVE PIXELS.
Unfortunately INTERNATIONAL SPORTS CHALLENGE (-5) was
re-released by them, which was first put out by ARCADE and
EMPIRE last year.
The last game provided by them this month called ISLAND OF
THE DRAGONS (4.9) from CREATIVE PIXELS was an American
game again which seem to bug on pal computers sometimes.
EPIC (DK, Germany, etc.) 3.7 points/6.Rank

A crappy preview called GALAXY COP (0.3) and a lame budget
from KOPIDO GAMES called BOTTLE OF BUDBRAIN (1.8) was put
out on pal by them. BOTTLE OF BUDBRAIN was released by
CHROMANCE before, but their version did not work on C128
computers, due to a lame cruncher their cracker used.
The same problem appeared on the preview of ROBOTIX (0.3)
which EPIC put out after Chromance aswell.
At least they released a textadventure called BI JOVE (1.8)
from COMMODORE FORCE.
F4CG (Italy, Belgium, Germany, etc.) 1.2 Points/11.Rank

BASKETBALLS (1.2) was released by them on pal. Less than 50
blocks game..
ILLUSION (UK, Norway, Germany, USA.) No Points/No Rank

All they released this month was a SEUCK game from CHAMPION
SOFTWARE called TORSION WARRIOR II which even says public
domain in the intro..

MEGATHRUSTERBALL (5.1) from LEGENDARY DESIGN was fixed

by TSM. Rumours say this game is coded by LEGEND as some
names of LEGEND members are mentioned in the introscreen of
the game..
PANDORA (Germany) 5.1 Points/5.Rank

They released a very decent DYNOBLASTERS type game called
LETHAL BOMBS (5.1) from ANGU SOFTWARE which was fixed by
EMPIRE.
RED SECTOR INC (Germany, UK, USA) 18.1 Points/1.Rank

Staying solid as a rock on the topspot with high quality wares
this month again.
The long awaited ALIENS III (5.7) from VIRGIN SOFTWARE was
released on pal by them. The attempt by CODERZ to fix this
majortitle failed as their version is far below a 100% version.
Furthermore TALES OF BOON (5.3) from PRESIGE/X-AMPLE
was put out on pal by RSI. Here again was a CODERZ version
released which was not 100% either. No credits in both cases!
Also HERMETIC (3.5) from MARKT+TECHNIK was released by
them as first on the most important boards. AFL spreaded a
not 100% translated version on some other boards which were
left out by the RSI spreaders a day later.
RED SECTOR INC (Germany, UK, USA) 18.1 Points/1.Rank

A little budget game from DOUBLE DENSITY called BOUNCE IT
(3.6) was released on pal and afterwards fixed by MP/RSI.
There was also a graphic bug in the original which he removed.
SUCCESS (Holland, Germany, Poland, etc.) 7.5 Points/3.Rank

At first they released a preview called PERPLEXITY (0.5) and
moved ahead with the quite nice ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ (3.4)
from DIGITAL MAGIC SOFTWARE put out on pal.
It was spread together with the pal version of DROID (3.6) from
MIRAGE which was fixed by EMPIRE afterwards. POKER-THE
GAME was ignored pointswise as the game is still in polish!
TALENT (UK, Germany, Finland) 3.2 Points/8.Rank

They released an old game translated again called REEDEREI
(3.2) from UNITED SOFTWARE. Rumours say there was already
an English version spreaded on the boards by PARAMOUNT
years back.
THE RULING COMPANY (Holland, OZ, etc.) 0.6 Points/12.Rank

A perview called SUPER BOUNCER (0.6) was released by them.
TRIAD (Sweden, Holland, etc.) 1.3 Points/10.Rank

CROSS'N'CRICLE (1.3) from MARKT+TECHNIK reached the bbs'.
VISION (Germany, DK, etc.) 3.3 Points/7.Rank

After they got beaten on FRED's BACK II they released a little
puzzle game from MAGIC DISK called MAGNETIC (3.3) which was
fixed by EMPIRE.
CHROMANCE (Hungary, Germany, etc.) 1.4 Points/9.Rank

Out of a whole bunch of previews and games DUNGEONS (0.4)
worked on c128 computers aswell. Another one-sided preview
called HORSEKILLER (0.4) was put out by them. A quite decent
Polish ware from L.K.AVALON called CASTLE (4.9) was released
by CHROMANCE and fixed by DEMONIX.
CHROMANCE (Hungary, Germany, etc.) 1.4 Points/9.Rank

ECI GFX EDITOR (-) was spreaded by them on the boards which
is infact a very useful tool if you are into graphics. Further-
more they released another, improved preview of NO LIMIT (0.7)
- a game in the style of HOT ROD.
Too bad they could not stand to release LUNA LANDA (-5)
which was first brought out by THE BINGO TEAM on the boards
according to CROSSFIRE/EPIC.

towards Christmas or not?! AFL and RSI released 50% of all

Now that we have reached the cold side of the year, more and
more people choose to stay inside, rather than outside. This
means more activity on our little scene, and it shows in our
December report, about all the happenings in the past month.

Before we start with the round-up of the happenings in the
scene, we would like to remind you to read the special party
article, THE PULSE INFORMS, located right after the news.
* ACTIVE *
STASH (Swapper) left ACTIVE to join his country-men in
WRATH DESIGNS.
* ADSR/SPIRIT *
DOS/ADSR/SPIRIT and CANE/ADSR/SPIRIT left the scene.
This may mean the death of the music-group ADSR, who up to
now has done fairly well in the charts.
* ALPHA FLIGHT 1970 *
The AFL+RSI EHQ "CAPITOL" went down, but came up later
again on SUPREME's private line. Now it is only AFL EHQ
though, give it a call at +49-5307-8413. BIZARRE left AFL,
and is now only in TRANCE. Meanwhile, STYX and MAJA/SAC-
RED joined up, but MAJA was kicked later, because of supply-
ing a re-release cracked by SUPREME. While on the SACRED
topic, PERNET (musician) did NOT quit as mentioned in most
of the mags. Also SKID ROW got the boot, this time because of
delaying with HERMETIC. But to keep the balance, AFL could
proudly announce, that STING was back in the scene, this time
with AFL. According to MARC, STING is not yet fully commited
to the scene, but has already been spotted on the American
boards. Due to this hectic month, ALPHA FLIGHT could make
out a new memberstatus, it goes like this: SUPREME, MAX,

* CADGERS *
TROOPER/TRC who just recently left CADGERS in order to
join TRC, rejoined CADGERS as his second group. Meanwhile,
PETHICK left the group and RUSH quit the scene.
* CHERUBS *
ASSAILANT/ex.SACRED joined up as a cracker.
* CHORUS *
A new group called CHORUS (demo group) is formed. Members
are: CLARENCE+PEET/CADGERS and OLLIE/PRIDE
* CHROMANCE *
CHROMANCE is responsible for the new-years party in Hun-
gary, together with FACES between the 20th and the 21st of
December. Look for a more detailed description of the party
and its whereabouts in the end of the Global Report. FACES
may also release a demo at this party. CHROMANCE also picked
up CHAOTIC FACTOR, and the sysop CAESAR joined in. Later
CHROMANCE dropped the board, and CHAOTIC FACTOR is now
independent. HAIN, who just joined CHROMANCE a while back,
left to rejoin his old group SUCCESS (more about this in the
SUCCESS report). The official memberstatus of CHROMANCE
goes something like this: GRIFF, COP, JAZZY D, ALEX, JINX,
MR.WAX, PEACEMAKER, ROUGH, BLOCKBUSTER, ICARUS,
ICARUS, THE MINISTRY, CHUM and THE UNHOLY.
* CODERZ (U.S.A) *
BLACKSTAR NINJA (Canadian runner) joined CODERZ under
his old handle BRUCE LEE. Also EUROLAMER and STUPID AME-
RICAN (?) teamed up with CODERZ (said to be old fixers back
in business!?!).
* CRYPT *
THORN/ex.CRAZY returned and rebuilt CRYPT (demo-group)
together with NEW DESIGN and SHURIKEN, both old members of
CRYPT.
* EPIC *
EPIC is getting bigger and bigger. STEPHEN/AFL and FRESH
PRINCE/ex.BRUTAL, LIGHT, X-RAY both joined up. MASON,
who was once in EPIC, only for a brief while though, due to
some misunderstandings, rejoined them after having been out
for nearly a year. According to CROSSFIRE, the misunderstan-
dings are cleared, and he is back to stay for good. Also his
partner ICEBALL/VISION joined EPIC. LOYALTY and DOOM
started calling out, and CRUEL left EPIC, and the scene, to
start on the PC.
* F4CG *
F4CG added two new members this time. First IDOL/ex.REGINA
joined in, then the old legendary ANTITRACK/LEGEND joined.
* IKARI *
IKARI has returned! This caused a lot of great joy for most of
the sceners, but no. Even though they claimed to be back with
such respected names as: JUST ICE/ex.IKARI, EXCELL/ex.
LEGEND, FRANK/ex.ENIGMA, JCH/VIBRANTS, and even GOT-
CHA. To top it all, they put CORRUPTION back on its feet,
with an almost offending issue, and claimed several top boards
and 1st-releases. Whomever is trying to fake this seems quite
obvious. HUNTER, who claimed to have been in both AFL and
SACRED, must be the creator of this circus. Sigh, does the
nowadays lamers have no respect for the golden oldies. The
biggest joke, was that most of the sceners actually believed
they were back for real!
* ILLUSION *
ILLUSION is once again loosing members. This time the most
productive member DERBYSHIRE RAM left the fleet, which must
be because of the lack of activity from the other european
members. Shortly after, GREGO and SUSIEUZI decided to do
the same, and then RICHIE left the modem-scene 100%. A few
days later however, GREGO rejoined ILLUSION. Through all
this "IN LIVING COLOUR" still remained ILLUSION-HQ.
* IMPRESSION *
A new group hits the scene, the name is IMPRESSION. Members
are: CRUNCHER/TRANCE, DR.JONES/VISION and TOXYC/EX-
TACY. They have a board in Germany called "ICE CREAM CAS-
TLE" (just like the old CREST demo), sysoped by CRUNCHER.
* JINX *
A new UK group has been formed, this one is called JINX, and
it consists of MAELSTROM (UK supplier, organizer, AMIGA
dude), ROCKSTAR (fixer, cracker) and an old FAIRLIGHT
cracker. According to MAJESTY/TALENT, ROCKSTAR should
still be in TALENT though.
* LASER *
IRONFIST left ELECTRIC BOYZ (which is now dead) to join up
with the recently rebuilt LASER.
* LETHARGY *
MERCURY/NATURAL BEAT/REBELS rejoined his old group
LETHARGY as his second group. Also ARTLACE/TRIAS joined
LETHARGY, so TRIAS is dead.
* NATURAL BEAT *
SILC/LETHARGY joined NATURAL BEAT as his second group.
NATURAL BEAT is a music group.
* NO NAME *
SCORPIO/ex.F4CG is back in the scene, he teamed up with NO
NAME. His girlfriend BLACK LADY is NOT back.
* RED SECTOR INC. *
Last month we wrote that The Red BBS from OB was a RSI BBS,
and that OB was in RSI. This is not true though, OB is NOT in
RSI, and his board is not RSI either. ANARCHY is back in busi-
ness trading for RSI again (on a new address though), and also
IRATA picked up swapping again. SUBZERO decided to leave
RSI because of time-problems.
* REGINA *
IDOL who left REGINA last month, joined up with F4CG. Accor-
ding to IDOL, the reason why he left REGINA in the first place,
was that he wanted to be in a cracking group instead. REGINA
will not participate in the competition at the CAMELOT party
this year, due to ROCCO and COYOTE quitting the 64-scene to
start on the PC. But REGINA will keep on releasing THE PULSE
MAGAZINE, The New Years special is still schedualed to be
released at the party aswell. Because of the departure of both
ROCCO and COYOTE, REGINA is looking for talented coders.
* SUCCESS *
HAIN left CHROMANCE and rejoined his old group SUCCESS.
According to him, there was no special reason for this moving
around, but one reason could be that he was billed 300 dollars
by the Polish telecom, who claimed toll-free numbers should be
charged as if it was a local-call. It may seem as a joke, and
HAIN even stand to loose his equipment if the Polish telecom
does not withdraw their bill.
* TALENT *
CHRYSAGON left TALENT because of MAJESTY releasing
REEDEREI without asking BOD. But it seems as if he is back in
TALENT again though.
* THE RULING COMPANY *
The Australian swapper, CRUZE/LITHIUM, joined up with TRC
in a time where they have lost a lot of members. Also IRONCAT
is back in the scene again, after a break because of the army.
* VISION *
Old VISION leaders CURLIN and RACOON (ex.MAD BUTCHER)
teamed up with the "new" VISION. According to DISHY, this
should put away all the accusations that VISION is a fake. We
have invited DISHY to talk about the whole VISION affair in
our SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT chapter- make sure not to miss out
on that interview. But even though CURLIN and RACOON are
back, VISION keeps on loosing members. ICEBALL who just
joined recently, left to team up with EPIC. SMD (ex.MECHANIX)
did also leave. And finally, "STATE OF THE ART" is now also
VISION EHQ.
* VISUAL REALITY *
The Danish VR-board "DOMINIC" was formatted by a certain
hacker (read more about this in the BOARD REPORT). TRICKET
decided NOT to put his board back up, and also to leave VIS-
UAL REALITY. Right now he is considering whether he should
join a new group, or quit the scene totally. But according to
TRICKET, he is open for offers, if they are serious enough!

This party may not seem as glorious as The PARTY '93, but it
remains admirable for us west-europeans, that the eastern
sceners, seems to be mounting up parties of their own. Bad
for the western parties though, but who can afford the trip
from Hungary to Denmark anyway? It is definately not peanuts!
The PARTY '93 will take place in Herning/Denmark. Already a
lot of established names has announced that they will be
releasing new demos at the party, and by the looks of it, the
competition may prove to be a real horror episode.
So announce your presence in the scene, and follow the sce-
ners to the greatest party of 1993. THE PULSE MAGAZINE will

+ DEVASTATING EVENT IN DANISH BOARD-LIFE +

Sunday, the 21st of November 1993 will be a day three sysop's
from all around Denmark won't forget right away.
The method of entering a board via a backdoor has been well-
known in certain crowds of people for ages, but this day, at
approx. 3:50 pm the phone rang at the VISUAL REALITY head-
quaters DOMINIC. The sysop, TRICKET wasn't home that week-
end like any other weekend, so noone saw a hacker enter his
account, enter rem-mode, whereafter he formatted the entire
system-drive. Approx. two hours later, the phone rang at the
BRONX headquaters, CLOSE-UP. Luckily in this case, BIRD,
the sysop, was at home, which is really lucky, since this guy..
..is hardly EVER home. He immediately noticed something was
very wrong when someone entered his account. BIRD didn't
take long to realize that something was very fishy. As the
hacker entered rem-mode, he hit the first available key, which
in this case was F8, the one that kicks users off. The hacker
had failed in his second attempt. Ten minutes later the phone
rang at the un-official voice number of CROSSFIRE, the sysop
of GATEWAY. It was CAVRON of THE RULING COMPANY calling.
Meanwhile CROSSFIRE had told his little-brother to say he was
not at home, as he was about to be picked up by a friend. The
conversation ended between CAVRON and CROSSFIRE's kid-
brother. Less that one minute later the phone rang on the BBS
line, and someone entered CROSSFIRE's sysop account. It was
now for certain WHO the hacker was. However, CAVRON didn't..
..succeed formatting GATEWAY, since CROSSFIRE had taken
TOO many precautions, amongst other things, he hadn't given
himself rem-bit access, so entering the rem was not possible,
although CAVRON attempted up to 15 times, before he accep-
ted his defeat.
You might think, that taking it obvious that CAVRON is the one
that did this because of the before-mentioned reason, and at
this point I agree totally. BUT, you see, he also bragged to
several people, amongst ME, that he was able to do this, so he
has not only the skill, but also the motive. You see, as I have
been informed, his board in Germany STATE OF THE ART, which
is TRC+VISION headquaters is going very badly. My guess is,
he did all this to destroy all competition from the boards..
..that were WAY better, had WAY more callers, and WAY more
action, so his board finally could become Europe's # 1 like he
had been claiming eversince he opened it.
For those who still don't get it, after CAVRON formatted DOM-
INIC successfully, he went on to CLOSE-UP, but as the sysop
was home there and kicked him off, he decided to call the sysop
of GATEWAY, to make sure he wasn't at home so the failure on
CLOSE-UP wouldn't repeat itself. Only the sysop was home at
the time anyway, but even if he hadn't been, CAVRON would not
have been able to format the system drive there anyway.
As a sysop of one of these boards, I find it very hard to write
this article objectively, but god knows I am trying.
As the result of CAVRON of THE RULING COMPANY formatting
the drive on DOMINIC, Tricket will take the VISUAL REALITY
headquaters down forever and he may even quit the scene.
GATEWAY, the EPIC and THE PULSE MAGAZINE EHQ is still up
and running and refuse to be intimidated by smalltime lamers
who attempts to format it cause of their incredible invy cause
it's one of the absolute BEST and ACTION-filled board you can
find in Europe. This board can be reached at +45-86246449.
CLOSE-UP, the headquater for BRONX and their mag EARTH-
SHAKE is also still up, but BIRD has taken an incredible lot of
precausions to avoid things like this from ever happening

A side-note to add, is that an unknown german board named
THE SANITARIUM was also formatted earlier this month, in this
case though it is public knowledge that is was done by CAVRON
since he couldn't refrain from bragging about to his friends.
Assiting CAVRON/TRC formatting the danish boards was his
partner X-RADICAL/VISION.

We have a lot of "behind the curtain" stories, just like we
always have. Mind you, we could not care less about the actual
truth in the following stories. But just to ensure total satis-
faction from the readers, we have set up a voice-line, in

* We are moving closer to christmas, and it is going to become
a pretty expensive period for the majority. NEWSCOPY and
JUCKE of GENESIS PROJECT, are especially in financial prob-
lems. According to NEWSCOPY, they have to pay off 6 modems
to new members, and 400 kilos of pork-chops to ANTICHRIST
for the rights to GENESIS PROJECT. But JUCKE looks at the
future with optimistic eyes, "We all have to make sacrifices,
so I guess I will have to go on a diet". NEWSCOPY explains that
he will have to make less calls to the father (ANTICHRIST) a
week, but hopefully it will take them through 1993 with a minor
plus on the budget they wrote when they bought GENESIS.
They plan on coming to the party in Denmark, but that would
mean that WALKER would have to work the streets some more!

right outside the GENESIS HEADQUARTERS. LARS, what can
you tell us about the current situation there?
- Well, every THANKSGIVING the new GENESIS PROJECT, which
includes NEWSCOPY, JUCKE, etc, holds a feast for the poor
and homeless. Some say it is because they used to be homeless
themselves. But in any event, they have said up this great
stand, where they give away free modems for the poor.
+ Okay thanks. That was very nice of NEWSCOPY and JUCKE.
But I can't help wonder why they did not give the modems they
owe to their own members.
* Meanwhile AYCEE/TSM calls up BOD/TALENT:
AYCEE - "Oh BOD. I have a gift for you, my body!"
BOD - "Not now you stupid woman, don't you know that I am
doing my evening board-calls???"
* Meanwhile at the house of ANTICHRIST and SORCERESS:
ANT - "Oh, this turkey tastes just as good as the previous 7"
SOR - "Oh PORKY, you are such a man! I feel like just throwing
myself over the table, and let you abuse me sexually!"
ANT - "Beeeeelllllcccchhhh. Not know you old bag. Don't you
know I came to the states for thanksgiving?"
SOR - "Well, who cares. I'll just call up one of our children
and let them abuse me!"
ANT - "Yeah sure, call up the wimpy JUCKE. See if I care!"
* Meanwhile a new mag has just hit the streets. The name of
this nice magazine is REAL PROOF, and it claims to under-
cover all the TOP STORIES, that normal mags does not have..
We tried calling up the mag, but strangely enough, the editors
of this mag was not mentioned in REAL PROOF. But we did get
a hold of one of the editors, but because he wants to remain
unknown, we will just call him X.
P: So, tell us why you guys put together this subjective mag!
X: Welp, the truth is, that we are too lame to tell our stories
on the boards, because we are afraid that the people we men-
tion will crush us. Oh, it is hard being a lamer in the scene!
* Word has it, that the new IMPRESSION board "ICE CREAM
CASTLE" is down, because it melted. According to CRUNCHER
this has never happened to him before, and he sure as hell
hope it will not happen again. But he did manage to get it back
running, this time on FREEZE-MODE!?!
* ALPHA FLIGHT is kicking out members just as fast as they
recruit new ones. According to MARC, SKINHEAD (now called
SUPREME) has a problem with getting a long with the members.
When they call up SUPREME, they are to say HEIL HITLER,
instead of HELLO. SUPREME says, if they can't learn, I will
just have to kick them out. MAJA tried to "do the right thing",
but instead of giving him the HITLER salute, he said, "HEIL
STALIN". Moments later he was kicked out of AFL. Tsk, tsk..
* ILLUSION has again severe difficulties holding on to life in
the scene. Now DERBYSHIRE RAM has left the fleet, and that
seems as if that will surely kill the active part of the group.
Also GREGO left the group- And then rejoined three days
later. According to GREGO, he left the group only to get in the
magazines. Also SUSIEUZI left, but she forgot to rejoin. BOD
refuses to have called up SUSIEUZI claiming to be RICHIE to
get phone-sex from her. But according to SUSIEUZI, when she
heard "Oh jolly, no more tea left" she was sure that the call
was made by BOD!

To begin with, please introduce yourself to the readers! [V] Hi ALEX. KING of Australia? Come on seriously - how less am I the king? Anyway, my name is XXXX XXXXXX, I have just turned 18 years old, I am VERY tall, about 192 cm or something like that. I have black hair, I love basketball and boozing. I recently split up with my girl-friend after a year and a half. Since then I have had 4 girls (all in the space of 2 weeks). The newest and longest being "KELLY" - The babe is HOT! [D] Well, I guess we got established that besides being a HUGE freak, you are a little CASANOVA aswell! You have been one of the very few sceners to call the states from Australia for a long time, if not the only one. But recent headlines revealed that you ran into some difficulties, and therefore will not be able to call out anymore. Please explain what did happen, and your future plans on the modem-scene! [V] Oh shit! Okay, firstly I got a very large phonebill. At first I found this to be my doing, but after some talks with TELECOM, they told me I had been caught using a local PBX. Therefore I would have to go to court or pay for my calls, as I had just been to court 4 days before I decided to pay for my calls. It was a whooping bill of $4300! So now I will not be calling out until late next year- and then I will only be using cards! [D] PBX's are evil, I got caught using 3 myself in february 1992. You made it official more or less that you joined up with SHAZAM, atleast I got the impression that you left SUCCESS to join up with them. So which group is it then? [V] I will make it puplic- I AM NOT IN SHAZAM! There you read it first in THE PULSE MAGAZINE. I am a SUCCESS member. Sure I wrote a note which ended up on my spread disk somehow. I was thinking about joining, that is why I wrote the note. But I changed my mind. Anyway, some of my close friends are in this group, so I will give a quick run-down. SHAZAM is a group con- sisting of a few cool guys from Australia only, being SHADES, INSANE, GRIZE, GOP, TOMB and MORBID. Funny enough I had nothing to do with their 1st release, it was MORBID. Anyhow, SHAZAM is by far the best Australian group you will all see, and MORBID tells me they have other 1st releases on the way as well, only time will tell! [D] I guess so, hope they will continue with releasing! You are the main-editor of the most read Australian magazine VANDA- LISM NEWS. As an editor, how do you feel about the magazines released today? [V] VANDALISM NEWS is my mag, yes. About the other mags, well other than the board mags, THE GUIDE and maybe a couple of others like A-HEAD, NITRO and so on I think its pretty shit! Long gone are the days of CORRUPTION from ATG and of cource SEX'N'CRIME. Maybe things will pick up soon, I hope! [D] What are your future plans with VANDALISM NEWS then? [V] Well, I intend on releasing it as regular as possible, but you know how it is when waiting on vote-sheets. Hopefully it will reach high in the charts! No really, it is THE PULSE MAGAZINE for sure, nothing else is regular and PROPAGANDA has too less text plus its boring! [D] I am glad to see that you appreciate the work that we put into our mag. The amount of text is also ONLY scene based, something other mags cannot brag about. Anyway, I will not comment PROPAGANDA here, as they seem to have a problem with critisism!?! You have operated as a sort of Australian spokesman to the europeans for a long time. What do you think about the Australian scene today, and how does the future look for the C64 in your opinion? [V] The future is looking good I think. Sure all the good soft- ware houses are closing down, but new ones are always popping up. As for Australia, it is fucking lame other than a few and all in SHAZAM! The rest are bigheaded new comers, who thinks they are so cool, mouth off, and then when they get slagged, they run to their mommy's and ask why! Really only a few stand out to be cool. All in SHAZAM, CRUZE, UPTONOGOOD, WITTY, JAZZCAT and maybe some others. [D] Hard words, but it has to come from someone! Most of the europeans have got a bad impression of the Australian scene, mainly because of the very BAD magazines released. Do you feel responsible for "teaching" the Australian sceners how to approach the europeans, through VANDALISM NEWS? [V] Responsible? Not really, when all these piss-weak mags started coming, I was taking a break from the scene. Maybe we should blame VIOLATION or THE LINK, they were active mags and really THE LINK, and THE GRAPEWINE, are the only mags that are any good from Australia, other than VANDALISM NEWS! [D] I have only read THE LINK one's, and they had demo groups like OXYRON, CREST, CAMELOT and others included in their cracking chart. That really pissed me off, especially since I think if the editors are not capable of doing a proper chart, which includes knowing what groups does what, they should not do it at all. Sofar VANDALISM NEWS is the only DECENT mag I have had the joy of reading from Australia! I have heard about a few meetings in Australia. How many people do normally attend those meetings, and have you ever visited one your- self? [V] Nope, I have never visited a 64 OZ-party. Maybe 20-40 people would go. I personally would not waste money on flying from TASMANIA to attend a 40 person meeting. [D] That is understandable. What is the Australian sceners impression of you, now that you have been on the American boards, and you are also a member of SUCCESS, which is one of todays leading european cracking groups? [V] To tell the truth, I do not know. Some think it is cool and take as a so called "ELITE", but others are just jealous, and try to slag on me. I think all in all they like the idea! [D] So called elite? I would say you are the most ELITE member of the Australian scene today! During your stay in the 64- scene, do you feel as if you have reached the top, or do you still have a lot of ambitions or goals you feel you need to reach? [V] I have reached the TOP in one respect, I have kicked ass in most charts, and got in the worlds number 1 cracking group. But I would still like to be the number 1 swapper in the world or see VANDALISM NEWS make it to the number 1! [D] Wow, you sure have alot of goals there already! But that makes it much more fun, instead of having no goals. That is what makes the best crackers and coders leave the scene, no point in staying around when you have done and tried every- thing, they say! Who in your opinion, are the great sons of the scene, and why? [V] Well, most of them have already left, but the image the following guys gave was in one word "AWESOME".. DEEP PURPLE/RSI, JUST ICE and NIK/IKARI, RAISTLIN and ANTICHRIST/GP, DIZE/BONZAI, CHORUS- VERDUN and DAW/ TRIAD, CYCLEBURNER/CONTEX, and BONZAI as my favorite group followed by CONTEX and CRAZY! [D] Yep, CONTEX sure moved us all, as did BONZAI and CRAZY! Let us return to the introduction phase of this interview. How do you feel about what was said? [V] Um, ok. Maybe that is not for me to decide, how can I judge myself? I think I am not a king, but king "ELITE" lamer (work that out), maybe I have done alot for Australia, but not as much as say MATT/TERA! Welcome to our debate chapter, in which you can take part

This month we have invited DISHY of VISION, to talk about the
problems VISION has faced since they came back in full effect.
They ran into a lot of difficulties, mostly with old members of
the swedish VISION, who claimed they did not have the right to
continue with VISION, or in other words- That VISION was dead,
and should remain that way. However, the group continued, and
today they can only laugh, about the rough beginning they had.

[D] = DISHY/VISION
[P] Welcome DISHY. I have invited you to talk about the cur-
rent stability of VISION, now that it has gone through quite a
few problems, or should we call it scandals? How is VISION
doing these days?
[D] Hi Alex. First of all I want to make it clear, that VISION
have not been through any so-called "scandals", but it is true
that we had a few problems, when we rejoined VISION, which was
absolutely not that active when we got in. Actually only ICON
and HOUBBA (swedish section) were left. Anyway, most of the
problems should be solved by now, as also CURLIN rejoined
VISION, he used to be the leader back in 1988. At the moment
VISION is doing very well, indeed. It is not 100% perfect yet,
but we are growing stronger and stronger. Let's say we had a
pretty rough beginning.
[P] Okay, so we will leave it at that. DR.JONES criticized
VISION for being a lazy group, which was one of the reasons
why he left. Does VISION have a laziness problem?
[D] Well, when DR.JONES was a member of VISION, the danish
section was not so active, mainly because of our crackers
SATAN and RAY. First of all, SATAN's Action-Replay fucked
up, which means he didn't really crack anything in that period.
And RAY just needed the time to get back, as he had not been
active since he left GENESIS PROJECT. Besides he is also
working on games together with some CAMELOT guys. Anyway,
right now both RAY and SATAN are back in the cracking busi-
ness again, so expect to see lots of quality cracks from them,
as you used to do. All in all, let us say that "the danish sec-
tion of VISION has had a little laziness problem, but that
should be solved when you read this!".
[P] That sounds confident, let us hope that it will work out.
DR.JONES also said, that GENESIS PROJECT were right in
their accusations that VISION was built on fake intentions.
What was the inside opinion of VISION on this?
[D] As said before, VISION was never rebuild. Infact, we are
10 former VISION members in VISION right now, namely: SATAN
(used to be leader of the DK-section), DISHY (me), RAY, XOSS,
WOLF, CURLIN (old leader back from 1988), RACOON (old handle
was MAD BUTCHER), X-RADICAL, ICON, HOUBBA and probably
more will come. As you can see, right now we are 10 former VIS-
ION members, CURLIN even used to be the leader back in 1988.
We are about 18 members in VISION at the moment, as some
other coolies joined us. So, as everybody with a normal IQ can
figure out, VISION WAS NEVER BUILD ON FALSE INTENTIONS,
as NEWSCOPY+JUCKE claimed. Actually we called DR.JONES a
few weeks after he left, and when DR.JONES heard the current
memberlist, he apologized a lot for the shit he wrote when he
left us.
[P] GENESIS PROJECT has been bothering you since the day
you returned, because they claimed you had no original mem-
bers in the group. Do you think this criticism was based on
their jealousy, because SATAN and RAY left them earlier on?
[D] Well, NEWSCOPY+JUCKE's criticism were built on jealousy
and ignorance. When RAY and SATAN left GP, they didn't have
any active crackers at all. Even if GP still have some great
members, which I really like a lot, I do not think they will
reach the standard they used to have in the old days, only
time can show that.
[P] Yes, they have a lot of good members, but most of them is
more active on the PC rather than on the 64. Do you think GP
has used PROPAGANDA to "kick dirt" at VISION? And if so, is
that not a very subjective attitude from PROPAGANDA?
[D] Hmm, actually I think they've used PROPAGANDA a lot
against us, but there is absolutely nothing new in that. PRO-
PAGANDA has always been a subjective magazine about the
cases they are/WERE dealing with.
[P] Perhaps, but when PROPAGANDA returned, they showed
off a very objective attitude (almost too objective). Maybe
they have decided to take on ANTICHRIST's idea, and use the
mag for what it's called. Anyway, even though you have faced
a lot of problems, you still seem to be going strong. What is
the future plans of VISION then?
[D] Well, we're getting stronger and stronger. During the time
when the danish section weren't that active, the german mem-
bers really made a good work, which also is the main reason
why you can find us in most of the 1st-release charts. SATAN
and RAY will both start cracking again, which means we'll also
kick the normal charts as we used to do. We almost have every-
thing a good organized group has, like: Crackers, modem-
traders, card-suppliers, swappers, coders, artists, WHQ+EHQ
and a nice friendship. But we still need a few more TALENTED
guys. I guess most of us will stay in VISION, so be sure that
we'll stay around to the pure end. I hope the problems with GP
are solved by now, but one thing is sure, VISION will NEVER
die because of such CRAP they spreaded on the boards and in
PROPAGANDA. What ever, lots of guys laughed at them.
[P] Well, it is nice to see that you haven't lost interest in
going on with the group. Do you have anything in particulary
you want to say to the readers about this whole story?
[D] Yep. Do not believe in what NEWSCOPY+JUCKE wrote
against us, as this VISION is the ORIGINAL VISION. It all star-
ted when SATAN and RAY left GP by NEWSCOPY and JUCKE/
GP, who convinced a few others, like ROUGH/CHROMANCE
(former VSN-member!). Then a few childish asslickers also
started to rag on us, just to get attention (Hi, CROSSFIRE).
After CURLIN rejoined VISION, ROUGH and some others should
be convinced that this is the real VISION. If you want to know
more about this, just get your fingers on the original note
about it, which has got some very nice reactions from pure
ELITE guys.
[P] I am not sure about CROSSFIRE being a childish asslicker,
I think you got something wrong there. But anyway, what is the
difference between VISION and IKARI, that was just "rebuild"?
[D] The difference between VISION and IKARI. No problem, VIS-
ION wasn't rebuild this time as ICON and HOUBBA never left,
IKARI was rebuild. Even if VISION was rebuild there would be a
big difference, as we got 10 former VISION members, including
the old leaders. About VISION and old IKARI there is no differ-
ence, both some great groups, hehe!!
[P] Yeah well, it happens that the rebuild IKARI was a giant
fake, and surprisingly enough, most of the sceners actually
believed that it was a true comeback. But no matter, thanks
for answering all my questions. Good luck in the future with
getting the problems off your back!
[D] Thanks a lot ALEX. Well, almost all problems should be

We have another debate on the agenda for this month, we will
discuss the sovereign elite, and its importance to the actual
and future scene. Today the scene is devided in more than two
levels, the elite has built their own colonies on the boards,
and the new-commers and unknown are left in a scene of their
own. Due to this, we are now able to vitness the new eastern
sceners, building their own scene, blocked away from the
western dominated one.
This has already been a hot topic in some mags, especially
because of the demos released from the east, which included
their national language instead of English. This is a threat to
the structure of the scene, and most certainly will not help it
in its attempt to survive in the future.
In the earlier days, you could always tell the elite from the
rest. Today it is difficult to tell, most of the groups claim
an elite status, even though they haven't done anything
remarkable to obtain that status. Therefore we raise the
question- Is the absence of the sovereign elite groups to
blame for the downfall of the system?
We propose, that the presence of the TOP groups in the euro
scene, would push out the fake elite, and once again bring
back the successful system the 64 scene has always been so
proud of.
TOP groups such as RED SECTOR INC, SUCCESS, EPIC and
ILLUSION has done a remarkable job, when it comes to setting
an example in the scene. They have the right number of swap-
pers in the group, and they do their puplic relation very well.
Also ALPHA FLIGHT has recruited more members, to secure
that their wares are available for everyone. This does have
a price, more members and a bigger job for these groups. But
the result is more activity, and the smaller groups has a rea-
son to stay with the 64.
LEGEND and TALENT has almost moved to the states, and are
very rare visitors in the european scene. Their work on the
mailtrading aswell as puplic relations, is near terrible. They
are only visible when calling the US boards.
It is logic to us all, that if we want to keep the scene alive,
the elite MUST show more activity. They are the idols of the
smaller groups, and there are A LOT of those. But it seems as
if some of the sovereign elite has no interest in keeping the
scene alive (population wise), which is kind of sad.
We hope to discuss this topic further in the coming months.
And we also hope that the elite would pay more attention to
their puplic relation work, instead of hanging about on the US
boards. Atleast, if they want a scene to hang on to...
