The Link 11 Party Update
From C64 Diskmag Wiki
P A R T Y U P D A T E S --------------------------- just a more detailed update since the party invitation. this chapter explains everything that you need to know about the scene party 1993 for the australian scene. if you are not part of the oz scene, you may wish to leave this chapter. anyway, let's get on with it.... so far, i have around 20 people showing interest in coming to the party. since the oz scene has only around 70 people, that's 30% attending the party. not bad! the cost will be $15.00 for both days payable by cheque by the 30TH MAY. the cheque should be made out to DANIEL POON and sent to: 8 BOSCO PLACE SCHOFIELD N.S.W. 2762 AUSTRALIA the deadline for payment is final. no extension will be given. i know the price has risen from $5 to $15. the reason behind this is that the original $5 is only covering the hall hire charges. subsequent to the note, people express interest in making nice demo if a money prize is offered. so start doing something good for the scene party and win cash prizes. there will be competition for: DEMO GRAPHICS MUSIC and the rules are:::::::::::::::: 1) all work must be original. 2) entry should be made known of the author. in the case of multiple authors, please be clear about it so we know who will get the final prize if their group wins. 3) DEMO must be no more than 200 blocks containing one or more parts. it will be judged on originality of the code as well as the presentation, so the number of parts is not that important 4) GRAPHICS must be a full blown piccy in FLI format. it must be a picture, not logos or letters or symbols. 5) MUSIC must have bass or drum part. style should be melodic, progressive with feeling. no digi should be used. tunes must be composed in one of the more popular music writer eg. dmc. tunes will be judged on originality as well. please don't transcribe a commercial tune cos that's cheating and invalid. 6) the competition is strived to bring out the best in the scene. so the more original, the better. but don't over do it. original does not mean weird!!! so beaware of that. the best guide is do something everyone likes to see and enjoy seeing. 7) all work entered in the competition becomes freeware. no copyright or ownership may be retained. of course the author/group is preserved. but everyone else may spread or use their work. the aim is to compile a special disk containing all the entries that are winners or otherwise. 8) the judge designated will make the final decision and cannot be disbuted. we will try to be as fair as possible. afterall, we only want the best of the best. as for the prize: DEMO: 1st - $60, 10 3.5hd worth $50 2nd - $40, 10 3.5hd worth $50 GFX: 1st - $35, a 1351 mouse worth $50 2nd - $25, ZAK: 1st - $25, 10 5.25dd disks 2nd - $15 the prize is only preliminary and should be used as a guide. the final prize amount depends on the final number of attendee to the party. so a turn-out of 30 people may boost the prize pool fairly significantly. in fact, some new prize may come about from donation (anyone out there???). as you may notice some disparity between the prize for demo and gfx and music. this is because we recognise the degree of difficulties and the likely number of entry across the categories. now for the events for the two days. so far i had suggestions of massive copying party for the first day. showing off warez and stuff. of course, wouldn't it be great to show off your latest warez your group released? bring your cameras cos there'll be flashs every- where. aboveall, talk and chat with ya mates who you never get the chance to meet. then, we'll run off to SIZZLER for a big feast for the night. has anyone not been to the PANTHERS CLUB in penrith? some nice women in that REACTOR ONE night club too! the second day is mainly hangover from the first day. more warez will be released. i'll ask a few people to provide workshops to show how they CODE, DRAW AND MAKING MUSIC, for demos and their expertise can be challenged by others who may have a different view. hopefully we can all learn a bit more on the tricks of the trade. of course, the AMIGA is gonna be huge!!! you see, at least 10 of the attendee have amigas. there'll be massive game copying and demo showing. no probs. no doubt, the c64 dude will show why the c64 is better and likewise for the amigos!!!! during the day, we will show and annouce winners of the competitions. they'll be crowned with both fame and fortune (we're trying to throw in a women or two for bonus too - ed) so you can have it all. the judge will be decided shortly perhaps next month. link will write up to the minute news of the party. the party news will be telecasted to europe and beyond for every hour of the event. if you haven't already guessed how we do it, think of the phone!!! can you think of anything alse? ACCOMODATION: ------------- as i mentioned that a caravan park is nearby to the party. i have rung up for some detail: PENRITH CARAVAN PARK 500 METRES TO RAIL STATION CLOSE TO SHOPS & CLUBS TEL: (047) 35 4425 4 PEOPLE VAN: $49 2 PEOPLE VAN: $35 booking: AT LEAST 1 MONTH AHEAD. payment: PAY BY CHEQUE IN MAIL TWO WEEKS BEFORE CHECKING IN. check-in: 4-6PM ON SATURDAY if you are interested, why not find out who else may be going and book a 4 people van and share the cost. it's only $12 per head which is cheaper than what i thought to be $30 quoted in the invitation. ring them yourself and ask about details again as i am only writing this off my head so there may be slight differences. well, that's all i've thought of for a while. anyway, it'll be wild! it'll be huge! it'll be absolutely fantastic! ok, so any questions please ring me (02)837-2132 after 7pm ask for DANIEL. don't forget to send your money now to secure your place in this once a life time event. looking forward to see you!!!
