Skyhigh 21 The wind sings Mary Jane - The X'96

The wind sings Mary Jane - The X'96 Once again it was April, once again it was time to tra- vel to the Netherlands, the lovely country of tulips, windmills, stupid TV-presentators and some other handy things :), to attend the ever growing compe- titor of The Party, the X'96 X'96 Well, I headed off in the morning to Intruder's house where we teamed up with Weasel/AVT (complete with handy, as always...) and drove up to Frankfurt to meet Jack Alien/AVT, Robocop,Racer and Avalanche of Atlantis. Furthermore two non-scene persons went with us, being my girlie and Felix, another Swiss guy, a punk, to be exact. Whoever met one of these guys mentioned above may imagine how the ride went! Approximately 5 Joints and 16 Bottles of beer later, we arrived at the partyplace, which actually was the same as last year, the Buirthuus Einstein, which ap- pears to be a Kindergarten! First impression was a bunch of guys including Danzig/X-rated/Afl'70,Spin- ball/ACREX and Heavy Head/Mech...,err Motiv8, trying to enter our bus. After recovering from that shock, the next one was in store, being the Hitmen lynchmob next to the entrance door trying to glue their stick- ers onto you. Checking in was as easy as last year, and the desk-clerks, being no SCS+TRC members (they didn't even smell like weed!) were friendly and fast. The location itself is somewhat like this: A center room with beer-stand,cosy couches and a small TV, some outer rooms crammed with PeeCees, the toilet, the big room with the silver screen and the C64 room with a bottom and a top-floor. Food was sold at the Snack-bar van outside and the Mc Vomit, that is not too far, if you know where it is! The Prices were really cheap and generally the event didn't have any commercial flair like the Fredericia Fiasco. The an- nounced non-stop show of the latest movies how- ever turned out to be a show of Sci-Fi classics, most probably as AJ is not in biz anymore. But it was nice to watch anyway especially that Stella Star B-Movie showing the ever so smooth stop-motion animations, Deekay/Crest did quite the same... Anyways, it's fucking hard to write a report about this party, as the atmosphere of the party makes you forget about the surroundings and have a chat and a laugh instead. The only trouble were the sleeping facilities, as offering a tent outside is a cool idea, but without heating it's not that much of a convenient place to lay your head. Now,it seems as if you can easily distinguish them newer sceners from the oldies, as I can hardly see any sense in sitting at a party playing on your Play- station all the time, like Bundy/WOW did or wasting 3-4 hours cracking a game the SCS+TRC guys first- released a year ago, like U-turn did... After hearing that there is going to be a gfx-compo on the big screen, thanks to Nightshade, the compe- ting artists did their best to contribute in time, but DeeKay/Crest had to make a new version of his pic, featuring logo on/off function, which Count0 did for him live at the party. Though he was kinda upset, he came too late to contribute, but was taken in as well which relieved him somewhat :)... Wec/Angry/Equinoxe handed his picture in, but it was not running ,that's maybe because his contribution "Oral Sex" came out too low. Hi-Lite/Hitmen's pic was a PeeCee conver- sion of a Leguan, Celtic's was a two year old hires fake, and Angeldust's was a hires picture done at the party. Rayden/Chalice/Alpha Flight refused to con- tribute, because there were no prices, yeah, that's the right spirit! Anyways, here's the results of the GFX-compo held at 5 or 6 o'clock... 1. Deekay/Crest (Conversion of LI by H.R.Giger,SHIF) 2. Cupid/Avantgarde (Con.of Insex by M.Bedard,IFLI) 3. HI-Lite/Hitmen (PC-Conversion!!!!,Leguan,IFLI) 4. Wec/Angry/EQX (Oral Sex,own picture, Drazlace) 5. Angeldust/U-turn (Face, own picture, Hires) 6.Celtic/No Name (Commercial-Fake, own pic,Hires) And that's all, however I blame the time for the mis- sing reaction from the audience. Some surprises in this compo, especially DK's pic Kicked butt! Mine was NTSC-Fixed btw.,for all you spreaders... The Demo-Compo was held at 11 o'clock and after it, most people went home, especially Intruder forced all of us, especially Weasel, who wanted to wait for the PeeCee Compo... There was again a contribution by Cosine, like at last year's X, who are those guys? The demo was quite cool, so I suppose they should be better known. Furthermore animals are a fake-group?? The Hitmen Demo came to me as a shock, as it shows some really neat parts, like the $D011 logo stretcher. Chalice, the solo-group being Rayden made a nice, Amiga in- fluenced Demo with wired Gfx only (!) which are con- versions from Sebastian Krueger, a german artist. And everybody waited for the new demo from the tri- be called Crest and Krestology came out as a nice, stylish demo with not so much routines, but fascina- ting Gfx and animations and a cool BSE-joke part! Crossbow however prooved his status by first-re- leasing a single pixel FLD over an IFLI pic! However, las resultos: 1. Krestology/Crest 2. Cucumber Juice/Hitmen 3. Nofx/Chalice (Not the other way,Pulse!) 4. Neoteric/Cosine 5. Howl from Beyond/Animals Well, as said, I couldn't give a really detailed report here, as I was either chatting, or smoking, or the consequences. A interesting fact is, that a lot of guys mumble, that there are no girls in the scene, but on the other hand are too shy to talk to one!
