       the radwar v7 party report

after the report from "the party 1993"
we can present you another party report,
a report from the latest party in a le-
gendary serial of elite scene parties:

----------------------------------------
- party report from the rainbow-party -
- also known as the radwar-party v7 -
-held in heinsberg/germany, on 16/01/94-
- by radwar enterprises, fairlight -
- spreadpoint, tristar and red sector -
----------------------------------------

this party took place in a town called
heinsberg in germany. heinsberg is the
hometown of the old legend markus wie-
derstein. for all those newcommers i'd
like to explain that markus was known as
mws/radwar and worked a long time for
the public domain service "digital mar-
keting".

it was, without any doubts, not a kind
of computer-party like for example the
parties in denmark or sweden, but that
was announced in the invitations so if
you was interested to code, paint or
compose there you were definately at the
wrong place. the disco "chez renzo" was
located in the "centre" of heinsberg and
the fast food shop and pubs were filled
with hungry and thirsty sceners. entran-
ce was at 19.00 h (07.00 p.m.) and many
dudes were boozed. that's the sence of a
party.

there was a demo-competitions for the
cbm 64 and the following groups competed
for the first price, a sega mega drive:
digital excess, warriors, smash design
and padua. digital excess presented a
lemmings demo, with the old blue g*p
intro "europe's no.#1" infront and a lot
guys of the presented cracker scene have
started to laugh about it. all in all it
was a nice demo but who cares, no new
inventions, just a lemmings level.
warriors has shown a kind of bitmap vec-
tor with digitized, animated faces. in
my opinion the vector was painted (no
offence guys!). the scroller contained
some stuff about the behavior of germans
against foreigner, an anti-nazism text.
smash design has presented their demo
"west light" that was not allowed to
compete at the camelot party. it contai-
ned for sure nice graphics and looked
fine but nothing special to kick some
butts. this was the no.#2 in my personal
ranking.
padua has shown the long awaited demo
"torture iii". it was without any doubts
the best demo presented there, so they
won the demo competition on the cbm 64.
the most impressive part was coded by
polonus and contained a metamorphosis.
not that kind of 256 or more hires pixel
morph but amiga graphic metamorphosis on
the cbm 64. looks amazing!

i can't remember any complaints about
the competition results as a qualified
jury (e.x. manfred trenz) elected the
winning demo. this might be the solu-
tion for upcoming parties: the ten best
presented guys have to judge about the
competition entries in their subject:
code, graphic and music. the election
can be made by using a megachart of the
last month or a chart of a top magazine.
if one of the top ten is not visiting
the party the next one (#11) will be al-
lowed to enter the jury. these guys
should judge about the entries but they
wouldn't be allowed to vote for own pro-
ductions to avoid any manipulations.
what do you think about this system? the
organisers of upcoming parties should
think about it. it's better when 10 pro-
fessional specialists judge about their
subject instead of 1000 not qualified
guys that vote just for fun (pc or amiga
user for example). this might be the
best solution in my very own opinion.
any reactions about this opinion would
be fine.

the party was held, like said before, in
a disco called "chez renzo". entrance
fee was dm 25,- (ca. dkk 100,- to com-
pare it with the amount paid in denmark)
and all kind of alcohol was sold for
reasonable prices like a beer for dm 2,-
and a long drink for dm 4,-. there were
some dudes that drank too much and had
some fights infront of the disco but in
the discos there weren't any serious
troubles. that belongs to party, other-
wise it was no real party.

to my knowledge the following persons
have visited this party, at first active
guys sorted in groups, later on the non
active or freelancing dudes

ALPHA FLIGHT: marc, max, sting, chr,
              maniac, rrr, splatterhead

RED SECTOR: psychobilly, mr. president,
            tbb, scat, posdnugs, termo,
            count zero, hok, irata

AVANTGARDE: jack alien, jack daniels,
            deff, freestyle

VISION: curlin, peacemaker, dr.jones

SUCCESS: ramirez, arrogance

GENESIS: airwolf, aslive, l.a.style

PADUA: diabolo, anonym, leonardo and
       franky

SMASH DESIGN: ivan, aeg

DIGITAL EXCESS: torsten koncina

OXYRON: rrr

TALENT: majesty

FFOURCG: solar

and: mws (logical consequence, party
organizer), tom tailor (ex-afl, ex-
paramount), mr. zero page (ex-light cir-
cle), parson (ex-dcs), 3dk (ex-domina-
tors), $fe/tli (alias marcel siegert/
radwar), markus siebold (musician, amok)
dj cat (ex-paramount), x-tro (ex-trino-
mic, ex-talent), manfred trenz (conver-
sation cbm 64 katakis, r-type), oliver
stiller (mdg, creator of amica paint),
jihad (ex-hitmen, ex-action) and more
dudes but i haven't seen or can't remem-
ber yet.
another well known guest was the most
hated guy in the german computer scene,
the notorious pirate hunter guenther
freiherr von gravenreuth but this guy is
an institution on those kind of parties
in germany.

like said before, the doors were opened
at 07.00 p.m. but in the afternoon there
was a soccer match for those guys that
wanted to show their sports skills. i
can't present any result as i didn't
care about this match. this match was
shown at the big screen in the disco.
more interesting were the old videoclips
from former radwar parties, with all the
ancient legends like dd, fac, fcs, rad-
war and many more.
as usual for the radwar parties there
was a martial arts presentation from a
located club. both, man and woman, are
currently german championships. later on
a guy entered the stage and demanded a
fight against the champion. after a some
minutes long discussion the champion
agreed and so they made a boring fight.
after the fight markus said that the
guy was the teacher of the champion. hmh
it was boring, no fucking action!
i can't inform you about the amiga and
pc demo competition as i wasn't present
while these two competitions were run-
ning. i've been in diabolo's car and we
drank some beer.

what else happened on the party? red
sector inc. is dead, their new name is
tristar & red sector (trsi) to have an
identic name on all systems (cbm 64,
amiga and pc).
success and the ruling company are said
to be in coop aswell.
splatterhead/ex-alpha flight joined the
fleet of chromance, the same did maja/
ex-alpha flight who was not at the party
rumours came up that "the pulse" will be
a "trsi"-magazine, the same counts for
"propaganda".

a nice move from the party organisers
was to give out coloured posters and
stickers from the party for free! the
party t-shirt was no ordinary black and
white t-shirt but it was coloured. the
price was dm 30,-- (dkk 120,-) so it was
a reasonable price for the quality. some
guys of "trsi" tried to sell their own
group t-shirts aswell for dm 29,-- but
i haven't seen any person that was in-
terested to buy them.

finally i've to add that there were pro-
blems while showing the cbm 64 demos. it
was first not possible to show the demo
with sound, later on they fixed the
sound problem but skipped the colours so
the screen was shown everything in black
and white. they promised to fix this bug
for the pc and amiga presentation, i can
not confirm it.
padua had some problems with their car
(the berlin section: franky, leonardo
and anonym). their car was completly
locked but the key was in the car so
they tried to crack their car. even
skilled crackers like jihad failed and
were not able to solute this problem.
the disco was not that big like these
big dance temples but there was enough
space for everyone, some of the guys
spent most of the time outside. the
only negative aspect is that only a few
foreigners from belgium or netherlands
visited this party. there can be only
one message for the typical denmark or
sweden party visitor: you've missed a
great event!
the ultimate party would be a mixture
out of these different party styles, a
party were you can booze for reasonable
prices and work on your computer (if you
need to work on it). if you've expected
something like "the party v3" you surely
have been disappointed but if you want
to have some fun with your friends, con-
tacts or even rivals if was the optimal
solution and for sure the best event if
you're talking about computer parties.
i'm looking forward for the radwar-party
v8.

yours sincerly,

                rrr/oxyron
                   /alpha flight 1970

p.s.: thanx to marc/afl for updating my
      information.
