              FOR SHOWING
            THAT OLD IS GOLD

CHROMANCE is one of those anonymous
groups that just happen to be there at
times. They have been so for ages, with
nobody sticking out their head, speaking
a piece of mind. Somehow, they have just
chosen to represent what the scene
really is all about - releasing.

Recently, we have seen an astonishing
effort in terms of releasing, shocking
virtually everybody on the boards.
Numerous are the occassions they have
been counted out as a concept with im-
portant members heading for the army.
That never bothered CHROMANCE. In true
spirit, they have instead chosen a sil-
ent approach, where the releases speak
for themselves. Looking at the charts
in any magazine can strengthen this
argument. PROPAGANDA for one, is im-
pressed with the effort and wish the
old concept the best of times in the
future. However, a public voice and
profile, would benefit the group trigg-
ering a continuous growth.

THE COMEBACK OF THE YEAR IS
         FINALLY BACK ON TRACK.

DUKE is the finest journalist you'll
find on the scene. He takes part of no
group and has employed a talented staff
stretching from various angles of the
scene. Taking back the magazine to the
market was a fact that pleased the wide
public. THE PULSE had become a trademark

for a wide circuit of readers who saw it
as a source for all categories. THE
PULSE had within a short time become the
bible of the market. The comeback, was
however slightly trembling. It seemed
as though DUKE with friends needed oil
in the machinery to get it going again.
With readers and involvment functioning
as oil, the last two issues have been
tremendously well written. Just recently
they have also involved a releasechart,
that is so evident to gain back ground
on the boardgroups. With that in mind,
it is only a matter of time, until THE
PULSE can take back the crown they put
down way back, when officially leaving
the market. Within 2 months, we are
positive it will be king again.

THIS MUST BE THE BEST FROM
     A NEW GENERATION OF MAGAZINES.

The only argument to weaken this award,
is the highly irregular basis on which
the magazine is released. It is at times
worse than the delays PROPAGANDA suffer-
ed from some years back. However, DOM-
INATION is a fine piece of journalism

and must thus be credited. JAZZCAT is
among others the newer generation in the
scene. Editing DOMINATION, you can eas-
ily see he is one those diehard addicts,
dedicated to the scene and every word
he writes. Unlike its sistermagazine
VANDALISM, DOMINATION is an independent
production, and pulls that through quite
remarkably without any hidden propa-
ganda.

What astonishes us, is the coverage.
DOMINATION is incredibly big and
connects all parts of the scene in a
juicy mix that takes ages to read. Add-
ing an awards-chapter, based on the idea
invented by PROPAGANDA (Ripping David,
haha!), improving it, we judge JAZZCAT
has a lot of will and energy to spend

on the new generation of magazines.
Amazingly enough, a lot of the text is
edited by JAZZCAT himself, making us
wonder how much time he really spends
on the scene, considering he is also
taking part of a very active group.

The outfit also deserves to be mention-
ed. HAIN/F4CG has created a very com-
fortable design, making it very easy
and friendly to read.

It is our firm belief that DOMINATION
will continue to rise in the charts
worldwide, with its broad lineup. As
said earlier however, it has to be
launched on a more reliable basis to
make the readers realize DOMINATIION
is a habit - and not just a magazine.

           OUR ANNUAL MECKA.

We need not say much more. For the first
time in years, the Danish event seems to
attract more people on the 64, unlike
the quite vague support previous years.
BYTERAPERS, REFLEX, FAIRLIGHT and NIPSON
are among the heavy names rumoured to
take part of the competition, which
gives a hint of a very exciting release
bonanza to close up 1995. PROPAGANDA and

F4CG are organizing an unofficial comp-
etition for graphics and music, some-
thing that has attracted a great deal
of popularity among 64-creators. It
would be a disaster to miss out on the
event of events this year, considering
all the plans that have been made.

64-people have the last few years grown
a very friendly and cozy harmony on
meetings, Denmark being one. It is one
of the few chances to attend and have
a jolly time with those foolish addicts
you cruise into daily on the net, the
boards, by mail and on the phone. It
is time we show the world what true
64-addiction is about.

         FOR FAILING TO DELIVER
          AFTER EXPECTATIONS.

HARDCORE seems to have come out slightly
hurt from the divorce with ONSLAUGHT.
Sadly enough, it is obvious that ON-
SLAUGHT was the energetic factor of the
two in terms of competing about wares.
Looking at the HARDCORE-staff, it is a
minor tragedy that they have not made
more impact on the field. HARDCORE are

a rowdy bunch of very talented people.
It might very well be they have chosen
to keep quite a low profile, unlike
other competetive labels. They might
really consider it fairly uninteresting
to rock the boat like a storm. However,
if this is not the case, they have com-
pletely failed to deliver after expect-
ations. Adding rumours about leading
RAMIREZ quitting the scene, the re-
release of FRED'S BACK 4 and the lack
of a public spot, or a board further
triggers the decline of HARDCORE. On
our behalf, we wish the team all the
luck in the world, knowing the abili-
ties of their staff.
