A d=b _____ AVANTGARDE ___________________'o'_ /_\ _____________________ Most Valuable Group _____________________ FOR MAINTAINING QUALITY AND PRINCIPLES. T There was a moment of silence at the scene, utter silence where the public wondered whether there really was a future for Avantgarde. It may sound ridiculous, at one point, but having stated their position clearly earlier last year, it was unusual see them leaning back a bit in the background for some short time. The involvment in the successful Tributeparty took its share of hard work, and awaiting possibilities to fix their games since the departure of PUDWERX, they saw no reason to release games for European standards only. Just that single, firm principle is worth a bow itself. And with Avantgarde fixing again, they have contributed the scene with their delicious balance of quality and sub- tility, stating they do indeed belong at the most intense platform. Still. ________________________________________ T S .. ___THE LAUNCH OF SHOUT ____________ ><__ _______________________ Most Invaluable Event _______________________ THE MOST HYPED RELEASE THIS YEAR DELIVERED WITH A FIASCO. F Few magazines have attracted such high interest before its launch. When it was clear REFORMATION from FAIRLIGHT was to merge with INGENIOUS BRAIN, people fol- lowed the event with curious eyes. This could very well have been the new brand covering all markets, not only focusing on either mail or boards. Swedish boards were interesting spots during these hectic months of impatient discussions. The talk of the town, one might say. And the hype faced no limits. During this time, the staff, who I must still point out is very competent, announced 12 different releasedates. None of them accurate to reality, of course. But still, we were to regard this as the new breed for FAIRLIGHT, who have had some problems to establish a fine rhythm in their work lately. The much talked about release still didn't appear. Not until the very day, some swappers in Germany got hands on the issue in advance spreading it with the wind to everybody. Still, FAIRLIGHT didn't have it. It was even spotted on the SCS*TRC Ftp-site, and somewhere out in Europe, there was one edition of the magazine being spread with a TRSI-intro in front of it. FAIRLIGHT still didn't have it. ENDURO, main editor had it, but it is still a mystery to us, why he never bothered to upload it to the Swedish board running under the FAIRLIGHT flag. Still, this was something that he'd been indoctrinating us with the past 3 months. Eventually the people in FAIRLIGHT found it slightly hard hiding their emotions in public, and instead of keeping the discussion at a rather discrete level, it came out in the open. At one point, ENDURO was even spotted calling saying 'Ok, ok, social life blew it this time..', to cover the fiasco that was now nothing but a fact. But the storm was not over quite yet. Through reliable sources, it had come to our knowledge, that the new hype and pride from FAIRLIGHT; SHOUT was going to become an independent magazine. A deal closed by ENDURO and the edit- ors in Germany. The case was taken out in public by PROPAGANDSTAFF, and we could hear the jaws dropping to the floor at various FAIRLIGHThomes, not slightest idea about the future of THEIR magazine. Confusion was at hand, and we can only hope the turbulence will settle. You'd offer a lot to see the buffers from the discussions about SHOUT in the FAIRLIGHT private area at WARE'S AQUARIUM. But on the other hand, it wouldn't be appropriate journalism from us at PROPAGANDA showing them to you. M d=b ________ MOTIV 8 ___________________'o'_ /_\ _________________________ Most Admirable Effort I _________________________ FOR TAKING PUBLIC RELATIONS TO THE HIGHER GROUND. I I have to admit it. I have been sceptic and reluctant about the progress with Internet. But, I did get that account, and despite the hype, I found myself quite pleased with what it could offer me. It has taken quite some time, but today, we, the people from the 64 are in masses on the net, and the scene DOES in fact face some new territories to explore. We have FTP-sites, a channel at IRC and a wide net of users, each one with the same interest. MOTIV8, a group that has had a hard time to establish a reliable concept through their time, have somewhat pioneered lately. Taking advantage of the new possibilities through the net, they have developed a customerfriendly marketing stunt, that is nothing but a high class service. Through a big userlist, the group communicates with all the people at the scene who attend the net. In reality this means, that everybody gets every release MOTIV8 does, automatically, take it or not. What could be more comfortable, just logging on finding a new file, without having to dabble with anything? The very same userlist functions as a channel where the group distributes pressreleases; news and happenings in MOTIV 8, members, boards and more. Not that it will interest everybody, but it is public relations/marketing as good as you can do it on the 64. It is my firm belief, that Internet can thrive the scene further, and with more people following MOTIV8's example, we'd take one big step further. ________________________________________ T S d=b _ TRC, SUCCESS and FOCUS ___________'o'_ /_\ __________________________ Most Admirable Effort II __________________________ FOR THE AN EVENT THAT KNOCKED SOCKS OFF THE GIANT ARRANGMENTS IN EUROPE. T The Dutch merge dared to oppose the hectic market of arranging meetings and parties. Not that they ever attempted on getting close sizewise to the counterparts in Denmark. X'95 stood in no way close to such an arrangement. Focusing on a cozy atmosphere, with support from the right people and groups (some execptions made) you come up with quite a winner of a get-together. Again, the people from the 64 could thrive from the mere fact that we attend for joy and laughs, unlike our compagnions on var- ious formats. SUCCESS, TRC and FOCUS can quite proudly take on a hat and rise for the occassion because this vitaminpill came to the rescue during a fairly dull spring, and with that in mind, we can only hope for it becoming an annual tradition. ________________________________________ A d=b __ AWARDS TO LOOK OUT FOR __________'o'_ /_\ _____________ ASSEMBLY'95 _____________ May very well be one of the most interesting events this year with high hopes for BYTERAPERS, BEYOND FORCE and other groups to release their awaited productions. _____________ ECTS'95 _____________ The London shows have always attracted diehard 64-sceners from Europe, and with last year in mind, we're bound for another success. ______________ BOD'S CD ______________ Long lost veteran from TALENT has com- piled a CD boasting massive amounts of Software, Demos and Utilities for the Commodore 64. We will cover more about this release next issue. ______________ TRIBUTE II ______________ It has been rumoured for some time now, and may very well see light of day. With more time ahead to gather people, and a smaller partyplace, it may very well become the 64-event of the year. ______________ THE PULSE ______________ Will it come back or not? Unfortunately much speaks of it not doing so, having problems gathering staff. However, the interesting project may very well come out with pompous fanfares. ________________________________________ PROPAGANDASTAFF
