  different things
  ----------------

the reason for us to skip 'reports'
was to avoid two columns, which had
to be filled by extraordinary stuff,
because articles and reports are the
most difficult stuff to get lately.
(as noone wants to write anything!)

you will also find reports (like the
  venlo report) in this sub...

          venlo-january-report
          --------------------

  the monthly venlo-meeting was visited
by a couple of guys although it was
one week delayed, so i didn't reckon
  with all the people.
as usual many amiga-dudes showed up,
  but surprisingly more c64's were
  present than (l)amigas !

as usual most of the people where
quite lame because the only reason
for them to come to the meeting is
  to copy some lame stuff...

it was the second time i drove by
myself in order to avoid the stupid
train, which costs a lot of money,
you also have to walk about 30 min
  to the meeting-place !

beside the hall itself, the snack-bar
was the second best visited place...
  as usual...

some nice people showed up this month
  who aren't available there periodly
like some transcom dudes from belgium
and france (lkj & co), ninja/dom,
a couple of action dudes, jack d./gp

georg bo sky/abary (yoo), and of
course a lot of other people which
  i either didn't know or didn't see...

the stuff spreaded there is not even
worth to be mentioned except this mag
  and some i+t stuff (hehehe)...

wait, also action and dom had a few
  datas to spread...

yes, i'll be there next time when
the x-elite dudes will show up again,
or i+t switzerland and of course
abary with some pictures for me...
  (hopefully!!!)

ach ja, straight after the meeting,
in the streets of venlo, we had some
  obstinate pursuer...it was spitfire
with his gang who was proud like hell
that he could drive to venlo by car
  for the first time...

hmm on the autobahn (highway) he
slammed on the gas and overtook us
by sending a friendly (?) greeting
  towards our vehicle...
too bad they didn't recognize the
'spalters sux' sticker we showed them
all the time when they still were
  behind us... the end !!
                           peter/talent

              predator ii
             -------------

the alien with the space dreadlocks
returns, this time in the future.
roger glover plays the character that
will remind you of mel gibson's role
in the 'lethal weapon' flick. dary
busey plays the part of a
co-ordinator of a high tech posse
that has been tracking the alien.
sorry, no arnie in this one...

ganga violence is high, drugs are
still a major source for plot. the

  gangs have three officiers pinned
down in the street and glover comes
along to save the day. plowing his
car in the midst of them, the cops
are able to get to the downed
officiers and the gang is forced
inside. once inside our alien friend
adds the gang members to his list of
  trophies.
needless to say this befuddles the
cops. that is the first of such
  happenings, and we're treated to
another slaughter later on, this time
the alien gets careless and leaves
  one of his weapons behind.

busey sets an elaborate trap for the
  alien and fails miserably! glover
does manage to pick up another of
aliens' weapons, which end up being
its downfall. if you've not seem the
movie, i'll stop here so as to not
  blow it for you.

rating: the storyline is weak. glover
          is no replacement for arnie.
more could have been done to
          make this more interesting...

                         rating: 73%

              flatliners
             ------------

  kiefer sutherlands, julia roberts and
kevin bacon play three med students
in this columbia picture that have
found a way to stop their hearts,
experience the 'going to the other
  side' and then coming back.
  unfortunately they bring something
  back with them...
some very good special effects in
this, and is more of a thinking movie
than a blood and guts type.
well worth the time to view it.

rating: bacon stepped in to this out
          'tremors' roberts is still
          on a roll with 'pretty
          woman' and sutherland shook
          the dust and bullets off
          from 'young guns ii' their
          chemistry works well!

                       rating: 89%

         sleeping with the enemy

robertsm trying to escape from her
husband, well to do investment banker
who turns out to be an abusive sort
and obsessed. after pulling up with
three years of physcial and emotional
  violence, lauro burney (roberts)
takes her own death and begins a new
life. some clues tip her old man,
  martin (patrick bergin) that she's
not as dead as she would like all to
believe. he tracks her down and
starts playing mind games with her.
  if you've seen 'fatal attraction'

  just reverse the roles.

rating: joe ruben did an excellent
          job with his flick.
          there's enough to keep all
on the edge, right up to the
          end. you'll like that!

                       rating: 90%

 reviews by deltar/tsm

  here's another of those radical
board reviews, this time we had a
closer look at the mad mad world...

  board : mad mad world
  group : paramount
  sysop : damage inc.
  number: XXXXXXXXXXXX

first a little introduction given by
  the sysop himself:

'i put the board up about 3.5 years
ago, i was nfi hq at first, but it
only lasted about 2 weeks, then i met

karate kid and tricket of dominators
and decided to go with dom.
macro nit & dogfriend were the two
  main callers at that time...
i was dom for about 2 years, then the
lame english dudes got in dom. the
thought that they were so good (where
are they now ?? jade+icecube, hehe)
well, anyway, i kicked dom off and
about 2-3 weeks later i got paramount
  and that lasted until now,

i get anywhere from 20-50 calls a day
(on a good day), all the cool euros
have n/a and a lot of the usa-dudes

  have n/a too.

  on the board i have 1-81, 1-71, 3-41,
  1-8250 (2.5 megs)'

  besides the usual subboards, also
an amiga- and a code-sub is available

for the newest uploads are usually
  made by the paramount members,
especially sting who carries all the
  0 dayers to the board.
the user-list shows a lot of people,
many of them didn't call for years(?)
(ed. i had a good love when i saw
   stingray/crazy there)

  nevertheless, some elite people are
calling the board, but i also don't
want conceil that about 30-50% of the
  posts are made by paramount(pandora)
  members only!

the board could certainly use some
  fresh blood!

  judgement
  ---------
  users 60%
  sysop's character 70%
  subboards/posts 50%
  speed 89%
  total.............67%

yes, we also got something very
original in this issue, it is georg
bo-sky of abary reporting about the
  american and german beer-scene !!

in case you are interested you
certainly know what to press ?!

  'hello!
this is georg bo-sky with a report
about one of my hobbies, that is...

  ...beer !

first i'll give you a little story,
  how the business began.

beer has been brewed in germany since
the beginning of the 9th century. in
1516 a decree on quality was passed
which states the only hops, malt,
yeast and water should be used for
brewing. this still applies and the

  following method is used.
  brewer's malt-obtained from barley
  after soaking, germination and
roasting- is mixed with water and
hops which flavout the must, and
boiled. yeast is added and the must
is left to ferment. today about
  1400 breweries in germany produce
more than 4000 kinds of beer which
vary in taste, colour and alcohol
  content. in restaurants and pubs
  (german: kneipen), beer is generally
  on draught, popular beers koelsch,
alt, export, pils (my favourite one)
maerzen and beer from wheatgerm (yo

deejay and cure, hope you know what
i mean) are light and 3-4% proof.

strong beers are bockbeer and doppel-
bock. they are rich in malt and
5-6% proof. these are light in the
  south (munich, stuttgart), stronger
and more bitter in the rhineland
  (cologne, dortmund) and sweeter in
  berlin.
dark beers (roasted malt) may seem
  rather sugary (rauch-, bock-, and
  malzbier).
on the next page you'll find a hit-
list of my favourite beers :

          hitlist of good beers
         -----------------------

  10. rheder pils and tuborg
  09. krombacher
  08. bitburger
  07. einbecker
  06. pilsener urquell
  05. herforder
  04. koenig
  03. budweiser
  02. veltins
  and the winner is...

        01. wuerzburger hofbraeu'

ok, and here's the very informative
  report on the american beer-scene...

  'concentration in us beer-market;
the three 'bigs' rule 57% percent of
  the market;
lack of money in the small companies

  the american beer market (volume
  almost 200 mill. barrels = 217 mill.
hektoliter is dominated by the 3 big
  companies of that trade anheuser
  busch, miller and coors.
they hold meanwhile 75% of the market

the german beer market reverse mainly
to medium size companies. their total
output 1990 was 104.4 mill hectoliter

  the concentration in the us-market
will continue because owing to the
recession the small companies can not
  afford the high advertisments-costs
  and the rigid price-dumpings.

the problems of the small companies
make the big companies growing even
  faster.

  anheuser-busch, the biggest brewery,
increased the output by 7% in the
last year to totally 101.2 mill hl,
the output of miller, who belongs to
  the phillip-morris group, was 50,8
mill hl, and the sales increase of
  coors was 9%.

  the activities of foreign breweries
are not very important in the us-
market, they keep only 4.5% of the
  market. additionally the low us-
  dollar prevents larger sales of
  european importers, mainly heineken
  (denmark), tuborg (denmark), becks

  (germany), loewenbraeu (bavaria).

more over there are some breweries of
  canada, mexico and japan.

the americans however, prefer by and
by the light beer which is a similar
  development like in europe.
  meanwhile almost every third bottle
of beer brewn in the states is a
  light beer, also beers without
  alcohol show increasing sales.'

as everybody knows i'm a big beer
fan. for example i don't drink beer
  as much as i can...no, i'm also a
  collector of beerlabels too.

everyone who reads this, is called up
to send me these lables from pils
  beer bottles.
please put the bottles over night
into some water, on the next morning
the lables are looser from the glass.
please dry it up, and send it with
  some new stuff to :
            XXXXXXXXXXX
            XXXXXXXXXXX
            XXXXXXXXXXX

uff, very dry stuff, but there are
  certanly some interested people
among the readership (well, i'm sure
  there always are some!)
