       interview with pudwerx/atc
            by archmage/nec!
 --------------------------------------
              m: mamba
              p: pudwerx
 --------------------------------------
m: yoo dude, what is your real name?

 p: jason voorheese.

 m: how old are you?

p: too old for this shit... no really
    i am 29.

m: how long have you been into
    pirating?

p: over the modem, about 2 1/2 years.

m: how long have you been cracking?

p: i was cracking for about a year
bofore i got into modem pirating
    so would say 3 1/2 years... i
would go to the software rental
shoppe and rent software, take it
home and crack it, then i would
    return it.

m: did anyone ever teach you how
    to crack?

p: no, acually i learned on my own.
i had alot of free time. all it
takes is a lot of spare time and
a lot of patience, and a lot of
    getting it wrong...

m: how did you get into atc?

p: i used to be a big shot on a
local lamer board and then i
    discovered that the lighthouse
(atc hq) was local to me and i
got real good at ripping him off.
then i decided to logon and tell
cheapshot that i was a cracker
interested in trying out for atc.
cheapshot said sure, we just lost
our cracker (brute force). so i
auditioned and the rest is history!

m: how did you get to your handle?

p: to make a long story longer, it
    basically started from using pud
    for highscore intitals on video
games, i thought pud would be
funny and unique as it is sometimes
used slang for your dick. then
one day i was at a bar, and i got
high score on a video game that a
    waitress had high score on
previously. the game let you use
more than three chars for high
score, so i entered pudwerx, when
the waitress saw that she had
gotten knocked out of first place,
she stood up in a bar full of
    people and yelled 'who's pudwerx?'
then i started laughing and yelled
back 'mine does'. then i said to
    myself, now that's a handle!

m: haha, cool! what was your thoughest
    crack?

p: probably t.k.o. from accolade. at
the time they had just used a new
    form of rapid-lock.
m: what was the best program you put
    out?

p: fire king. the program was so well
done, i almost felt bad about
    cracking it (almost...ha).

m: what's your three alltime favourite
    games?

 p: elite, m.u.l.e. and ultimate
    wizard.

m: do you plan to go amiga?

p: no, i think it's an awfully expen-
    sive game player.
m: do you see an end for the 64 in the
    near future?

p: no, there are too many users out
there for them to abandon it yet.
but, as we all can see, the soft-
    ware manufacturers aren't rushing
to make software for the 64 as
fast as they do for other computers
now. i see this as a continuing
    trend.

m: thanks for the interview, this has
been fun. do you have anything to
    say in closing?

p: to those of you are interested in
learning how to crack, i would
recommend starting with a few books
like mapping the 64, ml for the
64 by jim butterfield, and kracker
jax revealed. all you need is the
    time and the determination.

     press 'plus' for the interview
               with adf!

       "

m: yoo andrew, tell me something about
    yourself, please!

a: well, my name is andrew and i'm 17
years old. i live in ferrara/italy.
currently, i'm studying to get a
    diploma of electronic engineer. i
like going to the cinema (mainly
    horror and adventure movies). my
    favourite sports are: football,
    ski and volleyball.

m: how do you pass your time, when you
aren't in front of the computer?

a: i like going out with my friends.

m: what's your favourite movie, drink,
    food and magazine?

 a: uff, i like exorcist i, house i,
the naked gun and indy iii. i eat
spaghetti (of course) and i drink
coke. my favour mag is pirates.

 m: when was f4cg formed?

 a: hmm, i was formed in 1983.

m: how did you get into?

a: everybody in f4cg were my friends.
there was always a challenge bet-
ween me and mao and they tried to
be the fastest. that shit couldn't
continue, the the two groups had to
became one. the new group got the
name of f4cg, because it was
    already well known!

m: aha that was the reason why you
guys didn't invent a new groupname.
oh by the way, how did you get your
    handle?

a: adf are the initials of my name and
    surname.

m: tricky idea. what do you do in
    f4cg?

 a: i'm cracker, modemtrader (i can
also code and sometimes i do intros
    for my group)

m: how did you scene got to hear from
    you?

a: in 1987 me and mao built hscg. we
had fast and cool originals, so in
1988 we started trading and in a
small time we got a lot of con-
tacts. in 1989 we joined f4cg and
    we reached the top.

m: did you ever get in troubles with
    the police?

a: in italy there is not a law against
piracy (at least for"c64), but we
have to keep attention to the main
    italian software spreader. anyway
    i have never been caught.

m: lucky guy! why the hell do you use
    your computer for illegal shit?

a: because we can sell programs to a
lot of people in italy so we get
money doing something we like much!
but this is not all: computer is
our world, cracking is our job!

m: haha cool! what is your opinion
    about the scene?
a: i like this scene, there are a lot
of cool guys, maybe the old one was
better even because there was no
amiga! i think amiga is the main
reason of the fall of 64! when
amiga was not so important, 64 was
    number one, no doubt.

m: right i tjink amiga is destroying"
the 64 world! when did you get your
    first computer?
"
 a: i bought my 64 in 1982 but i didn't
    used it seriously till 1987.

m: what are your best friends in the
    scene?
a: all f4cg members in italy, germany
    and belgium. martin/crazy, mr. lee,
    asterix/fantasy, some other ameri-
cans, tom of the dead axiom/bb!

m: thanx, what do you think you are
going to do in the future. do you
    want to quit computing?

 a: yes, i can't continue cracking and
copying for all my life, anyway
i'll stop within the end of 1990.

m: you said you like the scene, but
" the older was better. what would
you change to improve the current
    scene?
a: i would remove all recrackers!

 m: do you like americans?

a: there are cool people in the states
    modemtrading and phreaking are
great things. i also like tje euro-
peans, some are cool, other suck!

"m: do you ever want to become legal,
    before you quit?

 a: no, never!

m: yeah, it must be boring, right? did
you ever regret all the years of
    illegality?
a: no, it had been a great experience.

m: what in your eyes, is a lamer?
   "
a: a lamer is somebody, who says he
can do shit, but je can't do any-
    thing.

m: do you have any things you still
    want to reach?

 a: nothing concerning the computer.
    there's nothing, i think, i didn't
    already reached.

m: great. who is the best cracker and
    what is the best group?
 a: cracker: mr.z/triad (old scene)
             antitrack (new scene)
    group: triad (old scene)
           711 (new scene)

 m: do you like demos?
                                 "
a: i think demos are a total waste of
time. i like them but i'll never
    code one!

a: and what do you think about
    crackers?

m: there are now a lot of crackers,
but not all are so good. i think
the best have been or still are:
    mr.z/triad, gollum/flt, mr.zeropage
    of red sector, antitrack/711, mr.
lee/711, snacky/gp and of course me

m: which is the best group ever?

 a: 711.

m: did ever something very bad
    happened to you?
                                  "
 a: yeah, when hscg died.

m: do you have a great wish?

a: to have a good health and win in a
    lottery.
m: do you want to send out some
    hello's?

a: read the scrolls of my intros in
front of our cracks and maybe there
will be a message for you.

m: ok dude, let's finish that shit.
you have"a last word to say?

 a: f4cg number 1!

m: thank you very much for the inter-
    view.
