*<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<+% * THE INTERVIEW ;; * ;; ><$<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<_; <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<_ an interview with ANO of PADUA <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< please tell me your real name? - my real name is FRANK MICHLICK ...and your actual age is? - i'm 17 years old. i'm going to celebrate my 18th birthday at HZ's party this easter. what's your job in PADUA? - i'm a coder, a swapper and i'm also trying to do some kind of organizating in our group. i presume that you've not only been in PADUA during your time in the scene, so please tell us about the other groups you've been in. - i've been in 5 groups before we formed padua. first of all, i started in NPS, a very lame group, where i and two friends of mine did all the work and the others were playing games, but that was a long time ago. we got angry about this and formed TMI. after being around for some time, we were asked to join CALTEX of BEASTIE BOYS (in their good times!) and so we did. but a week later, X-RATED was formed and me and my friends joined them. after some time we left them again and formed ELECT. after some changes we re-joined x-rated but we could not get happy in that group so we formed PADUA. i wonder, how many members are there in PADUA? - we are six members at this very moment, but this might change. member status: lubber, roman, salem, steve, tomahawk and me, ANO. so tell me, when did you bought your commodore 64? - about 4-7 years ago. ho^??0???2-_????0_ 1?0?_??:0.0ao k_:?_ am i famous? we had our first small success with our first demo at HZ's 1990, but that demo was not spread good enough. then we released TORTURE, which was spread a lot and most people seemed to like it! then we released our tool disk. that's not so many releases, but we always try to do some special kind of style and design. what's your plans for the near future, then? - to get on a high place at HZ's 1991 (that's what we hope, but it's gonna be very hard). we try to get our demo for that party finished in time. it'll be called simply, 'TORTURE II' and we are also coding some small things to make money. maybe work on a conversation for digital marketing. which is your absolutley BEST pals in the scene? - all members of PADUA effy of the guardian angels bazooka & leonardo of creation cycleburner of megastyle inc odin of science 451 greyrat & pumpkin of lower lvl and some of my contacts... many dudes complain about the charts, and i agree that they can be really shitty. so i want you to pick out THE BEST of these three categories: coder, musican and a graphixer. - I TRIED HARD to find someone to name, but everytime i got a name in my mind, i'm thinking of another one. i'm sorry, but that means i'm not able to mention anyone here. exactly, how many hours do you spent infront of your computer? - PHEW, that's quite different. from 0 hours to 7 hours, but normally 3. what do you think about the actual scene then? - i really don't like it that much. some people are still coding demos, which looks like demos from 1987. i also don't like that there are TOO MANY magazines, 'cause only a few mags are able to get enough votes to do fair charts. i don't like LAMERS, who just copy the charts of a mag and send it in to a magazine just to get their address printed in there. theres also too much boasting, some groups should just prove their abilities insted of boasting. and i dont like all those wars going on. what do you think about the illegal scene, about cracking? - cracking is FUN, if you get good orginals. but a lot of those games, which been released novadays, are not worth being cracked because no one wants to play those stupid games! cracking those games seems like time-wasting to me and that's why we in PADUA won't crack anymore. anyway i wonder why some people are thinking that cracking just means to put an intro infront of a game. what about level- packing, level-linking and a useful trainer? ofcourse there are still some good cracking- groups around, but there are also a lot who just call themselves 'CRACKER' without having any abilities to crack. we all know that the c64 rules, but what about the AMIGA then? - i like the amiga and i'll probably start coding on it, as soon as i get it back from the police. but ofcourse i'll stay on the 64 as long as it's alive, because i think the amiga-scene is much lamer than the 64-scene. magazines seems to me populair these days. are you guys gonna release one too? - we decided to do some kind of a mag, but it will not include any charts or news. it'll be called GOSSIP and it will contain our personal opinion to the actual themes in the computer and real life. but it won't be so serious everytime. subjects will be changed alot. just wait and see and remember this will not be a mag, this will be PADUA-GOSSIP! when were talking about mags, i wonder which is your favourite one? - that's very difficult. in design i like mamba. but in text i like for example BILD ZEITUNG more. i think i cannot decide for one mag here! so, what about HOTSHOT then? - i also like hotshot very much, it sure belongs to one of the best mags! (gee thanks! ed.) please describe a lamer. - that's very difficult, because everyone got their own definition for the word LAMER. for me lamer is someone who ripp, recracks, releases/sends very old things from other groups, someone who is boasting all the time. etc etc do you often visit these very famous copy parties? - until now i've only been to VENLO(once), to the HZ's 1990 and to some small meetings. it's very expensive to go somewhere from here where i live, because it's always a big distance. but we'll show up on some more parties, as soon as ROMAN get's his driving licence. do you have any idols or someone you look up to in the scene? - no, i don't have any special. i just admire people who are able to do vector-stuff, but i'm also working on that. i also admire people who are able to keep 200 contacts without getting bored, because i would not have any fun in copying discs all the time. is there really something you would like to change in the scene these days? - i would like to stop all WARS, some MAGS and some GROUPS! now some questions about your private life. first, what are you doing in you spare time? - flying model-airplanes, going to 'normal' parties, playing the piano or just loitering around with some of my friends and in winter-time i'm also doing some ice-skating and sometimes skiing aswell. do you have a GIRLFRIEND? - unfortunatetly not at the present moment(snif!). what's your favourite: food: PIZZA movie: can't decide country: all scandinavian ones animal: DOGS magazine: can't decide game: TETRIS and adventures music: can't decide sport: table-tennis and cycling what makes you really happy and really angry? HAPPY: - being with friends - finishing a new product on the computer - earning money with computer-programs - phoning for hours - reading a good book ANGRY: - wars(all kinds) - the cops - the politicians - high phonebills - stupid teachers - the speed of the post - people contacting me by sending old stuff - people without humour - and those who take scrolltexts too serious great! now please tell us the three things you would like to bring with you on a desert island in the MEDITERRANEAN? - my computer equipment, some friends and a helicopter. and at last, would you like to say something to the public? - yes. i hope to meet all my freinds at the HORIZON party! may there be no more stupid wars! PEACE! and do not take computer-life to serious cause you might loose the connection to reality. and at last i would like to say thanks to morpheus for making this interview, because it was fun to answer and it made me think about some interesting things! ________________________________ we thank ANO for this really cool interview! you WILL meet me at HZ's. that's for sure! ________________________________ * ;*<<;><<;*<<<* ;*<<;><<; * ;* ; ;* * ;* ; ; *<<;* ; ;><<;*<<;* ; ; * ;* ; ; ;* ;* ; ; * ;* ; ; ;* ;* ; ; * ;><<_ ;<<<_* ;><<_ ; * ;
