american rockers skid row will be
releasing an ep of cover versions next
month called 'b sides ourselves'.
it will contain homages to, among
others, judas priest, kiss, rush,
the ramones and jimi hendrix!
the skid's frontman, sebastian bach,
meanwhile turned up to watch his idol
dee snider-formerly of twisted sister
and now fronting a band called
widowmaker - preform in new jersey.
bach jumped up on stage and launched
into the ts cuthem 'you can't stop
rock'n'role' with snider

tribute concers, queen have released
breakdown of funds raised by the show,
helt at wembley stadium on aprial 20th.
although the concert was intended
primarily to raise aids awareness, and
the box office receipts at wembley
statium did little more than cover
costs of the event, significant sums
were raised thoug international
broadcasts and merchandise.
in europa, combined tv rights, radio
rights, merchandise sale and additional
donations raised around one million,
threehundret thousand dollas for
mercury phoenix trust.
the trust will bigin distributing funds
to a.i.d.s. charities in the autumn.
in america, fox television donated
850.000 dollas to 135 different
charities across america.
mtv america donated it's advertising
revenre from their concert transmission
totalling 100.000 dollas to three aids
charities.
in addition, several artists preforming
at the tribute including...

def leppard, have announced that they
wish to make donations from records and

tribute concert.

get to arizona, public enemy's
forthcoming video, haza shade of
criminal, pulls no punches in it's
uncompromising interpretation of
american history. the track is to be
included on a forthcoming public enemy
album titled "greatest misses"!
hazy shade of criminal is scheduled for
release in europe towards the end of
september. meanwhile, oliver stone's
new la gangland movie, south central,
will feature a track by spectrum city,
the rap group chuck d was a member of
before joining public enemy!

the cure pull out of mtv's vma

the cure have been forced to pull out
of this year's mtv video music awards
due to fatigue and sikness.
in an official statement the band said
that following the recording of their
current album, wish, and still only
half way through their world tour, they
were in, "desprate need of a rest and
some personal time".
a virus had affcted all of the band
while they were out in australia and
new zealand over the winther, and they
have full diares untill this december.
a period of enforced rest has been
scheduleed for the first three weeks of
september. the band wish to apologise
to all mtv viewers and fans and hope to
do something special for us hopefully
in november!

record companies across america have
begun scretinising the lyrics
forthcoming rap tracks, with a view to
censoring poten trially offensive
tracks, in order to avoid repeating the
storm created by ice-t controversial
track, cop killer!
billboard magazine reports that ice-t's
record label, warner brothers, have
asked another of their rocording
artists, juvenile committe, to
re-record a song called, justice for
the hood, after hearing lyrics written
in the wake of los angeles riots.
meanwhile, the manager of samoan
rappers boo-yaa tribe claims that
another branch of warber recoards have
put pressure on the group to drop a
track from their new rp shoot'em down.
apparently, the track dosn't actually
advocate the shooting of anybody but
was inspired by la riots, wea denny the
charge! and finally, american rapper
intelligent hoodlem, who records on the
a and m label, has been forced to drop
a track called bullet from his album,
black rage, after the label president
told him that company would not release
the track which advocates the shooting
of police if they shoot at you!

simply red, have joined forces to fight
a decision by record companies to slash
royalties on music released on the new
digital compact cassette format! record
labels are arguing that the cost of the
new technology should be shared by the
artists but the band's managers are
planning to hold a unique emergency
summit in manchester next month to
discuss how to resist the recoard
companies decision.
dire straits endorsed dcc on their last
tour, but they habe now refused to
release their material on the format
and they've pulled out of the dcc
launch in the autumn. mark knopfler is
said to be furious at the proposed
procong of the dcc at around 30 dollas,
a price he thinks is far too high.
