H:;K H:;K GLMNOP GLMNOP QRSTUV charts... what a hell! QRSTUV W<YZÅÄ W<YZÅÄ ÓÖ by tch/brutal ÓÖ Ü !Ü Ü !Ü "#$% "#$% &'89 &'89 ---------------------------------------- ooh man! one of the worst things these days are for sure "the charts"!!! every magazine has its own (mega)lists and nowhere they are the same!! lots of people try to find ways to make better charts, but nobody really managed!! there were several ideas, like the one from 'the freak/rebels' and from the magazine 'internal' but in my opinion no real good system has been brought!! lots of mags make "chart-compilations" but this aint really working either,as still the same groups appear as in the normal charts,so it're still groups for which people have been voting!!! 'sh0ck' rejected the votesheets and simply gives points for the first- releases and with this they create their cracking-groups chart... you don't need to be a fortune-teller to know there would be protest towards this kind of charts! okay,i'm here to bring you my idea to getting 'better' charts... if you swapped with me about 2 years ago,you might remember i had a crazy and complicated way of making my ranks... now i created a same kind of system to decide which guys and groups do best in cracking... it is not as complicated as my ranks- system,it is all about numbers!! okay, here i go... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- the games out nowadays could be divided into two big categories... ...'single' and 'multi'-file games... and multies are "tape" or "disk"-games then there are ofcourse different disk loaders, like irq, hidden file etc... the difficulty in cracking a game often depends on what kind of a loader the game uses! a game which uses a track'n' sector loader is 'harder' to crack than a game with the normal '$ffd5'-loader. for all these different games i've made a points-system,which looks like this... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- loader single file multi file ---------------------------------------- no loader 5 10 normal $ffd5 --- 10 tape-loader --- 15 irq-loader --- 20 t&s-loader --- 25 cartridge 5 30 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- you can ofcourse follow me till now... ofcourse this is not all there is to make a good system!!! this is just a small part of it... now the part comes where we need your help! we need all versions of games!! but it will not be like the "gamers guide"... we won't print lists of the games!! what we will do is this... we give points to every version! we'll also make lists on length, but don't start using shorties again!! there'll also be given points for the intro.. this will be from -5 to +5.. yep,if you use an intro that only uses the rom-chars,you'll get points from -4 till 0! if you use no intro,it'll give you automaticaly -5 points!!! the rest gets points from 1 till 5!! an intro like the new one from the arcade+deadline coop will get +5!!! if a game is imported to the states, also the extra intro will be rated!!! notice that the coop intro between nei+legend will be awarded twice! further more the different versions will be compared on length to decide what amount of points the version will get... every single trainer will be awarded with 5 points, level skippers with 7 points,end-scene showers with 3!! all kind of 'double cheats' will be awarded with 1 or -1 point!! a double-cheat like "press r/s to fill up energy" gives you 1 point while one like "wanna have 99 lives" gives -1! this is due to the fact that the first one is of a little use, while the other one is really bah!! if a trainer like 'unlimited time' is activated during the game, but also during the time-downcounting for extra points, the trainer is useless and will give you -5!! other specials like iffl, mfl, pictures, docs,highscore-savers,game intros give points as given down here... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- extra points ---------------------------------------- game-intro included 10 picture(s) included 5 (a pic!) highscore-saver installed 5 usefull documents 5 iffl/mfl 5 iffl/mfl+scanner 10 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- if a game features an irq-loader and in the crack also an irq-loader is used, it will give you 5 extra points as well!! but if the game uses a track'n'sector loader and the crack uses the same loader,it will give you -5 points,as the game aint really cracked!! the last thing more is that an ntsc/pal fixed version gets 10 points extra, and the first-release will be given 5 pts for single-files and 10 pts for multi! to give a summary of this all,i'll print all lists under eachother... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- loader single file multi file ---------------------------------------- no loader 5 10 normal $ffd5 --- 10 tape-loader --- 15 irq-loader --- 20 t&s-loader --- 25 cartridge 5 30 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- intro(s) points ---------------------------------------- no intro -5 shorty -4/0 normal 1/5 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- trainer points ---------------------------------------- normal 5 double (usefull) 1 double (useless) -1 level-skip 7 intro-skipper 3 end-scene viewer 3 partly working -5 totaly disfunctional -10 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- extra points ---------------------------------------- game-intro included 10 picture(s) included 5 (a pic!) highscore-saver installed 5 usefull documents 5 iffl/mfl 5 iffl/mfl+scanner 10 ntsc/pal fix 10 first-release (single) 5 first-release (multi) 10 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- that's all there is to it!! i hope all of you will support us on realising these real fair charts, and if i have forgotten anything,or you think the points are unfair, write me a letter and tell what you wanna see changed!! you can ofcourse also send a paper containing all information about your cracks, but be sure to write everything down as you'll only get at yourself if you forget anything!! the lists that will come out, will be lists with all names that got any pts. of every game, the version with most points will be shown with the name of the cracker and cracking-group (and importer+group)... this system will hopefully be successful as i think it has a good chance!! okay, that's all for this time.. you can send the cracks to any of our addresses or simply ul them to the board mentioned in "for anything..." ----------------------------------------
