From C64 Diskmag Wiki
"DEMO REVIEWS" part 2 by tch of brutal ---------------------------------------- welcome to the second part of the demo reviews... in this part i've reviewed these ones: "GOK PRUTAL" by CONIC "BRUTALITY" by LIGHT "ANIMO" by HOUSE DESIGNS enjoy reading these reviews... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "GOK PRUTAL" 'GI DEMN I A 0RE!' CONIC ---------------------------------------- intro:a cool conic picture with a dragon flashes onto the screen... a cool music is playing and on the bottom of the screen is an all border unexpanded scroller with the standart commodore charset. ---------------------------------------- part1:a flexible zoom showing "conic" with over it bouncing vectors (like the bobs of panoramic d.) in the sideborder. under this all is a big and ugly scroller going for too slow and also restarts too early! the music by drax is quite nice! ---------------------------------------- part2:here we got something new'n cool! 8 'burning' bobs are moving on the screen with on top of it a 24 sprite multiplexer which also goes in the upper border. under the bobs is a very cool and colourful "conic" logo with a bouncing x-expanded spritescroll. the tune fits the part very well! ---------------------------------------- part3:the music starts playing and some info is given. now the screen flashes and a picture appears. it's a nice girl with some snake in the woods. space will give you the second picture. this one looks like a photo of the pre-historical age with some dinos and a vulcano. space will give you the first picy again. both pics were done by mc-tech. to skip the part you've to press arrow left. ---------------------------------------- part4:they called it colour-chaos. and that's the best name for it! 120 eci colours move on the screen in some fucking strange ways. over this goes an 8-sprite dysp. the music is strange, but pretty nice! ---------------------------------------- part5:the end! an hires upscroller which fills the entire screen, with some cool style and animated firework in the background. the music is very cool and a typical 'the end'-tune. ---------------------------------------- ratings ---------------------------------------- coding by ricky! is rated 8.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- graphics by ricky,knox,mc-tech is rated 7.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- musics by mc-tech,drax is rated 8.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- design by conic! is rated 8.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the overall is 7.8 out 10 ---------------------------------------- this demo was dedicated to mc-tech and partly ment as an anti-brutal demo. the guys that realised this demo are at the moment no members of the CONIC clan anymore... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "BRUTALITY" LIGHT ---------------------------------------- this demo won the first price at the bonzai xmas party in års/denmark. it sure is a cool one and here's the review... ---------------------------------------- intro:a short text flash gives some crap but then a cool brutality logo pops from down of the screen to the top. now the usual light demo-intro starts... you know how it looks like. the other new thing in it is the really cool tune from bapalander! ---------------------------------------- part1:the part starts with a fli-scroll and a counter in the downborder. soon there are three fli-scrolls on the screen with a nice charset and several small logos in it. then a 'light' logo gets pixeled onto the screen with a 12 sprites multiplexer over it (also in upper border!) with different colours. when the timer reaches zero, you can press space and the logo will be replaced by four four-coloured fractals. space will give you the logo back and the sequence starts all over again. a very nice tune by bluez is here for the audial pleasure. commodore key will leave part. ---------------------------------------- part2:the first raytracing part of this demo is here. it counts its 97 animations in about 11 seconds and then it will repeat them with normal speed. the part is built by a pretty big picture with above it the usual strange, but cool flamingo dycp. also on the screen is a 32 (i think) sprites multi- plexer. on the bottom of da screen is the raytracer above some 3d white-black rasters. commodore key will switch between the raytracer sinusses and while calculating the dycp and multiplex will dissappear. the music fits the part very well! ---------------------------------------- part3:a very cool logo by scooby! a 1x1 scroller with in the middle a little circle-swing to give it some style. above the logo are realtime filled animating shadow vectors with lots of objects. another great tune to finish the part! ---------------------------------------- part4:a big fli techtech with under it a big dysp and mega dycp over a cool mountain chain bitmapper. outrageous music by bapalander. ---------------------------------------- part5:a nice logo by scooby with a 1x1 scroller underneath. a raytracer is on top of da screen and is built up by 32 frames pre-calculated on the amiga. a nice tune by page is playing! when you press space, the ball bounces away in a lame way! ---------------------------------------- part6:2 balls in the downborder, bouncing against eachother. a small but great "light"-logo plots on the screen, down is a 2x2 scroll with a very old charset. the main effect of this last part is a tv-vector. the box is real- time while the objects are pre- calculated. another old thing in this part is the music which was done by danko! ---------------------------------------- CODING by waco, rash, yabbe, flamingo is rated 9.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- GRAPHICS by scooby, goblin is rated 7.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- MUSICS by bapalander, bluez, page, danko is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- DESIGN by light! is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the OVERALL is 8.4 out 10 ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "ANIMO" HOUSE DESIGNS ---------------------------------------- this demo won the first price at the silicon party and i don't hope there were any demos worse than this one as that would really be a shame. here you've got the review of the 'demo'... ---------------------------------------- intro:a caterpillar flashes onto the screen. later a house designs logo flashes around it. then a 1x1 scroller appears with some crashing letters. after the text has finished, the scroll flashes away and the logo and caterpillar get black. the tune is strange!! ---------------------------------------- part1:sprite stars scroll to the right. underneath is waterplatform with a dycp bouncing on it and at the end the letters drop into the water. after some time a nice house logo appears. the tune is also nice. ---------------------------------------- part2:after loading,a "loading" logo swings on the screen with a nice tune. i think this was ment to be a loader, but for some reasons it didn't turn out to be one. after some time,it will go to the next 'part'. ---------------------------------------- part3:a nice "the end"-picture is on the screen and with that all the visable action is said. the only 'special' thing is the pretty cool digi-tune. ---------------------------------------- CODING by chesoner, lead is rated 2.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- GRAPHICS by chesoner, karl, shez is rated 7.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- MUSICS by no-excess,slide is rated 6.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- DESIGN by house design is rated 4.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the OVERALL is rated 5.1 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the only thing that was a bit advanced were the graphics!! the coding,if there was any,was old fashioned and nothing was hard to do for any coder! the DESIGN is so low due to the facts that the 'loader' is not loading and the endpart is only a picture with music. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- for more reviews, yes seven more, you'll have to load the next 2 demo reviews!
