This time Funxilla is interviewed by
Carnage/Role/Spiders-Crew/U-turn.
I think that most of you allready have
seen or heard his name somewhere, or
even swap with him, it might be
interesting to read....

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
LET'S START WITH INTRODUCING YOURSELF!!!

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Always the same way to start an
interview hehe.. Well, incase people
don't know.. I'm a swapper who tries to
send out every day. In my free time
(that is when I don't feel like sending
out mostly..), you might see me on my
racing bike somewhere around the
country. I'm 23 years since july, I
was born in IJmuiden/Netherlands where
I still live today. I hate introductions
let's go on..

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WHEN DID YOU FIRST GET IN TOUCH WITH THE
C64 AND DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE WAS
A SCENE?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
I think it was in '83 when my dad came
home with a C64. I definately didn't
know anything about a scene by then,
all I knew was how to play games like
Fort Apocalypse, Zaxxon etc. All with a
tapedeck! I first read anything about
the scene in a magazine called "Mamba"
which was in a discbox from a friend
of mine. I entered the scene much later
in 1994.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
HOW DID YOU COME TO THE HANDLE AND HAS I
IT GOT A DEEPER MEANING?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
It hasn't got a deeper meaning but to me
it has got a deep feeling. One of the
funkiest dudes on earth is probably
Bootsy Collins, also known as Bootzilla.
as I'm into Funk I decided to call
myself Funxilla!!!

According to Crusher's little sister I
have the handle of a witch, that's her
interpretation of course.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WELL YOU'RE A SWAPPER, BUT YOU ARE NOW
ONLY IN ONE CREW, WHY IS THAT, BECAUSE I
KNOW YOU WHERE IN MORE GROUPS AT THE
SAME TIME ONCE, SO WHY ONLY ONE CREW?
I MEAN: ISN'T IT BETTER TO BE IN MORE
THAN ONE GROUP WHEN YOU'RE A SWAPPER?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
It doesn't matter in how much groups I
would be, the amount of wares are
no problem for me. As far as the ruling
co-op is concerned, they asked me in one
of the condition to drop my other groups

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SCENE NOWADAYS,
WHAT'S THE SITUATION IN YOUR GROUP AND
DO YOU LIKE THAT?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Well, I can't compare this scene with
the old times, as I have been in only 2
years myself. I look really positive
towards the scene, the legal stuff
ofcourse, although we receive to much
collections of this and that..
collections are simple, many demos today
are still kicking. Perhaps the
quantity/quality balance has turned over
to the firstnamed, but I'm a swapper,
should I care? Also, the dead of some
highly ranked mags is not a bad sign for
the (mag)scene; more mags are born, they
haven't got the same quality, but when
you look at first issues of some mags
which are populair now a days then you
will find poor outfits too, but that's
about the scene at the moment...

About SCS*TRC, when you look at our
releaes then you could say that we're
pretty active, our mailcracks haven't
been much lately but even I as a swapper
prefer to spread first releases.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WHY DID YOU STAY WITH THE C64 AND DIDN'T
SWITCH TO PC?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
I've got a complete other feeling to my
PC, it hasn't got such a history like
the C64 and hasn't got such a scene
either. The PC is OK but the C64 scene
can't be beaten..

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
HAVE YOU GOT ANY SPECIAL HARDWARE
CONNECTED TO YOUR C64?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Well, I have a cable to link it to my PC
when I need to. My 1541's are not
special, but they are special to me
cause I wouldn't be able to swap without
them!!!

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS FOR THE C64?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Keep on swapping steady through the
years! I'm not a guy who tries to reach
the nr. 1 spot and will quit after I
gained it. I won't say I do it for fun,
just a way of live or addiction if you
like. So all in all I could answer your
question with: being active!!!

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
WHAT'S THE THING YOU MOST LIKE ON THE
THE C64!!!

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Difficult to say.. I like the mixture
of friendship, wares and habits of the
C64. I really don't know what I like
best.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
OK NOW SOME POWERWORDS FOR YOU!!!
TELL US WHAT YOU THINK OF:

C64: way of live
SCENE: bunch of freaks
PC'S: nice to play Duke Nukem!
INTERNET: extra dimension
ARACHNOPHOBIA: (WHOOPS YOU CAN'T KNOW
               THIS ONE!!!) Well, in the
               meanwhile I can, the
               first issue was quite ok,
               looking forward for #2!!
GIRLS: can't live with or without them.
DR. DOOM: (DON'T TELL ME YOU LIKE HIM+)
          Misty person..
FUTURE: will never come
PAST: will never come back
CINEMA: waste of time
GAMES: a phun way to waste your time
TELEVISION: reality tv.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
OK AND NOW TELL ME, WHAT'S YOUR
FAVOURITE!!!

ANIMAL: Cat

   MOVIE: Waste of time..

GIRL: Depends in what mood I am

SCENE COUNTRY: Holland

GROUP: WHAT ABOUT THE SPIDERS?
Yea, the Spiders. I have always
looked up on them.. do you want
a serious answer or what? No...
       Well my favourite cracking group
       is SCS+TRC, that's why I joined
them. Fairlight is not so fast
       but they bring some quality
       mailcracks, also a favourite of
mine. My fave demo groups are..
       Oxyron, Crest, Agony, Profik and
some other cool groups which are
       not named Reflex.

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
OK HAVE YOU GOT ANYTHING TO SAY TO THE
PEOPLE OUT THERE?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Be active!

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
IS THERE A QUESTION, YOU LIKE TO ASK ME?

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Yea, how did you manage to set up the
Spiders even though you had never heard
of the scene in that period.. and what
was the goal of the group in that
period? and what was your first
impression of the scene?

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
Uhhum, yah ok, didn't I say one
question? or did I ask for a whole
interview? But what the hack, I shall
answer the questions for you!!!
Well I think it was July '95 when
Stirf found out that there was more to
do on the C64 than playing games, as
he knew that it was possible to train
and intro-link games to, but as usual
me and my big nose was also there and
asked him how and he explained me some
stuff and about one month later I
started my own crew named Spider, only
one day later I asked Stirf to join.
Lizart joined that same day.
ROJ was introduced by Lizart and Stirf
he joined the Spiders three weeks later.
Hell-Raiser drawn a vote-sheet for us
and we asked him to join.[and he did]
A few days after ARACHNOPHOBIA #1 Vai
joined us.
Everlast has contacted us for joining.
Bren has recently joined us too!
[And if anyone else wants to join us
then write to us!, we are looking for
people that can help us to start-up
 some legal productions. Which take
10 times more time and sweat than
 cracking games+!]
But to the point, when we were still
a cracking group we didn't have
the real good orries and ofcourse in
the beginning we used intro-link
progs (BTW after I asked Stirf for
our own group, as we didn't know of a
scene, we could only use it for our
own use, but we had this perfect idea
and that was to put some of our disks
in a store with C64 stuff and also
some old stuff, but we didn't get
a thing from anyone, but than suddenly
Stirf gave me your addie. I don't know
where he got it from, but I did get it
(HMMM, wait a second I shall ask him
right now over the FM CB TRANSCEIVER)
OK now I do know where he got it from,
Stirf got Nuke's address from the
Commodore Format in which he asked for
Public Domain games for his PD-library
(CF, the magazine which is dead now!)
some time ago... but anyway he sent
some PD games to Nuke, after writing a
letter and later he received something
back and that something was that awfull
disk magazine the Big Mouth and in the
Big Mouth he found your (Funxilla's)
addie and gave it to me and I contacted
you and later on I joined U-TURN.
And thats how we/the Spiders-crew
knew about the scene!!

Well I think that was the first answer,
now maybe the second.

Our goal? Well, I believe our goal was
to get some name in the scene, but I
believe that we still haven't reached
it.
But I think we are going upwards.
My first impression of the scene was
that it was great to swap with someone,
you would only know from disk-notes and
that most of the ones in the mags would
reply to me when it said 100% reply, but
there are still some guys who don't send
you anything back and I think that this
really has to be changed. I know that
this can't be changed, as there's
allways someone who's after your disk
and not swapping if you know what
I mean.

Let's go to the next question from me+
By the way, don't you think that this
answer should be longer?

CARNAGE:
,,,,,,,,
OK AND THE LAST ONE, DO YOU WANNA GREET
SOMEONE OR SOME PEOPLE?
THAN DO IT NOW++

FUNXILLA:
,,,,,,,,,
Ok, greetings go out to all my friends
and contacts.
I don't want to mention them by name
them by name but they know who they are!

CARNAGE FOR THE LAST TIME:
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
OK, that was all, thank you for this
nice interview!!!
And to the rest, I hope you liked the
interview and now you can load some
other chapters.
Maybe you should load the chapter with
the jokes if you didn't allready do
that.
