A
At 2 o'clock lokal time the warm-up-lap
starts and Damon Hill puts his car on
the grass because his car broke down
after only a few corners.

S
Start:
      Irvine pushes out Herbert after
one corner and Herbert can't help push-
ing Villeneuve out of the race.
Frentzen than takes the lead after this
small incident.
Irvine also must put his car along the
track because he had a flat tyre because
he hit Herbert.
Ralf Schumacher spins and is out of the
game. Diniz makes his first pitstop-
probably because he hit a car at the
start. Verstappen flies from the track
into the gravel along the track.
Later Verstappen explains that Katayama
hit him one corner earlier and that he
got into the sand- the next corner he
than steers in this corner and the car
just slides of the track becuase of the
sand under his wheels.
Nakano also went over the gravel the
same place Verstappen did- but he man-
aged to get out again. Frentzen still
leads when this happens and behind him
are Coulthard- Schumacher and Hakkinen.

Classification after 7 laps:

1.Frentzen
2.Coulthard
3.Schumacher
4.Hakkinen
5.Alesi
6.Berger

After 9 laps Frentzen has about 13
seconds before Coulthard comes. Also
Panis goes through the gravel- but comes
out again. Fisichella tries to take over
the place of Magnussen but spins of the
track. Frentzen reaches the first strag-
glers who he overtakes. After this he
makes his first pitstop and comes back
on the track at the 3th spot. Coulthard
now leads.

Classification after 21 laps:

1.Coulthard
2.Schumacher
3.Frentzen (1 pitstop made)
4.Hakkinen
5.Alesi
6.Berger
7.Larini
8.Barrichello
9.Panis
10.Salo (1 pitstop made)
11.Magnussen
12.Katayama

Salo goes for his second pitstop and
stays in the pits because of a problem
with his car. Berger makes a pitstop
and gets a new set of tyres. Schumacher
also goes for a pitstop and returns on
the 5th place. Only Coulthard- Hakkinen
and Alesi didn't make a pitstop.
Then we see Nakano again who (again)
goes trough the grass along the track-
but comes back. Alesi now must go and
make a pitstop but he doesn't see the
sign for about 5 rounds and he runs out
of fuel. All the others who didn't went
to the pits did it now.

Classifiaction after 36 laps:

1.Frentzen
2.Coulthard
3.Schumacher
4.Hakkinen
5.Panis
6.Berger

Now Frentzen must go to the pits for the
second time. And he can do that because
he has about 22 second start on Coult-
hard. At the time of his pitstop some-
thing goes wrong and he loses his first
place and comes back at the 3th one.
Schumacher then had to make a pitstop
and needs new fuel and tyres. With
3 laps to go Frentzen's brake-conduct
breaks and he is out of the race.

Coulthard wins easy and the rest you
can hear of ROJ he will give you the
results of this crazy race.

The warm-up lap goes fine for everybody
and the drives are preparing for the
start.

START:
M.Schumacher makes a very good start and
tries to overtake the position of
Villeneuve before the first corner.
But Villeneuve moves to far to the
rightside and Schumacher hits 'm with
his wheel and Villeneuve goes through
the gravel and loses a few places.
Also Fisichella hits a car a spins on
the middle of the track and the rest of
the cars had some troubles to get past
Fisichella. Some more happened and
eventually Barrichello- Fisichella-
Frentzen- Herbert and Irvine have to
take the t-car to make a restart-
because a red flag has been given by the
gameleaders in Brasil.
Magnussen also put his car along the
track but he couldn't take the t-car
because Barrichello allready had it.

RESTART:
It's M.Schumacher again who takes the
lead and leaves Villeneuve on the 2nd
place. The rest of the field gets away
good- except for Katayama who doesn't
get his car started. Villeneuve allready
grasped his place back from M.Schumacher
after one round.

Classification after 2 laps:

1.Villeneuve 12.Frentzen
2.M.Schumacher 13.Barrichello
3.Hakkinen 14.Irvine
4.Berger 15.Diniz
5.Alesi 16.Trulli

8.Coulthard 19.Salo
9.Fisichella 20.Verstappen
10.R.Schumacher 21.Katayama (PITS)
11.Herbert

Katayama comes back on the track again
but has some laps arrearage on
Verstappen. Berger in the meanwhile has
taken the 3rd place of Hakkinen and goes
for the 2nd place of Schumacher.
Hakkinen has got Alesi behind him now
and Alesi wants to get past Hakkinen.
Behind Panis is a big gap with Hill- and
behind Hill are lots of cars who wants
get past Hill because he's keeping up
all those car. Villeneuve is still
leading and has 4.590 seconds start on
M.Schumacher. Berger still hunts for the
second place of M.Schumacher and goes
past him in the 11th lap of the race.

Classification after 11 laps:

1.Villeneuve
2.Berger
3.M.Schumacher
4.Hakkinen
5.Alesi
6.Panis

Then Diniz goes of the track because he
had much oversteer- he says.
Also Barrichello can't continue his race
because he has some technical problems
and stays in the pitslane.
Salo and Herbert are the first ones who
take a normal fuel&tyre stop.
Verstappen goes two rounds later.
After Vileneuve made his first pitstop
he came back on the tarck at the first
place- just before Panis- because
M.Scumacher also made a pitstop.
Hill is now on the 4th place because he
goes for a one-stop strategy.

Classifiaction after 33 laps:

1.Villeneuve (1 pitstop made)
2.Panis
3.Berger (1 pitstop made)
4.Hill
5.Hakkinen
6.M.Schumacher (1 pitstop made)

Panis makes his first pitstop and
probably last pitstop very good. But
Irvine comes in the pitlane because he
has a problem- his safetygirdle went
loose. Nakano comes in the pits- and
while he is doing this- he loses his
wheel. The team gets a new wheel and at
the same time Hill comes in for his
first pitstop. The drivers are very
close to each other and the race is very
compatitive. Villeneuve makes a pitstop
for the second time and Berger now
leads- bu not for long because Berger
has to make a pitstop and return on the
second place before Panis and behind
Villeneuve.

Classification after 50 laps:

1.Villeneuve 11.Coulthard
2.Berger 12.R.Schumacher
3.Panis 13.Larini
4.Hakkinen 14.Trulli
5.M.Schumacher 15.Salo
6.Alesi 16.Nakano
7.Herbert 17.Irvine
8.Frentzen 18.Verstappen
9.Hill 19.Katayama
10.Fisichella

Berger now hunts for the first place of
Villeneuve. R.Schumacher's motor stops
working and he is out of the race.
Also Irvine again makes a pitstop for
new fuel and tyres. And with ten laps to
go Villeneuve puts Hill on one lap.

Classifiaction after 67 laps:

1.Villeneuve 10.Coulthard
2.Berger 11.Hill
3.Panis 12.Larini
4.Hakkinen 13.Trulli
5.M.Schumacher 14.Salo
6.Alesi 15.Nakano
7.Herbert 16.Verstappen
8.Fisichella 17.Irvine
9.Frentzen 18.Katayama

Then at allmost the end of the race-
Hill falls out because he has a fire on
the rightside of the TWR-ARROWS.
Hill still gets the 17th place- but
that's because it happened 3 laps before
the flag and Katayama lies 4 laps behind
the winner.
Villeneuve wins this Grand Prix with
Berger and Panis behind him.
