New page

<pre>CHERRY SOFTWARE

Hello, and welcome to another scene actual chapter!
Not long ago I was contacted by a Swedish software
company (I believe I was not the only one!!).
They asked if they could have some space in my mag.
Sure, no problem! Anything which, or anyone who are
doing anything to keep this beautiful scene alive are
more than welcome to use my magazine as media.

I would like to quote Cherry Software for this great
sentence :

'.....keeping up the spirits of the Commodore 64, and
let's us together focus on the great time there is to
come'

Well, I feel that's exactly how we shall do do it. So I
proudly welcomes and present

C H E R R Y S O F T W A R E
C H E R R Y S O F T W A R E

But why don't we let them speak for themselves!!

--------------------------------------------

PROLOGUE
PROLOGUE

During the mid 80's, all kids in the block were playing
games on the Commodore 64. The machine was the talk
of the town.
Today, technology has passed the Commodore 64 by a
million miles.

And the kids in the block play their games on the PC,
Nintendo and Sega. In some cases even the Amiga.

But the something really interesting happend. The
former Eastern block of Europe opened. And not hav-
ing adapted properly to the western block ecnomi-
cally, one could hardly afford the PC, Nintendo or
Sega.

So Commodore 64 experienced yet another success.

And with it, so did the games.

THE COME OF AGE
THE COME OF AGE

It may appear slightly odd producing games for a
computer that was launched in 1981. the Commodore 64
is still the same machine today as it was back then.
The programmingtechniques are different. Therefore,
the games we do today, were impossible to do just a
few years back.

THE LAUNCH OF A COMPUTER
THE LAUNCH OF A COMPUTER

Cherry Software was founded in early 1993 with one
firm belief - to produce highquality software for the
Commodore 64. to create a solid economy, and even
more importantly, routine in the softwarebusiness,
we focused on the East European market only. Since
some 6 months back. Cherry Software has expanded
immensly. Moving to new offices, employing new people
and hiring even more developing teams. Today Cherry
Software employes 12 entire freelancing teams, all
devoted in finishing their products for the Commodore
64 market.

FINDING THE MARKETS
FINDING THE MARKETS

Still we know there is much more potential market
than the Eastern part of Europe. The Commodore 64
has since its launch in 1981 sold over 5 MILLION COM-
PUTERS, making it one of the biggest successes in
digital history. Today, 1995, there are still 850.000
active Commodore users, and it is our sincere duty to
let them know that we exist.

GREAT NEWS FROM THE FRONT
GREAT NEWS FROM THE FRONT

Even greater news from the front have appeared most
recently. The German based company ESCOM, bought
the entire Commodore company, and with that, announ
ced a relaunch in production of the Commodore 64.
According to ESCOM, this is NOT to cover the Eastern
part od Europe, but instead focusing on an entirely
new market, China. ESCOM have estimated over 2 mil-
lion Commodore 64's being sold there before the end
of the year. This triggers an enormous market, and a
great potential for all gamecreators who are still
out there in the field.

TAKING THE LEAD
TAKING THE LEAD

Today we dare saying we will be leading the software
market on the Commodore 64.Most of our programmers
in-house and freelancing, have their roots in the
public domain/demosector, having had all tje time in
the world to polish their talents.

QUALITY IS THE KEYWORD
QUALITY IS THE KEYWORD

Our games, will speak for themselves. Unfortunately,
there has been a slight setback in the software mar-
ket on the Commodore 64. A few years of dull puzzle
games and uninspiring titles that have not quite ma-
naged to sail under the flag of quality. That is not
what we want. But more importantly, that is not what
the players want. They want addictive, beatiful and
stimulating games.

That's what they will get.
CHERRY SOFTWARE GROUP ORGANIZATION
CHERRY SOFTWARE GROUP ORGANIZATION

PER JACOBSSON
(Chairman, marketing &amp; public relations)

Per founded the company early 1993, and working with
the Commodore 64 since the mid 80's he's developed a
great deal of experience with the machine and the
people around it. Analyzing, observing and communi-
cations concerning media is his profession within the
group organiztion.

MATHIAS HEDBLOM
(Deputy chairman, Finance and Project Coordinator)

Mathias came into the group organization early 1995,
mainly to cover finance. However, as a graphicartist,
working for his own company Nemesis Productions, he
gradually took on the task of coordinating various
freelancing teams, as well as producing games of his
own.

JONAS NORDIN
(Project Coordinator)

Jonas, working on longdistance, has been involved
since the start. Today he is guarding spezialised
projects taking place in Sweden. Will most probably
move to the headoffice in Gothenburg by fall 1995.

RAINIER VAN AUTRJE
(Project Coordinator)

Our Belgian longdistance coordinator covers a lot of
our current Polish projects and freelancers, but al-
so functions as head of Miracle Designs, whose first
title will be published on the Atari Jaguar later this
year. Chery Software will contribute to this game as
well.

SIMON MANHEIMER
(Legal)

Simon will unfortunately be moving to Stockholm to
continue practicing law, but will still be consulted
by Cherry Software in any legal issues.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN
LET THE GAMES BEGIN

--------------------------------------------

These were most of the words from Cherry Software.
I would like you to give it a big thought. Think about
this; a second game era on this great 8 bitter!! Is it
really possible? Well I think so, but it takes much
more than a pad on the shoulder from the scene. Why
no offer your help. Maybe you are coding on a game
yourself, but needs someone to distribute it. Well I
think this is the place to go!!

To Cherry Software, I would like to say thanx for
choosing my magazine for spreading your message. If
you feel like it then I would be more than happy to
recieve a respond from you eventually. Furthermore
I would like to offer you my help in spreading further
information for your company. It would be a great
pleasure and honour to help you. So do feel free to
send me/Skyhigh more information for the hungry 64
scene.

Finally I will bring an advertisement from Cherry
Software to the Commodore 64 scene.
