The Commodore 64-market offers one of
the most exciting cultures in the
digital world. Recently, we're taking
part of a scene where competition once
again is growing. Once again, groups
will have to struggle to surrvive. Times
have changed. Now only the strongest
will surrvive. PROPAGANDA, for one,
being out there, reflects that struggle,
doing so laughing at what we do.

AVANTGARDE was not slow to show us, the
market, that they were to take over
where ILLUSION left of. Looking back
since the start of their era, AVANTGARDE
got surprisingly quickly accepted by the
public. The past few months have been
rather good ones for the group. An in-
tense vitamin shot of releases, has
seen to it AVANTGARDE is the current
group to depend on. AVANTGARDE is no
ridiculous public relation-stunt, nor
the latest hype. On the other hand,
maybe they reflect something, or re-

present something we do not know. What
may be the worst for the group right
now is that with a seal of quality right
across the entire concept, people expect
a lot more than from the usual group. In
other words, if AVANTGARDE somehow fail
to realese on weekly basis, the public
start losing faith in it, though they're
still above most other groups standards.

For people calling the boards, having
the slightest bit of utter taste, it
came as a shock. The all time favorite
board THE FORUM was announced to go down
again, taking the sysop and active fixer
PUDWERX with it into a solemn grave.

Frequent callers share a tear and sob
as a digital classic fades. It is re-
markable that AVANTGARDE now stands
boardless. TERMINAL OBSESSION, that was
put back online along with THE FORUM on
the AVANTGARDE-JUDGEMENTDAY has been
down shortly, but it is just a matter of
time until PRODIGY will put the system
back on line. However, AVANTGARDE is not
satisfied with just that. One has de-
clared a wish of having at least one
second system, whereas two boards are
under consideration; One old system
going back up, and a completely new,
unknown.

SPLIT PERSONALITIES _ Who's Who?

It has long been rumoured TRICOM/AVT
in fact was working under the software
developing label, TWICE EFFECT, namely
being JIM. A rumour seldom appears un-
less there is a slight touch of accuracy
but, we at PROPAGANDA can confirm it is
not true, however, and as RADAR, former
member of ARCADE actually met up with
JIM recently, it was all too obvious.

However, PROPAGANDA can as first mag-
azine in fact reveal somebody who has
been effective under 2 handles in the
group. PBXELLENCE, a rather anonymous
individual in AVANTGARDE declared his

deception of the group as well as the
scene as of just a few days back. In
fact, this dear individual is the pop-
ular musician EVS/20CC, responsible for
many of the epics through the years of
the Commodore 64. EVS/20CC will make a
farewell demo under his real handle and
from there officially take farewell for
real. We bow our heads for a job well
done.

CALLING OUT _ Problems of the 9O's?

It has sadly enough been slow cardwise
recently. AVANTGARDE is one of the
groups having to suffer from this ever-
lasting problem. The PC-people have been

supplying most of the cards on today's
scene have been busted in masses and it
is a natural step, that cards do in fact
fade on our, smaller market as well.
AVANTGARDE will probably be back on the
cards in the not too far distant.

It may have surprised some, when STEVE
old fame from ZENITH announced his part-
icipation in the group, and the past
months he's been one of the most import-
ant figures in terms of activity.

Lately, however STEVE has been using a
Brittish dialout, that apperently has

backbilled. This may be a bit annoying,
but shouldn't be causing too much of a
trouble for him. Rumours about him
quitting as a cause of that are there-
by, untrue.

With PUDWERX gone as an NTSC-fixing
profile in AVANTGARDE, it may look like
a hazzle coming up. Decent fixers are
hard to come by these days. Much speaks
for an official cooperation with DEMONIX
who more or less look like being one of
the persistant groups to maintain what-
ever fixermarket there may be left.

Non-believers out in the field whisper
about AVANTGARDE not being able to com-
pete speed-wise without PUDWERX, but
I have very little faith in such empty
words, knowing that AVANTGARDE has a
lot up their sleeve.

F4CG have shut a million mouths. Indeed
they have. As estimated, their Polish
investments, and most recently American
additions have seen to it F4CG has the
widest circuit of releases on the boards
right now. F4CG has been scratching the
surface of activity for a long time, and
though they may have seemed rather vague
the past years, let us say that the new
era of this group has just started.

F4CG will continue their crusade of
relasing at an intense level. Not only

have they provided us with European
wares, but have in fact seen to it that
a couple of American games have been put
out. Now that's nice for a change!

Not everything has been jolly however.
With their American additions, namely
being MOLOCH and MUTANT-X, a rather
embarrassing argument started and took
place in public, right in front of the
public. MUTANT-X more or less entered
the group by himself, not asking any-
body promising a lot, one of the con-
cepts being cards. MOLOCH, who entered
and saw to it an American releasing-

section was put working, could not cope
with this, and from there a massive
argument started. It came to a point
where MUTANT-X was verbally was bashing
against MOLOCH, HAIN and MAJA. As SOLAR
was notified on the event, things moved
rapidly. MUTANT-X was once again removed
from the group and from there, the F4CG-
saga continues.

With TUNNEL OF WARES changing both
number and sysop, ZIRCO took over the
board, while it dropped hastily in pop-
ularity. Many people speak of rumours
of a new F4CG board going up soon, but
then again, this is yet not confirmed.

TUNNEL OF WARES is an old board with an
impressive history to boast, and we do
pray it will regain what it once had.

With the new group HARDCORE taking shape
(see later this chapter), F4CG lost one
of its important profiles. SNEAPER was
keen on the concept and left for the new
group, providing his selfcoded game
"SPOOK", firstreleased by HARDCORE and
fixed by GLORY. However, this was just
a short ride, and finally hardworking
SNEAPER got to his senses and rejoined
F4CG, while SOLAR saw to it to take
another talent from HARDCORE, being

CHIEF/EX.PADUA who supposedly should be
supporting with knowledge in serious
hacking. F4CG took the struggle in their
own hands and walked out with pride.
The future of HARDCORE is unknown.

Some time has in fact passed since we
last saw a splendid issue. A lot speaks
for a relases of the new issue at the
GENESIS*PROJECT+AVANTGARDE party,
TRIBUTE 1994. There is apperently enough
media-coverage and pictures for it, so
we pray our hands and look foward to
another bonanza in papar.

back, and with THE FORUM being history
again, THE DUNGEON stands proud as the
absoulutely most popular board in the
United States. This is a major benefit
for the cooperation, having left old
REBELLION behind.

VANDALISM, an interesting magazine has
also found its way from the core of the
cooperation. It is a brave attempt, and
has a whole fist of potential in making

it, especially now with an increased
demand of reports from the digital world
with THE PULSE being gone and all.
Another issue is about to hit the
shelves soon, and it may very well be
worth reading.

Perhaps cooperating was the best the two
Dutch groups could perform, and indeed
I nod saying so. Rumours have started
to circulate about the two of them going
their own ways again, this is, however
untrue. HARDCORE, the new group, may be
the only disturbing factor. We do not
know the consequences yet. Time does.

ALPHA FLIGHT is most interesting these
days. Not only did they create a wide
and reliable mail-circuit, but managed
very well on the boards. ALPHA FLIGHT
does in fact still have a lot to prove
and the the next few months will be an
exciting race, where ALPHA FLIGHT do-
nates surprises by the minute.

THE EVIL ISLAND was a pure ALPHA FLIGHT

production once it arrived. CHROMANCE
however took over the island of wares,
and by doing so, ALPHA FLIGHT headed for
an old classic, being HOLIDAY INN CAM-
BODIA which sadly enough lost a lot of
its popularity and impact since the
days it was an headquarter for the long
gone ARCADE. However, it seems ALPHA
FLIGHT got all nostalgic not having
their creation THE EVIL ISLAND in
possession, and quickly announced it
as their very own island again. Once
again HOLIDAY INN CAMBODIA was an ind-
ependent system. Once again.

THE ANCIENT MARINER, sysop of THE EVIL
ISLAND can be both proud of his board
and his group. Things are

RELAX, a magazine released ages ago,
over 5 years ago is about to find its
way to the readers again. Behind the
concept lies an urge to produce a nat-
ural predecessor to the now dead THE
PULSE, as ALPHA FLIGHT prefer to put
it. It is interesting with so many
magazines popping up, an effect similar
to the one that took place at the fall
of SHOCK.

With PEACEMAKER from the group MOTIV8

having joined, it rounds up to become
an interesting competition between the
different groups. PEACEMAKER is an ace
in supplying certain German games, and
doing so, they may very well threaten
a bit of the currently AVANTGARDE.

So what can an old flame like TALENT
accomplish these days. To tell you the
truth, I don't have the slightest!
Members are few, and so are the re-
leases. BOD and MAJESTY, important
organizing profiles are seldom seen on
the boards, and it's not only due to
the lack of interest, but due to the
lack of cards. It is very uncertain what
we can expect from the group in the
future, but they still do possess one
of the best boards in the United States,
DOWN BY LAW.

It is with a sad look on my face we can
reveal a rather tasteless event. HAIN
and MAJA, today happily supporting their
family in F4CG, were offered both money
and cards for re-joining TALENT. This
seemed to be a rather desperate attempt
to surrvive the tough market of today.
I still wonder who would cover the 5O
German marks a release and the cards,
when TALENT has enough problems calling
out themselves.

COUNT ZERO, working with THE PULSE and

active fixer has been rumoured to quit
with THE PULSE going down. My estimate
this is a move that would make TALENT
fade for good. However, COUNT ZERO is
still there, while writing.

while in May, June after the release

AT&T and the Swedish Telecom did not
get what they wanted, but still they
burnt MOTLEY slightly, as the prose-
cution of him was finished.

PROPAGANDA can officially announce that
GENESIS will be setting up their new
board in mid November. Losing THE
DUNGEON to SCS+TRC was not a valuable
happening, but was inevitable at that
time. DIVINE ULTIMATUM, old G*P-HQ will
go back up, taken care of CHAMELEON and
with along with that two other systems
will be announced. One European, and
one American.

The most talked about event right now
is without doubt TRIBUTE 1994, and it
is easily the event of events. GENESIS
being mainorganizer hope for a massive
storm of 8-bit addicts, and as it looks
now, they do sense a storm coming up.

turn and more is to come. PUNISHER,

much talked about company CHERRY SOFT-
WARE, dedicated only to 64-software,
currently buying of licenses to games
from US.Gold, Virgin and Sales Curve.
However, this company condemns soft-
ware piracy. GENESIS doesn't.

CHROMANCE does, they do so, silently,
making sure to tip on their toes, the

A concept they should really put in
a wastebasket. However, CHROMANCE are
facing good times in releasing.

When losing THE EVIL ISLAND for ALPHA

FLIGHT again, they do not declare their
new system. When SPLATTERHEAD, much
talked-about groupjumper, running for
cards, returns to the group, nobody
knows how or why. In fact who knows
anything? Oh, one thing we do know.
Despite their anonymity, CHROMANCE
keeps up a pace they can be proud of.
Releasing is what they do. But I'll
be damned if they did anything else!

Legend are facing the worst of times
again. THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE kicked them
away, and was later on taken down, and
recently one can only regard JAZZCAT
as an active member, calling out on
regular basis. LEGEND is in many eyes
history. Those eyes, my friend, are
not blind.

With THE PULSE being gone, there will
NOT, as rumours have said be anyone
taking over the magazine. RELAX will

be the most natural predecessor to it.

Illusion of Reality, Sweden's absoultely
oldest board, has gone back on line. It
has done so, being a proud support board
for the event of events, namely being
TRIBUTE 1994. XXXXXXXXXXXX is the
number to dial for the lastest inform-
ation about the party.

The Shaolin Temple will be back on line
again. Not for LEGEND though. Time will
tell, and we're waiting impatiently.
