"magazine reviews"

yohoho,here i am with some real BIG
reviews of only a couple of magazines!
as i got some negative reactions about
my way of reviewing,i've adapted my
method and now i've looked at the
things in a critical way and with full
explainment.
concerning magazines i checked on the
following things:

1:TEXT AMOUNT,how many text is there?
2:TEXT VALUE ,is the text informative,
good written,objective?
3:COMFORT ,is it easy to control,
are there any extras?
4:OUTFIT ,are there cool graphix,
good music etc...

as you can see there are 2 cases about
the text. this is simply because text
is the first priority to make a good
magazine.
i'll also mention if it's a one-file
or a multifile magazine,type of loader
and other things.
i will not make lists like in previous
issues and after some time i might
review another issue of the mag,for
instance if it changed outfit or if i
think the text has improved very much!

well,let's cut the crap now and start
with reviewing.
the first lucky contestant is:

"INTERNAL #11"

loader:FASTLOADER,does not work on my
hardware!

after loading the mainfile,there were
linked 2 INTROS infront of the main
part of the magazine.
there was 1 W.O.W.-intro and a special
INTERNAL-intro. this is a bit stupid
in my opinion but they should judge
for themselves!
finally arriving in the mag-menu there
was no action at all. (except for the
cool music!!)
on top of the screen there was an
'internal' logo and under it was the
'menu' which were just a couple of
names under eachother. totaly there
were 8 chapters to choose from.
you could control a white colorbar
with a joystick in port 2 and move up
or down to select chapter. then press
fire to load the current chapter.

the text was crunched with a normal
"run"-packer and not level-packed.
after loading,the same logo appeared
and a raster went down to clear the
text and up to store it.
now you are in the text-output part of
the mag. the controls are very easy
and this is what you can do...

port 2: left :page backward.
right:page forward.
up...:page selector;
left,increase page
right,decrease page
fire,see page.
down :turn charflash on/off.
fire :go back to menu.

the amount of text was quite much.
the text value was also very good.
they had some cool chapters like:
-mega charts:long lists with all names
of people that got points
on the votesheets.
-groups-list:a list with lots of group
names on alphabetical
order.
-group-story:in this chapter there was
a group story about W.O.W
and various other things.
they were not very objective in this
issue due to the fact that most of the
text was about W.O.W. itself but this
didn't influence the charts in any way
so it isn't that bad!

the magazine is very comfortable indeed
as all is controlled with 1 joystick.
the only thing bothering me was the
failing-fastloader. but this is very
easy to fix by simply putting an
"rts" ($60) at memory location $c8c1.

the outfit is nice but not too handsome,
but handsome is what handsome does!
the charset is very clear though,so
the text is easy to read.
what i also miss is style!
the music is very good indeed and fits
the magazine perfectly!

the next magazine has been delayed for
some months but finaly it's back in
bussiness.
and that mag is...

SMOOTH CRIMINAL

after loading and running the program
you enter an old light intro which was
not especialy made for the magazine.
after pressing space you come to the
mag menu. this consists of a t.v. with
diskdrive and ten boxes besides it.
on the downer part of the screen there
is text,of the actual chapter,printed.
now you can select 1 of the ten boxes,
which are chapters,by using joystick
in port 2,controling an aim moving
from box to box. the name of the file
is printed in the upper-border.
if you press fire and the text of that
chapter is not yet in the memory,a
disk will appear and move into the
diskdrive below the t.v.
after that it'll start loading and
after only a few seconds it's finished
loading. now the tv+boxes+drive breaks
away and a "smooth" logo appears with
"criminal" sprites over it.
in the meantime you can read the text
that's just loaded but you've to wait
till the 'criminal'-sprites appear
before you can scroll the text.
the text-output is an up/down scroller
also with fast scrolling.
if you move it up (with normal speed)
for some seconds the text will start
bouncing line by line which gives a
very cool look!
if you've read all there is you can
press fire to return to the menu.
this happends the same way you go to
the text-outputter only in reverse.
also there appears a little picture,
concerning the last-loaded chapter,in
the television.

there is really a lot of text in this
issue!
most of the text is very cool and
interesting to read except for the
part about ninja-stuff,but i'm sure
there's someone interested in that!!
the tips given in 'mixed candy' are
really groovy and some even soo nasty
i hope nobody will pull that trick on
me! also the 'scribble board' was
really funny to read. the charts did
look a bit old and infact they were!!
due to the delay "IKARI+TALENT" were
on the number 1 spot in the cracker
charts,but that's only for this issue.
also some of the text in the "about
light" and the "news+rumours" corners
were quite old,caused by the same
delay.

though to the fact that the controls are
very easy,it simply takes too long
to switch between the 'text-read' and
the 'chapter-choose' parts of the mag.

the outfit is nothing special but due to
the cool graphix and the very nice
sound it is pleasant to witness.
only the charsets are terrible.
especialy when it is underlined it's
pretty hard to read.

finally there was another issue of one
of those magazines that will rule the
charts without even being released.
yes,it's good old...

after loading the mainfile it started
with an intro that made me go uhmm!?
but after waiting till i could press
space,i did and entered the mag-menu.
a very big (3 screens wide) hires
"CORRUPTION"-logo is moving from left
to right and back. under that there's
the chapter selector. you can move an
arrow to the chapter you want and
after pressing fire and some luck it
will start to load. (it loads the text
everytime,whether it's allready in the
memory or not!) after loading there
appears the up/down scroller also with
fast-scrolling.
it is all joystick controlled.
after reading a chapter you can press
fire to reenter the menu but look out
you don't load the same text again.
there are 12 different chapters though
some text didn't fit in one chapter
and that's why it was printed in
another one. the charts were missing
due to their long delay.

the amount of text was very high indeed!
the value of the text was not too high
due to the lack of charts and the
never-ending fight between corruption
and antichrist/genesis project.
also some of the text was in german
and lots of people can't read german!
they are also very anti-antichrist.

the mag itself is very comfortable only
the joystick routine hacks several
times and can be very irritating.

this new outfit looks quite cool but is
a bit ordinairy. the music -by jch- is
very cool,the graphix -done by fox-
isn't my taste but there are ofcourse
people that will love it.
for the rest it is all very nice and
surtenly not lame!!

located at $4800.
the text is NOT packed

loading the mainfile and skipping the
intro i reached the main menu and
took a look at it.
in top of the screen there's a moving
"trashnews"-logo moving left'n'right.
under that there's the textdisplay.
lower there's a picture with the
number of chapters above it. totaly
there are 10 chapters selected by joy
in port 2 with left/right. press fire
once to load the text.
at any time press fire twice after
eachother to return to the menu-text.
after loading move down to go one page
forward and up to go one back.
special function keys are:

f1 for wordhunter
f3 for print-menu

there also is a page-counter printed
with the rest of the text.

the amount of text is above average.
the textvalue is quite normal thanx to
some very cool chapters to read. some
of the text is a bit old but that's
due to the delay.

the magazine is very comfortable but for
the loader. the only thing that's a
bit irritating is the 'double click'.

the outfit is nice but nothing special.
the graphix are quite good and the
music fits the mag perfectly.
the charset is very clear to read,so
no sweat at all.
