+ THE PULSE MAGAZINE - THE MARCH EDITION +
   _______________________________________
Ladies and Gentlemen, once again we introduce to you the
international distributed THE PULSE MAGAZINE - produced
by REGINA in 1994.

By suppressing the freedom of speech the scene robs itself
from the necessary safety ventilation for opposing powers.

INSTRUCTIONS : Use JOYSTICK in PORT 2. Left and right to
change PAGES and FIRE to reach the MENU!
Dear Readers, 1st of March 1994

Ah yes. Another month has passed, and once again we return
to bring you yet another action-packed edition of THE PULSE
MAGAZINE, your guide to the 64 scene.

Thanks to everyone that mailed in letters and positive words
about this magazine. We really enjoy reading them all, and we
urge you to keep on sending them in. However, in order for us
to print a letter, it would need to be interesting for all of
our readers, therefore excluding those only directed towards
the editors. But we do get some letters that needs to be
answered in here, therefore we have decided to include a new
chapter from next month dedicated to the readers reactions.

NEWS JOURNAL - THE MARCH REPORT
          ______________________________
News Journal returns with a look at the headline stories of
February month - the March report.

February turned out to be quite an interesting month. A few
of the very stabile groups went through a total change, which
makes the scene look quite different. Let us hope that with
the latest happenings, something good will come out of it -
to benefit the scene.

The news was as always collected by DUKE, CROSSFIRE
and SPLATTERHEAD with additional help from just about a
dusin of others (many thanks to those). Here we go!
* The most succesful cracking group of 1993 RED SECTOR INC.
turned into TRSI last month, but proved to be only a vague
reflection of the old super-group. The hard-core part of TRSI
was disatisfied with the conditions, and therefore decided to
leave the group. HOK, who is still a member of EMPIRE, joined
up with AVANTGARDE, while SCAT decided to turn independent
for a while. NIGHTWRITER, TBB, COMMUNIST and COUNT-ZERO
joined up with steady growing TALENT. COUNT-ZERO also
teamed up with the newly built American fixer-group PSI. TRSI
is still alive though, but they are searching for a couple of
crackers to take over the work from COUNT-ZERO and HOK.
The current status of TRSI should look something like this:
IRATA, THE BREAKER, TRIGGER, ANARCHY, IMAGE, TNM and
perhaps a couple more. Nothing has been announced as of yet.
TALENT has not only ripped off the most active part of TRSI,
they also recruited MAJA of CHROMANCE aswell as SPARK/
ELYSIUM and STONE/TRC who will operate as swappers. With
the latest additions, TALENT seems to be preparing for a
tough year, but by now they should be well equipted for the
quest of retaking the prestigous crown of the 64 scene. We
spoke with MAJESTY/TALENT about the latest additions
from TRSI, and he had the following comment- "COUNT-ZERO
brought up the idea because the organisation in TRSI was
fucked up. I called up DARREN, and we made a two minute deci-
sion about taking them in. It is a big number for TALENT to
have two of the biggest boards in the USA. By taking them, we
got a second fixer (COUNT-ZERO), a quite decent mailtrader
(TBB), another sysop (NIGHTWRITER) and COMMUNIST to kill
cards. Despite everything previous said, THE BREAKER is not
in TALENT.. Yet. Another thing which cannot be said too often,
is that HUNTER is NOT and never will be in TALENT".

* AVANTGARDE has also brought upon itself new members, with
a special surprise for everyone. They succeeded in claiming
probably the best board ever FORUM together with the sysop
PUDWERX, known as one of the best fixers in the USA through
time. AVANTGARDE also brought back PRODIGY, who has put
his equally legendary board TERMINAL OBSESSION back up
again aswell. We spoke with PRODIGY about his return, and he
told us about his return- "DEFF of AVANTGARDE got a hold
of me, and asked if I would put the board back up, so I said
yes. That's pretty much it". TERMINAL OBSESSION and FORUM
are both private running on a new version of UCBBS. Should
you want an account on either boards, get a hold of DEFF,
JACK DANIELS or FREESTYLE. AVANTGARDE also picked up
the ever so popular DERBYSHIRE RAM, who is back from his
short break. ASLIVE was kicked, and AVANTGARDE decided
to replace him with a swapper by the name of DECILON. Also
IRONCAT was kicked, this time because of laziness. And last
but not least, CYBERSURFER left AVANTGARDE and the 64-
scene all together.

* DR.DISK decided to leave ATLANTIS. The memberstatus of
ATLANTIS go like this: ROBOCOP, AVALANCHE, DR.SCIENCE,
HUMAN, DR.ZOOM, RENEGADE, DRAKER, HITOP, UNDERDOG,
DREAMLOVER, SNAP, SKULL, KIRBY, LYNX and SYCO.
* MOTIV 8 announced the return of a very familiar scener last
month. ANIMAL/ex.DOMINATORS decided to return to the 64-
scene, together with his country-men in MOTIV 8. Also SMD
(ex.TRIAD, EPIC) joined up as graphicians (SMD are two in one)
and finally DOOM and JASON were kicked out due to lack of
moral and laziness.

* ALPHA FLIGHT lost their Australian supplier and phreaker
JAZZCAT to LEGEND, with STASH/WRATH DESIGNS and
DIABOLO/PADUA joining in (DIABOLO only as his 2nd group).
The current memberstatus of ALPHA FLIGHT should go some-
thing like this: MARC, MAX, STING, SUPREME, SECRET MAN,
MANIAC, SKID ROW, HONESTY, RRR, AM, ROUGH, ARNE,
STASH and DIABOLO.
* A new group popped out last month, this one called WILD
SIDE. Members are: DEEKAY, X-RADICAL, CAVRON, DR.JONES,
RAIDER, SUBZERO, OUTLAW, X-RAFFI and TRIBAL. They have
got STATE OF THE ART as their EHQ, and DEAD ZONE (former
VISION) as WHQ. WILD SIDE is a cracking group!

* GENESIS PROJECT added TWIST/TRANCE (cracker) and
MINISTRY/CHROMANCE (crackers) into their squad. Their mag
PROPAGANDA is going through another delay problem. This
time the blame should be put on BOD though, who took over
the 1st-release chapter when PSYCHOBILLY stopped. DR.ACID
was busted for hacking/phreaking, but according to G*P boss
NEWSCOPY he should be okay!

* REGINA decided to let go of METAL, who joined up with the
country-men in CAMELOT. The current memberstatus of
REGINA should therefore sound like this: DUKE, SUN DANCER,
DR.ZIVAGO, SHARK, KBS and STEVE. STEVE is also a member
of CAMELOT, but right now the only thing he does on the 64
is to write for THE PULSE MAGAZINE.

* BAPPALANDER/FAIRLIGHT left the scene, while FAIRLIGHT
recruited TABASCO/JAM who will support REFORMATION.

* BURNING HORIZON/UNITED ARTISTS quitted the scene,
since he had to move for his college.

* KIRK was booted out of OXYRON.
* STARKILLER (ex.PADUA, SPIRIT, CALADAN) is back in
business with PADUA. His board COLD FUSION will go up again
soon.

* DR.FATE/LITHIUM+RAVE left the scene to go SNES.

* THERION left ALPHA FLIGHT joined CHROMANCE.

* DANIEL (ex.THE FORCE, EPIC) is back in the scene with his
old group SCS. Whether GUY SHAVITT will return to the scene
or not, time will show.

That's all the news we have for you this month, we will be
back next month, with more about the land of the 64 sceners!

Monthly Releases 1

MONTHLY RELEASES - THE 1ST RELEASE CHARTS
      _______________________________________
As we promised after the last issue, these chapter will contain
the TRUE release charts from January AND February. Due to
some strange happenings discussed all over the world, we, the
staff, fucked up the charts and see it as our only aim to
correct some things.

This MONTHLY RELEASES will contain the text for January
written by PSYCHOBILLY and the charts for February done
by COUNT-ZERO.

Okay, let's start back over at the beginning of this year..

              __________________
        Developed and updated by PSYCHOBILLY

This is the last chance for all those who never understood the
system which was used here to credit the wares and to judge
who gets the points and why.

The best chartsystem ever developed, available unshorted in
THE PULSE MAGAZINE for everybody to copy.

With this system we give the reader a maximum of objectivity
and information concerning the REAL scene, the modem-scene.

[1] THE POINTS
There are negative and positive points used to judge a ware.
POSITIVE points are given for a FIRST release of a NEW ware
spread on the BOARDS.
[*] PRICE [*]
1 POINT for LOW BUDGET (below 2$, GAME ON, C-FORCE +
FORMAT, Polish, Hungarian, games, shareware, pd-software,
MAGIC DISK. 2 POINTS for BUDGET (below 10$), GOLDEN DISK,
UK-Budgets 3 POINTS for FULLPRICE (over 10$), all known
companies that produce fullprice titles.

              + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
              __________________

[*] QUALITY [*]

The category just considers about the fun a game gives to the
player, how the graphics and the sounds are made and so on.

From 0.0 - 3.0 a ware is considered. The worst is 0, and the
best is 3. Just for the record the only game which got 3 in
1993 was the excellent MAYHEM IN MONSTERLAND.

0.0 - 0.9 points are given for previews.

              + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
              __________________
[*] PAL/NTSC [*]

0 - 1 - 2 points are added to the total amount of points in the
following cases:

2 points for a 100% fixed game which was not released on pal
before.
1 point for a 100% fixed game which was released first on pal
and then fixed afterwards. NOTICE, if a different cracker-
group put out a pal-only version before, the fixed version
counts 0 points for a pal only version.

              + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
              __________________
[*] NEGATIVE POINTS [*]

If you do something terribly wrong in the waresworld you get
punished by your competitiors and of course by THE PULSE.

-5 points a group gains to their total amount of points if they
put out a ware which was already spread on the boards in
English and 100% fixed/c+t long time ago! A RE-RELEASE !

-1 point a group gains for not levelpacking a ware they have
released or for putting out a fixfile, a 100% version or a
trainerversion/patch.
             + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
             __________________
[*] DECREASED POINTS [*]

For wares which become translated or fixed after a long time
they were put out first by the company or a cracking group
get the HALF amount of points only they originally would get.

[2] FIRST RELEASE

The struggle for these naughty bits is what most people in the
waresworld keep going on. But unfortunately not all people
know exactly what it is they are talking about. Read what the
expression "First Release" stands for in THE PULSE!
             + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
             __________________
A First Release is a NEW game which was never released in
English or on the American majorboards before.
A First Release has to work 100% on all 64 AND 128 computers
from Commodore Business Machines!
A First Release is made by a group if they manage to spread
their version on the majority of these boards:
FORPLAY, DOWN BY LAW, HIC, THE DUNGEON, EVIL ISLAND.
In case there are problems considering which group was faster
TUNNEL OF WARES, PHIBERCOM and CHAOTIC FACTOR can be
taken into consideration.
The game has to be completely uploaded to the board. In case
a pal version was spread before a fixed version the fixed
              + CHARTSYSTEM V1.2 +
              __________________
version will be credited. That means also the cracker-group
which supplied the version which became fixed will get the
credit and not the group which put the game out pal only.

In case a group spreads their ware on 3 majorboards only and
another group puts their version on the remaining boards the
first group gets the points if the timedifference is at least
one day, less than that, the second group get the credit.

A fixed version is a ware which works on pal and ntsc without
any difference, without flickering or slowing down. Below 100%
fixes are ignored as not fixed at all.
ALPHA FLIGHT (Germany, USA, etc.) (No Rank/-1.1 Points)
_____________________________________________
The flight went on with a nice jump'n'run from CP VERLAG
called SALIVA KID (3.0) which was released on pal by them.
Unfortunately their first version did not work 100%, so that
they had to release a second version (-1) which was not
levelpacked (-1). Rumours about a third version by ALPHA
FLIGHT turned out to be fake..
MUEHLE (2.5) also from CP VERLAG was put out on pal.
TRC+SCS tried to provide a fixed version but failed as their
fix is below 100% so that AFL got the credits!
Furthermore they put out an average preview called CITY
INVADER (0.4) which is indeed a different one although EPIC
put out a preview with the same name.
ALPHA FLIGHT (Germany, USA, etc.) (No Rank/-1.1 Points)
_____________________________________________
To stop the flight one more time they put out a game coming
from England originally said to be released in Australia.
The game turned out to be slightly recoded from the original
TEST CRICKET, so AB CRICKET got (-5) on it ...

AVANTGARDE (Germany, USA, etc.) (5.Rank/1.5 Points)
_____________________________________________
After VISION released a totally fucked up version of REACTOR
(2.9) from DOUBLE DENSITY they put out a working and pro-
perly cracked version. A version from MOTIV 8 put out much
later was ignored.

AVANTGARDE (Germany, USA, etc.) (5.Rank/6.9 Points)
_____________________________________________
ZYTRON MEGABLAST (3.6) from LEGENDARY DESIGN was done
by them and fixed by EMPIRE. Remarkable fact that this game
was coded by LEGEND but put out by them..
Finally they released a preview of CYBERBLOCKS (0.4) where
a discussion about the game being a re-release started, but
a closer look at it showed that there are different levels.

DYTEC (Germany) (4.Rank/2.7 Points)
_____________________________________________
This quite unknown group managed to release a good pd game
called DINOX (2.7) on pal.

CHROMANCE (Hungary, Germany, etc) (3.Rank/8.3 Points)
_____________________________________________
The guys from he east could release two wares only this month
from 576 KBYTE called TETRIS (2.5) and KIKUGI (2.1) on pal.

MOTIV 8 (Denmark, Germany, etc.) (6.Rank/0.4 Points)
_____________________________________________
This group started with two lame text-adventures called
DARKTOWER (3.2) and DAVY JONES LOCKER (3.2) from a
strange company called RIVER SOFTWARE, and an average
preview called SNIPER (0.4). Topping that with two games from
a MARKT+TECHNIK collection disk called CIRCUIT (3.6) (ed. old
game) and a definate re-release called EXPLOSION (-5).

MOTIVE 8 (Denmark, Germany, etc.) (6.Rank/0.4 points)
_____________________________________________
Both games are from 89/90 but only the last could be proven
to be released back then by UCF.
The Success-story went on with the release of a tool called
SPRITE MACHINE (-) and the untranslated crap game from
the GAME ON nobody else bothered to touch named
STARGATE (-).
The last killer from MOTIV 8 this month was a re-release
called RETRO TORQUE (-5) from COMMODORE FORCE which
was released under TURBO KART RACER from BURP years
before. The MOTIV 8 version even crashes which made TRC+
SCS releasing a 100% version.

CHROMANCE (2) (Hungary, Germany, etc) (3.Rank/8.3 Points)
_____________________________________________
In the first part of the month they could provide us with a lam
game called DREAM BALL (3.7) from DREAMLINE KITCHEN which
was imported by CODERZ.

SCS+TRC (Holland, UK, Germany, etc.) (No Rank/-0.6 Points)
_____________________________________________
Bad luck for our dutch duo in the beginning for their coop!
First their attempt failed to release a fixed version of
MUEHLE which was below 100% and then they tried to correct
a crashing version from MOTIV 8 of RETRO TORQUE (-5) so
they put out a re-release aswell.
A quite decent preview from WARFLAME (0.5) and another
SCS+TRC (Holland, Germany, etc.) (No Rank/-0.6 Points)
_____________________________________________
one called METALLIC LEGEND (0.5) were put out.
Even the fixed MAYDAY (3.4) from MAGIC DISK could not
change it all into a positive result..

TALENT (FRG, FIN, UK, Poland, USA) (1.Rank/10.1 Points)
_____________________________________________
TALENT released a preview of WORD UP (0.7) and a Polish ware
called KULFON (4.5) from BMB which was imported by DEMONIX.
Another Polish game called THE KING (4.9) from MIRAGE was
imported by DEMONIX aswell. Later on CODERZ put out a fix-
file for the bad fix of KULFON from DEMONIX, so they get the
points for the fix.
VISION (Denmark, Germany, etc.) (No Rank/-5 Points)
_____________________________________________
Crap from DK is getting a special standard it seems. VISION
released a totally fucked up version of REACTOR, and a re-
release of DECLEM (-5) which was a GAME ON for the second
time already. Tough luck!

Check next pages what charts we got out of this mess..

Where is TRSI? It seems after RSI died the successor group
cannot hold the standard of the 93's number one!

Monthly Releases 2

            THE US-SCENE FEBRUARY
             ____________________
A lot of changes happened during the month ... The major
headline in the news would be the return of PUDWERX and
PRODIGY to the US-SCENE giving us PUDWERX as a fixer and
TERMINAL OBSESSION and THE FORUM as boards ...
MUTANT-X of PSI got busted and PSI seems to be pretty down
at the moment. They plan to start off with the warez during
this month though.

STEALTH/TSM turned up with a fix and everybody is waiting
for more stuff from them in order to bring some competition
back to the market.

THE US-SCENE FEBRUARY
____________________
Finally I got to know that maybe another major BBS will be back
online shortly.

No sign of life from EMPIRE, but maybe they can do their 26th
comeback in their history this month and stay a little longer
then ... DEMONIX seem to be vanished aswell and the new fixing
group GODFATHERS did not come up with fixed warez either.

There is some action back in the US, so go and join it !!!

Okay, let's get over to the MONTHLY RELEASES ...

For the very first time, I am proud to present to you the
monthly releases charts for THE PULSE MAGAZINE.

Due to the return of PUDWERX and PRODIGY with their boards
TERMINAL OBSESSION and THE FORUM I already decided to
modify the actual majorboard list.

So it will look like this from now on: TERMINAL OBSESSION,
THE FORUM, DOWN BY LAW, FORPLAY, HOLIDAY INN, THE
SHAOLIN TEMPLE and no more. If troubles are coming up, I
will also check out TOW, TEI, REBELLION and PHIBERCOM..
This will make it a little harder to spread the wares, but give

also more activity spreadwise. Furthermore from the next issue
on there will be some stuff added to the point-system, which
will be: (-1) for obviously freezed games.

Half of the points for a game which got fixed after more than
one year after the PAL-first-release.

Finally we got NO POINTS at all for games done usin ANY kind
of earlier released game-makers such as SEUCK, GAME MAKER
and some Adventure Construction Sets. The only exception on
this would be a totally updated coding of the game, which
makes it more playable.
ALPHA FLIGHT (FRG, AUS, USA) (7.Rank/0.6 Points)
_____________________________________________
Due the whole last month they just released a quite average
preview named MYSTERY (0.6).

AVANTGARDE (FRG, USA, GBR, etc.) (1.Rank/22.2 Points)
_____________________________________________
With the comeback of PUDWERX and PRODIGY to the scene and
their so-called Judgement Day 2 major boards returned to the
scene. But let's start at the beginning of the month, when they
started with the release of CYBERBLOCKS (3.9) by MDG/CP
VERLAG, which later on got fixed by CODERZ.
Along with this nice puzzle-game they released the preview of
SQUOST (0.8), another puzzlegame, but well styled.
AVANTGARDE (FRG, USA, GBR, etc.) (1.Rank/22.2 Points)
_____________________________________________
Next was a low-budget from England called CASHMAN (3.7)
released by CP VERLAG and running PAL/NTSC.
Next the follow up to FRED'S BACK 2 came to their hands and
they released FRED'S BACK III (3.3) by COSMOS/CP VERLAG.
Now it became 'Judgement Day' ... TERMINAL OBSESSION and
THE FORUM went back online. PUDWERX fixed the amazing
MAYHEM IN MONSTERLAND (7.0) and also did the slight fix
on ASTATIN (3.5) from TALE SOFTWARE/ALIVE DESIGN.

CHROMANCE (Hungary, FRG) (2.Rank/7.1 Points)
_____________________________________________
They started the month with a Polish game which got translated
and named MERCENARY (3.6) where a trainer is hardly needed
(-1). The game got imported by CODERZ though.
A couple of days later they released SPLITTER (4.5) from LK
AVALON, which is similar to PUZZLEMASTER.
To stock up their points they released a fixed version of
SALIVA KID which didn't work at all on NTSC, mainly caused
by the fastloader (-). During the month a tool release by them
found its way to the drives and it's a noticable sound-editor
called OPTIMA 2.0 (-).

LASER (UK, FRG, USA) (6.Rank/3.9 Points)
_____________________________________________
During the whole month they came up with the first-release
of MINIMUNCH (3.9) from ELECTRIC BOYS SOFTWARE and a
lame SEUCK game called PENALTY SHOOT 'EM UP (-).

MOTIV 8 (DEN, FRG, etc.) (3.Rank/6.0 Points)
_____________________________________________
After their failure last month they seem to have finally found
out how to do it a little more properly. Together with CODERZ
they released BULLET (3.4) which was done using some kind of
GAME MAKER. It just got in for this last time. Finally a hardly
needed trainer is missing (-1). They went on with a preview of
ABSTRACT (0.4) and the tool release of the GENLOC PARALAX
MOTIV8 (DEN,FRG,etc.) (3.Rank/6.0 Points
_____________________________________________
EDITOR (-) from MARKT+TECHNIK. Another surprise was the
the comeback fix from STEALTH/TSM, fixing REACTOR (3.9)
from CP VERLAG for M8. They failed it a bit and had to put out
a fix-file (-1) later on. M8 finished the month with a preview
of TELECOMMANDO (0.3) a pretty low level preview though.

TALENT (FRG, GBR, POL, USA, etc.) (4.Rank/5.4 Points)
_____________________________________________
TALENT brought upon us a Polish game called THE CURSE (4.7)
from LK AVALON which got imported by TRSI. By the end of the
month they came up with a preview of another Polish ware
called LAZARUS- (0.7), a decent preview.
TRC+SCS (HOL, FRG, USA, etc.) (5.Rank/4.8 Points)
_____________________________________________
They kicked off with an ARKANOID like game preview called
PARANOID (0.8) and another bat-and-the-enemies game called
CATCH II (3.1) from CP VERLAG, which later on got fixed by
CBA/TRC+SCS. Later on followed IDUNA PRV (0.4) and
BOBIX PRV (0.5).

Now let's see who the ruling group for this month. After the
fall-down of TRSI there seem to be rather few left.

Satirica

SATIRICA - THE AUTOPSY OF THE SCENE
          ________________________________
Hello there folks. Welcome to the 9th edition of SATIRICA, the
one and only. Lately other magazines has tried to copy off our
style of editing, but do not take notice of any of them - there
can be only one original, and SATIRICA is the original satiric
chapter - only in THE PULSE MAGAZINE.

This month is no different than any other, people still make
fools out of themselves, whether it be in February or any
other month for that matter.

* ATTENTION * This chapter is written in a satiric way, and
should therefore NOT be taken serious. Now you are warned!
* POWERPLANT revealed to NO-LIFE MAGAZINE, how he stole
a C64 from one of his room-mates the first year at law-school.
"It was a GREAT feeling, and I knew then, that becoming a
lawyer was something for me!". POWERPLANT plans to begin
the serious robbing once he gets his diploma, afterall, that
is what a lawyer is best at!

* BOD made a short visit to the WRITERS ANONYMOUS last
week, to promote his new book, entitled- "Too sexy 4 my BOD".
The book is about BOD's sexual experiences with a number of
different operators from AT'n'T, MCI and even SPRINT. Not
only does the book include the very first official chart of
BEST OPERATORS, it also includes great tips on WHAT to do
and what NOT to do, when you WANT to get "laid"..
* MTV filed a complaint against TALENT last week, because of
being herrased by the TALENT member MAJESTY. According to
MTV, they receaved a call from a German (in this case being
MAJESTY) in their MOST WANTED show, where MAJESTY cried
out loud; TALENT RULES! The host of MOST WANTED, RAY
COKES, is currently in hospital because of this, and MTV
wants a 9 figure amount in compensation for this. Also a bunch
of German radio-stations has complained about MAJESTY, who
apparently has called in giving them a fake name, then when on
the air, letting TALENT RULES loose infront of millions of
listeners. MAJESTY explains to STRANGE-LIFE MAGAZINE,
that this is the new form of TALENT-PR, and other than that,
he felt that the idea was- "hehe, hehe, hehe, COOL".

* PROPAGANDA has once again gone into NO-RELEASE mode.
Apparently their new 1st-release editor BOD is to blame, and
according to GENESIS PROJECT, NEWSCOPY has flown to
LONDON to beat up BOD because of this. NEWSCOPY explains
to MOST HAUNTED, that PROPAGANDA does not have ANY
problem whatsoever, they are just going through what you
may call a "laziness" phase.

* Meanwhile at the house of CROSSFIRE/MOTIV 8
"WAR? Haha, like I care.."

* Meanwhile at the house of LEXI/FAIRLIGHT
"Go on and offend the REFORMATION the way you like to do.
WE SIMPLY DON'T CARE!".
+ The BALLED and UNSHAVED - a SATIRICA special +
     ________________________________________
Welcome to the brand new and mindblasting series exclusive to
SATIRICA. Most of you probably already know the MTV show
called "THE REAL WORLD". Well, we at SATIRICA felt that it
would be a great idea to throw a bunch of known sceners
together, to make an identical show. This one is entitled "The
BALLED and UNSHAVED". Every month, we will invite a couple
of sceners, to live together for a week, and tell us what they
accomplished from that.

In the opening, we have invited THOR, BOD, PARSON, RADAR
and POWERPLANT. They will all give us a presentation of how
they felt the week went along.
THOR says,
I thought the weekend went pretty well, eventhough I am angry
that noone wanted to listen to the things I had to say (and
there was a lot I tell you). Atleast none of them were black or
Canadians!

BOD says,
This socialisation is not for me. I get frightened when there
is more than two people in the same room with me, unless it is
my parents of course!

PARSON says,
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend a week with
such known sceners. I am not worthy, I am not worthy!!!!
RADAR says,
I would have wished for a bit more respect from the others.
They refused to believe that I was rich, only because they
overheard me trying to get POWERPLANT to loan me a couple
of dollars to buy new shoes. But the reason for this, was
that I forgot all my credit-cards!!!

POWERPLANT says,
Oh it was nice spending a week with such mature young people.
It makes me proud to be a human being, and I plan on writing a
book about it when I get home. There was one thing that made
me upset though, THOR tried to set me on fire when I revealed
to everyone, that I was a pascifist!!

+ NATURES CORNER - WATCHING THE WATER DRIP +
   _________________________________________
Welcome back to another edition of Natures Corner, with your
host POWERPLANT of LEGEND (scattered applause!!!)..

This month I have a very interesting topic on the program.
You may recall a very disturbing post made by BOD of TALENT
which caused a massive interest in the topic that we are going
to discuss this month. But before I introduce my guest, let us
recall the exact words written by the philosopher himself.

"Toasers are the way forward, extensive surveys show that
the popularity of the domestic toaster has risen by over 65%
in the last 6 months alone, and when you think that all the tim
the toasters sits in the kitchen, it is draining power and
making itself ready for the toaster domination. When that day
comes, toasters all over the world will come to life and take
control. So be friendly to your toaster now, and avoid the
future destruction of you and your family."

Please welcome, BOD of TALENT.

PWP: Stupid Englishman. What is your point with writing this
wierd post?

BOD: I don't know!?!

PWP: Thank you. Join me next month, more NATURE to come!
Meanwhile at the house of POWERPLANT/LEGEND
"Yoho, I am a towelhead rapper".

* The olympics are over with, and we have had the chance to
see and hear from the many winners. Therefore we decided to
make a tribute to some of the losers up there, looking at the
very popular disciplin- "GO GO CHICKENS". The favourite was
undoubtedly SOLAR's chickens, who came in second- so we
asked SOLAR what he had to say about the disappointing
result- "Those damn black chickens used steroids to win, I
can't believe the judges let them through without even eing
tested. But one thing is sure, when I get home, I am going to
get a hold of an axe, and then- HASTA LA VISTA". Yes, well.
Better luck next time I guess!?!
* REFORMATION has hit rock buttom. BEAVIS and BUTT-HEAD
joined up to write a new satiric chapter, and we spoke with
ENDURO about the latest invasion of cartoon-characters in
REFORMATION- "Well, the thing is that me and LEXI are simply
not capable of writing anything funny. When we put down words
they die, and so we requested a bit of help from the popular
MTV dudes!". LEXI and ENDURO are said to be undergoing
psychologial examinations at the moment, reason being, that
they have difficulties telling reality from fiction. BACCHUS
was sent in to take over the PR work for REFORMATION in
their absence, but also he had to undergo psychological exa-
minations, reason being, he couldn't tell reality from fiction
either- thinking that "REFORMATION kicks butt" and "LEXI
and ENDURO are swell editors". SATIRICA keeps on insulting!

Global Report

GLOBAL REPORT - THE GUIDE TO THE HAPPENINGS
       _______________________________________
Welcome back to another look at some of the happenings in
the scene. This month we have got 3 things for you :

* SPIDERMAN/VISION bids the days of X-FACTOR goodbye, by
presenting a special report about the groups achievement in
the 5 years it existed. Exclusive for THE PULSE MAGAZINE!

* GRAVEYARD (THE PULSEMAGAZINE EHQ) presented three
opinion polls for its users last month. We present the answers!

* CONSUMER REVIEW takes a look at the latest party album
from INCUBUS/ANTIC. This one is his fifth!
X-FACTOR - 5 years of existance have come to an end...

First of all, I, Spiderman, would like to thank THE PULSE
MAGAZINE for the opportunity to bring you this obituary. Yes,
as you may already have read in the last issue of THE PULSE,
X-Factor is about to retire from the 64. After 5 exciting
years, the spirit of the group has gone, and we would like to
withdraw in a decent manner. Skyhawk and Protector is
currently working on an official 'Farewell' demo, which will be
the last thing you will ever see or hear from us on this
machine.

X-Factor was founded on the 28th of May 1989 by Hulk (later
known as HIC), Wraith, The Creep (later known as Ace), Dwain,
Sadist (later known as Hewitt) and Spiderman. During the
summer of 1989, the group released a lot of imports and cracks
and even a small 4 part demo called 'Nomads'.

After a very successful start, we began recruiting new
members during the autumn of 1989. The first guy to join our
forces was Dexter and later followed Skyhawk, Protector and
Ecco. I will not bore you with a lot of chronological facts any
longer, but instead give you a brief (!) summary of the members
X-Factor have had on the 64 during the years. This is only the
ones that I can remember, but I don't think I have missed that
many.

Ok, here we go...

and finally...

SPIDERMAN - Founding member. Joined Vision when XF left the
scene. Also a member of X-Factor PC.

And let us not forget our few members outside Denmark..

Necromancer, Flexster, Visionary, Technaz, Wiseguy & Ture7
from the USA, who all were members in the period of 1989-91,
Alpha (Norway, 1991-1992) and Parson (Germany, 1992).
Regrettably, I do not have any info on these guys future
careers.

X-Factor has always been an all-round group and we managed
releasing a dozen demos and about 500 cracks as well as about
20 imports at the time when the US still was producing games.
Although releasing 500 games, we only managed to do 1 first
release. On the other hand, we never had any ambitions of
becoming speed crackers. We cracked games for fun and often
put a lot of time into making an outstanding version.

Although not being speed crackers, we have had boards in the
states from 1989-1992, and thereafter none really bothered
the tediousness of keeping in touch with the states.
Anyway, I would like to thank the people behind the boards we
have had during time, which are

EXCALIBUR, SPLIT INFINITY, GALAXY HIGH, Beyond, Boot
Camp, Backdoor, Ninja's Kingdom, Garden of Eden East, Point
of Entry and of course The Lonely Island in Denmark.

Demos that we have released are

LOGICAL - released at the Dominators, UpFront & Trilogy
party in Randers December 1989.

TIME WASTER I - released April 1990.

SLJIVOVICA - released at the Daniax party in Middelfart
July 1990.

NEXUS - released September 1990.

ARMAGEDDON I - released at the Censor party in Gothenburg
November 1990.

ARMAGEDDON II - released at the Dexion party in Odense
December 1990.

ARMAGEDDON III - released at the Horizon Easter party 1991.

UIME WASTER II - released at the The PARTY I in Aars
December 1991.

LESSONS IN LUST - released at the Hurricane and Brutal
party on Samsoe 1992.

Other demos from us includes Nomads (1989), Extravagance
(1989) and 1 year demo (1990) as well as some 1 part meeting
demos. If you need any of the above mentioned demos for your
collection, feel free to send a disk or more to

Brian Olesen, Ronbjergvej 5, 8240 Risskov, Denmark

and I'll see what I can do.
Let us leave the raw facts for a while and take a closer look
at the group. The reason why XF has lasted so long is
undoubtedly because of the friendship. And I guess that also
applies to other old groups in the 64 scene. Just take a look
at many of the 'great' speed cracking groups that arise and
then die half a year later. I believe that is because the
communication in the group is by phone or modem only, and
you can not build a real friendship on the basis of that.

Anyway, in X-Factor we had this meeting every 2 or 3 months,
and the majority of the group usually showed up. Of course
we used a lot of time on computers at these meetings - that
was our common interest - but as time went by we spent more
and more time on other activities.
In these days, many of us are not exactly teenagers anymore,
and our time is more limited due to studies or work, our
meetings have become less frequent, but the friendship is
stronger than ever.

That is also why X-Factor will exist as long as our friendship
endure. The group has been announced dead by several mags
during the last 2 years just because we did not release a
dozen cracks and a demo every month. A group is dead and
gone when its members have decided to split up! That is why
we would rather call it our retirement or departure than
"X-Factor is dead". First of all we are still friends and
secondly the group will continue to exist on the PC.

Well, I guess that is all. We in X-Factor hope you will remembe
us for being a decent demo and cracking group. Thanks must go
to everybody (except a few, who will go un-named), who we
knew and respected in the scene, for the good years.

X-Factor bids the 64 farewell and

Ace, Atrox, BCC, Bundy, Dexter, Einstein, Exulans,
Godfather, HIC, Jaws, Jeff, Protector, Sculpture, Skyhawk,
Spiderman and Zensonic

look forward to make your acquaintance on the PC!

PS: Remember to check out our 'Farewell' demo coming soon!

A. You are IT. 51 %
B. I call bulletin boards, telling everyone what losers
they are being there. 22 %
C. Ehrm, it looks as if rain is headin our way. 12 %
D. I am pumping iron... and stuff! 12 %

That was our look at some of the opinions the sceners of today
are of - I am glad there are so few of them (NOT). Thanks to
everyone that participated and keep on calling GRAVEYARD...

Board Report

     THE BOARD REPORT - By CROSSFIRE/MOTIV 8
        ____________________________________
                                               ---
This month we caught up with White Lightning/PSI who have re-
cently put up a board for his group named REBELLION. Further
more the dutch co-op THE RULING COMPANY + SUCCESS was
offered to use the board as their American HQ, which they ac-
cepted.
                                               ---
We send the SWAT-team to White Lightning's house, put him in
the chair and forced him to answer our questions, which he did
and therefore his life was spared.
                                               ---
Well, enough crap! Let's get started..
[C] = CROSSFIRE/THE PULSE MAGAZINE
[W] = WHITE LIGHTNING/PSI - Sysop of REBELLION.
_____________________________________________
[C] Hello there TRENT, and congratulations with your board.
It has been up for such a short while and already the ac-
tivity is overwhelming. It has been online for about two
weeks now, how would YOU describe the activity on it up
    until now?

[W] Well, the board has had an amazing takeoff so far. On the
very first day I had 15 new applicants, and it seems every
body has been calling since then. In the first week there
were over 100 calls, an average of about 15 a day. This is
quite an accomplishment for a new board.. -Next page!-
[W] (continued)..so far it has been kicking ASS! I do expect an
increase ofcause in the traffic I receive as word spreads
and the word remaining bugs are worked out. A lot of guys
seems to want to contribute to the board. CAVRON/TRC
did the text prompts, and I am expecting better graphics-
screens any day now (Big hint DAMMIT!). It's a cool feeling
to have this large of a succes in this short amount of
    time.

[C] I believe you used to sysop another board in the past. Why
did you take it down, and what made you put up a new and
    other one instead?

THE PULSE MAGAZINE - A True Power Surge!
[W] For about six months I ran a local board, but I was forced
to take it down. Back then I only had 2 floppy drives, and
while I made a lot of friends running it there was just NO
WAY I could compete with all the IBM-boards in the area.
In my area code there are only TWO non-IBM boards that I
know of, one is an Amiga 3000 lamer-wannabee-pirate bbs,
and the other is an Amiga 4000 multi-node pay board. A
TON of the boards have over 1 GIG of storage, and several
has multi CD-ROMs or gigabyte tapedrives. I took my board
down until I got my harddrive, and that is when I kicked a
bunch of locals and started running a semi-elite board,
much like EDGE OF MIDNIGHT. One night during a pause in
my calling-out spree, my term displayed a RING on it, so I
    hit ATA. -Next Page!-
[W] (continued).. That was the first time I met Ed (MUTANT-X).
We talked for a while, started out by ragging on eachother
but eventually got to talking. I found out he was starting
PSI, and I offered to re-organize my board and put it up
as PSI's HQ. Soon after I was in PSI and two months later
the board was finished and ready to come online, an ENTI-
RELY different board from what I was running before, new
name, new software, new EVERYTHING. Now it is 100% elite
ONLY, no lamers are allowed on!

[C] The board was always meant to be PSI HQ, but you were
close to get some other groups on it aswell, such as
AVANTGARDE, MOTIV 8 and TRC+SCS. How come you chose
    that one you did?
[W] With the scene the way it is today - Euro dominated that
is, I felt that the only way to go, was to invite a Euro-
group onto the board. AVANTGARDE had hidden plans back
then (THE FORUM, etc.), but MOTIV 8 was VERY close to
using the board as US HQ. Plans changed however, when
MUTANT-X asked BURGLAR/SCS if they wanted to use
the board as a WHQ. SCS + TRC decided to drop EDGE OF
MIDNIGHT, which was infested by local lamers, and take up
REBELLION, a 100% ELITE board. I immidiately seized upon
the offer, as SCS + TRC probably are the most powerful
co-op ever formed (Ahem, guess you're forgetting quite a
few older ones! .ed). How could I possibly resist? Hehe..

            REBELLION/SCS+TRC+PSI HQ: XXX-XXX-XXXX.
[C] A lot of new board has got HUGE problems getting the elite
to call it. Yet, it seems that is the least of your worries
since most of them seems to be there. How come it was so
easy for you, while others may find it so hard? Any spe-
    cial trick (joke..).

[W] Haha! That one is an easy one to answer! The reason that
elite calls my board is because ONLY elite can GET on my
board! If a person isn't worthy of Elite N/A access, they
will not get on. They call because there are no lamers who
is fucking things up like on some other boards. I'm a fair
sysop once you are on my board, and I treat users with the
respect they deserve. Afterall, a board is just like an
    electronic personality contest. -Next Page!-
[W] (continued).. If people likes the feel of the board the way
it is being runned, they call it. Otherwise it will DIE!!
Therefore I have to be cool about shit and try to please
the majority of users. If something needs changed, I'll do
it! The users make...OR break...the board.

[C] Please give us an insight in the equipment you use to run
    your board...Soft- aswell as hardware.

[W] Here is the equipment it is currently running off on:
    - CMD 40 Megabyte Harddisk.
    - 512K Ram Expansion.
    - SupraModem 24oo with Peak Interface.
                                           -Next Page!-
[W] (continued).. I'm hoping to improve the board in all three
of those area's. I am looking fr a RamLink right now, and
in early summer I'll have the board running at 9600 baud
with a SwiftLink. I know for a fact, that next fall will
bring another HD to the board, at LEAST a 300 Megs one.
For my software, I am running StyxModded C*Base 3.2.
I keep Styx busy trying to perfect the board and keep the
bugs to a minimum. I know the REBELLION wll be going thr-
ough drastic transformations in the upcoming months, and
with alot of support and a little luck it may emerge as a
    TOP-5 contender in the US.

THE PULSE MAGAZINE - Always First With The News!

[C] Do you have anything to add, any last words of wisdom or
    whatever?

[W] I want to send a few thanks to the dudes that have helped
me out in the last few months: MUTANT-X/PSI, SOLAR/
    F4CG, BURGLAR/SUCCESS, STYX/PSI/CCS, RUG RAT
(Sysop of EDGE OF MIDNIGHT), MAJESTY/TALENT,
    COUNT ZERO/TRSI, JAZZCAT/LEGEND, CROSSFIRE +
    TRICKET/MOTIV 8, CAVRON/TRC, ALCHEMIST/GENESIS+
DEMONIX. It wouldn't have such a succes without you.

Now GO and call the board! - XXX-XXX-XXXX!

We in the staff of THE PULSE MAGAZINE wish this new board
REBELLION all the best for the future, may you live for as
long as you want, but never want as long as you live. All the
best. Thanks to TRENT (WHITE LIGHTNING/PSI) for being on
his toes and already 25 (!) hours a day to answer these
questions.

THE MARCH PROFILE - KRING OF CAMELOT
         _________________________________
In the light of this months special topic- the scene media of
today, we have invited one of the very best in the business.
He is currently actual with the blockbusting CAMELOT mag,
REVEALED, which has proved to be perhaps the most sophis-
ticated magazine ever produced in the 64 history.

Our March Profile is not only a very skilled editor, he is also
a superb graphician, which I am sure that we will see a lot
more from in the future productions, of both CAMELOT and
PROFILE ENTERTAINMENT.

Please welcome, KRING of CAMELOT!
[D] Welcome JESPER. Please give the readers a summary of
your C64 career up to present time!

[K] Well, the real highlights started when I met P.A., NIGEL,
ROB and RASMUS XXXXXXXXXX, joined CAMELOT and founded
PROFILE ENTERTAINMENT way back in 1992. Later on we
released the premier edition of REVEALED magazine, and I am
now mostly working on Visualisation/Animation and design for
the forthcoming productions for PROFILE ENT. Besides that
I am of course from time to time releasing some of my other
graphics for CAMELOT. These days we are desperately
searching for a negotiation on our new games by sending our
promotion-disks around to some of the English companies. We
are hopefully also expanding to PC-game-production soon!
[D] You have made quite a breakthrough in the scene as the
general editor of REVEALED. Who did infact come up with the
idea of making a magazine such as REVEALED?

[K] The original REVEALED-concept has been entirely made
by me, both concerning graphics, design and contents. I would
not have made it, if I did not have the right people to work
with. Thanks to all of you, especially to NIGEL and ROB of
CAMELOT, R.W., P.A. and J.N. of PROFILE ENT. and to the
sick people in LUEGE GRAFIKK.

[D] You have also made all the graphics for REVEALED, which
I must say is quite remarkable. Do you see yourself as a
graphician rather than an editor?
[K] I think they are a tad pinky. Too pretty - I hate pretty
stuff, but I guess they suit the design. The repercussions of
my writing-duty for REVEALED is now that ROBS graphics (if
you can call it that) are better than mine. Writing REVEALED
can be sucking, but I guess the mutilation keep us going.

[D] What an answer! REVEALED is unlike other magazines
known to the scene. Please tell us a little about REVEALED
and its contents.

[K] Finally somebody asking about contents in times where
packaging has more influence. REVEALED magazine is only
supposed to concentrate on the professional- and the legal
demoscene. The fact that the readers should be entertained
instead of bored is the main emphasis. If we have nothing to
write about, I do not think it benefits releasing something.
Are we known to the scene? Where is our fanmail, hehe! Well,
among our regular chapters, the news are of course having
serious interest. We do only report on people worth reading
about. No smalltalk and which does not have a wide interest.
I think too many have misunderstood our intentions of our
targetgroup. Of course all illegal promotion (which is crap
anyway) has NO place in REVEALED. What you can read about,
is the latest happenings, reports, interviews from the legal
programming-scene. We have gamediaries, classifieds columns
(legal only) and lots of reports and stuff. Furthermore the
programming-chapters written by R.W. mostly concentrate on
game programming. Next edition will have regulars, features
and programming as pulldowners.

[D] Sounds pretty good. You have put out 3 editions now,
how well do you think the sceners has accepted REVEALED?

[K] Of course we are glad people like what we are doing, but
too less are contributing with articles and stuff. This is
desperately wanted! We want more readerinteraction concer-
ning the game-programming-articles. Stop supporting other
loosermagazines.

[D] Maybe you should consider a different approach, maybe
that would increase the readerinteraction! How would you
grade your own work for REVEALED in the first 3 editions?
[K] Oh shit.. That depends. If you think about REVEALED # 2,
then I must inform you that the edition was very rehashed
caused by our invitation for the party 1993, which we would
like to spread very fast. But of course REVEALED 1-2 cannot
be compared with future editions. Every edition from now on
will improve, but I guess the magazine already has made a fine
appearance by now.

[D] CAMELOT was involved in the making of the biggest com-
puter party EVER, The PARTY 1993. There has been a lot of
positive response, but also a lot of critisism about the party.
What is your opinion about the event?

[K] I think that The PARTY 1993 went pretty well, compared to
the last year, but you are right that some bad sides are
obvious too. The Amigaorganizers have been very hostile both
to us and the PC-organizers. The prizes were badly divided,
and most C64-competitions had a very minimal amount of time
reserved. You can thank us that we changed the democompo
from 1 hour to 2 hours after a lot of problems. It was a bit
sad that we HAD to exclude lots of groups from the compo, but
we could not do it any other way. Sorry.

[D] You wrote something about leaving out the Amiga in The
PARTY 1994. How would that be possible, and what is your
motive for that?

[K] To make it simple: We and the PC-organizers want the
Amiga totally excluded next year. I do not hope it only results
in a lamer warning, how the theory will be realized is a tad
unclear at the moment. But it is the Amiga who is behind "The
PARTY", so we have to join forces, and do our own party.
Other Danish teams interested?

[D] Let us have a talk about it Jesper. Anyway, will CAMELOT
then put its name on the party in 1994?

[K] If no other groups are capable of taking up the effort,
we could well be headliners next year too. The Party is an
important C64-event each year, so if we do it again, we will
try to equalize the differences (prizes, compodeadlines, etc).

[D] That sounds absolutely great. Moving over to CAMELOT.
You won the demo-competition at The PARTY 1993, with the
excellent demo TOWER POWER, congratulations! What are
the future plans of CAMELOT now?

[K] It seems that SLAMMER has surpassed himself. The party
contribution was only a preview of what to expect. Final
release will take up 2 sides of a disk. Future plans? Laziness
I guess. No seriously, many are involved in gameproduction,
and some are working on forthcoming productions, but for now
we stay pascifists. You can expect something even more
spooky though, but do not hold your breath (CRUZER is pre-
paring his comeback, and VIBRANTS will do music. Graphics by
me and ROB of course. Very secret!). I better shut up?
Besides that, we have other surprises. The PARTY 1994 maybe.
You have not seen the last of SLAMMER and even GLASNOST
and RASMUS WERNERSSON (RAZ) either.

[D] I am waiting with great anticipation. Today CAMELOT
consists of almost 90% of all the talented musicians, coders
and graphicians in Denmark. Howcome we see so little from you
guys?

[K] 90%? Slight exaggeration there. You are right that CAME-
LOT is getting bigger, but so do for example CREST, CENSOR,
FOCUS, FAIRLIGHT, TRIAD, etc. It does not really matter if
you make sure that the dudes are sick enough, have any
special skills and of course are not "normal". I guess Denmark
has too many "freelancers". Some sick groups could be formed!

[D] Now there's an idea, coders and graphicians running all
over the place vomiting!?! What is the current memberstatus
of CAMELOT, including everyones functions?

[K] Oh my god.. Please forgive me for not bothering to mention
it. Grab REVEALED and read the Alternatext-chapter for the
complete memberstatus. METAL is still in CAMELOT though. We
also have some contacts on Danish papers, and periodicals
writing CAMELOT-PR. Maybe we will open a CAMEL-farm and
have CAMEL-cars in the future. Who knows?

[D] Yes, well (?). METAL was in REGINA, but due to the lack
of communication (there was none), he was excluded from our
memberstatus- and is thereby only in CAMELOT now. Let us
return to the interview. What is the main concern for CAMELOT
at the moment, releasing REVEALED or producing demos?

[K] The only members bothering writing REVEALED is me and
RASMUS WERNERSSON. I am not gonna write anything until
some of our coders care about writing a bug-free editor (hey
NIGEL!!!). Demos and games do have higher priority than
writing REVEALED. But we will keep releasing REVEALED every
second month if people (keep) send us some money!

[D] So we established that you are only in it for the money
then, heh? Now tell me JESPER, what are your future plans
with the good old 64, and are you currently active on any
other computers?

[K] I will enter PC- and CONSOLE game-graphicsdesign some
time in the future, but I will stay on the C64 as long as the
scene is here. Games can be sold, do not feel any pressure or
are bothered about it. I use an AMIGA 1200 for additional
animations and stuff, although it sucks..

[D] Yes, AMIGA does suck! Would you like to send some greet-
ings before we close the book on this one?

[K] Regards to all insane people! Check out the latest from
the 'REVOLTING COCKS'. Pinkyyyy...
[D] Eh, what? Thanks a lot for being a good sport, I am looking
forward to the next REVEALED, and the coming demos from
CAMELOT!

[K] Yeah! What do you mean about being a good sport? (ed. I
ment that it was cool of you to do the interview!!!). Do you
mind if I use some space to say something? Here goes..

If people want to ensure a stable future for the legendary
CBM64, write a letter to COMMODORE, and request them to
start CBM64-production once again. (It is not the first time
they stop the production).

... More follows on the next page ...
Reserve future editions and contribute by writing to (SAE
prefered) :

            EDITORIAL
            REVEALED MAGAZINE
            C/O PROFILE ENTERTAINMENT
            XXXXXXXXX XX
            XXXX XXXXXXXX
            XXXXXXX

- And then we at THE PULSE MAGAZINE proved, that we do not
mind helping out fellow magazines, eventhough they are among
those considered our competition. Next month we hope to have
two interviews for you, maybe even one from NEWSCOPY/G*P!

* OXYRON and CREST swaps places for the third time now. I
predicted CAMELOT a major boost in the charts after their
awesome TOWER POWER demo, but instead they moved down
to the 7th place. Perhaps they will pick up next time!

* TOPAZ BEERLINE re-enters the charts as our highest new
entry. Also TABOO re-enters the charts!

* LIGHT and VISUAL REALITY lost a lot of votes, and dropped
out totally. Word is out that VISUAL REALITY might release a
new demo in the near future though!

* Several groups are getting ready for a major chart-raise.
Among them being FAIRLIGHT, FOCUS and SPIRIT!

* CROSSBOW is back at the # 1 place, with TTS being sent off
to the 2nd place. This is the third time in a row that this
happens, so I hope for a change in the top very soon (HINT)..

* BOB moves up the table to the 4th place, consequence of
the latest CENSOR DESIGN demo, SPASMOLYTIC. Also MMS of
TABOO is moving up the charts, now figuring on the 6th place.

* UNIFIER/SPIRIT and SLAMMER/CAMELOT are still left out
by the voters, but they will undoubtedly become a hot topic in
the chart within too long.

   10 (7) CRUISE/ELYSIUM 11
* CREEPER still the number one graphician in the scene, but is
in serious competition with ELECTRIC.

* MIRAGE is back in great form, and proved his skills with an
amazing picture at the CAMELOT party. Hopefully we will see
more of him in the near future.

* ROB of CAMELOT is the big surprise this time, moving up two
places to the 6th place. He may very well be one of the big
names of 1994.

* BIZ KID is welcomed in the chart by the voters, with CRUISE
loosing support, and may move out of the chart by next time.
DEATH/TOPAZ BEERLINE quit the scene, and dropped out.

* JEROEN TEL back in the first place, with SYNDROM having
to settle with being second again. Quite unfair though, the
latest music by SYNDROM is terrific, and he has done a lot of
it aswell.

* DRAX is to be found among the active musicians again. Also
DANKO is said to return with something very soon, great news
for the music fans there.

* JEFF/CAMELOT enters the chart, and may very well prove
to be one of the great musicians of the future.

* REYN OUWEHAND, DEEK and DOS moves out of the chart,
while MOON/FLASH INC. and ZYRON/ANTIC PROD. re-enters.
OVERALL COMMENT from the editor.. [Legal charts]

The charts are beginning to look better, now that most of the
inactive and retired sceners are knocked out. Please continue
to vote for the skilled and active sceners, they should be
rewarded for the great work they do to keep the 64 alive!

Since our last look at the overall chart, a lot of demos has
been released. But I think there will still go a couple of
months before we will see a total change in the charts, always
keep in mind though, that YOU play an important part when
putting down your votes on the sheets. Take a look at the
latest productions, and place your votes from that. Besides,
the retired and inactive sceners has no use for your votes!

they took over the second position.

+ ILLUSION is dead, so please stop voting for them from now

* TALENT moves down, eventhough they seem to be back in
top shape after HAIN joined in. Also ALPHA FLIGHT is being
seriously cheated by the voters, they ought to get a lot more
votes looking at the releases they have put out lately.

* EPIC died and moved out of the chart. MOTIV 8 took over the
empty place, with a lot of votes since their birth.

OVERALL COMMENT from the editor.. [Illegal charts]

I still wonder why the voters are so keen on voting for the
old and legendary sceners. They might be excellent crackers,
but there is no sence in voting for their past achievements.
We have got monthly charts (this chart only every second
month though) to reward the active sceners in that period.

One thing is quite clear though, the voters prefer the groups
that makes their wares available through their swappers. This
was also confermed in The New Years edition, when BURGLAR
of SUCCESS told us, that the swappers in SUCCESS played a
vital part in the succes they have had in the charts.

* The OVERALL CHARTS now also includes the TOP 10 for the

* NETWORK is in the voters opinion the best magazine around,
but according to our sources, NETWORK is not being produced

predict the chart to change with a lot of new, aswell as old,

WORLD OF DEMOS - THE DEMO REVIEWS
       _______________________________
Welcome demo-lovers to another edition of the popular chapter
WORLD OF DEMOS, your guide to what is HOT- and what is NOT
on the demo-market.

We are very appreciative of all the attention we have got
during the last couple of months, read more about that. Here
follows the list of WORLD OF DEMOS editors.

General Editor DUKE/REGINA
Programming Critic STEVE/REGINA
Graphical Critic SUN DANCER/REGINA
Musical Critic DRAX/VIBRANTS
WORLD OF DEMOS has proved to be probably the most talked
about chapter that offers demo-reviews EVER. There are many
reasons for this, one of them being our wide variety of editors
working together to write a complete review of the demos we
decide to take on every month.

We got a lot of response, but sofar we have not made room for
all of those letters that we get. Therefore we decided to
include all the future letters addressed to WORLD OF DEMOS
in the new MAIL-BOX chapter next month. We are very willing
to respond to your letters, therefore we urge you to write
positive or negative reactions about our work, this way we can
get even better at doing this chapter.

We were also asked by a lot of people to review their demos,
but as you already know, we have limited space, and wants to
give every demo the kind of attention that it deserves. But we
do want to review your demo aswell, so send it, along with
your reactions to the following address :

THE PULSE MAGAZINE
XXXX XXXXX

Also feel free to use our hotline if you have any immediate
questions - +XX-XXXXXXXX (DUKE/REGINA).
We would like to thank everyone that mailed in their demos for
us to review, this is the demos that we decided to put on our
March program :

CRYSTAL SHEEP 2 by CHARGED (REVIEW)
________________________________
STEVE about the coding,
I really wonder what a Crystal Sheep looks like?! Please put
one into Crystal Sheep 3, if you will do one. Oh well. Not a
whole lot to say about this demo. It was not actually bad, but
it had too many of those things you see all the time. A vector
TV-box (a real good one, though!), some kinda wave-effect.
Then rasters with z-values like OXYRON did, flexers and
similar stuff, that seems to be trendy right now. Shadebobs
(lame!), transforming glenzvector (Koolt!!!!) and a textplotter
(a vectortriangle throwing dots at the screen, creating
letters for a textwriter)...
I'd give this demo 65 % overall.
SUN DANCER about the graphics,
A wierd mixture of plain, hideous and pretty graphics hits the
pixel-center of my brain. I see CRYSTAL SHEEP - aarrggghhh!
Well, guess not.
CRONOS also touched this demo. For not too long ago, he put
out a slide called CRONOS GFX COLLECTION. Since then, he
has learned how to make logos. Still, I like his pictures far
better than his HI-res logos.
STONE, one of the 5 graphicians in CHARGED, should look for
another work. Pictures like his, should be forbidden by law.
On the other hand, AMC knows what he is doing. He still have
things to learn, but I like his single-colour graphics. His HI-
res still need a little polishing, but I guess that is just a
matter of time.
This was the winner demo from the ELYSIUM+ANTIA party.
Compare this demo to TOWER POWER/CAMELOT - the winner
of The PARTY '93. This really shows the difference between
Western and Eastern top demo groups.

Graphical rating: 39 %.

DRAX about the music,
Most of the music in this demo is quite boring. The music in
this demo was made by COMPOD and CLEVE, and it's an emotio-
nal roller-coaster. The second party has pretty good music,
so does the loader that comes after the second part, but the
last parts are very poor. What is there to say to this demo,
other than boooring. I will give it 52 % for the music!

MINDLESS by AMNESIA (REVIEW)
_________________________
STEVE about the coding,
Phew!! Just when I saw this demo I thought it was done by the
Danish we-have-a-big-mouth-and-no-brains-whatsoever-
geezers called AMNESIA. Fortunately, it wasn't! (And that
pulled this demo up by 10%.. Hehe!).
First part requires a lot of work. However, OMEGA OLAV did
it ages ago. It's a dycp in sprites over a VSP bitmap-picture.
Next part is a REEEAAAALLLLTTTIIIMMMEEE transformer.
Wowow and go gadget!!! Actually it's the princip of changing
linewidth each rasterline as seen in e.g. PRODUKTHANDLER
KOM HER! by CAMELOT, and has nothing to do with metamor-
phosis (it IS realtime, but show me a raster-routine that is
not!!!).
Again a C64 coder has been watching PC demos - This time
FUTURE CREW's UNREAL. This demo has something called
WORMHOLE (simply sort of a tube-animation) .. And simsalabim!
Now we have a wormhole on the C64 aswell (one we don't have
to be ashamed of!). Finally we are presented to a small super-
hires picture (OF A GIRL!!! HOORAY!!! FINALLY A CODER WHO
KNOWS WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE!!). To those who say
'huh?' when I say superhires, I can say that it is a hires-
picture with more than 1 colour. (In this case, 40 colours.
Atleast that's what the scroll said, but what do I know. I am
colourblind). The demo ends with an upscroller. This demo
deserves 60 %.

SUN DANCER about the graphics,
The first AMNESIA demo, but not the first time CALYPSO
makes graphics. Generally I liked this demo, eventhough it
could have been better.
ARTIX is a mixed kind of guy. The intro logo is something like
directly ugly to look upon. But in the first part, he gives a
really pretty pictures - leading my mind on to some sort of
ANS style. If you have seen the picture, you will know what I
mean. Also I like this demo, because it is with the good old
"PRESS-SPACE" technique.
I hope to see more from CALYPSO and ARTIX, they both have
it in them. And besides CALYPSO, this beats the shit of any
partydemo, you have ever supported.
A well deserved 66% for the graphics.

DRAX about the music,
Most of the musics are made by JVD of FOCUS. The music itself
doesn't sound that impressive, but the sounds are outstan-
ding, because they are stolen (lend) from one of my old tunes
(Botanical?). By the way JVD, I have heard much better music
from you. The best compositions are made by MAC 2.
I'll give it 55% for the musics.

LEGOLAND III by FAIRLIGHT (REVIEW)
_____________________________
STEVE about the coding,
TRON has been very active since he joined FAIRLIGHT, and
this latest product of his was exactly what I expected from
him; A load of stuff looking good, but with little or no hard-
core programming. Not that I hold it against him - Hell, even
I code this way from time to time (hehe..). Anyway. On with it.
The first part(s) of the demo is the usual designstyle thingies
with a graphics fading, scrolling and jumping. I'll leave that
up to SUN DANCER to comment.
Then there's a flexerscroll with a chessboardeffect behind it.
A part which most of all reminds me of the good old days when
rastercoding was in.. (Unfortunately it's not anymore). Next
part is a FAIRLIGHT logo rotating around the X-axis. I didn't
bother to see if this was an animation. I hope not. But I guess
it looked allright.
After flipping the disk (already?) there's some filled surface
z-clipped vector. Looks neat, and I'll leave it up to you to
decide whether or not YOU like something like this being
precalculated. Apparently TRON saw the SURPRISE! PRODU-
CTIONS (PC) fractalzoomer - Atleast he tried to copy it by
doing THE lamest attempt of scoring lamervotes I've seen for
a long time (I was told that people CLAPPED at this thing at
The Party '93?! I wouldn't know as I were asleep). What it is
a bunch of RVS-ON squares that are panned and zoomed on
the screen. Looks lame and IS lame. Boguspart.
After that we have some wierd unexplainable things behind
an FLT logo. Doesn't prove TRON as a hxwizard either, but
check it out, it's nice with something new for a change.
Next part though is real lame. An animated vectorcube
"walking" on a chessboard. The animations are very limited,
making the cube look real corny. It doesn't do much for the
part than the cube can walk to the left and the right aswell.
THEN there's a part I really like. Probably because I had the
same idea for a part back when SILENTS released their
"HARDWIRED" demo on the Amiga. I never did anything about
the idea, and TRON is the first I've seen to do this on the
C64. What I'm talking about is a rotating vectorcube (filled)
where dots from one side fly from the box to create a text
image otherwhere on the screen. Unfortunately the dots just
fly - they don't actually hit their destination where the
text is drawn. This looks like a bit of a mistake, but it is
not. It's just a way of doing this much easier. After this,
TRON has more PC stuff to offer. Now he's taking us for an
anal-ride through a dot-tunnel (BEYOND FORCE would LOVE
this!!!).
Then there's a bunch of (8) shadebobs, whereof 4 draw and 4
delete. This gives a pretty good effect compared to normal
shadebobs.
The last PC inspired part is another mandelbrot fractalzoomer.
Just like the one in CRYSTAL DREAMS II by TRITON. Sure it's
animated, but I still think it looks neat. Last part is a huge
animated vectorobject (filled) with nothing particular about
it. It's just there, being big.
This demo deserves a total of 70%. Even though the program-
ming isn't as great as the code in e.g. TOWER POWER, it still
consists of a lot of great ideas.

SUN DANCER about the graphics,
The graphicians in this demo, namely VDK, OGAMI and CREEPER
all did a great job, too bad the programmer fucks it all up.
When giving a rating for a demo, I judge the visual effect
given and the quality of the graphics. Let's begin with the
quality. CREEPER's main logo is a thrill for the eye. I just
plain love it. OGAMI did a great picture, and VDK also made
some very nice PIXELS.
TRON, the programmer, just screws it all up. There is A LOT of
bugs between the different routines, and that just fucks up
the visual effect of this demo. Too bad, for the FAIRLIGHT
posse. Mayve this demo should have been released 14 days
later, and then had been finished.
This rating should be blamed the programmer, not the talented
artists that made LEGOLAND III honour. Rating : 62%.

DRAX about the music,
Nice intro tune made by BJ0RN R0ST0EN. The music is filmlike,
and it gives a feeling of greatness. After having fade up, the
musi turns into a more ordinary style, but still far beyond
most music on the C64. - Well done BJ0RN.
The rest of the musics in this demo are average. I wonder how
RED DEVIL managed to beat P.R.I.'s competition-tune at The
Party '93, since P.R.I.'s tune is one of the best pieces I have
heard in a long time on the C64. It doesn't mean that I find
RED DEVIL's tunes crappy, but I certainly find it strange that
he won the music-competition in HERNING. 61 % for the music!

TALES OF MYSTERY by SPIRIT (REVIEW)
_______________________________
This demo is introduced with an intro ala LAST NINJA 3. I do
prefer the real thing though (which should just about cover
what I think of this!)
The actual demo starts with a 'raytrace' scrolle. And even-
though the effect itself is just (?) some scrollers, I must
admit it looks OK when they are projected on a ball.
Which reminds me that I went to a rave last month where images
of the moon, saturn, jupiter and whatever was projected onto
a huge balloon. Maybe that's where UNIFIER got his inspira-
tion? (No?!) Ohwell. After loading (and loading..) a vector-
shadeline routine appears. It draws some neat patterns, and
it's even in FLI (eventhough this might be hard to tell when
watching).
Now we have a flexerscroll with a hires-fli VSP image behind
it. The only problem is that the left part of the screen is
missing!! OK, so FLItiming screws up the screen if it's not
done fast enough, but this routine demands so many VIC
updates each rasterline that the FLI timing screws up nearly
half the screen. It can be discussed whether hires-fli is
worth loosing half the screen to.
Last part is a real treat. It consists of some stars, some
(realtime) vectorbobs + (realtime) filled transforming light-
sourcevector ALL at the same time. These are all things I
consider small and lame, but when you combine them all at the
same time, it gives a great and much more lively effect (com-
pared to people who just put a vectorbox on the screen and
rotate it!!!). This demo deserves 80% for above average coding.

SUN DANCER about the graphics,
TALES OF MYSTERY, featuring ANS of SPIRIT as main gra-
phicians, is one of the prettiest demos, so far this year.
A very nice intro, perfectly mixed with the great music, gives
an inredible visual effect. The main intro graphics, was all
converted from the AMIGA game, MOONSTONE. ANS shined
them up, and the result: a cool intro.
Furthermore this demo includes some small pictures, a fli
picture by ANS, an interlaced woman-picture, and a lot of
very artistic backgrounds. CANE and ANS both proves that
SPIRIT should have a higher place in the charts, regarding
graphics. A lot of the graphics in TALES OF MYSTERY, was
either converted directly from the Amiga, or inspired by it.
Most remarkable is an a-fli picture, done by ANS. ANS have
throughout the years proven to be a great fan of dolphins,
but with the talent he has in drawing them, I just hope to see
more from him. A stunning 89% for the graphics!

DRAX about the music,
Most of the tunes are okay, but I wonder why some people keep
on switching between filter and non-filter in one voice. - Do
you want to obtain a click or what (CANE). By switching bet-
ween filter and non-filter, you get an an annoying click-sound,
I guess you haven't got an old C64, because on the new ones
you don't hear those clicks. So stop switching between filter
on and filter off. The best tune is the intro tune, which is
made by THE SYNDROM/TIA/CREST. It is very atmospheric,
and fits very well to the rest of the screen. Well done Matt-
hias. I will give it 64%.

PIXELS, editor is SUN DANCER of REGINA, courtesy of THE
PULSE MAGAZINE.

1. PROLOGUE.

PIXELS have become a popular chapter in THE PULSE. This
is proven by 2 things;
The massive flow of letters to me, SUN DANCER, and by the
way other mags (all of a sudden) have started doing graphic-
reviews.

Thanks to everybody who supported this chapter, without you
PIXELS would never had seen the SUN(tm) light. You know who
you are, and I am thankfull for all your moral support, graphic
collections and your critics.

Since I started writting PIXELS, a lot of POLISH sceners have
written to me for swapping. Due to bad discs, and missing
papernotes, a lot of their addresses have been lost. I have
nothing against swapping partners, so you really should write
me again. This time please include a papernote, with the your
address. -Thankyou.

A lot of Eastern'ers have also written to me, about the
Western/Eastern thing. Most of them agrees with me, that the
west have higher standards. On the other hand, the Eastern
scene is the West far superior regarding being active. The
Eastern demoscene produces demo after demo, applause for
that.

Not many western groups can say the same.
2. REACTIONS.

As mentioned I have earlier, I have recieved a surprising
amount of letters to PIXELS. Some positive and some VERY
negative. Thanks to everybody who wrote me their oppinions
and ideas. Specially thanks to ELECTRIC/EXTEND.

I don't have the time to print all the lettes I have recieved,
but some of them will be printed in the next edition. As of now
a reaction column will be regular in PIXELS, so feel free to
send in your letters. Address last in this chapter.

However, a certain reaction from me IS needed...

OPEN LETTER TO RRR/OXYRON.

Dear RRR,
It is my firm belief, that when people start calling me "SUN -
LAMER" and giving me threaths of physical violence,
meaningfull discussion as I know it have come to an end.

I mean EVERY word I have written about COMA LIGHT 11. What
you did WAS a DIRECT STYLE-COPY, from the old "elite-
fli-scroll" in the BLACKMAIL demo DUTCH BREEZE. I have
consulted others on this subject, and EVERYBODY agrees
with me: There is no doubt to where your inspiration came from!

If you can't take the truth, try to be more creative yourself..
This have nothing to do with a personnal attack, as you claim.
I don't know you, and untill I recieved that note written by
you, I had nothing against you.

If it was an excuse you were looking for, you must be in a
very bad mood by now. However if you just wanted your name
on print, smile and be happy. I consider this case closed, if
you have anothe oppinion just continue to spread your
childish notes and giving me threaths. I don't really care...

Yours,

SUN DANCER of REGINA

4. USING THE PC/AMIGA.

Everybody with an AMIGA or a PC, and the intelligence of a
chicken, will sooner or later figure out how to convert between
the different computers. It's a piece of cake!

But is it okay, or should it be condemmed?

Actually I think it is okay. I really believe that transfering
from one computer to another is acceptable. It is fair enough,
as long as certain rules are followed.
First, it must be made clear that a convertion did take place.
Don't just that you did it yourself, that is more or less

The same as ripping. Tell the public the truth, they derserve
it by far.
Second, you have to credit the guy that originally made the
picture, if not an IMPORTANT credit will be missing.
Last but not least, your converted picture may under NO
circumstances participate in ANY competitions. Winning an
award for something you didn't really do yourself, is not
very ethical.

I myself am both active PC and 64 wise. As I have far better
drawing-programs on my PC, I now make almost all my graphics
on my PC, and then converts them. It's faste, easier and I
did myself anyway.

For the record, I have also converted the other way.

One of my stylish charsets, was succesfully converted to the
PC and used in the 4th price winning PC demo at THE PARTY.

ANS played "MR. CONVERT" in the newset SPIRIT demo. He
converted graphics from the AMIGA game MOONSTONE, and
did a great job doing it. After shining it up, he came up with
a very stylish intro.
Lucky for SPIRIT that they did write the credits, as I knew
the origin of the graphics, and would have made a big thing
out of it. HONESTY pays!

In my oppinion the most important thing about graphics is not
how it was made, but how it looks.

So if anybody converts anything, and sticks to the rules
I have mentioned before, he will NOT be slaughtered in either
PIXELS nor WORLD OF DEMOS.

Reactions on this subject is mor than welcome.

                              ..Yours, SUN DANCER of REGINA.

5. EPILOGUE.

The end of this edition have come.

For anything regarding PIXELS, or THE PULSE MAGAZINE in
general, leave me E-mail at either the US or EU boards I call
to. Or write to me, like so many have done it before you.

SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT - DEBATE AND INFORMATION
      ________________________________________
Welcome to Special Assignment, the March edition. This month
we have a very contriversial topic up for discussion, and we
hope to see a lot of readerinteraction on this topic, as it is
something that concerns us all.

The biggest industry in the scene today, is the information
industry, no doubt. Special Assignment will take a look at
some of the available magazines out today, and comment on
what they have to offer different from every other magazine.

We end this months Special Assignment with the second article
of the INTERNET, written by MASON/MOTIV 8!
(REVIEW) REVEALED 3rd edition (REVIEW)
_____________________________________________
REVEALED is undoubtedly the most well-written magazine in
the history of the 64-scene. However, it needs to be, as it is
directed towards the professionel scene, and is currently the
only disk-magazine that is written on financial grounds.

But you really have to admire the text-layout in REVEALED.
From beginning to end, it radiates not only confidence, but the
experienced editors makes you feel even more comfortable,
when reading through the articles about the latest company
news from the game industry, demo-related news, programming
tips and much more. All in all, it is a worth to read magazine
with a lot of original ideas that makes it unique in its field.
REVEALED is definately a good magazine, but what really bugs
me is the lack of coverage from the demo-scene. It claims to be
a demo-magazine, but they miss out on a lot of the major
stories, and thereby they disqualify themselves in terms of
being able to cover the happenings in the demo-scene.

REVEALED also has a very advanced English. That ought to be
positive, but I believe that most of the sceners have problems
with reading it through, without having to use their dictionary
atleast a hundred times. However, this is only the 3rd edition,
and undoubtedly, it will improve to become a powerful media.

.. REVEALED is somewhat of a Pioneer. It dares take on the
major software companies, to fight in the name of the 64 ..
(REVIEW) METAMORPHOSIS 2nd edition (REVIEW)
_____________________________________________
Now here is an original name for a magazine, eventhough I
suspect most people don't even have the slightest idea what
METAMORPHOSIS actually means. But, no matter.

To begin with METAMORPHOSIS provides a pretty nice outfit,
with an easy to read text-output. That ought to lay grounds
for a pretty entertaining magazine, but unfortunately, no!

Apart from the most regular mag chapters being : Editorial,
News and rumours, Advertisement-corners, demo-reviews,
mag-reviews and an interview chapter, METAMORPHOSIS fails
to provide the reader with any kind of new-thinking, which
really puts a black mark on the whole concept of ANOTHER
magazine of this kind.

METAMORPHOSIS brings out no sign of editorial opinions what
so ever. I realise that most editors share different opinions
on objectivity, but I sure miss a bit more creativity. Howcome
noone is out there in the market, searching for the major
scoop, that will push the magazines share of the market to
the absolute top. Something to think about there for sure!

This is only the second edition though, and I feel confident
that the editor will try harder, and perhaps prove to the
very critical audience, that METAMORPHOSIS can be unlike
every other magazine of this genre!
(REVIEW) NEWS PRESS 13th edition (REVIEW)
_____________________________________________
NEWS PRESS is made by REBELS, and looks to be a very good
magazine for the general scener. But like most other mags out
today, something is missing.

I cannot exactly put a finger on it, but my guess is that it
lacks the own-made chapters, which is what should make NEWS
PRESS different from all the other 50 magazines. I am not
talking about REAL-LIFE chapters, those are for the editors
that are either too boring or they simply don't know anything
about the scene, and are therefore forced into bringing real-
life contents for the magazine. Pathetic and rather pointless
if you ask me. Fortunately NEWS PRESS has none of that!
The catagories are like most other medium magazines. There is
nothing new with NEWS PRESS, although they manage to live
up to their claim - which is very good.

NEWS PRESS is by far NOT the number 1 magazine today, but
it is among the 10 best ones undoubtedly. For NEWS PRESS to
reach the top 5, they would need to find a way to come first on
some major scoops, and perhaps change their program a little.
Meaning, I miss a few special contents - which should be
characteristic for NEWS PRESS only. But that goes for just
about 90% of the mags today anyway, although NEWS PRESS
is in the GOOD end!

(REVIEW) REFORMATION 7th edition (REVIEW)
_____________________________________________
FAIRLIGHT has used a lot of energy, on trying to boost their
magazine REFORMATION up between the top mags in the scene.
But they seem to have failed it all together, and the change
of editors remained JUST a CHANGE, as nothing revolutionary
happend with REFORMATION, although it did get a bit better.

REFORMATION is the kind of magazine, that you read when you
are in an indifferent mood. It doesn't really serve you any
spectacular stories, and the only opinion they have, is that
they are the number one magazine - although all the hardcore
evidence is left OUT. I do believe that REFORMATION mean
well, and hopefully they will work harder, to earn their votes!
REFORMATION is in the top 5 though, but right now the only
reason for that, is the label that REFORMATION is released
under. Unless the editors of REFORMATION plans a bunch of
new ideas, I really wonder how they can keep on. The way I see
it now, it is FALLING DOWN. Something HAS to happen, and
something spectacular aswell.

But if FAIRLIGHT can settle with having a mediocre magazine,
then I guess it is okay the way it is now. But magazines should
only be around, if they are able to make a difference. Most of
the magazines today, are more destructive than a help to the
scene - that does not go for REFORMATION though!

Work on it FAIRLIGHT, and I am confident that you will succeed.
Now we have had a look at a couple of the magazines that the
scene has to offer, picked out because they all represent
what you may call "different genre-groups as they go".

I believe the 64 has a lot of good magazines to offer, and it
definately beats out the lamer mags on both the Amiga and the
PC - they are a disgrace. But unless we keep working at it, the
quality level will decrease, and with that only bad things can
happen to our dear scene.

Therefore I ask of you, the readers, to write in your opinion
of what you find relevant when it comes to being in a C64 mag.
I will print your letter in here next month, when we continue
this topic until we have come up with something constructive.
                                 ----------------

We are still working on the address-list for net-addresses
and we are still interested in getting more addresses. In short

Sending Mail From InterNet to FidoNet
------------------------
It's very easy to send mail from InterNet to FidoNet. All over
the world you can find organisations that deliver your mail
to FidoNet. Personally I use the FidoNet.org adress!
                                                ---
You can contact your deliever and ask for the formel to send
the mail. In standard you have to turn the address around and
put a letter infront of the number. Fx. you can the letter "N"
for node. If you don't how to use it, you can contact me on
the InterNetaddress. Remember: If you send from InterNet to
FidoNet, it can take up to 7 days to deliever.

Sending from FidoNet to InterNet
---------------------
It's very easy to send from FidoNet to InterNet too. In this
situation you can an UUCP organisation. First you send your
mail to him, and in the next lines you write the InterNet-
address and then the letter. If you have any troubles contact
me on the internet address or contact us by mail.

Next time we will try to release the first version of the list
and don't forget to send it to us. If you have many questions
about sending from InterNet to FidoNet and FidoNet to Inter-
Net, I will make some examples for you.

Signed, MASON/MOTIV 8 for SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT!
