                INTERNET
               -INTERNET-
________________________________________
   -Hackers Dream, Sceners Paradice-

INTERNET, todays Cyberspace...
Consisting of about 3-5 million
computers, Networked around the Globe
with about 4O million users.

Schools, Businesses, Military,
Research Labs and Commercial Public
Access Computers providing Services
for Millions of people 24 hours a day.
Services like INTERNET MAIL, DIRECT
LINKS, FILES, IRC, INFORMATION.
All this at your finger tips...

... and what good can this all do for
a normal C-64 SCENER?

Well, it gives you a direct access with
ALL the Computers around the World
Connected to INTERNET. You can send
eachother mail for a price for nothing.
You can also send FILES/WAREZ in your
mail to whom ever you'd like to.
Basicly you can send your groups latest
warez to all C-64 dudes/dudettes in
the Net. In Other words, Extremely
FAST Spreading around the Globe in
a matter of minutes. You can forget
fighting for your cards to get warez
when you can get the latest warez to
your own INTERNET MAILBOX DIRECTLY.

INTERNET computers are usually run on
a UNIX machine. Easy to use, with
PC-DOS type of commands. Usually they
include all the Help files for the
Absolute Beginners.

In INTERNET you will have something
called FTP that stnads for FILE TRANSFER
PROTOCOL. A protocol that is used from
your "SITE", from the computer system
where you are calling from.
It gives you the possibility to "GET"
files from OTHER Computers in the
NETWORK. Some Computers in the NET
have special Areas for C-64 warez.
But usually only for Legal Software,
but that doesn't stop us for not making
a site for having all our latest warez
available for the SCENERS.

That kinds of FTP SITES are usually
more or less kept secret from the
normal users.

We have also something called IRC that
stands for INTERNET RELAY CHAT. In other
words, a HUGE CHAT SYSTEM that is daily
used by Thousands of People around the
GLOBE.
IRC doesn't have a "physical" place in
the NET, it just exists. Most of the
Computers are Connected to it with a
IRC SERVER. It allows people to access
it from their computer and join all
the different channels in it. "TALK"
LIVE with people around the world.
Everyday there are about 1OOO channels
to choose from or you can just make
your own Channel. Channels, ROOMs where
people can talk with a huge croud.

There are all kinds of CHANNELS on IRC,
like #PHREAK, #C-64, #HOTSEX, #SWEDEN,
#SOFA... Just everything for everyone
to choose from. The #C-64 CHANNEL is
usally crouded with all kinds of C-64
users... Sceners, Non-Sceners,
C-64 Emulator(PC) people and old
Sceners.

Just a Fun Place to Be in.
In time You will automaticly get
ADDICTED of IRC. You find yourself
spending more and more time "meeting"
and "talking" with the people of IRC.

I could say that, EVERYTHING YOU NEED,
YOU CAN GET IT FROM INTERNET SOMEHOW.

HOW DO YOU GET ACCESS TO THIS FABULOUS
"HIGHWAY" OF CYBERSPACE.

Well... If you study on a College or
a University, They are Very Certaintly
Connected to INTERNET.
If you work for a Big Company you could
ask the System Administrator for INFO
about that. Call your Local Phone
Company and ask if they Know or can
Provice you with INTERNET ACCESS.
Atleast for Americans this is very easy
B'coz all the States in U.S have Public
Commercial Sites that "SELL" INTERNET
access for some amount of money.

Then again it's harder for Europeen
People to find Commercial Sites in
their country. Try calling the phone
company several times and talk

with several people and you should
be abel to find a person who can help
you with this.

...OR there is always ANOTHER WAY,
a faster way for all Hackers/Phreakers
on the Scene... To use Someones
Credit Card to Card a account in U.S.A.

These accounts usually arent't long
lived ones but gives you a certain time
to enjoy the pleasures of the NET.

At this moment there are a Huge Buch of
old/new/todays C-64 SCENERS connected
to INTERNET.

I could mention groups like G*P, SCS+TRC
, OLD-ILLUSION, MSI, FBR, FLT, PADUA,
TALENT, LEGEND, CONTEX, FOCUS, STYLE,
F4CG etc etc... the list is long.

GETTING THE WARES FIXED
GETTING THE WARES FIXED BY NEWSCOPY/GP
________________________________________
When the American market opened up to
Europe some years back, we were all
welcoming it by heart and did so,
seduced by the speed of the wares,
and the feeling of taking part of the
action instantly. Competition in terms
of speed grew to incredible measures
and at the early days of cracking this
often led to the fact that quality was
mostly missed out.

Today's scene looks a bit different.
Not only is it a well established
standard to get the wares fixed in
order to obtain the first release, but

it is also a sign of caring about the
people overseas. It might very well be
that the market has decreased over
there, of people actually playing the
games, but fact is, I still get a lot
of letters from people sending me lists
and onwards who want to purchase games
from me, and they praise the NTSC/PAL-
rules that have come along with the
firstreleasing rules.

Therefore it is evident to fix a ware,
not only to show the people at the
boards who got hold of the game first,
but to offer supreme quality measures
to people at all sides of the globe.

A tragic turbulunce that has come to

affect the market lately, however, is
putting the game out PAL only, even
though the game actually can be fixed.
This is incredibly egocentric, con-
sidering that the only thing that
proves valuable then, is for the group
to get their name out on the field.
1993 was a terrible year in terms of
fixing. Groups were popping out a lot
of wares, and many of them never got
fixed, as the groups were to lazy to
get a fixer do the job, and kept
blaming it on "a decreasing American
market".

1994 started of well however. A lot
of groups have understood the value
of a game getting fixed, and some

reluctant ones have simply had to adapt
themselves to the old rules coming
back. In a way, one might say we are
turning back time again, but what we
in fact are doing is offering a better
more qualified release that serves the
purpose for everybody.

People fixing in the USA have actually
been on decline since the black year
of 1993, but it seems a rise might
very well occur. Groups are getting
back to fix games for group, and from
there competition will be back in full
effect, because after all, beneath the
fact of getting it fixed lies the
competion.

________________________________________

Many people fear today's market, where
Europeans are starting to fix games
themselves. Maybe it is just a trend,
that will last until the Americans
come back in full effect, but one shall
not fear it.

In fact, it is really the most pleasant
way of solving the fixerproblems.
There is nothing standing in the way
from the fact that Europeans might
become as good at fixing as today's
best Americans.

One problem can occur, however. Some
1O groups can crack the same game and
get it fixed by their European fixer,
and claim THEY were the first. Then,

only then, the upload logs on the boards
can tell who actually got the game out
first. The log never lies, but this
event of the scene really triggers
competion, especially as a ware is
really valuable for a group these days.

THE LACK OF CODES IN THE US
THE LACK OF CODES IN THE US.
________________________________________
Back in the good old days, the
Americans had all the codes, while
the Europeans had all the wares.

Today we face an entirely different
market. The Europeans have all the
wares, and have also grabbed hold of
all the codes. Many American fixer

groups stand codeless, and in a way
they only have themselves to blame.
What I hope to see is a rise of
American people calling out. I hope
to see them, begging for wares,
triggering competition between the
Europeans, and most important of all,
triggering the competition between
the American groups. I pray for it,
and in some way I know it will happen.

More and more Americans are finding
their way back. More people are
eager to fix. Well, we are eager
to give.

       Reflections a fuzzy night.
