             TALES OF THE CREST

-- ----------------------------------- --

Welcome to the August edition of THE CREST
magazine! Like every month we also bring you this
time the latest happenings, stories and much more,
that reached us within one month via the boards or
via the most used medium Internet. If the one or the
other thing isn't 100% correct, we ask you to inform
us about this so that we can correct it in the next
issue then. Pity it isn't possible for us to check all
news that reach us within one month, even though
effort is made NOT to include rumours. We hope that
               you can understand this.

And now I (SHOK'RAY) give the keys over to our buddy
                  HARDSEQUENCER...

Yoyo, here we go. Another month, another issue. But I
can tell you: This issue was definitely no easy walk!
In deed it was as hard as never before to get this
edition released. You can see this in the fact that
this issue was put out very late in comparison to the
other issues before. This has of course some
reasons. And summarizing the reasons can be put
together all in one word: REMOVAL. The THE CREST
main-editors (DODGER, SHOK'RAY and me) all changed
their living-places within the last few weeks.
Especially with DODGER it was very complicated as
his new home is about 700 kilometres away from his
old one! And with a removal there is also the
problem with getting a new phone-line (with the
german Telekom it really is a problem!)... So DODGER
wasn't able to neither call to boards nor the
Internet. And as DODGER is also the one who puts the
magazine together and puts it out on boards and the
Internet and as his removal fell into that time, which
we usually release the magazine in, we really came
into some trouble. And just only one week later I
got a new home so the chaos was perfect, you can
imagine. So we are damn proud that we also solved
this problem without losing the magazine out of our
eyes. This was really a damn hard test for the
                 magazine main-staff...

Anyway, then there also we have some REAL news
concerning the staff. We got a new staff-member.
He is a quite talented composer and his name is...

              >>>     THE ALIEN/W.O.W.   <<<

He will support us with some music-reviews from time
to time. And he already showed tremendous
activity in this issue! He wrote the music-reviews
for the demo-review of FLEXIBLE 2/OFFENCE and
also reviewed the musics from the ASSEMBLY '98.
                 Check these articles!

Then this issue it also happens again that we have
a guest editor, who this time supported us with a
       party-report. FANGORN/ALLIANCE/VAUDEVILLE
attended the SCENERY '98 in Podkowa Lesna Glowna/
Poland from the 3rd to the 5th of July and wrote
an exclusive party-report about it for us.
You can read his impressions from this party
together with a look out on soon upcomming parties
in the this time quite nice filled chapter entitled
                 PARTY EVENT COVERAGE.

Well, that is now all that I (HARDSEQUENCER) wanted
to say in the editorial this time. So now I hand the
keys again over to Marco (SHOK'RAY)...

Okay, thank you Sascha. Now as usually let's
continue with some general info about THE CREST...

              SCENE SPOTLIGHTER

-- ----------------------------------- --

Hiho everyone and welcome to the pal-news section
once again. This time this chapter is quite large,
although it is summer! This was of course caused by
the huge number of parties that took place in July
and August. There also went by more weeks than
usually since the release of our previous issue, but
you know the reasons for this when you read the
TALES OF THE CREST.
Anyway, let's have a look now at the latest
happenings and updates...
 CHROMANCE [hun, ger, pol...]

Their old member ROUGH got back to activity. At least
he said so himself, but besides this he didn't show
any activity yet.
The group's EHQ called VIRTUAL LIGHT has now a new
number. From now on it can be reached under...
+XX-XXX-XXXXXX!

Gone ones..: L.A.STYLE, MANIK, MENDRAKE

MENDRAKE quited the scene and so LAXITY lost their
EUROPEAN HQ THE DRAGONS TOWER.
The crew gets even more smaller , as L.A. STYLE left
them because no one from the group felt like saying
something about the re-crack accusations from
MOTIV 8. L.A. STYLE didn't like this and left, taking
his board THE HIDDEN with him.
Then also MANIK decided to leave the group and
joined REMEMBER instead.

First of all they got their very own FTP site on the
Net. It is called THE SECRET GARDEN and can be
reached under 194.27.15.8.2001! The login is ONS and
the password DOMINATION.
So MR. BRAIN as maintainer of THE SECRET GARDEN got
put on the active status again.
Then also JAZZCAT has created a new webpage for
his magazine DOMINATION. You can check it under...
----------------------------------
Then DEEKAY finally decided to leave the group once
again to stay in CREST only.

overseas scene report

               The "Overseas" Scene Report
                  Compiled by Uzzy of RPG

Well, how do you like that?

A few weeks late and a couple dollars short, another
NTSC review chapter is comin' atcha by the one and
only (and somewhat missing) Uzzy of The Renegade
Programming Group.

This chapter, like every other one, is shorter than
usual mainly due to the fact that I've been
ludicrously busy dealing with other things, and so
my scene time has been cut down to a bare minimum.
That bare minimum, however, includes writing my
chapter on time, so here you are.
First I want to give a big shout-out (?) to the one
and only Dave Keene, who not only threw the biggest
party this past week in the history of the eastern
seaboard of the United States, but also let his
web connection be used for five hours nonstop in
pursuit of the NTSC news. Props. Whatever they are.

Those of you who wish to let me know about things
that are going on outside my line of vision can Email
me at:

                  uzzy(at)c64.org

And then I can put more information in this chapter,
which will make many people (myself inclusive)
happier than they might otherwise be...
THE NEWS:
----------
- The NTSC 4k Demo Competition deadline is still
September 10th. This is not so much news as it
is a reminder to those of you who wish to compete.

- Rumour has it that Starlost, previously of Carcass,
has been found and was not really killed years
back, as previously suspected. There is even a
chance that he may return to the scene soon.
Shadowmaster/CCS is apparently the only scener
who knows his whereabouts, and he's keeping it
secret for now. Speculation exists that Starlost
is actually locked in Shadowmaster's basement,
but this can not be confirmed at this time.

- There is a story floating about the media about
the Renegade Programming Group taking part in
some Iraqi-infiltration campaign for the United
States government. This hasn't been absolutely
confirmed, but then no members of RPG can be
  found either, so who knows...

- Style news. Apparently Ohio Arts, the company
that releases the "Etch-a-Sketch," noticed a
review of Style's demo "Etch-a-Style" on the
Driven homepage. Ohio Arts then threatened
a lawsuit if the review was not removed, as the
product name "Etch-a-Sketch" was used various
times and they were not exactly happy with that.
More news of this as I get it.

And now, your UBIQUITOUS GROUP-LIST UPDATE:

And that's your listing...

Okay, people, closing words time. I need help here.
I'm going to be expanding the NTSC scene coverage
in THE CREST, going with interviews and biographies
and stories and reviews and whatnot, but I can't
do this without something called "reader support."
If you have news, or if I've made some horrible
mistake or omission, then please let me know. It
makes my job a hell of a lot easier, you know, and
then I can spend more time on the other quality
things you'll find in the Crest, like the above
mentioned reviews, interviews and whatnot.

So join in! I'm just one guy on a crusade here, and
I don't know how far into the future I can carry
this scene. But, hey, that's a somewhat negative
note to end this on, so I'm not going to. What I'm
going to end this on is a big greet to The Dodger,
who's back in da houze (?) after going a few
thousand kilometers south. Good to have you back,
Dude. Don't know what we'd do without ya.

And to everyone else: Merry Christmas! What? Er...

Oh yeah, here are the charts once again. Your
favourite chapter in your favourite magazine!
No, just kidding!
Anyway, I know that you all are reading this fucking
chapter and like it as well, so I (HARDSEQUENCER)
again sacred some of my spare-time and counted
all votesheets to give you the lists you want.
Don't be angry when you don't like what you see, but
it was your choice, because these charts are
influenced by YOU, our readers! And here we go...

(>) means same position like last month
__ ___________________________________ __
Comments:
---------
Some really surprising changes we have here. OXYRON
kicked CREST off the top-spot again after some
time.

The biggest surprise are REFLEX, no doubt. They
climbed from 5 up to 2 and put CREST down on the
third place.

Highest new entry are LEPSI DE, who surely are
here to stay. Also AGONY are back in here again.
Instead HITMEN and ALBION had to leave the chart.

(+ ) means better position than last month
__ ___________________________________ __
Comments:

The illegal scenes proves to be quite constant. No
changes again on the first four places. AFL are still
in the clear lead.

LAXITY and REMEMBER swapped their position with
each other.

ONSLAUGHT re-entered the Top 10 after last month's
abscence. Also EXCESS are in here again while TRIAD
and NOSTALGIA both had to leave this cracking
scene reflecting chart.

              10.(>) DRUID/AGONY/FAIRLIGHT........(022)

(- ) means worse position than last month

Comments:

No big changes here as well. CROSSBOW still the
number one and GRAHAM and AEG trying to catch him.

OSWALD made a huge jump from 7 up to the 4th place
while MR. SEX finally got the result for his
inactivity and fell one place down to 5.

A huge surprise is the re-entry of QUISS on the 9th
place. I just wonder why people started voting for
him again even though he left the scene some years
ago.

JACK ALIEN still on the top spot, but IGNORANCE stole
him quite some points and got a bit closer. Maybe he
can finally take over the lead again next time...

BURGLAR and DIDI both climbed one place and
MOONCHILD fell from 3 down to 5.

CBA managed to score some more points this month
and so jumped from the 10th to the 7th place.

DONAR and SKINHEAD re-entered the Top 10.

DEEKAY again the undoubtable number one with again
about twice as much points as ELECTRIC, who
occupied the second place this time.

TYRANT made a good jump from 8 up to 4, but this
month's winner is ASTAROTH who re-entered the Top
10 straight at the 5th place!

Also CUPID, CREEPER and KATON are re-entries, who
pushed SEBALOZ, AEG, RRR and MIKE out of the
spotlight.

Comments:

As usual enormous changed here. MITCH+DANE had to
leave the top-spot for the second time. This month it
is good old DRAX who scored more points then the
swedish duo.

On place no. 3 PVCF made a massive "comeback" and
also the new talent TAXIM splashed right into the
chart and conquered the 4th place!

Also new in here is DAF while ORCAN, P.R.I. and
KRISTIAN ROSTOEN had to leave.

-- ----------------------------------------------- --
This time we had no self-voters! At least I didn't
recognize such an incident... :)
Obviously we got a bunch of old votesheets, because
they featured many votes for by now gone sceners.
So that might explain a bit the "revival" of some
inactive groups/sceners this month.

the july list

__ ___________________________________ __

                THE JULY LIST

-- ----------------------------------- --

We are very sorry, but this issue it happens for the
very first time in the history of THE CREST that we
can't present you the monthly releasecharts!
This has of course certain reasons.
DODGER had to do a removal and in his new home he
didn't have a phone line, so he wasn't of course able
to call the boards and check all the releases. This
wouldn't have been such a problem at all because me
(HARDSEQUENCER) leeched everything for him, but
the next problem was that DODGER couldn't take his
C64 with him to his new home within the first weeks.
So he wasn't able to check the releases and judge
them.
And now that DODGER got his C64 working in his new
flat we thought that it would be more important to
put the magazine out as soon as possible, even with
leaving the releasecharts out. Because making the
releasecharts would have taken some more days for
DODGER and then it would have been too late for this
issue to get released, because we really care for
a steady releasedate, as you know!
But you needn't worry, because next month this
chapter will be back in its usual style, strength
and contents. And of course you will then get the
releaselists for July AND August! That is sure! We
promise this!
Well, we hope that you don't care about leaving this
chapter out this time and understand our reasons.

mms - profile

__ ___________________________________ __

           LEGAL PROFILE OF THE MONTH

-- ----------------------------------- --

This time I give you a smalltalk with one of the
founders of the most popular Polish demo group
ever.
About one year he left the scene for good with the
two years delayed release of ALTERED STATES 50%.
With us is the one and only...

           >>>       MMS of TABOO     <<<

And here we go...
(C): Hello MMS! Can you please introduce yourself a
      bit to the audience?

(M): Okay, here we go: My real name is XXXXX XXXXXX
and I'm 23 years old. Right now I study
computer science on a Silesian Technical
University near Katowice - the city I live in.

(C): Aha... And is it true that K.M./TABOO is your
      brother?

(M): Yes, he is!

(C): Okay... Well, let's get over to the scene related
stuff. When did you get your first CBM64 and
when did you get in touch with its scene?

(M): Oooohhh. It was terribly long time ago... As far
as I remember I was 13 or 14. Of course I did not
enter the scene then. It happened 2 or 3 years
      later.

(C): And which groups have you been in since then?

(M): TABOO. Only one group so far!

(C): Oh, so TABOO was your one and only group... So
you have been one of its founders, haven't
      you?!?

(M): I have. We built TABOO just after releasing our
first demo together with my brother and two
      other graphicians.

(C): And which demos have you released under the
      TABOO label since then?

(M): MORE THAN NOPS, GONE WITH THE WIND, PLACE IN
THE SPACE and finally ALTERED STATES.

(C): And it seems ALTERED STATES was and will be
the very last TABOO demo then, I guess. Or can
we expect a comeback from you or your group
in the near future on our beloved machine?

(M): Not on C64 I guess. But surely you'll be able to
see some new stuff from us on PC very soon.

(C): What can we expect from TABOO on the PC?

(M): Games! The motorbike simulator is half-done
and I really hope we will release the demo
version quite soon. The second is strategy,
but it needs more time to work on...

(C): Aha, so we are looking forward to these ones
at least on the PC... But do you still have a
      CBM64?

(M): I do, but I don't use it anylonger since I have
      excellent emulator on my PC.

(C): Now that you mentioned the C64 in connection
to the PC, I got another question... The 64
scene concentrates more and more to the
Internet. Do you think that this is okay and
maybe a good way to go?

(M): Surely Internet makes the C64 scene living
much longer. But I think, there's no bright
future for C64 anyway. After all it is old
enough to be the computer with wide future.
Personally, I hope I will keep in contact with
the people I met in the scene, and not the C64
      itself!

(C): You said that you don't think that the CBM64
has a bright future... So you think it is dead or
will die very soon, at least the scene?

(M): Well, it is not already dead. It won't be dead as
long as people will do something on it and
about it: new demos, Internet sites, etc.
It's really hard to guess, how long it will
survive, but I'm sure it will not grow as it did
      in the past...

(C): Yeah, that's fur sure!
Let's have now a little look back on your
experiences in this scene... What did you like
      most of all about it?

(M): I'm sure, those were the parties, where you
had a chance to meet a lot of interesting and
talented people. I guess nobody would make a
single demo if there were no parties, compos,
      etc.

(C): Yes, it really seems so nowadays. These
parties really motivate people a lot. True!
But was there also something bad about the
      scene that you didn't like?

(M): Coders, who were ripping somebody else's
work, wars and crappy disk magazines.

(C): Uhu, should this be an attack against us?!? At
least we can say that we are not a crappy one
      at all... :)
And which event or experience in the CBM64
scene would you call the best that happened
      to you?

(M): There were a lot of advantages of being on
the scene: I've learnt coding, have met a lot of
people, have had much fun on the parties. I
really don't know which one was the best.

(C): Ah, I see. Well, let's get over to some
brainstorming now. Please give as short as
      possible answers when I say...

(M): Parties..: The best way of spending time!
      Sex......: Even better than partying.
Alcohol..: Good beer rules. 40% Polish vodka
                 sucks!
Internet: The best communication media, people
                   invented so far.
PC.........: A tool for using the Internet!
Phreaking: A way of making calls when the
                    telephone company has a lame
monopoly (as we have in Poland).
         Boards.....: An Internet substitute.
         Trackmos.: A challenge for coders!

(C): Okay... Some interesting answers here!
By the way, what do you as "legal" sceners
         think of the cracking scene?

(M): Well, I don't know. A lot of the "illegal" guys
were cracking games just for fun and fame.
Guess, it was not so much illegal. The others
did it for money. That sucked!

(C): You are also known for your friendliness. But
did it maybe happen that you had the one or
the other war with some guy in the scene?

(M): No! Defintily not! So-called wars were probably
the stupidest thing I have ever seen in the
         scene.

(C): Ah, so you don't like wars... Let's get over to
         some other stuff then...
Are there any coders on our machine that you
         respect like hell?

(M): Yes, a whole lot of them. I respect anybody
who's good in what he does! It doesn't matter
if he's a coder, graphician or anybody else.

(C): So are for example guys like CROSSBOW,
         FLAMINGO and SLAMMER among them?

(M): CROSSBOW was definitely the best "raster-
coder" on C64. Also FLAMINGO and SLAMMER were
         very talented coders.

(C): Yeah, I can agree with this.
Anyway, let's get over to the CBM64 scene
nowadays. What do you think of today's spirit
         in the scene?

(M): To say the truth I must say I really don't know
         what's up on today's C64 scene. I have quitted
some years ago. To be honest I haven't seen a
single C64 demo for 2 or 3 years...

(C): But I guess you know that stuff like 4X4
effects are very popular and often used
these days... What is your opinion about these
         effects?

(M): It depends on the effect. It looks OK if it's
for example a zoom-rotator or something like
that, but I don't like if the whole demo is 4X4 -
even the parts which could be easily done in
         320X200.

(C): Yeah, true words. I also can't understand this.
Another trend in the demo scene is to copy
effects from PC. SMASH DESIGNS even went one
step further and copied a whole PC demo. What
do you think of the idea of copying PC demos
on the CBM64 and of the SMASH DESIGNS'
version of the FUTURE CREW's SECOND REALITY?

(M): It's surely interesting. Guess, it would have
been better if they "copied" the demo right
         after FC released "2ND REALITY"!
Unfortunately I haven't seen the SMASH
DESIGNS' version of the demo yet.

(C): I can tell you: You didn't miss very much! :)
In 1997 you and your groupmates in TABOO
surprised the scene with the final release of
ALTERED STATES... How did it come that you
TABOO guys went in coop with ELYSIUM for this
demo and how did it come that you then after
some years decided to release your parts
         only?

(M): We have decided to do a coop demo a few
months after releasing our PLACE IN THE SPACE.
I guess it was a bit too late. The most of
ELYSIUM and TABOO member were already bored
with making demos - some of them have left
the scene. In fact, the whole demo was
finished about 3 years ago but there was
nobody who wanted to collect the parts and
put them together and release the demo. Last
summer we decided to finally do it, but we had
no ELYSIUM parts and probably no possibility
to get them. That's why we released only our
         part of the demo.

(C): That was a good decision without any doubt. In
my opinion it was one of the best demos in
         1997.
And why did the TABOO posse stop their work
on the CBM64? Was there a special reason for
this or just that NO TIME thing?

(M): To be honest, there was one reason: I bought a
PC. And as I study computer-science I think PC
is a right computer I should pay my attention
         on.

(C): And what are the other members of TABOO up
         to?

(M): Me, my brother, SHAMAN and WAYNE and FAZEE
are producing games on PC now. Our musician
SHOGOON definitely left the scene and
computer at all. CRESH and CRUISE are living
         their own life I guess.

(C): By the way, where did you get your handle
         from?

(M): It's a secret! Yes, nobody expect me knows
that! Probably because it's quite stupid I
         guess, hehe!

(C): Hmmm... Mysterious! I guess it has something
to do with your name... At least the two Ms...
But I'll leave this topic because it seems you
really don't want to talk about this... ;)
So, to sum up your scene career in a few
words... Would you say that the C64 and its
scene were an important factor in your life?

(M): I guess it was. It really was! The sixtyfour was
also the best coding-teacher I have ever had!

(C): Okay, let's get off the computer as subject...
Do you have a dreamgirl? If yes, what does she
         look like?

(M): Do you want me to send you a photo of her?

(C): Nice idea... ;)
Imagine you had to go to a lonely island! You
could only take three things with you... What
         would these three things be?

(M): A sailing yacht, GPS and a notebook with
cellular phone - to have a possiblity of
sending and receiving E-mails while my cruise
         to home!

(C): Tricky answer! Hehe...
By the way, what is your opinion about
         graffiti?

(M): I don't like it too much... At least if it looks
         ugly and it mostly does...

(C): Aha... That was the last real question... The end
is very close and now you have of course the
possibility to say whatever you want without
         and censoring, hehe!

(M): Ok, I'd like to greet all my friends from the
good old C64 scene and invite all of you to our
         Internet site at http://taboo.eu.org
                          --------------------
where you can find all our stuff we have
released on both C64 and PC so far.
         Keep good work!

(C): Yoyo, that should be all then... I hope I didn't
bore you too much with my question... Take
care and much luck for the future on the PC!

(M): Bye!

SECOND LEGAL PROFILE OF THE MONTH

-- ------------------------------------- --

Here you get to read an interview with a great
composer, who left the scene for good in 1993.
Recently there was spread the rumour that he might
return to the scene with his music-label SIDCHIP
SCRATCHERS. So to get some comment from him about
this rumour and to ask him some other things we
decided to do a nice smalltalk with him. He is...
  >>> GUY SHAVITT of SIDCHIP SCRATCHERS <<<
And now have much fun reading this interesting
profile!
(C): Hello GUY SHAVITT. Nice that you want to spend
       some time with us.
Now let's start straight with a short
description of your person in general, please!

(G): Name..........: Guy Shavitt
Date of Birth.: March 9, 1973
       Age...........: 25
Status........: single (but not for long...)
       Height........: 1.83 meters
       Eyes..........: green
       Hair..........: blonde/light brown
       Place of Birth: Israel
       Occupation....: Developer for a software
                       company called EAGLEEYE
                       CONTROL SOFTWARE. Check out
                       WWW.EAGLEEYESOFT.COM for
                       --------------------
details. I develope in C, mainly
                       on Mainframes (MVS Operating
                       Operating System) and WinNT.

(C): Aha, interesting. Now please let us slide a bit
through your CBM64 scene history, from the
         beginning up to now!

(G): Well, it all began in, I think, 1987 or 1988, when
I was 15 years old. Actually, I think it was even
         before that...
I bought my C64 box, played games for a couple
of months, and then started learning
Assembler from books and other people's
codings. I began writing all kind of stuff, when
I met NIR PEDHAZUR and we formed a group
called THE THING. We did some anonymous demos
(If someone has a copy of them, keep it! It's
         precious antique stuff!).
At some point in time, THE THING merged with
THE FORCE, which was, until then, mainly a
cracking group. It was the biggest group in
Israel, managed by the legendary DANNY
BOUZAGLO, who had hundreds of contacts
around the globe. Me and NIR began writing
intros and demos for THE FORCE. At that time I
was only coding and did not write any music.
The big music bloom began, I think, when I got
the famous FUTURE COMPOSER. I started playing
around with it, and the musics came out quite
nice. This was before I learned musics and
chords. After some time I decided that music
business should be my main occupation, and
created the SIDCHIP SCRATCHERS music label. In
addition, I wrote, with the help of my friend
NIR P. the SIDCHIP SCRATCHER'S MUSIC PLAYER.
The first version was quite primitive, but still,
it was my own music player (which in that time
         was unique).
With time, I got better and better, my music
player had many revisions and improvements
and I started to get recognized (not to say
         famous) in the scene.
I composed music for many big (and small) demo
groups, for disk magazines, and some games
(CRAZY CARS 3, BLITZ, CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING etc.)
In the end of 1991 I was recruited by the army,
and became less and less active in the scene,
         until total disappearance in 1992/1993.
I still have my C64, but have lost all my disks
         containing many of my unpublished/incomplete
         music work.

(C): Wow, nice story. I got to know quite a lot of
new things about your history. Nice! What's not
so nice is the fact that you lost all your
musics... Would have been nice to hear some
"new" old musics from you again.
Anyway, some days ago there was spread the
rumour that you will return to the C64 scene
and start composing again... Is this true or
         a lie?

(G): Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't
have any plans to return to the C64 scene.
However, it is true that I'm going to compose
music again, but on the PC.
And I may do remakes of some of my old C64
tunes. You can say I'm going to move the C64
         scene to the PC...

(C): A pity, would have been nice to have you and
your music label back in the scene...
But you mentioned that you might do some
remixes of your old C64 tunes... Please tell us
a little bit more about this project!

(G): DR. J is trying to convince me to make new
remixes of my C64 musics in a studio and
release it on CD. I'm quite tempted to do that,
and already have lots and lots of cool ideas
for some of the tunes. But it requires a big
investment (time, money and other resources)
and only if I see that there is enough interest
in the scene I may do it (you can send your
support in the project to GUY(at)NETUNE.NET )

(C): I'm sure many especially old sceners would be
interested in that CD. Besides this it would
also be a nice memorial for yourself, wouldn't
         it?!?
So, you also said that you will concentrate on
the PC scene now. Please tell us a bit about
your plans concerning this and about your
         other goals!

(G): These days I'm making my entrance to the PC
music scene. Currently I'm building my music
library (samples) and knowledge, and getting
ready to release some stuff on the PC. I'm
working on some XMs to release in the near
future. DR.J of THE FORCE will manage the
spreading of the stuff on the Internet with
         his site (THE FORCE's site).
In addition, I play drums in a rock music band
here in Israel. We are called GOOD QUESTIONS
and we are currently performing in all kind of
clubs and pubs. We sent a demo CD (recorded in
a professional studio) of us to big record
companies and are waiting for replies. I may
release the songs in MP3 format on THE
         FORCE's homepage in the future...

(C): Sound good, we wish you much luck then with
your band. Maybe we'll see you one day on
         MTV?!? ;)
Some answers ago you also mentioned that you
are working for a company called EAGLEEYE
CONTROL SOFTWARE... What is the goal of this
         company?

(G): We are developing a multi platform (Unix,
Windows NT, MVS, etc.) security administrator
product called CONTROL-SA. It is targeted
mainly to big computer sites with a large
number of platforms and users. We have
customers such as NESTLE and US-WEST. Our
goal is to make companies understand the
importance of security administration on their
         platforms. Check out WWW.EAGLEEYESOFT.COM
         for details. ----------------------

(C): Thanx for these special infos.
But now let's get back to the C64... Who were
one of the very first scene buddies you got
         to know?

(G): All kind of guys from THE FORCE in Israel, the
guys from BABYGANG (for whom I wrote the
         music for CRAZY CARS III).

(C): Are you still in contact with some of them?

(G): Sadly, I lost contact with DANNY BOUZAGLO. I
still see NIR P. from time to time, I'm also in
contact with DR. J of THE FORCE.

(C): How many music have you done on the CBM64?

(G): Tricky question... More than ten, less than
         hundred...

(C): Tricky answers, too! Hehe...
And did you ever earn the respect, that you
thought you deserved, from other sceners for
         the musics you did?

(G): Yes I did. I got many great feedbacks, many
requests to write music for demos and
magazines. I've received high places and
ratings in all kinds of lists. In the peak of my
period I've even reached the top of the lists
         for some months.

(C): And what made you start composing?

(G): Well, technically it was FUTURE COMPOSER... The
ability to compose music which I didn't have
till then. It kind of opened a new world to me,
with lots of stuff I "kept in the stomach" all
the years before. I've always loved to listen
to music, and always "composed" musics in my
         head.

(C): And which music styles do you like?

(G): American rock, Brit-pop, and also Funk and
         Fusion.

(C): And who belongs to your favourite composers
         on the good old C64?

(G): I have to say I'm not so original in my list of
favourite composers. In first place, of
course, ROB HUBBARD and MARTIN GALWAY). Each
one has his own style and had reached places
where "no man has been before".
Next, JCH (very original style, and very good
player) and JEROEN TEL of MANIACS OF NOISE
(the first to really pass a "groovy" feeling
         to C64 music).

(C): Okay, now please say some words to the
         following music-labels...

(G): VIBRANTS.........: Great. Made a lot of
                            excellent tunes.
MOZICART...........: Heard some of their musics.
                              Nice.
MANIACS OF NOISE: Cool, groovy and funky!
         PROSONIX........: Errr... Don't remember those
                           guys.
         20CC.....................: Found their style somewhat
                                    annoying. Some tunes were
                                    good though.

(C): What, in your very own eyes, is/was the worst
         thing about the scene?

(G): Nothing really. It's a great thing.

(C): So why have you left it then?!? : )
Nowadays the C64 scene relates more and more
to the world of multimedia, the Internet. Do
         you approve this?

(G): Yes. Anything which helps the C64 stay alive is
         fine and should be used.

(C): And what has the CBM64 given to you in real
         life?

(G): A lot. My music knowledge and base, my coding
         experience, meeting great people, getting
great feedbacks. It gave me so much I can't
         describe everything in words.

(C): Oh nice... But now let's get over to some
brainstorming. Please answer as short as
         possible when I say...

(G): SEX.................: Pamela Anderson
SIDCHIP SCRATCHERS: The top of the tops. :)
         JCH...............: Talented dude.
         VOICETRACKER......: Fast Tracker
PARTIES...........: Drinks and good music. I
                             don't drink alcohol, by the
                             way.
BILL CLINTON: Better shut my mouth...
         266 MHZ.....: 320 Mhz. I won!
         SIDPLAY.....: Ahhh, what memories...
MICROSOFT...: I think I'm going to get sick...
         INTERNET....: YAHOO!

(C): Okey, dokey...
Since ages the CBM64 was declared dead... What
is your opinion about this?!? Is the C64 really
dead, or for how long will it stay alive?

(G): The C64 can't beat today's computer
technology and market. But the C64 scene, in
my opinion was something really special with a
group of unremarkable people leading it... If
the scene continues, and people keep on
writing stuff, then the C64 will leave and
prosper for a long time to go.

(C): And what are possible cures? Games, demos...?

(G): Everything. Are games still released for the
         C64? (I have no clue.)

(C): Yes, from time to time, but quality is mostly
         very low.
By the way, have you ever been in a serious
disagreement with any other scener or group?

(G): No. I've always been a peacefull kind of guy...

(C): In the past composers like JCH, LAXITY, TIM
FOLLIN and more revolutionized the composing
scene with great skills in composing and doing
their very own players... Most of today's
composers didn't invest their time in doing
new players or decent musics... What, in your
eyes, is the reason for that?

(G): I can't speak about the C64 scene, because I'm
not involved in it anymore. In the PC scene,
everything is samples so you don't need to
have your own player. But you can still put
your personal touch into the musics.

(C): And is doing techno-styled musics on the C64
the right way to become a famous musician?

(G): I don't like that style very much. Anyway, as
long as you do what you do the best way (and
better than others), you have the chance of
         becoming famous.

(C): And what do you think should a music contain
to make it appeal to the public?

(G): First, it should have a good basic melody and
groove that runs through as the song is
played. Too much rhythmic and melodic changes
in a song are not recommended. Good sounds
and an overall "stylish" feeling can ass a lot
too. A good opening can attract some
         attention.
In short, the basic idea/concept is the most
important thing, followed by the actual
         performance of the music.

(C): Okay, I see. Now please tell us your favourites
in the following C64 scene related categories:

(G): Demogroup........: Errr... Forgot everything
                            from that period... But I
                            liked many groups.
Cracking Groups: The classics: IKARI, DYNAMIC
                          DUO...
Coders...........: NIR P. My all time favourite

               WORLD OF ARTS 1

-- ----------------------------------- --

And here we go again with some reviews of
competition graphics. This time our way leads us to
the WIRED '98, RAGE-SCENEST '98, SCENERY '98 and
LITTLE COMPUTER PEOPLE '98 in this chapter.
Besides this you can find reviews of the competition
graphics from the ASSEMBLY '98 in the second part
of WORLD OF ARTS together with a review of the
graphic collection MISTEROUIJA featuring pictures
by SLIVER/F4CG.
So, enjoy this slide through the world of graphics!
COMPETITION PICTURES FROM THE WIRED '98
       -------------------------------------- --

This party took place in Wasmes/Belgium from the
17th to the 19th of July 1998.
The graphic competition results there looked like
this...

1. IMPRISONMENT by KATON/ARISE/LEPSI DE
2. DREAMHOUSE by EXILE
3. LATISCHA by SEBALOZ/LEPSI DE
4. COMPOPIC by AEG/SMASH DESIGNS
5. COMPOPIC by VIP/ROLE/W.O.W.
6. EIN PILZ by DIVER/VELVET
7. BUDGIE FOOD by THUNDERBOY/VELVET
YOU AM I AM THE CLOWN by SCORPE/VELVET
9. EXTACY 2 by BLEZE/VELVET/LAXITY

Okay, now let's see what I have to say about every
picture in particular...

IMPRISONMENT by KATON/ARISE/LEPSI DE
- ----------------------------------- -
LEPSI DE surely have proved in the past that they
have excellent pixel-maniacs in their rows...
This time KATON shows us again that he is one of the
BEST concerning graphics.
With his I-FLI competition graphic, that really
deserved the first place without any doubt, he
takes us into the world of "naked jail". The picture
shows us a naked woman that obviously gets
prevented by other creatures to leave a fableworld.
A colourful and technically good picture!

Mode Usage: 65% Conversion: 60% > 63%

EXTACY 2 by BLEZE/VELVET UNDERGROUND/LAXITY
- --------------------------------------- -
A to me yet unknown artist that competed with a
single-color hires picture. Displayed is "only" a
woman's face.
Technically seen no highlight at all...

Mode Usage: 20% Conversion: 25% > 23%

LATISCHA by SEBALOZ/LEPSI DE
- ------------------------ -
...And another graphic out of the house of LEPSI DE.
This time it is SEBALOZ who caries us off into the
crazy but soft world of the CBM64-VIC.
A very handsome picture which gives the word
TREMENDOUS a completely new meaning... 8)
The picture was painted in the MCI mode and
features a naked woman whose most important part
of the body surely isn't the face... Haha!
The colours and the technique are okay...

Mode Usage: 50% Conversion: 53% > 52%

COMPOPIC by AEG/SMASH DESIGNS
- ---------------------------- -
AEG is a well-known face from the coding-sector...
But graphically AEG is far away with this
competition contribution, even though sometimes he
proved that he can pixel quite well. But with this
picture he doesn't impress in no way!
Shown is a naked woman (but I'm not sure if it's
really a woman 8)) who was done in the Koala-mode.
Technically a quite poor picture because of bad
painted proportions...

Mode Usage: 15% Conversion: 18% > 17%

DREAMHOUSE by EXILE
- --------------- -
Another one from the category "unknown"... Also a
Koala-picture which mirrors us a small
wood-landscape with a house.
All in all this picture has to be rated in the
technique-subject like the AEG one...
With more feeling for pixel-setting this picture
could have been looking much better!

Mode Usage: 24% Conversion: 15% > 20%

BUDGIE FOOD by THUNDERBOY/VELVET UNDERGROUND
- ---------------------------------------- -
This picture is a FAKE one and obviously meant as
such one from the painter... So no rating here...

EIN PILZ by DIVER/VELVET UNDERGROUND
- ------------------------------------ -
Another one of the so-called FAKE ones... Also no
rating here... Although this one was all in all painted
better than the last one!

YOU AM I AM THE CLOWN by SCORPE/VELVET UNDERGR.
- ------------------------------------------- -
A picture that was painted in Koala...
It displays a clown or better a harlequin. Technically
a not so good picture though it features a quite
nice colour-palette. In my opinion the pixels got set
to fat and that's why I give the following rating...

Mode Usage: 37% Conversion: 35% > 36%

COMPOPIC by VIP/ROLE/W. O.W.
- ------------------------- -
An Interlace picture which shows two half-profiles.
A male and female face... Concerning the technique
the pic is quite okay, but considering the fact that
it is I-FLI it should have more colours!

Mode Usage: 39% Conversion: 42% > 41%

So, that were all competition pictures. My personal
ranking look this way then...

1. IMPRISONMENT by KATON/ARISE/LEPSI DE 63%
2. LATISCHA by SEBALOZ/LEPSI DE 52%
3. COMPOPIC by VIP/ROLE/W.O.W. 41%
4. YOU AM I AM THE CLOWN by SCORPE/VELVET 36%
5. EXTACY 2 by BLEZE/VELVET/LAXITY 23%
6. DREAMHOUSE by EXILE 20%
7. COMPOPIC by AEG/SMASH DESIGNS 17%
8. BUDGIE FOOD by THUNDERBOY/VELVET
   EIN PILZ by DIVER/VELVET

Except two ones the contributions were quite good.
So, that's all from me for the reviews this time...

                                             SHOK'RAY
COMPETITION GRAPHICS FROM THE RAGE-SCENEST '98
   -- -------------------------------------------- --

This party was held in Budapest/Hungary from 03. 07.
to 05. 07. 1998.
The results from the graphic competition were as
follows...

1. T-800 by AMN/ANARCHY
2. ROADRUNNER by POISON/SINGULAR
3. ROBOT by GERYNC/DIFFERENT
4. MANGA REWLZ by TGM/SINGULAR

Well, let's see what I think about these artworks...

T-800 by AMN/ANARCHY
- ---------------- -
As easily recognizable from the name this Interlace-
FLI piece gives you a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger
as Terminator. The background is plain black and the
whole picture is way too simple!
Also the flickering is going on your nerves a bit.

                                               > 56%

ROADRUNNER by POISON/SINGULAR
- -------------------------------------------- -
Another one in I-FLI but this time taking the whole
screen. It displays a biker woman on a street and a
biker on his motorbike watching her in the back. The
background is too simple, because it features only a
green meadow and a lightblue sky without any
colourfadings.
The bike and the two characters are well-painted,
but the rest is below average. The possibilities of
the graphic-mode were not used very well.

                                               > 63%

ROBOT by GERYNC/DIFFERENT
- --------------------- -
This fullscreener in Interlace-FLI features a
strange metallic robot I guess, because it is damn
hard to figure out what this colourclash should be.
The motif is simply ugly and the colourfadings are
also quite bad. Also the mode wasn't used well.

                                              > 17%

MANGA REWLZ by TGM/SINGULAR
- ----------------------- -
The last picture and also the worst. Again a
fullscreen one and again in I-FLI. It features a
"manga" styled girl's face. The background is
simply held in blue nearly without colourfadings.
I really wonder why TGM used I-FLI as gfx-mode
because he didn't use its possibilities in NO way!

                                               > 8%

After these reviews here is my list...

1. ROADRUNNER by POISON/SINGULAR 63%
2. T-800 by AMN/ANARCHY 56%
3. ROBOT by GERYNC/DIFFERENT 17%
4. MANGA REWLZ by TGM/SINGULAR 8%

So only my first two places differ from the
competition results. But there wouldn't be many
other possibilities anyway... ;)

                                HARDSEQUENCER
                                --------------

COMPETITION GRAPHICS FROM THE SCENERY '98
        -- ----------------------------------- --

This party took place in Podkowa Lesna Glowna/
Poland from the 3rd to the 5th of July.
Only three graphics took part in the competition, so
the results there looked that way:

1. KATON of LEPSI DE/ARISE
2. SEBALOZ of LEPSI DE
3. CHASH of FRACTION

And here is what I have to say to each of the
pieces...

KATON of LEPSI DE/ARISE
- --------------------- -
This Interlace-FLI fullscreen picture shows two
strange guys (maybe aliens?) who look quite strange,
somehow like mummies. The background is filled with
nice colourfadings.
Technically seen this picture is very good. The
flickering is okay and the mode's possibilities were
used very well, but the motif is a bit too boring!
Besides this the picture somehow misses a special
touch that would make it a highlight.
                                             > 72%

SEBALOZ of LEPSI DE
- -------------------------- -
That Koala-picture represents again SEBALOZ typical
style with that lightred background. It features a
girl's face in horror. You might call this piece a
fullscreener, but the right side is simply filled with
some colourfadings that obviously are meant to be
the girl's curly hair.
The shapes are great as well as the colourfadings.
The eyes are a bit too big, but it's probably meant to
underline the horror. Also the mouth could have been
painted a bit better.
                                               > 79%

CHASH of FRACTION
- ------------- -
This is a very small hires-piece which displays the
half-profile of a young man.
It is well painted but it's just too simple and small.
Maybe it's even too small to be called a picture at
all. So that explains to low rating...
                                                > 17%

My personal ranking of the graphics would be...

1. SEBALOZ of LEPSI DE 79%
2. KATON of LEPSI DE/ARISE 72%
3. CHASH of FRACTION 17%

Well, only a few graphics, but the quality of them
was really good. SEBALOZ and KATON again proved
their high quality in connection with high quantity
as well.

                                    HARDSEQUENCER
                                    -------------------

GRAPHICS FROM THE LITTLE COMPUTER PEOPLE'98
     -- ------------------------------------- --
This party was held in Vdxjv/Sweden from the 31st
of July to the 2nd of August 1998.
There only two graphics got to see the daylight.

DC GFX COMPO by ???
- ---------------- -
This lores picture shows the three swedish crowns
at the top and a huge SWE logo at the bottom. The
whole thing also covers the borders! The whole
background is held in plain yellow of course.
This one surely isn't meant serious... More a fake
one. Maybe that's why it doesn't look good... :)
                                                 > 8%

AXA by PINGO
- -------- -
This Koala piece displays a giant warrior standing
right in a city and holding a sword up into the air.
The sun and the horizon built the background but
are all just white.
This picture is very simple and the shapes were
done badly! Besides this there are nearly no
colourfadings, what makes this picture look quite
ugly.
                                               > 20%

Yeah, sad but true... Only two pictures, but maybe it
was better that way... ; )

1. AXA by PINGO 20%
2. DC GFX COMPO by ??? 8%

And that's all...

               WORLD OF ARTS 2

-- ----------------------------------- --

In the second part of WORLD OF ARTS we bring you a
review of the new graphic collection from the
FANTASTIC FOUR CRACKING GROUP. It is entitled MYSTIC
ORACLE - MISTEROUIJA and features graphics by
SLIVER/F4CG.
Then we also take here a closer look at the compo-
graphics from the ASSEMBLY '98.

So, have fun with our this time damn massive slide
through the world of graphics!
MISTEROUIJA - MYSTIC ORACLE by F4CG
        -- ----------------------------- --
This collection was exclusively coded by one else
but the mighty CROSSBOW/CREST. The main music was
done by GLENN RUNE GALLEFOSS and KRISTIAN ROSTOEN
of SHAPE.
The show features only graphics by SLIVER/F4CG.
It starts off with a simple intro that features no
graphics. After pressing space the collection starts
for real. All pictures were painted in the popular
Interlace-FLI mode and between the pictures is
shown some mysterious and phylosophizing text.
But now let's start with a look at each picture for it
self...

The first one looks really mysterious because you
aren't able to figure out what this should be! At
least I wasn't able to... But I guess it should be a
certain symbol or so... Really don't know!
It flicker quite a lot, but the colourfadings are well-
done.
Technically seen this picture is okay, but as I really
can't figure anything out, I don't like this one!
                                                 > 31%

Then next one shows a rider on a horse riding
towards you. The blackground is nearly plain
lightgrey and features only some (bad) colourfades.
The flickering is really strong and goes on your
nerves. The man's and the horse's shapes weren't
done very well.
All in all I must also admit that I find this piece
really boring.
By the way, for me it looks like converted. Some
parts of the picture hint to this, but I'm not 100%
sure, so I judge it as self-painted.
                                                 > 33%

The third picture is this collection's best one... You
can see a dragon.
It is excellently painted, at least the head and the
wing. The body maybe shouldn't have been done in
darkgrey but also in a brown-tone like for example
the head.
The background is plain black. If it were filled with
some nice stuff (maybe even only some fadings) this
piece might have been a real smasher! So I give only...
                                                > 78%

The next piece of art is well-known. If my memory
serves me right it was SLIVER's contribution to the
ASSEMBLY '97 graphic competition, wasn't it?!?
Anyway, it shows a warrior with a sword and a shield
fighting.
Everything is held in brown/orange, what looks nice
here. The background is again empty... A pity!
The proportions are very good as well as the shapes.
The only strange looking thing on the man is the part
of his head where an eye should be... Seems SLIVER
forgot to paint that eye.
                                                > 75%

Then we get to see another warrior. It shows a shaky
viking with an axe in one hand and his helmet falling
off his head.
This picture took part in the competition at THE
PARTY 6, I think.
The colours were well-chosen and so the piccy does
not flicker much. The shapes are very good again.
Technically seen the man was done perfect!
But again it's the background that annoys me,
because it is only filled with the mixcolour of
lightblue and purple.
                                               > 71%

The sixth one in this collection displays a magician
(or ghost?) coming out of the ground in front of a
ruin. The figure stands in the yellow light. The sky
is purple and filled with flashes and stuff.
The flickering is damn nerving because of too many
bright colours like yellow and white, which also
aren't faded very well.
Also this one looks converted for me. But again I'm
not 100% sure, so again I judge it as handpainted.
                                                > 60%

The next one is also a bit known. At least I knew it
from somewhere, but I can't remember where from.
It shows an exes sitting on a skull, while the
background is nothing but black.
The skull looks great and features wonderful
colourfadings. But the exes' back looks a bit
strange, just like it was converted!
                                              > 63%

The very last picture in this show displays a female
angel (?) sitting on a stone. Maybe it isn't an angel,
maybe I should call it a creature with wings and
claws. The creature is naked and looks very cold,
what is mainly caused by the use of much grey for
her body.
The background is again empty. Sad!
The wings are painted great! Really awesome! The
creature's body looks ugly because her belly was
done too fat... Also the start of her hair isn't that
good.
                                                  > 66%

After this picture the show restarts.
So after calculating everything together I can give
this collection a rating of... 60%
                               ---
Overall I can say that SLIVER showed the beginning
of what he is really able to do... I mean: It seems
motivation and inspiration leave him when it comes
to completing a picture. With more interesting
backgrounds his pictures would be real hammers, no
doubt. So hopefully we will see more artwork from
him in the future, but then hopefully more
"complete" than these ones...

       COMPETITION GRAPHICS FROM THE ASSEMBLY'98
       -- ----------------------------------- --
From the 14th to the 16th of August there took place
the yearly ASSEMBLY in Finland.
This time there got released only three graphics and
the results from the graphic competition were as
follows...

1. "ALLEY" by MIKE/BYTERAPERS INC.
2. "KAHVIUN" by ELECTRIC/EXTEND
3. "DAYDREAM BELIEVER" by DEBRIS/PANIC

Let's see what I (HARDSEQUENCER) have to say about
these graphics...

"ALLEY" by MIKE/BYTERAPERS INC.
- --------------------------- -
This Interlace-FLI piece covers the whole screen and
somehow shows two pictures! On the left side you
can see the face of a girl (she obviously is called
Alley?!?) and on the right side you can see here
topless from above the belly botton.
The face on the left side is well-painted and
featured very good proportions and colourfadings.
Especially the hair looks extremely good! The only
bad thing about this face is the throat, it is
probably a bit too dark.
The right picture is also very good. The fadings are
great again but some proportions aren't this good
here, for example here breasts and her face look a
bit strange.
All in all this picture is really nice. Especially the
choice of colours and the fadings are brilliant. Also
the flickering is okay.
                                                > 89%

"KAHVIUN" by ELECTRIC/EXTEND
- ------------------------------------------ -
Finally again a picture by the maestro, ELECTRIC. Of
course this is again an I-FLI fullscreener.
It displays two faces, one of a man and one of a
woman, which somehow fade into one another with
very waved lines. It's hard to describe.
This picture looks a bit unfinished to me, because
about one quarter of the screen is empty and as far
as I know ELECTRIC this isn't usual for him.
Technically seen this picture is very good again
concerning the colours, fadings and proportions,
we know this from ELECTRIC.
But there are some things about this piece that are
biting me... First of all I don't like the motif very
much and also the flickering is a bit too strong.
And then there is also this empty part...
                                                > 73%

"DAYDREAM BELIEVER" by DEBRIS/PANIC
- ------------------------------- -
This one was done in Koala. The whole screen is
filled by a woman that lies on the ground or so. Her
head takes the biggest part of the screen.
It looks quite okay. The colourfadings are good, but
could have been done better.
The woman's hair is the worst part of the picture.
DEBRIS also made some mistakes with some
proportions, for example the hand with the glover
and the butt. Also the background could have been
painted a bit better and more colourful.
But all in all this piece is okay considering the
possibilites the Koala-mode gives.
                                                 > 64%

After these reviews my personal ranking is this...

1. "ALLEY" by MIKE/BYTERAPERS INC. 89%
2. "KAHVIUN" by ELECTRIC/EXTEND 73%
3. "DAYDREAM BELIEVER" by DEBRIS/PANIC 64%

So this time my rating is exactly the same as the
result on the party... :) But the rankings were quite
obvious this time.
Summarizing I must say that I was disappointed by
the low number of released graphics, but on the
other hand I'm really satisfied with the high quality
of pictures that got released.

               WORLD OF MUSIC

-- ----------------------------------- --

Welcome to the music-reviews once again.
This time we can give you a closer look at the
competition-musics from the ASSEMBLY '98, which
took place from the 7th to the 9th of August in
Helsinki/Finland!
A huge thanx for this review must go to THE ALIEN/
W. O.W., our newest staff-member, who reviewed
these musics in such a hurry! Thank you Stefan!

Okay, now let's start the show...
COMPETITION MUSICS FROM THE ASSEMBLY '98
    ---------------------------------------- --
The original party results were as follows...

1. TRIBUTE TO SINATRA by TBB/EXTEND
2. JAMAICAN SIXTYFOUR by VENTURUS +ABADDON
3. NEEDLEDROP by AMJ/BYTERAPERS INC.
4. CAPPUCINO by DEETSAY/PANIC
5. SAROVIISU by JAZOO +TEMPEST
6. DEXTER by JER/PANIC
7. 4GIVE by BARRACUDA/EXTEND
8. JAZZ CRACKERS by ALIH/W.O.W.
9. JOKELA by CODEHEAD/SUOLAHAPPO

Well, let's now see what I (ALIEN) have to say about
each of the musics...

TRIBUTE TO SINATRA by TBB/EXTEND
- --------------------------------- -
TBB competed with a conversion of the song "LOVE
AND MARRIEDS". It's also the title song of a very
famous tv-series (Hi Al Bundy!). The cover sounds
okay to me, but on the other hand it is nothing
special and it's a bit too short. There is really
nothing more to say about this tune!
                                                 > 50%

JAMAICAN SIXTYFOUR by VENTURUS +ABADDON
- ----------------------------------------------------- -
When reading the title of this music I was prepared
for a kewl Reagee music (Bob Marley...). But it was
not what I expected after reading the title name. Not
to say that the music is shit or something like this.
I like the music. A really nice melody and just a
touch of reagee... In my opinion a really nice piece of
music that would fit to a magazine! Really good work.
                                                > 73%

NEEDLEDROP by AMJ/BYTERAPERS INC./SIDE B
- ------------------------------------ -
At the beginning of this music I thought that my SID
fucked up... But after some talking on IRC I found
out that I have to wait a little bit until that music
really starts. :) This time we have a double speed
music. And what can I say about it!? I just like it!
Again AMJ made something very different. Something
I really can't describe, you have to listen on your
own! It has something special, something I never
heard before. Too bad that this music is so short. I
wish it would be longer. Only critic I have is for the
beginning of the music, I really don't know what it
shall be, you hear nearly nothing... But all in all a
good music.
                                                   > 74%

CAPPUCINO by DEETSAY/PANIC
- -------------------------------------- -
DEETSAY competed with a techno track. Something
you hear in nearly every demo nowadays. People still
don't understand that good techno music can't be
done on a C64 (except some of the works by JEFF/
CAMELOT). I don't like this music! There is no
variation and so on...
                                              > 23%

SAROVIISU by JAZOO + TEMPEST
- ---------------------------------- -
Another coop music between two musicians! The bass
is made in a very simple way, but the melody of this
track is quite good! Also there is some variation in
this music... Yeah, a track I really can say it is a
good one. Only critic I can give is that the ending of
this music wasn't done very good. It just stops on a
time you never expect an end!
                                               > 69%

DEXTER by JER/PANIC
- --------------- -
Here we have a sampled music. Or better lotsa drums..
No melody, just different drumloops mixed together.
I really can't call this a music!?! I don't understand
why he competed with such a bad thingy... Maybe PC
sceners like such kind of "drumloop-put-together"
musics, but it is definitely nothing for a C64! The
sample quality is okay for me.
                                                  > 10%

4GIVE by BARRACUDA/EXTEND
- --------------------- -
Mhhh, this music sounds unfinished to me. Some
pieces of the track really sound nice, but it seems
BARRACUDA had no real ideas for it. After a while
the music gets into a techno track. Again nothing
special. I really was disappointed about this music
because there are so many things I would improve or
change on it! I miss a better melody. The music could
be so good, but it is not...
                                                 > 34%

JAZZ CRACKERS by A LIFE IN HELL/W. O.W.
- ------------------------------------------------- -
Mhh, amusic by a WOW member! I try to be objective.
Here we have another double speed music. The title
promised a jazz music, but for me it doesn't sound
like a jazz music. The melody sometimes sounds a bit
strange, and isn't very original at all. I myself don't
like the music that much (Sorry ALIH!).
                                                  > 36%

JOKELA by CODEHEAD/SUOLAHAPPO
- ------------------------- -
The beginning of the music sounds really not bad,
but after a while it just turns into chaos. Something
to rape your ears with. Something to damage your
hifi equipment with... Bahm, I can't listen to this one
any more. It really had a promising start, but then it
is everything but not a music.
                                                  > 5%

So my personal results look this way...

1. NEEDLEDROP by AMJ 74%
2. JAMAICAN SIXTYFOUR by VENTURUS + ABADDON 73%
3. SAROVIISU by JAZOO +TEMPEST 69%
4. TRIBUTE TO SINATRA by TBB 50%
5. JAZZ CRACKERS by A LIFE IN HELL 36%
6. 4GIVE by BARRACUDA 34%
7. CAPPUCINO by DEETSAY/PANIC 23%
8. DEXTER by JER/PANIC 10%
9. JOKELA by CODEHEAD 5%

                                     THE ALIEN/W.O.W.

               WORLD OF BYTES

-- ----------------------------------- --

Welcome to the demo chapter once again.
This time we bring you again some infos on the
latest released demos, a look out on some soon to be
released ones and also again a demo-review.
This time we reviewed FLEXIBLE 2 by OFFENCE for you.
We know that this one is by now about one year old
again, but we thought that this demo didn't get the
attention it deserved, so we decided to take a
closer look at it.
But now let's start with some demo news...

The demo scene got a huge push within the last one
and a half months, which was of course caused by
the great number of parties that took place in the
months July and August.

It all started with ONSLAUGHT releasing their dentro
VELOCITY at the SCENERY '98. This one was coded by
NAPHALM, but the long-promised megademo by JOLZ
should finally be out quite soon.
Also SATAKI released their demo PIGSTY II at this
party and got the first place.
On the same weekend the RAGE +SCENEST '98 party
took place, where the new REPLAY demo entitled
PC-FUN got the top spot while SHUDDER by SINGULAR
got the second place.
Then the WIRED'98 was held in Belgium and SMASH
DESIGNS surprised everyone with the release of the
new AEG-demo named OUTBREAK, although AEG said
that he would stop coding on the CBM64. They won of
course the competition and the new W.O. W. demo
called HOME INVASION got the second position.

The NORTH PARTY 2 brought out the biggest amount
of demos lately. There FRACTION got the top
position with their nice trackmo entitled
DEFLORATION, while ARISE gained the second place
with the second part of PRO MEMORIA.
EXON released a promising dentro named EUFROSYNE
DREAM and landed on the 4th place with it. Also
LEPSI DE showed again some activity and threw out
their 8X8 POWER.

On the same weekend there also took place the
LITTLE COMPUTER PEOPLE in Sweden. A pity that the
number of released demos wasn't that high. The only
worth to be mentioned demo there was SPICE UP YOUR
LIFE by some pals of TRIAD. Besides this only some
fake demos got to see the daylight.

On the second weekend in August there once again
took place the famous yearly ASSEMBLY. But the
amount of released demos there was more than
disappointing. PANIC put out SPEEDWAY II and got the
first place with this, which wasn't a surprise at all
as the two other demos that got released were only
fake ones.

Now let's see what will be released in the near
future. ARISE are planning to release BIBA 2 while
also LEPSI DE are also already working on another
trackmo.
Then there is also said that there is already
finished the new SAMAR two-sided SAMAR demo
entitled DIGITAL WORLD coded by STINGER.
These demos were originally ment to be released at
QUAST '98, but for which reason ever the coders
decided to keep the demos for a soon-upcomming
party in Poland... Well, we'll see!

And now turn over to the next page to read a
review of the demo FLEXIBLE II by OFFENCE!

                 A demo by OFFENCE.

-- ----------------------------------- --
Coding review by..: SCROLL/MEGASTYLE PRODUCTIONS
Graphic review by: SHOK'RAY/MEGASTYLE PRODUCTIONS
Music review by..: THE ALIEN/WARRIORS OF WASTELAND
-- --------------------------------------------- --
About one year ago OFFENCE brought us the really
surprising and unawaited sequel to their
comeback demo FEXIBLE. Both demos were released in
1997 and C128-bugfixed by CROSSBOW/CREST.
Produced and released was this demo by their most
active member at the moment: PREBEN... Alias TRASHER
und PAL better known as ROOSTER from the norwegian
OFFENCE front are responsible for this demo.
OFFENCE are well-known for excellent coding and
most of all for extremely pervers styling! They
prove this again with FLEXIBLE 2 at least as far as
the graphical style is concerned. The final touch of
the demo are samples, which are quite rare these
days.
And now let's start with the special reviews of the
coding, graphics and musics in detail...

INTRO:
- -- -
Coding...: This demo opens with a blue screen
containing 3 moving logos saying OFFENCE
SOFTWARE FLEXIBLE II and a scroller
underneath, all are built up of a 5X5
charset drawn in the good old style of
the 80's. The edges are rounded with
           sprites.
Very simple coding, but it's a functionable
           and good-looking intro.

Graphics: BACK TO THE ROOTS was the slogan on the
demo group CREST last year... And it looks
          as OFFENCE followed it.
With a quite simple but excellently painted
3 colour charset shows PAL that he knows
the "art" how to make a piece of art with
only 3 colours... The shapes are extremely
good. It's another evidence that PAL is
probably one of the best. Everyone who
ever painted something with only 3 colours
knows that it isn't that easy to produce
nice fillins with that limited possibilities.

Music.....: The Intro music of FLEXIBLE II by OFFENCE
            was done by KRISTIAN ROSTOEN/HIT/SHAPE.
All in all I really can't say that much about
this tune. It's a simple and short music. I
miss some more variation. The melody of
this song is quite nice but it seems to me
that Kristian hasn't had very much fun/
            inspiration doing this music.
I really know a lot better musics from him
and because of this I can't understand why
OFFENCE chose this one. But well, it's just
            and intro...

FIRST PART:
- ------- -
Coding..: After pressing space, this part is loaded.
It consists of a gray screen with a
          sideways moving picture, black sprites
over the screen showing the credits and a
normal 5X5 scroller at the bottom. Two
different pictures are shown at the top of
the screen, namely Lene Nystrom from the
pop group AQUA better known as the
Barbie Girl (oh no!) and an unknown male.
The pictures keep morphing between each
other in a very short animation. It seems
like the aspect ratio of the pictures is
completely wrong, I'd suppose the pictures
          should be twice as high.
Not any advanced code in this part, except
the morphing pictures which has undergone
a precalculation. If they coded the
          precalculator, I'm impressed.

Graphics: And again an excellent 3 colour font. A pity
that this one was already used before in
the form of a logo. Anyway, it's a really
good font with well-painted shapes and the
colour-choice gives this gray part a
          special styling!
Visible is also a normal hires 2X2 font and
          two converted 3 colour pictures...

Music.....: Here you find a digi of a very famous
music named SEVEN DAYS AND ONE WEEK
sampled by PREBEN. The sample quality isn't
that good. Maybe on an old SID it sounds
classes better, but I already heard better
digis on my new SID chip!

SECOND PART:
- -------- -
Coding..: Another press space leads me to this part.
An OFFENCE logo with a planet in the
background at the bottom of the screen,
and a large twisting scroller consisting of
a one-char small orb character, rotating
around its x-axis, everything on a black
          background.
A very good scroller which definitely
requires some thinking before coding. A
nice contrast against all these jerky
          moving 4X4 gouraud vectors etc.

Graphics: This time here is not(!) a charset but a
quite nice logo, which isn't one of PAL's
best ones. A pity that it got already used
back in the year of 1992 in the EMOTIONAL
          BREAKDOWN/OFFENCE... Other graphics are
          only 3 colour dot-sprites.
Overall this part's graphics are cool but
uncomparable with the pervious ones. A
reason for this might be that the logo is
          already known... Who knows...

Music.....: Here is a music done by GEIR TJELTA. All in
all I like this music. It's nothing special at
all, but it's a music done in a happy way. I
mean you are just happy when you listen
to this music. The melody is quite okay, but
again I miss some more variation.
And again I can say that I heard some
better musics from GEIR TJELTA, but hell,
it's the best music in this demo so far...

THIRD PART:
- ------- -
Coding..: After another press on the space bar I sit
before the end part. A black screen, with
an OFFENCE logo in Koala format at the
bottom of the screen, some credits in the
middle and a stretching DYCP at the top, all
          with green chars.
The scroller is looking exactly like the
scroller in the end part of the demo HYBRIS
by TRONIX released in 1989 (Ha, that was a
          hard one for you!).
The scroller isn't too hard to code, but it
requires much raster time, which is
obvious because nothing else happens on
          this part.

Graphics: Again an already known logo from the
          EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN demo, but better
than the one from the part before. PAL's
style somehow comes very close to RED-
          WIZ, doesn't it?!?
All in all this logo is well painted and
          styled!

Music.....: Here I found a music by a not credited
artist. At least I didn't find anything in
the scrolltext and also not in the memory.
Too bad, as I know the music from
somewhere else. (Maybe it's the title music
            from the game HAWKEYE?!?)
And what I can say about this music... It's
really nice. A good melody, more variation
than in the other musics before and well, I
just like it. It's a music you can listen a
long time to. And the melody is something
you can't get out of your mind, at least I
            can't.

Final conclusion:
- ------------- -
Coding..: All parts were coded by the Norwegian
          coder PREBEN VINDHOLMEN (ex-TRASHER).
This demo would be a little below average
codewise even in 1989, so I guess I would
give the demo 40% for the coding. But it
has the good old spirit, so I give a totally
          biased sypathy rating of...
                                                  > 77%

Graphics: All in all the graphics by PAL are okay. But
          compared with the graphics from
EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN or the OFFENCE mag
SLOWPOKE these are only standart! PAL can
do much better graphics, and I'm sure that
he'll show us this in the near future.
Anyway, I really think that it's quite an art
to paint 3 colour charsets in such a good
          quality.
                                                > 54%

Musics....... : The last music was the best one and the
others were a bit disappointing, in my
opinion. So I give this soundtrack...
                                                      > 50%

              PARTY REPORT FROM THE SCENERY'98
              -- -------------------------- --
Okay, here's FANGORN with an exclusive report from
SCENERY aka TWITTER held in Podkowa Lesna near
Warzawa on 3-5 of July. Let's start this...

I've been getting infos about this party all the June,
so there was no doubt many people knew about the
event. So I was hoping many of them would come. I
packed my my knapsack, bought a ticket to Warzawa
and went away.
After a couple of hours I was in the capital, and
there I had to find WKD station (local passenger
train). And first surprise - KLAX was on this train!
Yeah, cool! We were talking all the way and after a
long time (compared to the distance) got to Podkowa
Lesna Glowna stop. We got out, and asked someone
where is MOK - the party place. It appeared it is not
so far from the stop. So we went in the shown
direction and saw some graffiti stuff by CORWIN,
ELBAN and some of ARISE crew... And yes, soon we
found the place - a couple of guys were sitting and
seemed very happy. Guess the bottles laying around
(empty :]]]) had something to do with that. They were
widely known as EL BANDITOS, CORWIN, DEINONYCHOS,
KATON, KILLER, PASTHOR, BIMBER, SAPPER, KORDIAUKIS,
PROVOCATOR and some more maybe... We greeted
everyone and went into the building to look around.
The hall was quite small, but everyone managed to
find some place for himself.
I had to pay the entrance fee (25 Polish Zloties :( )
and got the ID. After checking all the things out
(WC :) ) I went out to the guys. ELBAN was just
organizing a trip to Warzawa and KILLER, PASTHOR
and PROVOCATOR went with him. He took the last
vodka bottle with him. :( As you may have probably
noticed every party in Poland is just a big vodka
meeting - this was not different this time. Just to
mention that ELBAN went to Warzawa to catch some
cash from his grandma. ;) And that's why me, CORWIN
and KORDIAUKIS got another bottle of Ludowa Vodka
and started drinking. We were doing our best to hide
in the corner, but our actions have been discovered
and BIMBER, DEINO and YARO joined us. We were
sitting like that, drinking and talking about
different things. Yeah, this was a cool feeling -
some C64 freaks sitting in a town somewhere in the
centre of Poland, boozing heavily.
I found out that there was a Belgian girl at the
party place (no, not as a party attendant). While
PROVOCATOR was trying to talk to her in english, the
rest of the people started throwing texts like "Suck
my dick babe!" and so on. Guess that grass brought
by BIMBER did the job. ;) SAPPER was the leader of
all this, but later on he didn't want to plead guilty.;)
Then something went wrong with stomach and two
pukes were generated on the grass outside. Guess it
was already enough vodka for me. :)
I went out to catch some air. There was CORWIN and
KORDEE and we were talking about Astovel and
KORDEE showed us his documents (different data in
every of it). And then we saw it - KATON walking
shaky. He tried to sit on the bench, but it had fallen
down together with poor Lukasz. It looked totally
funny. Some guys helped KATON to get up and he had
to sit a bit to come round. ;)
The C64 organizers were EL BANDITOS, CORWIN,
KORDIAUKIS and COBRA. Unfortunately COBRA wasn't
able to come because of her work.
Huh, it's actually hard to say what was going on all
this day, because many things happened. There was a
fire (like a camp fire or so) and some Atari guys
were roasting sausages, while we C64 guys were
trying to find some more cash for vodka.
We also had a parody contest - PASTHOR and ELBAN
were imitating SEBALOZ. (The SEBALOZ smile by EL
BANDITOS was a killer!)
We were all sitting on the bench, only BIMBER was
sleeping under it. He had to go to take an exam next
day! Yes, yes!!! But some other guys thought he likes
to be woken up every 5 minutes. : )
After all that I decided to get some sleep. Me,
PASTHOR and EXACT went to a sleeping room (in a
seperate building). Unfortunately DEINONYCHOS came
with us and we weren't given the sleep. :) DEINO
found an axe and... chopped the armchair. : / He's a
butcher, you know. This was not over! He also
destroyed an old typewriter and then he brought all
the furniture from the opposite room. Then he
started throwing nails on us and this was too much!
We took our butts out of there, but came back right
after DEINO left. Tricked him, didn't we? ;)) Finally
after some talking we fell asleep.
I woke up at 5 am and saw EXACT going out. He froze,
because he had forgotten to take his sleeping bag
with him to cover himself. Me and PASTHOR also got
up and went out to avoid possible accusations
because of DEINO's damages.
Another day started. First of all everyone wanted to
eat a kind of breakfast. Cool that the bar was open,
however they were only serving pizzas and french
fries. When I asked the ladywhy they ain't got no
hamburgers or hot dogs, she answered that they are
against big corporations. ??? I asked how do big
corporations relate to hot dogs (well, I can
understand hamburgers) but got no explanations. I
ate some fries and went searching for bread or so. : )
BIMBER left in the morning, but he was going to come
back in the evening, together with BROWAR, who also
had some exams. EL BANDITOS was already out of
vodka, even though he brought 5 litres ot it on
Thursday evening. So he decided to call SZTZYGIEL/
NSO and tell him to bring some from Warzawa. He was
going to tell him this vodka is to be sold, cause he
wouldn't come in other case. : )
I also heard that PROVOCATOR, who was drinking hard
in the evening woke up at 4 am or so and... pissed on
the table in the hall. :P And then he went to sleep
again. Luckily for him, no one wanted to beat him or
throw him out, he only had to clean all the mess he
did. It must have looked really cool. ;)
The organizers started doing something with the
equipment. They were trying to connect ELBAN's C64
to the amplifier. They only managed to burn the SID
in the C64. :(
Some guys were drinking beer to fill up the promiles
rate needed by their bodies. Some of the C64 guys
still didn't understand what the party is for - they
were sitting in front of their comy playing
BOMBMANIA or stuff like that. Some were also
occupying organizers' PC playing BLOOD. :( Not to
mention that most of the Atari guys spent the whole
party in front of the monitor. :((
LUKE came and wanted to pay the fee, but he was not
allowed. :) CORWIN and ELBAN told him not to pay, but
to buy vodka for that cash. It was already clear that
there won't be any prizes, because not enough
people had come.
Someone was coding an I-FLI displayer for KATON (he
brought his piccy in pure editor format).
Me, SPLATTERPUNK, THORGAL and YARO were talking
about joining our our groups. Nothing's sure yet...
KATON said that SEBALOZ will come and so everyone
was waiting impatiently. :)
Drinking started soon as SZCZYGIEL brought vodka.
The sea of it have been drunk this day too. Some C64
stuff was shown on the (not so :) ) big screen.
Demos, musics.
Some of the Atari freaks were techno maniacs, so
they were mad about zaks by PVCF, WACEK and similar.
We were laughing of 'em, because their "dance"
looked more like spasms. :)) They were not able to
understand what is so special about DRAX, JEROEN
TEL and MITCH+DANE style... Me and PROVEE even
tried to fool them about something, but nothing was
getting to them during these convulsions. ;))
PROVOCATOR and I wanted to buy some vodka. PROVEE
paid for the bottle, but I forgot to pay for the
juice. ;)) We went to drink it in the park, but were
spotted by CHASH, YARO, PASTHOR, SHELL, KILLER and
chased until we gave up and shore our drink with
them. :)
Then PROVEE joined FRACTION and couldn't believe his
luck. He promised to return to activity and so on.
And then ELBAN went out of the bushes (behind WKD
stop) and invited us to come and drink with local
drunkards. :) They were Wojtek and Andrzej, about
40 years old guys. And they brought two wines. :) We
did go there, but soon everyone (except EL
BANDITOS) resigned. CHASH wanted to talk about the
group and the drunkards were annoying us. Wojtek
asked us: "Shall I assault you?" - yes, this were his
words (only in polish). And then he said "Let's go and
kill someone! I'm not afraid". He was of course
totally drunk.
We soon left them and came back to a proper party
place. SEBALOZ came and of course everyone wanted
to talk with him (he also got some applause :) ).
COBRA appeared too, and we had a talk. PROVEE even
asked her to dance as the music was still playing.
SEBALOZ, after greeting everyone, went somewhere
with KATON and when he came back he started
painting a piccy for DEINO's request. I saw him
drawing some eyes, and I got bored.
Meanwhile the vodka drinking was performed again
on something porch-like and I joined the club. :))
Later on there was a surprising event - an Atari
guy started singing to a music played there. He was
improvising (in english!) and it looked (and sounded)
awesome! Many people came to see it. This was cool
and funny of course. Ten of fifteen drunken C64
guys waving their hands together at the scene. :)
Later on some crazy compos started. I took part in
the tooth paste compo, but then me, SPLATEE and
THORGAL went to find some food. So I don't know
much about these compos, but as I heard they
weren't too funny, only the prizes were nice (beer,
vodka :]]). We found a nice pizzeria and ate
something hot.
This day there was also a fire, and this time I also
bought a sausage - because of hunger. While some of
us were preparing the fire I asked LUKE what's up
with NIPSON and he said that he decided to dissolve
it with Rico's permission. Quite surprising - NIPSON is
no more.
After this me and YARO went to the bar and ate most
of SEBALOZ' pizza. Poor Seba. ;) And yet again we met
another local drunkard, who asked us: "Does anyone
want to get punched? Cause I am looking for
trouble." or something like that. We told him to go
and beat CHASH who came by, but he said that he's
looking for small men. So we all stood up and the guy
said: "I forgive you in advance!" and went away
looking a bit frightened. :)
There were actually more "natives", because they
were coming to this bar to drink a beer. But most of
them were young ones, some even drank vodka with
us. there were also some Atari duded (like LIZARD)
who drank with us. Coolie!
And in the evening BROWAR and BIMBER came round.
BROWAR cut his hair and everyone was taken aback
with his new "image". :) This is not the same BROWAR
anymore. ; P Of course this was another occasion to
drink some vodka.
CHASH was demanding compos and even wanted to
host them himself if ELBAN doesn't move his ass. But
it wasn't necessary. Soon EL BANDITOS plugged
BIGOS' comy (the only one with a working SID of 4 or 5
C64s). Everyone who was registered (I was) got the
vote, and first some shitty Atari music compos
started. Someone turned up the bass and my poor
ears hardly stood this. Soon I followed LUKE who was
sleeping on the chair and I even managed to sleep
over gfx compo. ; )
And then - C64 MUSIC COMPO!!! Yeah, about fifteen
guys started jumping around and shouting. KORDEE's
and WACEK's zax were cool. But there were also some
calm musics, and still we were dancing. Yeah! However
soon most of the people broke away and to RANDY's
BREATHE cover (more like a parody :) ) only me, DEINO
and someone else were still jumping. There was also
stage-diving performed by EL BANDITOS. Only there
were not enough people to make it look cool.
After music compo the graphics (only 3) followed.
The results were clear: KATON, SEBALOZ, CHASH.
Together with KILLER, CORWIN and DEINO we ate some
of my votesheet (yummy). ;))
And then the demos! PROGRESS by ARISE - a small fake
with nice dir stamp (that wasn't spread :'( ).
VELOCITY by NAPHALM/[O] (definitively the best).
PIGSTY II by SATAKI (nice one), SOMETHING PREVIEW
(from my second group VAUDEVILLE), basic fake by
KLAX (under MLECZE DES. label), and APPLAUSE 2. :)
This was awesome! After first fake demo we
expected something real now. And yup, there was
this nice, typical intro, and it was all about to start,
when suddenly the music faded away and the writing
said: "But after a consideration we went to have a
drink...". They fooled us all. ;)) Even some Atarians
(?!?) were laughing - greets to them. You gotta be
talented to do such fakes. : )
Then there was Atari intro compo and we (me, ELBAN
and BIMBER) were trying to explain to an Atari guy
(the techno maniac) that PC converted animation is
pure shit. We were trying to convince him about more
things, but when he said he's coding bumps with his
finger in his ass (an idiom, I don't know how to
translate it) we started laughing and he went away.
Later on CHASH started counting votes. DEINO helped
him, that's why SATAKI won the demo compo. :)
No, for real NAPHALM was asleep while the compo, and
DEINO was walking around saying "Vote for no. 5!" or
so. :/ All in all this was not so important as there
were no prizes. : ( But hey, no one cared about this!
ELBAN and CHASH typed the results and visitors' list
and soon I went to get some sleep. I heard that
someone broke all the windows (98? ; ) ) in the
sleeping room, so I just throw my body on some
chairs in the hall.
I woke up at six, and moved to a smaller room. There I
sat on an armchair, put my legs on the table. I slept
a couple more hours.
When I woke up I just said good-bye to everyone who
was not asleep, gave (lent?) some cash to YARO, who
had no money for a come back ticket, and went away.

Okay, this was all. To end this report I must admit
that i was one of my best parties ever! Well, it was
kinda small, and the other disadvantage was that
there were no sponsors at all, but who cares. If it
wasn't for all this might be even better, but still
there is no need to complain.
Too bad there won't be another party in Podkowa
Lesna, because of too many damages and too few
people that appeared. Regret you weren't there! Ok,
thanx for the cool fun and greets to all party
people!
So here you now also have a complete list of all C64

something is wrong with the timing. ; ) I can assure
you all the things mentioned above DID happen (and
I'm quite sure I forgot many :) ), but don't expect
any chronological order or so. Sorry about that...
By the way, many thanx to CLEVER/BUTCHERS who let
me use his Amiga to type all this shit.
