+---------+ +------------------+ |EDITORIAL| | PROPAGANDA 19 | _|EDITORIAL|_______|THIS IS JOURNALISM|_ +---------+ +------------------+ Dear readers, With september passing by, summer is nothing but a vivid memory and whatever that may bring. We're heading for 1996 at the speed of light, and believe it or not, we are putting another year of 8-bitstory behind us. I still startle at the thought and recall an interview I read with long gone KARATE KID from DOMINATORS in 1989. The last question in the interview asked how long the 64-scene would continue, to which KARATE KID quickly, and with self- concience responded. "The 64 will be dead in half a year!", and kept mumb- ling slightly about the Amiga taking over. I do not have to point out the the igorance in this statement, looking at it now, almost 7 years later. It came even clearer when I spoke to him late 1991 and he understood he had been wrong. At that point he said he regrett- ed having left at such an early point. Even STRIDER from FAIRLIGHT claimed he was sad about leaving the 64 when we spoke to him at the Christmas party in Aars, late 1992. At that point, I was in G*P, and we were not on the best of terms with FAIRLIGHT having put out their game RUBICON. STRIDER found it very amusing funragging about, but it was all to all a jolly time. I pity the people who were so hungry for the Amiga and other formats in the past. Look at their unhappy faces now. The 64 out- lived the Amiga by far, apart from a splendid demoscene, while the PC con- sists of waresrunning youngsters. It is awful, but most of the people on the PC are 14 and would go down on you for a callingcard. No, look at what we have. A small, but intense scene with an atmosphere that couldn't be mistaken. We have the groups, the cracks and the demos. We have the magazines, the fights and the struggles. We have 16 colours and Sidchip music. We have all the fun in the world, and a million people are missing it. The 64 outlived them all. +-------------------------+ |THE INDEPENDANT STATEMENT| |THE INDEPENDANT STATEMENT| +-------------------------+ PROPAGANDA 19 is probably one of the juiciest issues I have ever produced. I do so, with a splendid staff. My hardworking co-editor DEFF is expanding his efforts in the magazine immensly, and with the up-to-today-list, shortly called THE REAL LIST, we are covering the releasingrace on a higher ground. It is still interesting however, that some people prefer to accuse us for do- ing a job benefiting only certain groups on the charts. HOMEBOY from ONSLAUGHT took the accusations out in the light, and by golly did we drop our jaws. It is ridiculous at this point, that we'd even consider doing so. And we have to be very clear on this issue. PROPAGANDA is, and will remain an independant production. And still, you have to keep in mind, that even though producing a magazine takes a lot of time, it is not a fulltime job on the scene. That is why we also take part in different groups and join the race of releases. So no matter how you twist and turn, we will leave you with the same, dull statement; .. -- +-----------------------------+ |When producing PROPAGANDA, we| | do so as part of the staff | | - Nothing else. | +-----------------------------+ A public message to HOMEBOY and people thinking likewise. ________________________________________ +-----------------------+ |THE EDITORS ON LOCATION| |THE EDITORS ON LOCATION| +-----------------------+ By the end of September, I NEWSCOPY will take a brief vacation and visit DEFF in Germany. Though having met before, this is the first time in PROPAGANDA-history, that the two main- editors will in fact be working on the coming issue on location. The world is getting smaller and smaller by the min- ute. Issue 2O of the magazine you're reading is somewhat of an anniversary, and will most definately feature some nitty-gritty surprises. With this issue, number 19, we also have to take our hats of bow for a second. Since issue 9, we have made it a welcome habit including stunning artwork by our friend and artist SCOPE. Passing away tragically in March this year, we have had a limited amount of pictures to use. Therefore, we will now cease the popular PROPAGRAPH-series, leaving it to art-history. Thank you for all the work, Mathias. You know how much we liked and appreciated it. That more or less rounds up the prologue to this juicy issue. Flipping the pages, you will realize how powerful and fasc- nating the word and language really is. You will most probably sought for more. In that case, I advise you to also read the few, splendid competitors we have; THE PULSE, RELAX, DOMINATION and VANDALISM. These, my friends, are mag- azines who rightfully represent the sections the 64-scene today.
