Hopefully you understand that the game scene is one of the slowest moving scenes, so please excuse any of the news which may remain as it is for a period of time after the release of this magazine. Enjoy! Jazzcat/Onslaught NEWS AT A GLANCE: ------------- * Crystal Software will be releasing a game soon called "The Legend Of Kyril". Eagleware will now distribute for them, they also hope to expand in the next 3 years with a merger with Eagleware, which they regard as inevitable. Alex De Vries is General Manager. Michel Vaartjes is Chief Designer. * Mystery from Phuture productions will be available from 'Orbital Computers' (formerly known as 'Pc Soft') and it will be available for £4.99. In contrast to this, Cp Verlag supposably had the right to this game, so we must consider this an unofficial rumour. * Ambush Designs in Sweden are currently producing a conversion of the Console/Pc/Amiga hit "Worms" and also "Labyrinth 3d". * Thomas Koncina and Bjoern Odendahl from the old software lable 'Digital Excess' are back on the C64. They have some new projects already in the making aswell as unfinished software due at the X-97 party. * The American fanzine entitled 'The Underground' has merged with Softdisk Publishing's 'Loadstar Letter' This merger will boost competition within the American scene, especially against such titles as 'Commodore World' by Creative Micro Designs. * Threshold Productions died, but basically just the name, as the entire team created a new commercial lable called 'Arkanix Labs'. They will continue to produce games and tools on the C64 with even some software modified to take advantage of the Super Cpu (20 mhz accelerator). For those on the Internet, they can be contacted at: petars(at)arkanixlabs.com * Ewen Gillies, programmer of "Insanity" is apparently working on a number of titles. He may release in the not to distant future, a game entitled called "Bomber Clott" based on the Bomber Man game style. It also hasn't been confirmed yet, but he may also be working on a Summer Games type game, except it is based in outer space! Domination will keep you up to date on any further news on these mentioned titles. * In the United States, a company called Computer Workshops are currently programming a multi-system OS, which according to them will allow you to compile games on a C64 and run it on an Ibm Pc. They are also developing a game titles 'Nether', which will be a 3-dimensional shoot'em up. * Electric Boys Entertainment Software have gone bankrupt! They were responsible for distributing Cmd products and the magazine Commodore World and also distributed for Australian team Everlasting Style. * Cherry Software have had problems to provide customers with ordered games. They hope to finish the packaging of the much awaited "Bouncy Balls" game by Robert "BOB" Gy0rvari. To follow after this will be "Magical Formula" from Czech based team, New Entry. Hopefully their problems will be rectified to allow them to distribute ordered games such as "Dave Speed", "Future World" and "Maximum Overdrive". * Nitros Development's "Space Tracker", when it is completed, will contain a full 3-dimensional space flight simulator, with filled vectors and starfield,etc.. Different playing situations, different endings, sampled speech and quality graphics. Programmer Nathan Watkins wishes to make it as interactive as possible. They also show interest in producing a full 3d game (similar to Operation Wolfenstein) and are currently producing a multi-directional color scrolling platform game, similar to "Flimbo's Quest" and the genre. * Members of Plush and Fairlight aswell as other C64 groups have developed a new magazine and disk concept called GO64! It will contain the latest reviews, news, geos articles, coding tips and other articles exclusive to the mag. For subscription of 12 issues of GO64! it will cost DM 94 (German currency) and a 3 month subscription is DM 24. They have several software titles lined up such as 'The 9 lives of Fritz the cat', 'Shian Tiger style' and 'Shian - Wu Dang' which might be released in a dual compilation. The last in the line up is 'Erik the destroyer', already officially released is 'The Legend of Kyril' unplayable preview. The full game is out soon, so order it direct from Crystal Software. * Creative Micro Design (CMD) announced they will stop producing the successful 'Swiftlink' modem interface. They will replace it with the new 'Turbo 232' modem interface, which improves upon the Swiftlink as it enhances the ability to use modern modems by three. But some of the members are: Mirage/Focus 64, Tdj/Focus 64, Burner Psy, Metal/Camelot/Vibrants. * Plans on a Twin Terrors 2 are on the way, the game may be a multi screen format compared to the original which was recently distributed by the 'Commodore Fever' magazine.
