B: Hi there Barry! - Please introduce
yourself to the readers giving them
    some info about yourself (age,
    height, colour of hair/eyes).

D: Hi Bren, thanks for this short!!!
interview. Well, I am 58 years old,
5 feet 11 inches tall, I have hazel
coloured eyes, I weigh in at 16
    stone. Other interesting feature is
    my BEER BELLY!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: How long have you been around the
C-64 scene and explain how you got
    your handle 'DERBYSHIRE RAM'.

D: I got my 64 (first one) back in
late 1982, but only seriously got
into the cracking scene since 1985-
1986. The way how I got my name was
    because someone wayback used the
    name 'DERBYSHIRE RAM', just seeing
that the 'RAM' is the emblam to
    Derbyshire (where I live), the
    handle just stuck.

 --------------------------------------

B: What groups have you been in since
    you started your scene career
(please tell me the first group to
the last group including the year).

D: I first joined IKARI, in 1987 until
the English section quit. I then
went solo until I joined DOMINATORS
in 1089. I stayed with 'DOM' for
almost two years. Then I got myself
involved with the forming of the
new U.K. group DEADLINE, this only
lasted six months when in June 1992
    all members of DEADLINE, where
invited to join ILLUSION. I stayed
with ILLUSION, till the bitter end
(I think I was the last member to
quit) that was in December 1993.
I then had a short break then
    joined the new group AVANTGARDE,
and stayed with 'AVT', until June
    1996. Since September 1996 I have
been in F4CG. I hope these earlier
dates are correct, I get confused
    myself!!!

  -------------------------------------

B: What group(s) are you in at this
present time and are you enjoying
    being in them group(s) ???

 D: As I said earlier, I am in 'F4CG'.
    The groups atmosphere has changed
    dramatically over the years, now
I do not get the same satisfaction
because there are too many PC's
    around and too much INTERNET.

 --------------------------------------

B: We all know your a highly ranked
cracker, but, who taught you how
to crack - or are you self taught ?

D: I have never taken cracking very
seriously, I did it purely for fun!
I have never been a good cracker
    but obviously, other people over
    the years thought different.
I did teach myself how to crack
initially, but I picked up a few
    tips from here and there!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: Which crack are you most proud of ?

D: I did a 'personal' crack of 'SUPER
MARIO BROS.', I took my time when
I cracked this game for myself and
    got great satisfaction from it.

 --------------------------------------

B: Which crack do you wish you never
had touched (coz in your mind) it
    was a lousy crack ?

 D: Initially, 'BLUE THUNDER', springs
to mind!!! - But in recent years
there has been loads of lousy
    games.

 --------------------------------------

B: Which game took you the longest to
    crack (not including the packing
    and intro linking time) ?

D: My personal crack of 'SUPER MARIO
    BROS.'

 --------------------------------------

B: Which was your fastest crack (also
not including the packing and intro
    linking time) ?

D: Good question! - Back in the early
1990's, all games made by ZEPPELIN,
took around 20 minutes. Now, some
of the recent crap games take about
    5 minutes!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: We all know your a highly ranked
swapper. So, what is the largest
amoun of contacts you've had ?

D: At one time only 3-4 years ago,
    I had around 250 contacts - way
    too many!!!
I would say anyone with 50 contacts
    is doing quite well.

 --------------------------------------

B: Who is your best ever scene pal
(for being a 'REAL' good friend,
who writes long notes, sends you
    gifts etc. etc. etc.)

D: Well first, I never got gifts
unless you mean stickers and beer
mats. But, I had a lot of GOOD
friends from wayback, like most of
    the 'ILLUSION' guys... HERO, ROCKY,
    SAURON, RICHIE, REBEL, NMI, DEFF.
I have also had some great friends
    and still have... JERRY/TRIAD,
    NEOTEC, SPLATTERHEAD, and many
more. To be honest, at my age, all
    this really surprises me!!!

B: Yeah! - But you are a legend!!!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: If a scene pal of yours had just
written a game, would you crack it
just to get a 'FIRST RELEASE' ???
Or would you not bother cracking
the game coz your pal had written
    it ??? - If not why ???

D: I would probably crack the game
    eventually but, I would certainly
give HIM (my pal) chance to market
it first. Now then... if the coder
of the game wasn't a friend then I
    would have no SCRUPLES!!!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: Plase tell me what your favourites
    are in the following list.....

    * FOOD ?
    * DRINK ?

B: Please tell me what your most hated
things are in the following list...

    * FOOD ?
    * DRINK ?
    * SPORT ?
    * TASTE IN MUSIC (REAL MUSIC) ?
    * GAME (OLD OR NEW) ?
    * ANY OTHERS ????????????????????

I'll leave out the other options

    funniest dirty jokes ?

D: If I could remember one I would,
trouble is, I forget them 5 minutes
    after i've heard them!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: Could you tell me if you have ever
played a funny prank on someone
(outside the scene or inside - who
    cares ???).
If you did do something please
    explain what you did.

D: Certainly NOT on the scene, guys
tend to take things too seriously.
    But, back in 1989, I did a 'BIG -
NAME' crack around 180 blocks that
was a load of junk code and when it
ran, it just came up with.....
    'APRIL FOOL'!!!!!

 --------------------------------------

B: Between your family, you are a
    grandfather to enough children to
    make up a football team!!!
What name would you choose for this
'DREAM' football team of yours ?

D: Well, in the circumstances maybe I
    should call them 'RAMS RABBITS'.
But, I must not joke about soccer
at present, seeing as my own team
'CHESTERFIELD', are in the FA CUP
    semi-finals.

 --------------------------------------

B: Well, I'm coming to the end of this
    interview, so... many, many thanx
for answering my questions. If you
would like to send any greetings to
    anyone, then do it now.....

 D: Some interesting questions there
BREN, I would not have divulged my
sex life to everyone anyway, I will
    let them guess!!!
Yes, greetings to all the guys and
girls I have met in my years on the
64, all have meant a lot to me and
I would like to thank them for all
their support and time (too many
to name but they all know who they
    are!!!).
