  MUSICSCENE ISSUE NR.2, ADDYBOOK NR.7
----------------------------------------

welcome to another chapter in our mag.
this is MR.MOUSE! and guess what? yes,
you guessed it right: this time we got
some music send in! but because it is
obviously hard to PUSH you folks, we got
send in music by ONE fellow only!! shit.

what has happend since the last time?
well, because the first edition of
MUSICSCENE was started without any
anouncement, we did not have anything
to review, we had nothing send by you
folks! so i wrote a little note to all
of you outthere to send in your music!!
c64 or normal!! i mean: i don't think
GUY SHATITT and i are the only musicians
who play in some kind of band!!
so i send that letter around and hoped
that it would reach a wide area of
people. i still do. if you notice the
READ YOU ALL!-note, then read and spread
it!!! okay? ok.

----------------------------------------
anyway, the only person to reply was
ACTIVE of PROXYON. this is a fellow that
comes from the netherlands and has
started his musical£career about eight
months ago, so he isn't in there long.
PROXYON presented a collection of
ACTIVES first zax fi>e months ago. if
you got that piece of software, which
was a nice way to introduce ACTIVE as
musician, then load it up after you've
read this text. (small note to active:
if you send me a disk: USE A CARTBOARD
THING TO KEEP THE DISK SAVE FROM
DESTRUCTION!! i had to qave the software
on your faulty disk to another!)

right. on with the show...er, review.
if you listen to those tunes you shall
notice that most of them are build on
one basspattern. this is a fault that
many musicians make, including me.
i try to put a whole lot of things in
one song, but sometimes i'm just lazy
and leate it like that. dumb thing i
hear people say. indeed.
but some of the tunes are nice to use
in intro's, so i should check them out!
there are five songs in the collection,
including one housy piece. that is a
nice bass. in one or two songs i noticed
that the rythm was not as it should be,
in terms of music it was not straight.
a QUARTER note contains TWO EIGHT notes,
two eight notes contain 4 SIXTEENTH
notes together and so on. this means if
you use quarter notes you must use 4
quarter notes in one measure.
if you miss some it's rythmetic hard to
dance on, for instance.
and musically not okay.
because i noticed this in one or two
songs only, there is really no need to
say it is really irritating.
they were composed using VOICETRACKER.
i've heard a song which is more recently
composed by ACTIVE and it indicates that
he is improving.
that song is added to this issue of ADDY
BOOK. it was done using the DMC,
there are some nice bass patterns and
nice sounds. the only thing i find a bit
below average is the solo.
but at least it has GOT a solo. and that
counts! i've heard "musicians" that
don't have one: i had the sudden urge of
holding the disk in a magnetic field for
an hour or so...
so what do we have here?
we have a musician who can still learn
a lot, as we all can learn a lot, but
who is aiming in the right direction.

ACTIVE/PROXYON: percent:
--------------- --------

-introability   : 75
-rythmetic feel : 65
-longplayability: 40
-melody         : 45

remember to contact this dude, ok! he
may be worth the trouble!
----------------------------------------

okay, now let's talk about NIRVANA. why
does everybody think they are cool, when
they are not? at least that is what i
think and i shall tell you why.
if you get to listen to the song named
"SHE SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT" for the
first time, you'll probably think it's
a cool one. yeah, it's really a good
track to dance on! so far, so good.
now you get your ass into the musicshop
and ask for the complete cd.
but, you are smart,so you want to listen
to it, before you buy.
okay, the shopkeeper puts it in the
cd-player and you listen.
the first song you know, so you think:
yeah! now you press for the secmnd.
WHAT? this song sounds almost exactly
like the first one! number three:
HEY! WHAT'S THIS? it's all the same!!!
now if you listen very carefully you'll
understand what i'm saying. the songs
all sound alike and it's very boring.
so what do you do? you ask for the cd
and throw it at the shopkeeper, whose
head is being split in half.
"HOW DARE YOU LET THIS BE IN YOUR SHOP"-
you shout, kicking him in his stomach.
now, nirvana-fans, do not take this
personal, it's just my opinion.
i really love the song mentioned, but
i think the rest is mediocre.
----------------------------------------

we got a few comments send to us, on
this new chapter:

POMMAC/WOW: "the new chapters were
             great. try to have more
             metal-music in the music-
             scene section. thanx for a
             great mag!"

TRICE/CHROME: "well worth reading, i
enjoy it a lot! it's not
               very larde, but that's
               fine, not every mag
should be as long as the
               holy book."

----------------------------------------

okay dudes and dudettes, this was my
craptalk! PLEASE SEND IN YOUR MUSIC to
me! we want to put your review in!!
address below! come on. and spread the
READ YOU ALL!-note! ssspprreeaadd it!
