* EDITORIAL *

The R3L4X M4G4Z1N3 in December '95 was brought
to you by PHUTURE, your favourite disk magazine re-
leasing game label.
The EDITORIAL used to be a sort of freestyle chap-
ter in all our previous issues, and that is exactly the
reason for us not to change it. This chapter contains
general comments about various topics and terms
packed into one chapter while other competitors use
to divide it into various articles.

As the release-date of the December Edition got set
at December 31st, 1995 most of you will read this
text in the new year, to be more precise in 1996. We
survived another christmas and celebrated our very
own and annual christmas party in Denmark, this time
in Fredericia after having seen the locations moving
from Aars (1992) to Herning (1993, 1994).
Without any doubts we have to confirm that the glo-
rious days of the CBM 64 are finally over while re-
garding the effort of the software industry, but may-
be it is not only the commercial part who lost the in-
terest in this machine. With CP Verlag another flag-
ship left the fleet, so another CBM 64 publisher dis-
appeared in the endless width of the 16/32 computer
systems, as we have not detected a sign to see them
quitting that sector, too. Maybe there are some per-
sons who might show their interest in filling the gap,
but keeping realistic we think that we won't see much
better again, and people who pray the opposite can
not be taken serious any longer. In order to hold the
actual standart, what should be the MAJOR target
these days, it is necessary to support the few SE-
RIOUS publishers left, such as MAGNA MEDIA in Ger-
many or LOADSTAR (Softdisk Publishing) in the United
States of America. Instead of complaining about the
worse situation of the market people who are crying
for new software should better shut up and subscri-
be the few commercial publications left, as an every
new subscriber can save the existance of the com-
panies and the "flood" of new software for this be-
loved 8-bit machine.
But only the games sector, aswell the demo sector
reduced its activity. No, we are not talking the few
demoes being spread at the various parties all over
the years, we are looking at the periods between the
few parties being hold. What came in this time? Abso-
lutely NOTHING! And what is the reason for it? People
want to get famous, well known characters looking
for people to adore them, that is their only motivation
to WORK on a demo. Impressing an huge audience, to
see the demo shown on a BIG screen to freaks being
owners of various computer systems, people voting
for them and maybe to earn some prize money is the
motor, the impulse to get the "new" demo generation
started. Indeed it is a very sad effect of the evolu-
tion who made the scene what it is these days.
Where is the fun left who made us CREATING or IN-
VENTING something in former days? We did not care
about any release dates, we felt free to release our
demoes whenever we felt like doing it. We enjoyed to
have worked as a team in order to present something
what pleased us, and we were proud to share it with
the public, today people are only interested in pro-
ducing AMIGA/PC cloned trackmos, in order to keep
the audience happy and amazed, not to have some
fun during the production. People are only satisfied
when they raise or rule the charts, it is not the hob-
by, not the fun, it is the prestige and the reputation
what does count for them.
Surely, realising a trackmo needs much more time
compared with a "simple" demo, but we all do love to
remember to the old times, when we could quit a part
with the space bar when we liked the leave it instead
of watching the 23rd vector object of an optimized
routine, dictated by a so-called trackmos. But the
"generation" today looks like being dictated from the
mass media such as MTV or VIVA, or maybe from the
other computer systems, what is trendy, and it's not
only a little bit sad how people follow their false pro-
phets, in this case it can be defined as COMMERCIA-
LISM. People use to follow fashions they get dictated
instead of doing whatever they would like to do, that
is infact really a negative movement, and the sad as-
pect is that most did not even notice that they are
steered by a remote, secret instructor.
Our wishes for 1996 are to see people releasing de-
finately much more demoes compared to 1995, to see
people having fun again while producing demoes in-
stead of being stressed, thinking about the feedback
or if you prefer reactions from the audience in or-
der to get some more points and to raise in the so
overrated charts. Creating demoes should be an ex-
citing HOBBY, not a profession!
And as a game label we would for sure love to see
some advanced and complex games, but more impor-
tant is one or even more serious distributors who
are able to sell a lot of copies in order to make it
more interesting to produce new games and to deve-
lope/invent more advanced and stunning game ideas
even for this machine. Ofcourse we are realistic and
have already noticed that you can not make the BIG
money with Commodore 64 games anymore, this period
is already history what even the most enthusiastic
people might have remarked yet, but the income
should still be a nice donation, or if you prefer pok-
ket money, for the production team, an amount of mo-
ney which should encourage the producers to work
on just another game.
There are many things all the different scene related
persons are looking for, we truely hope that 1996
will become a good, successfull year where you will be
able to realise your dreams and aims, in the scene
and ofcourse in REAL LIFE, what might be more im-
portant in our eyes.
... what charts are fair charts? ...

... is for sure one of the most discussed question
since those damned CHARTS exist. But to be honest,
who is capable to give the ULTIMATE and only accept-
able answer? Each chart system has its very own
gaps which make a fair judgement impossible.
What is the general SENSE of charts? The original
idea was to present a list of the best ones, to be
more precise to show a compilation of different opi-
nion from various persons in order to find out and
honour people which are supposed to be the very
best ones of their kind.
Unfortunately, sad but true, the REALITY looks quite
different. Many people manipulate(d) or abuse(d) the
votes in order to get advantage for themselves
self-voting) or their close friends (friendship votes)
and this behaviour let the charts drift away from
their original idea towards a system to honour the
most POPULAR, instead of the most skilled, persons
of the scene.
Another interesting factor while analysing the charts
is the actual standart or better the general reputa-
tion of a magazine in the 8-bit society. The more less
known a magazine is, there more unknown persons
will be found in the lists, and in more known magazi-
nes on the other hand you will probably find members
of well reputated groups, in both cases regardless
from the fact if they do deserve the position of if
they don't do it.
CHARTS created with votesheets is the standart me-
thod to build up the charts chapter in almost all ma-
gazines. Most of the publications using this method
do not accept votes for themselves or their produc-
tions, what is infact a fine idea in order to keep the
charts more objective for the audience.
Votesheet SPREADER are another point to request
the objectivitity of the presented charts. At first we
have to notice that most, not all, are interested to
get some publicity and expect votes for themselves,
their groups and their productions, so the more
sheets spread means more points for the spreader
and so on. Does this mean FAIRNESS at all?
MEGA CHARTS, or so-called compiled charts which
might be described are ripped charts from some un-
qualified, uncompetent magazine "editors", seem to be
the ultimate and most fair solution, unfortunately it
offers some bugs, too, which will be recognized on the
second, or maybe third view. If one group does relea-
se one or even more issues in the period within the
period between the release of the previous and ac-
tual edition of the magazine using the mega charts
there might appear a major disadvantage for the un-
lucky crew showing this intense activity as they are
twice not named in the votes taken into consideration
to create the charts. This is infact the only visible
system error, and we can not change it anyway be-
cause if this problems appears and people are con-
sidering about removing one issue, which issue should
be banned in order to create the charts? There is
always something left worth to complain and moan, we
will continue using this system, and people who do not
believe in the fairness of our charts are invited to
read the index of the mail charts, to use their Pocket
Calculators (PCs?) and to control it. The difference
contains the votes compiled from our votesheets, so
you can be sure about a rather fair, reliable charts
system.
SPLITTED CHARTS have been seen lately, maybe the
latest trend using the coverage getting the charts
more fair. How to split them? There are so many dif-
ferent methods to split up or analyse the charts, but
the very best thing is everything can be splitted up
as long as possible. One of the most simple examples
are the graphic artist charts. They can be splitted in
logo and picture artists. This is only beginning, as it
starts here exactly. When we divide these cathego-
ries we have to start over and continue, starting
with the various graphic formats (koala bitmap, fli,
ifli, singlecolour hires, super hires, ...) and for those,
after having already read 5 chart chapters it can be
completed with splitting continents and countries as-
well. This procedure can easily be made with all the
different chart entrances. Surely so new (un)packed
text records can be set up, but a reformation of an
already six years well working chart system is for
sure not the fitting solution to reach the aim, to get
more fair charts. Votesheets won't be votesheets
any longer, they will metamorph into votebooks,
everything will be blown up and at the end of list the-e
re is a frustated and totally confused reader who
won't understand what is going on anymore.
Some people do need the charts and a good position
will be celebrated for the rest of their life, others do
read and accept them while the rest does not care at
all. Nevertheless it is only a list of names appearing
in a sub-culture called CBM 64 scene, and yester-
days top spot will be forgotten with the next list.
There does not exist a system to get the ultimate,
most objective and reliable charts ever, neverthe-
less the general system and divisions are quite use-
ful and functional, so there is really no need to re-
formate it as long as the improvements are real im-
provements, and nothing what leads into an unexpec-
ted, short-sighted chaos.
If all chart positions would look similar in all various
magazines there would be no motivation to check them
out another time, so it is quite good to report about
each magazine having an own vote system, different
rankings, all factors what makes it interesting to
check out, to wonder and to complain about what we
get offered, something we really do not want to miss,
as long as it is getting spoiled.

cial in their cathegory - subjective objectivity of-

Welcome to our last global report in the year 1995.
This year the Relax Magazine used to be your favou-
rite news host, and in the year 1996 we hope to hold,
and what seems to be more important, we still try to
improve our very own standart, providing you with
the latest news instead of poor and weak observed
speculations from the editors or their notorious
"news" suppliers.
* Alpha Flight 1970 *

In the winter months Alpha Flight has shown some ac-
tivity, but all in all in was a quiet month for the flight-
ers, without any big movements or stunning actions,
but then AFL Poland felt like entertaining the scene.
Spider, the name standing for confusion these days,
seems to have joined Motiv 8, while Styx, who acts as
one of the main organisers these days, still claims
that Spider still belongs to AFL. Anyway, we will keep
you updated, as long as possible.
A similar situation was caused by the second polish
member called Blaze, who was supposed to take over
the leadership of the polish section. Chromance an-
nounced several times to have him recruited, on the
other hand Blaze assured still belonging to the flight
was can be discribed as an entertaining sequence in
a time when boredom overhelmed the scene. To get it
to an end the dutch cooperation of SCS & TRC seems
to be group he is actually a member of, but for how
how long?
Actually various guys in Germany got caught for
abusing PBXes, and as a matter of a fact that the po-
lice found Xenox's address in our of their raids he
felt like putting down THE ESCAPADE. Fortunately he
was not visited by the police yet so things went back
to normal and it went online again. Germans should
take care while abusing the lines of other european
companies such as the British Telecom which caught
Gizmo/ex-Accpect who has been starting this fuzz.
The result is that the european Telecoms settled up
an agreement to TRACE all lines when there are sus-
pects about hackers/illegal users in their system.
With Cryonic, a former member of Pioneers back in
1990/91, teamed up in form of being a programmer,
what is for sure the positive headline for this month.
In order to clean up with certain rumours cruising
around Ignorance and Marc we can assure that both
have NOT joined the army RECENTLY, unlike certain
other concurence magazines wrote. Fact is that the
army is Ignorance's job and not the usual one year
service which makes people reducing their activity,
while Marc re-started his education and his heading
for a master's degree. Facts, facts, facts, .....

Chromance is boasting full of activity this month, a
fact we can not name when we review the past few
weeks, mainly in form of many new members. Time will
tell if they are an enrichment for them, as quantity
does not mean quality.
The month started with booting their promising mail
trader called Scatman, another person of the well
know stamp cheaters being hunted at the moment.
Their US-HQ Final Genocide got a new number, please
see below, and Edge Of Midnight is said to go online
again in a not too far distant.
Sage, the brother of Lotus, who recently returned to
the scene, joined <C> as a music composer. All the
other persons who joined in are related with the mo-
dem scene, even if they are not too well known yet.
In the USA Zeyex got recruited as a modem trader
and original supplier, while with XXL for Country Jail
and Fusion for Final Genocide teamed up in order to
serve a s co-sysops, while Fusion will be active as
board graphic-artist, too.

* Fantastic 4 Cracking Group *

The fantastics did cooperated in the past few months
with the Avantgarde crew which took over the part
of cracking and fixing while F4CG supplied the coop
releases.
Walker, their swedish mail trader, has to join the
army starting on January 1st, 1996. This will cause
him reducing his scene activity alot. $ixx, formerly
known as Goz, took over his contacts while Intruder/
Avantgarde will care about the charts chapter of the
magazine Propaganda.
In order to keep up the warez front in the mail scene
they have recruited the polish swapper Chash, who
got taken in on trial to prove if his activity will come
up to F4CG's standart.

Hitmen is the house of a bunch of skilled persons
which unfortunately specialised on NTSC fixing warez
for other groups. In the past few months some chan-
ges occured to prove them being capable to compete
with the major cracking groups aswell.
In their seek to enlarge their activity aswell in the
cracking side of the illegal business Moby/ex-Nipson
from Poland joined in as original supplier.

The danish based cracking group always standing in
the fire of public critism due to their unusual methods
and visions seems to form a nice demo section, in or-
der to enlarge their activity to the legal part of the
scene, too.
The show begun with Spider/ex-Alpha Flight teaming
up with them. The situation around Spider isstill a
little bit mysterious, as a few groups containing Afl
still claiming him to be a member of their groups.
In order to enlarge their polish section MHD/ex-Fe-
niks joined as composer to be another member of
their announced demo section. Their composer TMG
joined the eastern german based demo group Siesta
as second crew next to Motiv 8.

This month we got really disappointed by the group
which used to have the biggest fluctuation in the
CBM 64 history. It seems that they becam serious and
surprised the scene with some unexpected releases
from their side.
Sharp, a part of Accuracy who have joined Onslaught
a few weeks ago, officially lef the scene for PC.
Kinley/ex-Paradox joined in as cracker. Grafee/ex-
Feniks/ex-Equinoxe got recruited as programmer
and original supplier, who seems to be another mem-
ber for the demo section named as Onslaught Design.

Somehow it seems that the dutch cooperation has a
very strong period since a few months after their
so-called summer break. Unfortunately the big
headlines around this group will be officially spread
on January 1st, 1996, so we can not report about it
yet. Keep patient.
From the Czech Republic some fresh blood got im-
plantated with Bacillus and Allitaice, both well known
for their efforts in the czech group Citadel. Having
this both members in their reigns, SCS & TRC is the
first top cracking group having a czech section
these days.
While Alpha Flight and Chromance still claim to have
him in their own lines SCS & TRC took him on board,
Blaze is the person we are talking about. It is always
funny to see how loyal people are towards their
groups. He teamed up as an original supplier and
cracker, being another member in their polish sec-
tion.
Another interested point is the membership of Tris-
tan, former member of Empire. On our direct request
Tristan explained not owning a working CBM 64 any-
more nor being active since 1992, so the effort he
can put in the cooperation might be rather question-
able.
The Alchemist once again forgot to pay his phone bill
so The Dungeon went down once again just because
Kyle forgot to pay his phoneline. We keep patient.
Last but not least, being still worth to be menitoned,
The Digital Dungeon, also known as Pitel, moved its
address to Utopia.Hacktic.NL. Whenever you are on
the net, log in anonymous for the latest warez, its
definately worth being visited!

* The danish demo group Bonzai is considering about
a serious comeback and producing some demoes on
this machine again. According to Scortia, Ricky,
Crush, Dize and himself (all known as Silents DK on
the Amiga and living together in an appartment)
got inspiration and want to prove that they are
still capable to compete on this machine.
* The groups Acrise and Excess went in cooperation
and can not be taken as a great surprise as the
group is mainly built up by former Excess members
or Excess related persons. ALL releases are go-
ing to be publish using the coop label.
Red Rock got a board online. Its name is COVERAGE
(+XX/XXXX-XXXXX). Furthermore there is another
party taking place in Emsdetten from January 6th,
1996 to January 7th, 1996, being located in the
PFADFINDERHEIM in Emsdetten. The entrance fee is
DM 20,-- for two nights and DM 5,-- for one night.
Not a very busy period, nevertheless some interes-
ting things worth to be read have been collected. See
you here again in the next issue.

Before the start over with general explainations for
these release charts we want to introduce our very
own point system:
Fullprice Games 6. 1 - 8.0 points
Budget Games 4. 1 - 6.0 points
Low Budget 2. 1 - 4.0 points
PD/Shareware 1.0 - 2.0 points
Previews 0.0 - 1.0 points
One bonus point can be gained by releasing a 100% (!)
working PAL/NTSC version. When a second group got
involved with the NTSC fix the points will be shared.
Games which were already PAL released have to be
fixed within 6 months after the official PAL release
otherwise no points will be given for the NTSC fix.
Minus points will be given for...

Unlike most other magazines we won't give points for
tools. Those releases will get mentioned but that's all
about them.
SEUCK GAMES, BASIC GAMES, COMPILED BASIC
GAMES and such games that were done using a GAME
MAKER will be ignored.
Whenever we think somebody did something special
or something outstanding we will add one point to the
normal amount of points.
It is also possible to get one extra point for some-
thing that normally doesn't deserve any points.

The flight started with the fixed versions of JOE
(3.6 pts), Turbo Racer (3.9) from Butterfly
Productions, WORLY (4.2 pts) one extra point will be
given for the translation and ZINJ COMPLEX (1.0 pts)
they released the pal versions some weeks ago so
i give only one point for the Pal/Ntsc fix. Last but
not least they uploaded a cool graphic tool called
GODOT (0.0 pts) from Magna Media and three pre-
views BALLZ (1.0 pts), IDUNA II (0.2 pts) and RED 20
(0.4 pts).
* Avantgarde (8.6 pts) *

They released the fixed version of LACED TILES
(4.8 pts) from Magna Media, the previews of COLOURA
2 (1.0 pts) and LORD MC SUN (0.7 pts). And together
with F4CG they uploaded the preview of PINZ (0.5p.)
and the fixed version of WONKY WORM (1.6) of course
the points will be shared between both groups.
* Chromance (11.6 pts) *

They started with the fixed versions of FLARE (3.1p.)
SHIFTY BALLS (3.2 pts) and ALIOTH (4.3 pts) they
changed the graphic in to english so one extra point
will be given. And not to forget that they released the
MULTI COLOUR INTERLACE EDITOR (0.0 pts) and that
they Pal/Ntsc fixed for Motiv 8, BOUNCY (1.0 pts).

Together with Avantgarde they released the fixed
version of WONKY WORM (1.6 pts) and the preview of

Board Charts
* THE BOARD CHARTS *

Welcome to your probably most favourite chapter,
the charts. The Relax is the only magazine so far
offering seperate board and mail charts in order to
show the charts from two different worlds in the be-
loved CBM 64 scene since modem traders do not have
the time or possibility to fill votesheets, otherwise
they would be called mail traders.
One of the most asked questions is what kind of votes
will be taken into consideration while counting these
charts. The answer is very simple. At first there are
voting booths on THE ESCAPADE in good old Europe
and on THE EVIL ISLAND (welcome back) in the United
States of America. Furthermore it is possible to vote
by sending e-mail to Marc/Afl at an every elite board
worldwide. There exists the opportunity to vote via
Internet, too, by mailing your votes to Max' or RRR's
account and it will be taken into condiseration while
counting the votes.
These board charts are the fastest moving charts
due to the fact that there is no votesheet which tra-
vels weeks or months to reach its destination. All the
votes were made between the previous and this issue
so this is some kind of mirror of the activity of cer-
tain established and new groups.

A quite silent month here. Oxyron was voted back on
number one, Byterapers have fallen down on two. The
rest remained unchanged, except for Camelot over-
taking Agony Design, Taboo and Focus changed pla-
ces, too.
More movement can be expected after all the contri-
butions of THE PARTY V have been released and no-
ticed by the voters.

hold by Oxyron since 3 years by now. TTS and Quiss

beaten by Druid this time. At the end of the list a fa-
dilar face has re-entered the charts, a man well
known as Axis, a man capable to programm everything
defined as a computer. Brush has left the chars, no
idea how to describe his actual status.

Surprise, surprise! Avantgarde got beaten by the
ruling cooperation from the Netherlands, sending
them back to two, still having the flight on their neck.
Furthermore Chromance and F4CG changed places

The graphic artist list offered some changes, even if
most are simple position changes. Cruise is still the
worthy leader, followed by Electric and Ogami. At the

Well, atleast we can report to have found a new name

almost all fixes are done by european/australian ba-
sed groups. Avantgarde and Alpha Flight are still on

As you use to know it from the former months, Sky-
high and Nitro changed places again. The brilliant
BOARD magazines are going stronger and stronger,
attacking the top spot in the near future. Keep in
mind that VN only got 5 out of 6 votes, as their list
got used in here, too. The Pulse is back here, too,
nice to see Duke and Co. back on a well deserved top
ten spot. Revealed won't be release anymore, accor-
ding to Kring, and left the charts because of a lack
of votes.

As another year passed we feel free to honour these
persons who made a major effort in their cathegories
out of the board and mail charts. These awards are
for sure subjective, nevertheless made rather ob-
jective in our very own opinion.

REFLEX
Reflex released a lot of brilliant demoes and has gi-
ven the name activity a very new meaning, a meaning
we seem to have lost some time ago in a dark period
where lazyness rules.

QUISS/REFLEX
Matthias has realised almost unbelievable effects in
his brillaint styled trackmos, next to the fact that he
coded some nice games plus certain excellent tools
which make him being a worthy leader in this cathego-
ry.

AVANTGARDE
No one was able to beat the men around Deff when it
comes around releasing first releases. Furthermore
they have released almost an every release working
100%, fixed and in a nice presented version.

IGNORANCE/ALPHA FLIGHT 1970
When it comes around making the shortest possible
and most trained version Thomas is the name to be
told. Being rather active he managed to get almost
an every game much shorter as the concurence, so
there are no doubts who is the number one here.

CRUISE/TABOO
Not only his brilliant art show called Ritual II amazed
the masses, furthermore he did a lot of excellent
game graphics making him the name to be told here.

SHOGOON/TABOO/AGONY DESIGN
When you have been listening to all the brilliant tunes
released in the Agony Designs demo LOVE there is
one choice possible here: Shogoon. One of his major
advantages is that he is using the Hardtrack
Composer a quite different music editor than the
masses, and this is what you hear. Well done!
* BEST MAIL TRADER 1995 *

SCROLL/MEGASTYLE PRODUCTIONS
Returning from the ashes of nowhere Ruben took
over a massive amount of contacts and used to swap
in a nearly impossible speed. Unfortunately he actu-
ally disappeared as fast as he appears, due to his
job.

VANDALISM NEWS
The crew around Vengeance managed it to get it re-
gular released, offering a quite high text standart in
comparison with the large rest. Nevertheless no
other magazine managed it to release as much issues
as VN in 1995, so Matt and Jose are the well deser-
ved winners over here.

SUICIDE/AVANTGARDE
When there was something no other fixer managed to
fix Chris took over the keyboard and has shown how
it works and runs perfectly. Coming back and being
the shooting star in 1995, so the choice was made
quite easy.

AVANTGARDE
Avantgarde is not only to most valueable cracking
group, furthermore they even managed it to be the
leading fixing crew back in 1995. Suicide and Jack
Alien have shown their immense strength, and that is
what we appreciate. Well done, Robert and Chris.

Today I have the pleasure to bring you an interesting
interview with a well known dude, who is long enough
this fantastic scene. It is CBA of The Ruling Company.
Relax: Hello Niels. As usual we ask our guests to
introduce themselves, so you are invited to share as
much personal information as possible with us, coming
up to what you are interested in sharing with us
here.
CBA: Okey here I go, my real name is Niels Alkema I am
23 years old and live in a city calledZaandam (where
is moved recently) sharing an apartment together
with Nightshade and Tim from Success PC. I work as a
computer supervisor at an elevator safety company
in Amsterdam and in my spare time I like to visit
concerts and festivals who often take place in
Holland and in Denmark etc.
R: After the personal data it is time for the scene
data. What about your detailed scene history?
C: It all started when I got for 11th birthday a
commodore c64 and allready fastly got hooked on the
idea of getting lotsa illegal copied games. At that
time I allready noticed the starting from various
cracking groups and their so called intro's .. I got
bored with playing games andand started to learn
basic, in '85 when I was allready able to program a
bit I formed my first ever group called THE GANG
with a few friends of mine. That time I got to learn the
basics of machine code very fast and we started to
release music ripps and other stuff. Already soon I
started to crack games who I got from a computer
software hire-library from England., cracking the
game from tape and then returning it was what I've
done most around that time, I started to mail-trade
with groups like Fire Eagle, The Wizards and The
Last Science. In '88 I went to visit my first ever copy
party, the WWE*MGF*Joy party, that party our group
splitted up and I started my second group called
OASE, where I continued cracking games, allready
soon I got bored and called up TDJ/WWE and joined
WORLD WIDE EXPRESSIVE at the end of '89. In '90
when WWE died after the HORIZON party I teamed up
with TRC where I am still at.
R: Well, the handle CBA sounds quite weird to me ;-)
if you ask me. How did you come to the handle and
especially, is there a deeper meaning of it? I allready
supposed it to be your first attempt to say the ABC
correct... :)
C: Not really, I guess my handle was made up at the
I just bought my first c64, I was playing games a lot
and when you did enter the highscore, most of the
time you were only able to type 3 chars .., I always
typed CBA, why? Don't ask me... a year later I made up

R: In the very beginning TRC used to be well known
for their demo section with members like e.g. Reyn
Ouwehand. What was the reason to morph more into
a cracking group all over the years?
C: When I teamed up with them in '90, it seemed that
most old TRC members got bored and went over to
other computers, I started cracking and Action-
Jackson started to send me lotsa originals, from
there we quickly turned into a cracking/demo group,
'92 saw the release of the last TRC demo called
September Celebsation, from that point also most of
the demo coding members quited the scene mainly
because of school activities and never came back.
R: TRC is a group most learnt to know as a part of a
cooperation all over the years, in former times it was
WWE, today it is Success. What are the exact reasons
for this policy, and please add the group history of
TRC, too.
C: Before I joined in TRC was in coop with WWE, in '90
went into cooperation with the legendary spanish
blasters, the TRC*TBI cooperation sadly ended as
JR.Predator died, jan'94 saw the light of the
TRC*SCS cooperation and the main reason behind
all our cooperations is the good friendship we have
with the other group, meaning we are also good
friends with them out of this subculture scene
fantasy ! :)
R: During the last time it seemed as if the TRC*SCS
coop would still only exist between CBA & SCS.. Have
you never thought about joining SCS? I guess the
graphicans would be happy about that, as they would
have less work while painting intro-logos! :)
C: That might be true, as it seemed that most of the
actually TRC members from the beginning weren't
that active anylonger and infact most of the stuff
was done by myself, TRC*SCS ain't anylonger two
seperate groups, perhaps some people still think
that.. We've grown together!
R: What do you think about the present euro H*P
scene? There have been a lot of busts in germany
lately, what caused that more and more people stop
calling out. Do you think that will mean the end of the
US-BBSes? How is the situation particulary in the
netherlands at the moment?
C: Well this year I saw the first ever bust for
blueboxing in holland, a good friend of mine was using
a new trick and got busted on it big time, after that
most tricks died and a lot of people got scared, the
dutch H/P scene hasn't been that big as before...
Only a few people have always been able to call out
using either CC/BB or VMB dialouts..., I guess the
main reason for the lack of callers is that it's getting
harder and harder than it was a few years ago.., also
seeing a good friend getting busted big time makes
you think about the risk even more, for Holland the sit
uation is still very good concerning H*P, tollfree numb
ers are changing fast and give us new interesting sys
tems to hack at.
R: The internet is getting more and more popular
these days, and you are involved from the pioneer
days. What is your opinion about this new "media"
and what changed all over the years?
C: This new media is like the third step into computer
commuication from my point of view. I started of with
mail-trading, then in '89 I went to the modem scene,
calling boards, up and downloading files. Now you
have the internet where you can communicate with
e-mail and files so fast that the other options before
just dissapear into nothing, the main thing about
the net that changed over the years is the better
access for everybody directly to the net, in the
beginning days you could only get access through a
hacked university account, nowadays the net became
a public good and every living human is able to get
connected to it.
R: When we are talking about ftp-sites, the Digital
Dungeon is one of the major sites for the cbm 64. It
would be nice to read more about, its history and the
reasons for changing addresses lately.
C: The Digital Dungeon was founded when I got in
touch with Dimitri *Viking* at a local SCS*TRC meeting
he offered me disk-space on his university test
computer, the site started the next day running on a
64kb connection and was very slow, allready soon I
started to transfer lotsa c64 files to the net and
with the help from our american member Coolhand the
site got to be popular very quickly as we were the
only ones who had illegal *haha* c64 games online.
After Pitel got a 2megabit connection and the c64 cd
from Bod got online, activity of the site became
extremely high, with sometimes more than 10 ftp users
leeching at the same time. The real owner of the site
(the root) didn't like that c64 idea from the beginning
and got irretated about the many people leeching
their asses off, causing lotsa delays for other users
from the Pitel computer while they were working. A
month or two ago he got really sick about the whole
thing and we had to move from the site (main reason;
having illegal software online! haha..), fastly I started
searching for a new site and I got a few offers, I
started talking to Mr. Ammo/Triad about the problem
and he knew somebody at utopia.hacktic.nl who used
to be on c64 long ago, after lotsa mail swaps and
getting things straight, I was able to continue running
TDD. Since then lotsa things have been improved
about the site and we still have a huge flow of
leechers, leeching sometimes more than 30mb a day
of c64 wares only!
R: The Dungeon became the victim of a sick creature
who formatted it several times in the past few months
Please comment the situation out of your sight, and
are there any suspects wich turn out to become
proven facts about the identity of this lamer?
C: Well one thing can be said about these happenings,
it always got formatted when we in TRC*SCS had a
great month release-wise.., perhaps some person
just can't stand the fact of us being # 1, I guess he
can't compete with us and therefore he starts
formatting the board, I really don't see the point of
doing that..Sofar we don't have a clue who the person
might be, but hell this person must be really sick, and
if I ever meet him I will surely make him sorry for
what he has done to us and especially to Kyle.
R: As a person participating in the scene for a quite
long period, what is your honest opinion about the
scene today and in former times, especially covering
the modem scene.
C: Well if I compare nowadays scene to a few years
ago, say like '93 when competition still was high on
the USA boards and compare it to nowadays I can
only say that the fun of doing a first release ain't
that great anymore. It used to be really a kick to get
a game out first knowing some other group was
cracking it around the same time, beating them just
by a few hours was really exciting, sometimes it still
happens nowadays but it will never be the same like
former times when a Euro group depended on an
american fixing group and when hearing on the phone
while talking to Booze/Empire that Count 0 from RSI
allready called a few minutes before with the same
game. hehe that was really fucked up.. fastly throwing
it out Pal didn't help a thing.
R: Wich game contained the hardest protection you
have ever removed, and why was it so difficult?
C: I guess the first years when I cracked games from
tape was really something fucked up for me as then I
didn't understand the $ 0300 tape memory and kept
on reseting my good old dutch KCS power-cartridge
meaning the loss of the memory. The game Thrust
gave me many nights of non sleep as I wasn't able to
get it of tape 100%. Remember Complex? I gave it right
away to Burglar as he is much better as me in these
to say...sort of a JUDGEMENT DAY like AVT always
wrote..hehe... :-)

We have for sure been present at The Party V and
will share our impressions with you in the new few
lines, followed by an invitation to the Symposium '96,
a party being held in Germany next April. But first we
took care about THE PARTY, probably the biggest
scene party, hold traditionally annual in Denmark,
Skandinavia.
* The Organisation *
------------------------------------------------------------
For the very first time no CBM 64 groups dared to
take over the part of the organisers, but to be ho-
nest, there were no major changes compared with
the previous years. Everything is more 16-bit orien-
tated, and the CBM 64 owners got accepted as pay-
ing guess who were allowed to show their demoes on
the big screen.
The party place Dronning Magrethe Hallen in Frede-
rica is located near to the german border (120 kilo-
metres) and offered space for around 4000 visitors
was is quite big in comparison with e.g. Herning. Ne-
vertheless around 3000 freaks from the CBM 64,
PC, Amiga, Atari, Archimedes and Mac scene have
shown up to celebrate their annual convention here.
The DMH offered toilets, cafeteria and snack shops
in order to keep the body running well, the shower
facilities have been in a near located swimming pool
where you had to pay fees in order to take a shower
what is nothing but ANNOYING! Please read more
about it later.
After having been cleaned the toilets looked alright,
but just one hour later there was a real mess again.
We wonder that they did not take an entrance fee
here again, but maybe, after having read this text,
they might do it.
The entrance fee was quite high with DKK 250,-- and
the prices in the cafeteria were even higher (1,5 l
Coke, Pommes and a French Hot Dog = DKK 60,--) so
nothing really changed in comparison with the pre-
vious years.
The competitions have been runned one a really BIG
screen and the sound equipment was really im-
pressing, unfortunately the volume level has been
set too high. Except for problems during the PC com-
petitions everything worked fine here.
As usual, some may call it tradition in here, no alco-
hol was allowed at the party place. The guards even
dared to search in the luggage for it if they had any
suspects. Alcoholized persons, such as Jihad, even
got temporary banned from the party place.
The planned shedule was not held in exactly and even
the end cerenomy with the awards was delayed and
took place one hour later.
* The Competitions (CBM 64) *
------------------------------------------------------------
After the CBM 64 seems not to be the most popular
computer anymore in the eyes of the organisers it
did not surprised us to see them only arranging a
demo competition. Like in the previous year the gra-
phic and music competition was held by CBM 64 sce-
ne related persons having the official status as
standart party visitors. This time F4CG and Reflex
organised a COMPETITION for the ones who dared to
join in, unfortunately during the music contest there
appeared some bugs (playing musics twice) and inter-
ferences (sound problems, technical!) but all in all
they did a nice job, pleasing the audience and the
contributors.
The demo competition was supposed to become rather
interesting this time as a lot of groups announced to
contribute, unfortunately most seemed to be rumours
or people did not manage it to finish their produc-
tions in time. With Oxyron, Reflex and Antic some well
known compete, while with Smash Designs, No Name
and Siesta among others some ambious ones got on
start for the hunt of the PRIZE MONEY.

* Summary *

For sure it is very nice to meet each year directly
after christmas all friends and contacts of the scene
and positive or even negative nerds sitting infront of
their computer, preparing various productions in or-
der to get them released during the convention. Un-
fortunately, taking THE PARTY V as an example, our
beloved pardy organised by a sub-culture known as
computer scene, it all turned by 360 degrees, head-
ing away from a party into a commercial happening.
The spirit got lost and the commercial interests seem
to be more important these days, starting with a ra-
ther high entrance fee of DKK 250,- (and DKK 300,-
when you entered the party place before the official
start!), following by the merchandising programm
supporting this convention, starting with the traditio-
nal t-shirts being offered for DKK 70,-- up to the
official TPV CD-Rom for DKK 150,--. The most annoy-
ing fact was that the visitors had to pay for an every
single shower they took, being divided into two diffe-
rent periods from 08.00 - 10.00 for DKK 10,- and
from 10.00 - 18.00 for DKK 25,-. We wonder that we
had not to pay for using the toilet, but we presume
that will be introduced for the new christmas party.
If all parties follow this trend it seems to be much
better organising own, private meetings, where you
can have more FUN for maybe a fifth of what you use
to pay here.
The official party t-shirts you could buy there had
as a motive M&M advertisements, while on the big
screens always that annoying MC Donalds spot run to
bore the audience.
For sure it was nice to meet group mates, friends,
contacts and even enemies there, but to be honest,
they might come up other chances to see a more
funny party, taking notice of the existence from the
one and only computer, the CBM 64.
And now we feel free to publish the most important
facts about the soon coming Symposium '96 party, all
collected in the OFFICIAL party invitation at The Par-

... this text wants to tell you is that there will be a
very delicious computer demo festival in 1996, invol-
ving the platforms which are important in the guild of
the demomakers, namely Amiga, PC, CBM 64, Archime-
des and Atari ST/Falcon, which you should consider
twice at least if you can afford to miss it.
WHO?

This event is held by three of the most experienced
party organizer teams in Germany, the people behind
the 680XX-Convention, the Black Box Symposium and
the Fried Bits. For the Symposium '96, which we plan
to become the best german party so far, these three
teams fusioned for not standing in competition to
each other but making everything together and bet-
ter than ever! The groups involved are: POLKA BRO-
THERS, LEGO CLUB, PHANTASM (Amiga), AVENA, AB-
SENSE (Atari) and OXYRON (CBM 64).
WHEN?

Eastern 1996. Length is ofcourse full size: April 5th,
1996 (12.00 CET) to April 8th, 1996 (12.00 CET). That
covers 4 days of FUN and EXPERIENCE.
Where?
------
Facilities consist of a nice convention center called
"BURG SEEVETAL" and are located in the very near
surrounding of Hamburg, Germany.
You can reach it via everything. If you are going to
come by train you have to reach Hamburg Haupt-
bahnhof (main station) and take the S3 or S31 to
Harburg, where we will pick you up by the Symposium
shuttle service. Coming by plane, use the bus shuttle
service to the station Ohlsdorf, wait for the U1, get
out at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and, again, take the
S3/S31 to reach Harburg. If you arrive by ship, then
you'll have to take the U3 at Landungsbruecken to
reach the Hauptbahnhof. If you come by spaceship,
there is a big area on the other side of the Sympo-
sium convention center; please try to land it there.

COMPETITIONS?
-------------
Yes, a lot. Not only demo- and introcompetitions for
all the different computer systems and the usual mo-
dule-, multichannel and graphic competitions are in-
cluded. There will also be competitions for videodemos
next to a wild-, a coding competition (4k), and so on.
We will even hold an Acorn Archimedes/Risc PC com-
petition, if there will be enough entries present. Or a
Silicon Graphics demo competition, if more than one
entries exist .... NO LIMITS!
The prices will entirely consist of sponsored stuff,
