the testing of games for this issue
was done by a whole bunch of TRIAD
members during the 10 month covered of
the 13 since issue #15.
one was kicked out, a few left TRIAD
to join another crew and one left the
whole computer scene. most though, are
still active TRIAD members.
out of those guys, there are two who
did more than their fair share. they
deserve a special mension.

in this special issue of THE GUIDE are
games that has come to the TRIAD
swoppers since #15 and up till october
by no means are those all the versions
we got or not even all the games we
got. some paperwork has been lost, but
others were not even tested.
we have chosen to release those test
figures anyway not to waste all the
work that was done.
versions are listed in order of their
length. this was decided after voting
open to all the readers.

here are some rules we use.
separate pic, dox or other files are
not counted as part of the crack.
when pics are left in the game, this
is noted for fair comparison.
a separate highscore file is noted as
an H in the number-of-files column.
the length is included in the blocks.
added fastloader and some sort of
file-chain routine is noted.
other extras are noted separately.

your OWN business. send your votes to
one of the standard mags if you like.
if we find a version to be FAR better
we may FLASH it to make you note this.
the understanding of the game and the

make us add this rare FLASH.

WHY START AGAIN?

we start making THE GUIDE for two
reasons.
1 - people have told us how they miss
it and actually want us to get it
moving again.
2 - TRIAD needs it. it is getting
harder for us to find games to
crack to allow us to be active on
the crack scene. THE GUIDE will
allow us to stay active in some
form at least.
WHY KEEP THE OLD STYLE?
--------------------------------------
we keep the old system since it has
turned out that this is the only way
to do it in reality.
we wanted people to vote for the
best quality groups to display. we got
only a very few votes and those votes
we got were definitely NOT for any
quality groups. to 95 percent they
were for 1st release groups.
true, today some of the fast groups
make top quality as well, but those
votes still were totaly insane. in any
way, we were not prepared to work our
buts off supporting this.
WHAT ABOUT OUR REASON TO STOP?
--------------------------------------
we still don't like that some groups
started cracking for the sole reason
of getting their name advertized in
THE GUIDE. flattering for us, but not
improving the scene.
today when there are fewer games
released, there will of course be
fewer to test. then it will hopefully
be easier for us to expose the lamers.
if new crackers will appear and they
do a good job, then we will have to
recognize them and accept the
challenge from this competition.
WHAT ABOUT OUR REASON TO STOP?
--------------------------------------
we still very much disapprove of
crackers who started to use uggly
intros for the sole reason of cutting
down on the length of cracks.
at the risk of beeing impopular, we
will point out those that may appear.
hopefully the public preasure will
make them reconsider.
why not instead accept the challenge
of making fairly short intros that
also look good? the classic TRIAD
intro from feb.1987 by mr.z never adds
more than 8 blox to a crack. still it
is colorful and i think it looks good.
WHY IS THIS ISSUE # 15.5?
--------------------------------------
as you probably know, we planned to
bring out THE GUIDE several times
during 1992. because of that we kept
testing lots of games, all the time
adding games and versions.
as time went by, it became obvious
that we had to make a special issue
with almost only games in it or we
would have to throw away all that work
that had been done.
since i had a mental picture of the
come back for THE GUIDE to be a normal
issue and to be # 16, i made this one
into # 15.5. that is all.
WHAT ABOUT # 16?
--------------------------------------
issue # 16 will have 3 chapters of
games or possibly even 4. for the rest
of it, it will be a more normal issue.
as far as THE GUIDE is normal at all!
the reason for so many chapters of
games is that we still have a lot of
catching up to do. in future issues we
expect that 2 chapters will be enough.
you will have to forgive me for
spelling errors and related ones. a
good example of things one misses is
this. there was a version by HERCULES.
on the next line was one by DR.HECTOR.
i had written dr.hercules.
WHAT ABOUT # 16?

please disregard that sort of errors
since mostly people understand what
it should have read.
if your version of a game is missing
you will have to live with that. if we
have made a serious error on a version
we will be glad to publish the proper
data, but you will have to write NOW.
we are considering to let you guys
vote for some special charts of the
cracker world. crack intros w or w/o
music, cheat menues, and other stuff.
if you have a suggestion for a chart,
let us know pronto.
