  hye there...

  another month should have passed
until we would meet again, that it
is finally a bit more should not
bother anyone but the staff itself.

  considering the particular
circumstances we have been quite fast
by getting this one out ?! ahem

again you ought to have fun and earn
yet more knowledge about the present
scene, if not you may go back to
school and get ahold of the ability
  of proper reading/understanding...

in order to avoid any more
  'misunderstandings' concerning the
  monthly first-release charts in this
column, we are going to set up
completely new rules, that are that
complicated that we, but only the
staff, will understand how to use
  them the correct way.

  for those sophisticated people out
there (if there really are any), we
will try to explain the new rules
to you though, for any kind of
  questions, write/phone/meet us...

the most important fact about the
  upcoming rules is that everything
you are going to read is subjected
  to alteration without even announcing
  the modification before !

                  vs

the new rules pay regard to the
  following items :

  1) the point system

  2) the quality of the games

  3) the upload-time

...go on for the explanation about
  the new point system...

each group will get 3 points for a
  100% working first-release.

in case the game does not work
properly in any way, but a fix file
or a complete new version of the game
will be put out by the same group,
2 points will still be given for the
  release.

1 point for another group fixing the
bugged version and putting out the
other groups' import or a fix file
  as a 100% ware.

in the last case (fix by another
group) the group that had the bugged
  first-release won't get any point.

note that the euro-crack and the
  ami-import will be treated as
'one thing', that means the european
group has to suffer if the importer
group messes the release up, and the
  other way round.
that also means that the american
group and the european group will
get 3 points for a proper release
each, 2 points for a second fixed
  release etc, indifferent whose fault
  it was or why...

it is possible that there still
  occur situations that are not
covered by the rules, in that case
we will surely find a fair way to
  handle the instance.

  remember, the three boards our
  first-release charts are still based
  on are
         1) second to none
         2) the shaolin temple
         3) the forum
in case any of these boards is down
during a release, it won't be taken
  into consideration (substitution in
case of a tie : terminal obsession)

on each and every release we check
the three boards for who had the 1st
 release in 2 ways :

 1) we check the upload times of the
    wares on the 3 boards.

 2) we check for a majority of the 3
    boards.

if there's a majority but the minority
had there version up by a vast time
difference then the minority gets the
 point.

from the next issue onwards you will
find two separate charts here. one for
the real 1st releases and another for
 the lamer group releases.

we will also place any release by a
major group that we feel has lamer
group quality into the 2nd chart. this
will hopefully make the charts look
 fairer by stopping groups releasing
any bad game just for a point.

in future when they do this they will
be among the ranks of the lamer groups

ok, these charts are based on the
releases from the last mamba to
the 18th of july inclusive, check
the next pages for some additional
  notes...

  supremacy

this game has been released by
  dominators/atc first, the north
east importers put out a 'fixed'
  version shortly after, (inclusive a
5 blocks fix file a day after their
  re-released version, since that one
  did not work)

however, the game has been tested
by several neutral people from the
beginning to the very end, and since
they did not find any bugs at all,
  the point goes to dom/atc.

  tube madness

tube madness has been put out by
  action/empire and enigma/tsm the same
day. the tsm version has been
provable put out ca. 5 hours before
the empire version, but was only on
one of the boards we take into
  consideration for our charts.
  considering the enormous time
difference, we decided to give one
  point to each group.
this decision is not meant to favour
any group since both, enigma and tsm,
would retain their places in our
  charts anyway...

  professor hecti in interchange

this game was released by dominators
and nei as well as by enigma.
the nei version got on second to
none, the enigma version on the forum!
on the third board we look at,
(the shaolin temple) we found both
versions uploaded at the same time by
  the same caller.
  however, since nei have admittedly
  released their version before enigma,
  the point goes to dom/nei.

  ferrari formula 1

this game has been released by
  ics first, however, no american
group has been able to ntsc-convert
  the game...
although the game is not playable by
the americans we decided to give a
  point to ics though.

  rbi 2 baseball

the tape version of this game was
first released by i+t/tsm, the disc
version has been released by enigma/
  empire one day after.
although the disc version had more
different options in the game, the
point goes to i+t/tsm since they
  delivered the 100% tape-version of
  the game.

  heroquest

  first released by action/empire,
100% version of the action version
  delivered by nei.
due to a wrong 'jump-address' the
  action version crashes after losing
all three lifes. that bug has been
fixed by nei, thus the point goes to
  action/nei.
for those who already got the action
and empire version, you only have to
load the packed main file and change
  this : $4ac9...change the '20' into
  a '4c'

  the ball game

this game was first released by
nato and excellence as also by
  legend together with nei.

  however, the nato/excellence version
crashed at a certain point; mirage
put out the nato version aswell, and
had that bug fixed, but have been
  too late with their version.
  legend/nei won the race...

  errare humanum est

  plainly and simply forgotten have
been 'the power' by genesis and nei,
and 'j.w. compend' by illusion the
  last month...

as you might have already seen, we
credited genesis and nei this month
for the release, we did not bother
  mention that illusion ware since
the group is dead and noone will mind
  anyway.
