> MAG REVIEWS < shit! it's august, the night is fucking hot,i'm terribly bored, but i have to review some mags for sp- lash 16,damn... i can find a coup- le of better things to do but i've to sit and type, god why me? okey, after some very usual and typical mag-editor depression lets get into what i've got for this i- ssue of splash! first of all you should know t- hat i've stopped swapping so i'm quite unaware of the things going round and i also don't have any new stuff,so the mags reviewed he- re are old issues, sorry for that! so,the mags reviewed for this issue are: -moonlight 5 by gothic design and -exploding 11 by trans-x MOONLIGHT 5 when i'm writing this, there has been 40 days from the release date and they will not use this issue's outfit anymore but i've reviewed it anyway.if i see a new issue wi- th a new outfit then i can review again...so let's go now OUTFIT:after a low designed and bugging intro you get into the ma- in menu.the set out is quite well- known:a gothic logo at the top and and a moonlight logo at the bottom.the chapter names are pre- sented between them.some sprites appear at the borders and when you select the chapter name, everything fades away except for the choosen name and screen goes blank for a long period of loading, shit.that's really boring. the text screen is also very familiar.there's a moonlight logo on top and a 16 multiplexer char is dancing on it.(i remember this from a very known thing, but let's leave this).and the text upscroll under this story. when you press fire you again wait the main menu to be loaded.b o r i n g! also so- metimes the code fucked up on get- ting back to the menu, but perhaps that's because of my drive,i don't know. well, the outfit is already bor- ing and furthermore, everything ex- ept the musics were made by dudes out of gothic and this took much more points as i really don't like this kind of thing.but this is my view and they already must be usi- ng the new outfit coded by a got- hic coder.anyway, this one has qui- te low points. %40 TEXT: the text ain't that good as well.i think the editor doesn't get much help from neither readers nor the other gothic members.most of the chapters were short artic- les from the editor and the rest is the usual stuff in little amou- nts.needs more work! %60 OBJECTIVITY: there wasn't much problem with this as already there wasn't much things to comment on or so. %80 GRAPHICS: the graphics were qu- ite well drawn and colourfully pa- inted but only logos... %80 MUSIC: the main menu had the 64 version of "all that she wants" f- rom ace of base.in fact the real tune makes me puke but this conver sion was really reasonable.(64 ru- les,eh?) the text displayer's zak was also not bad anyway... %85 at the moment, moonlight is qui- te a weak mag with poor outfit and text but i think it can be impro- ved with the support of other gro- up members and with a good spread- ing.but the editor must really put more work in it and he should thi- nk of some new and original ideas. that's my view... so an overall score for moonli- gt: (40+60+80+80+85)/5 %69-5 for overall %64 EXPLODING 11 when i first saw this mag in a disk's directory,i was a bit surp- rised as it had died a pretty long time ago with the group trans-x! but now it seems that both the mag and the group are back, cool! it's really nice to see familiar names round the scene,so thanks to lone- star for all his works... now, let's go for the review: OUTFIT: after about two intro screens and the usual exploding de cruch, you finally get into the mag .there's a bad logo swinging up t- he screen and there's a 2x2 scrol- ler right under it but the charset sucks...right down, you can see the chapter names and finally some exp loding sprites. you should know that exploding is a one file mag which is quite hard to find nowadays.when you ch- oose the chapter you go through t- he pages... well, in fact the design is qu- ite okey for a one-file mag but da other details let it down... %70 TEXT: as i have told you explo- ding is a one file mag so it can never give other mags a competiti- on in text, and i really don't know how to judge it,so i can say that the amount is few,but quality is quite good.no crap talk at all.. %70 OBJECTIVITY: i think the editor commented on the things that he wasn't expected to ,so this lowers the objectivity. %60 GRAPHICS: well, the graphics are really quite poor.i can unders tand that they have to use 3 colo- ured gfx,but they really could be a lot better! %50 MUSIC: the music was totally irritating and of low quality!!! %40 well,in fact i don't know how fair is it to compare exploding with all those huge multi-filed mags but surely it needs a lot of improvement from the graphics to the musics but i hope they will not turn into a multi-filed mag as this one reminds me of old days and one filed mag has its own tas- tes.just a little work will solve a lot of problems!!! (70+70+60+50+40)/5 %58 well, that was all for the revi- ews of this issue.in fact i am re- ally thinking of changing the way i review the mags as a mag with poor outfit and text may get high points because it has nice graphi- cs and musics,or vice versa... anyway, wait until the next issue to see what will happen... finally let's check the overall mag tests... 1.immortal flash 9.........%90 2.inquiry 1................%85 .update 7.................%85 4.impulse 2................%83 5.scene observer 2.........%78 6.comic pirates 3..........%76 7.nitro 9..................%75 .tele 64 1................%75 9.newspress................%65 10.moonlight 5..............%64 11.internal 15..............%58 12.exploding 11.............%58 that's all folks! keep your ass always rocked !!! the boss/accuracy!
