here's an article that i wanted to write
already for a couple months, but for
  some reason,i never did it!!
the mainsubject of this article is
  magazines...
everybody is complaining about the big
amount of magazines, but the chance to
be in a group without a magazine is
  pretty low!!
why are there so many magazines
anyway? there are for sure some (good)
  reasons,but the main reason,i think,is
  that everybody can write text!!
  yep,it's true!! i bet,you've also
  written letters to persons!!
the only thing else you need more,is
an outfit. this aint a big problem
either,as mostly every group has a
coder and a painter! well, there you
  are... another magazine!!
now it's up to the writer to make it
  something special!!
and this is were it mostly fucks up!!
it is ofcourse required that the
writer know his english very well!!
but that's mostly not the problem...
the real problem is that the writer
does not know enough about the scene
  and the history of it!!!
also lots of "newcomers" start mags!!
  this simply can't go right!
if you start p.e. writing a bible but
you don't know who jesus is,you miss
alot!! well, the same goes for the
scene... newcomers have for sure not
  heard of "upfront" or "contex",but
these groups were the best demogroups
some years ago. without knowing the
history of the scene, you don't know
who to respect and simply write shit
about the groups, which you ought to
respect! but if you rag on an old
legend, you're mag will be quite a
disaster as everybody will be angry
  about it!! also,lots of magazines
got no original ideas, and if you got
  nothing original,you've got to write
about subjects other people also write
about!! this way, you'll end up being
  a parrot,saying everything other guys
said before you,and now your magazine
will also flop!! well, this is exactly
what's happening for atleast a year!!
and this is why people started to
  dislike magazines!! there are simply
too many mags without original things!
i know it's hard to find original
things to write about, but it's not
  impossible!! script is doing very
well, although not all the ideas are
good, many are!! and script is a top
magazine!! but what makes a magazine
even worst than lack of historical
  knowledge,is lack of what's happening
today!! you might wonder about this,
but if we see in a chart in some mags
  the following...

             graphic-artists

              1 hein design
              2 hein holt
              3 di-art
              4 orc

then i really think that the mag is
  giga lame!!!
how can hein holt be on both the 1st,
2nd and 3rd place!?! and how can orc
ever be on number 3 and 4?!?
  yep,hein holt=hein design=di-art.
  this is so fucking lame!!
is it really that hard,to know atleast
the people who're being voted for?!?
i can understand if you don't know
  everybody in the scene,as i don't know
them either, but atleast try to keep up
  with the 'elite'!
  so,before you start a magazine,keep in
mind that you need knowledge of what
has happened and on what is still
  happening! respect those who deserve
it!! it's much better to start a mag
with original ideas, than to start one
that's just like any other mag!!
if you've released the first issue, but
it didn't get the attention you hoped
for, then try to find out what's wrong!
if people say it looks just like any
other mag, better stop it,as it will
only be negative and time-wasting for
  you to continue!!
i hope you'll take good use of these
little hints to make a successfull
  magazine.
