"DEMO REVIEWS" part 3 by tch of brutal ---------------------------------------- nope!!! this is not last chapter with demoreviews for this month!! but these ones i've reviewed in here: "GRAVEYARD BLUES 2" by TOPAZ BEERLINE "ONE YEAR CAMELOT 3" by CAMELOT "BUDS DEMO" by CREST i will review 4 more but that will be printed in the last part... okay, let's start... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "GRAVEYARD BLUES 2" TOPAZ BEERLINE ---------------------------------------- the second part of the rhythmic bones are here!! this demo is for sure a very good one! let's hope that more blues will follow!! ---------------------------------------- intro:a nice hires 'topaz' logo on top of the screen. under this is a 2x1 sideborder scroller and completely down is a moving "rhythmic bones" singlecolour logo. ---------------------------------------- part1:a very cool "topaz" logo flashes onto the screen after some time it flash away. now presents flashes and disappears again. next thing is a big "grave yard blues" logo with a '2' flashing on it. also this vanishes and a big scroll comes for a short time. that's all for the part. style is ruling! ---------------------------------------- part2:a strange bu cool logo is on the screen with a cool tune. then a multicolour dypp scroll appears with different sinuses'n effects! some effects: twisting, stretching! all this happens above a water reflection. ---------------------------------------- part3:a swinging bitmap logo with a 2x2 scroll above it. on top of the screen are lots of bobs moving in a very cool sinus with 6 sprites over it. old but nice tune by jch/vibrants! ---------------------------------------- part4:a very nice topaz fli-picture with under it a 2x1 scroll. on the bottom is a socalled $d011 split, but you are fooled! with space you will toggle between the pages which flash away! the music is really cool! ---------------------------------------- part5:two rasterlines with a strange four-coloured effect! a fast 1x1 scroll gives you some text and credits!! in the right-downborder is a very nice topaz logo. ---------------------------------------- part6:the screen flashes and a nice hires topaz-logo appears. some sprites give you the credits. the maineffect is a pre-calculated 3d rotating bobscroller. under this scroller is a small scroll with the same text,so you won't miss any of the text! an old but nice drax-tune is here for some noice!! ---------------------------------------- part7:a great topaz logo isat the bottom of the screen. a 1x1 scroll above it tell you some bla bla! completely up is the great effect and it is a "rubber vector"... it looks like you are making a vanilla ice-cream... it's not centered, but who gives a fucking damn!! the music is again cool! ---------------------------------------- part8:a very nice "the end" logo is down on the screen under two raster lines. between these lines comes a very large 2x2 upscroller with several cool effects! it stretches, mirrors and whatever else is possible in lots of cool ways!! you can toggle between the effects with commodore and stop the scroll with spacebar!! the tune is very nice! ---------------------------------------- CODING by d'arc, scapegoat, caprix is rated 8.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- GRAPHICS by scapegoat,rebel,kirk,caprix,creat/padua! is rated 7.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- MUSICS by rolex, htd, guy shavitt, tbb, jch is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- DESIGN by topaz beerline is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the OVERALL is 8.1 out 10 ---------------------------------------- this demo is for sure one of the best of these months... some of the graphics were really cool, while some very a bit hmmm. this group belongs,in my opinion,in the top 10 of the demogroups as they really proof their abilities!! ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "ONE YEAR CAMELOT 3" CAMELOT ---------------------------------------- you might wonder why this, second price winning års demo,is called "1YC 3". well,as they explain in one of the scrolls... "as previous winners of parties in denmark were "THE LARCH 3" and "BRUTAL 3" we decided to call it "1YC 3"..." it didn't help as they were second, but this demo is also one of the best released recently!! ---------------------------------------- intro:some text flashes onto the screen, a cool picture gets pixelled, vanishes, more text,vanishes... now lots of 3d moving starplots are on the entire screen. this really looks like it is also done on amiga and gives a very 3d view. in the middle of the screen some text is being pixelled to give credits and other bla bla! the tune was taken from the "last ninja 3" intro. ---------------------------------------- part1:this part contains a whole screen 5x7 dypp. the colours at the side look really ugly and should not have been used,in my opinion! the tune is really cool! ---------------------------------------- part2:a big 5x5 scroller goes under a text screen. the text vanishes and now 8 sprites move over lots of moving char-rasters in various sinuses and speeds... and old but nice jeroen tel tune is playing... ---------------------------------------- part3:a small "camelot" logos swing in the upper and downer border. on top of the screen is a 1x1 scroll with bla bla. on the rest of the screen is a 128 plots realtime 3d starball, moving and bouncing. the music is strange but cool! ---------------------------------------- part4:6 vector lines with each its own colour move over eachother. they call it 'fli-lines' but it is all made with sprites!! underneath goes a big, ugly, scroll with coloursplits. the tune is old but nice. ---------------------------------------- part5:a strange "party" logo is down on the screen. a 1x1 scroll is on top of the screen and between this is a completely realtime tv-vector. you can control it with a joy! real cool music by duck larock! ---------------------------------------- part6:a cool logo (from the intropicy) on top of the screen. under this are 184 realtime bobs following a cool sinus. completely down is a textline flasher with a fantastic charset! the tune is also really nice. ---------------------------------------- part7:a coll camelot logo on top of the screen with 8,infact only 7,real rastersplits behind it,and a 14 sprite-multiplexer on top of it. in the underborder are several arrows with 8 camelot sprites over them and under them an unexpanded singlecolourscroll of 40 chars wide. the logo changes colour and some rasters move. great tune by jch... ---------------------------------------- part8:15 2x1 dycps which go really ugly (no ora and just storing different screens over eachother!). every dycp-sinus can be put in 3 ways: no slow or fast sinus. the tune is nice though! ---------------------------------------- part9:"the end". a big expanded side+downborder scroller. on the rest of the screen are 192 vertical 'amiga' rasters, with lots of cool sinuses. the maximum amount of colours is three. a cool tune is playing! ---------------------------------------- CODING by sphinx, rex, flexi, glasnost, gruzer, slammer is rated 9.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- GRAPHICS by vic, glasnost, trix, dan dare, scooby is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- MUSICS by duck larock, laxity, jch, rage, maduplec jeroen tel, reyn ouwehand, steel is rated 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- DESIGN by camelot! is rated 8.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the OVERALL is 8.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- a little note:sometimes after loading a part the screen freaks out,due to reseting the screen before loading. it had no influence on the demomarks, but it looks a bit hmmm... as you can see,the overall is 8.5 while LIGHT got 8.4 from me. but as scooby of light drew some of the best graphics in this demo,i think it's pretty fair that light won the democompetition... ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- "BUDS DEMO" CREST ---------------------------------------- this is yet the latest demo from the one-man-gang,as he calls himself! the two parts of this demo were seperate from eachother so you had to load them by yourself. ---------------------------------------- glober:before it starts, you can select 1 of the 3 musics which can be in this part with the cursor keys. with space you will activate the part which contains a pretty ugly sunset with a 1x1 scroll. on top of the screen is a cool effect: a realtime rotating earth vector!! it looks really like earth and each country looks like it originaly is! the tunes are strange, but nice and tune 2 is my favourite one! space will bring you back to the screen you had before running the part! ---------------------------------------- yugowaria:a broken flag of yugoslavia with underneath it the name of the current republic, with the capital, mainlanguage, religion and population given in the sideborder. the republics change by itself. a nice tune is playing. after space you will get into a special 'croatia 1990-1992' screen.... this is a bit hard to explain so just see it for yourself! after that has finished you will return to the screen you had before running this part. ---------------------------------------- CODING by maduplec is rated 5.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- GRAPHICS by maduplec is rated 6.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- MUSICS by maduplec is rated 7.5 out 10 ---------------------------------------- DESIGN by maduplec is rated 9.0 out 10 ---------------------------------------- the OVERALL is 6.9 out 10 ---------------------------------------- this demo was sertainly not ment to be a demonstration of coding abilities... it was mostly made to show you some special things and STYLE was most important for this demo. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- and that were all for this part... please load the last one for the final demo reviews of this issue... ---------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
