             "DEMO REVIEWS"

             by tch/brutal.

----------------------------------------
ooh man! i've reviewed so many demos
lately that i forgot how many there
  were...
well,i've written them all and they
  are splitted into 4 chapters...
  enjoy reading them!!
i'll start with the long awaited...
----------------------------------------

----------------------------------------
             "DUTCH BREEZE!"

                BLACKMAIL
----------------------------------------
finally the demo was released...
yes, after about 3 years they finally
released there demo which has been
  awaited for several years...
well,it surtenly ws worth waiting for!
but before i give my opinion about it,
i will first tell you all the parts.
----------------------------------------
intro:a little colourful 'bml' logo
      flashes onto the screen.
around it get all names printed of
      persons who helped realising this
      demo.
a fucking cool tune is playing and
while all this is shown, the drive
      is loading the next part...
----------------------------------------
part1:some plots are on the screen and
the music is playing. a cool
      "dutch breeze"-logo appears for a
short period and then flashes away
while a dragon comes flying onto
the screen. this dragon flies over
      a coastline with fabulous graphix
which are showed by a big bitmap
scroller. also some rather big and
small planets move with a slower
speed. if you are lucky, the dragon
      get shocked by the thundercloud
and turns to ashes,if you're not
lucky the dragon keeps on flying
till the end of the scroll. if it
reached the end,it will fly away.
a little moon circles once around
      the other planets and disappears,
now a pretty big "from" logo
swings on the screen and when it
      stops,the screen flashes and you
will witness a cool picture of a
      mermaid and a blackmail logo.
      the drive starts loading.
----------------------------------------
part2:this is just a loader. well..just?
      this loader contains a diagonaly
      swinging bitmap "dutch breeze"
      logo,with some other graphix too.
on top of the screen you can
      control the music,which is actualy
only 8 seconds long,to make it
      sound different in bass,rhythm,fx
and melody. you can create lots of
      cool instruments and melodies so
you won't get board while it's
      loading.when it's finished to load
      you'll have to press space.
----------------------------------------
part3:a bitmap "bml" logo is standing in
a cave with on top of the screen a
      very big and beautiful fli-scroll.
in the notorious fli-border is are
now a turning "dutch" and then a
      turning "breeze" logo.
sometimes there fall some drops of
water on the logo and sometimes
      the scroll gets interrupted for
some text. the music is really
      good...
----------------------------------------
part4:the mu-mu part.
a very cool animated cow is eating
      grass and really enjoying itself.
      sometimes it gets irritated by
      some bugs!!
the music really fits this strange
      but nice part.
      it's all,just ment as a loader as
the next part fills 205 blocks!
----------------------------------------
part5:a bitmap "bml" logo is moving in
      the side and upperborder.
      underneath this logo are some
flashing stars with from time to
time a part of an old picture-done
by several of the world's best
      artists like: dokk,r.tan,pegasus,
      r.beston and some others-moving
      on the screen.
also some of hein's pictures are
shown like a girl and his famous
      'eye'. sometimes there's a bug
      when the eye winks!!
in the downborder is a slow
      spritescroller.
the music is very relaxing and so
it is perfect to see all the
      pictures in this part.
      sometimes there appears a "dutch
breeze" logo. if you see this, the
      part is depacking some graphix.
----------------------------------------
part6:the "turn disk" part.
      "turn","disk" and "loading" are
animated in blocks and appear on
      various ways on the screen.
a very cool tune is playing again
and after space it starts loading!
----------------------------------------
part7:another graphical part,but this
time almost all graphix were done
      by HEIN DESIGN himself.
      5 fli-pictures can be toggeled
with space. if you press space, the
      current picture breaks up,pixel by
pixel in a very cool way. the next
picture appears in the same way,
      only with different sinusses.
on the bottom of the screen is a
      simple 1x1 scroller.
      the music certainly kicks ears!
run/stop will load the next part.
----------------------------------------
part8:a very hot girl is printed while
it is loading. cool music is here
to keep on some action. somehow
you can let her fingerfuck herself
but whatever i did with the joys,
      nothing happened.
----------------------------------------
part9:a very cool "the end"-logo is
      stretched in x-position onto the
      screen. some rasters appear with
between them a 256 pixel wide tech
tech routine with some nice little
graphix. the tune is sad but cool,
so it's perfect for an end part!!

----------------------------------------

             the overall is

               8.5 out 10

----------------------------------------
please note that i didn't take the old
pictures in the "ode to artists"-part
into consideration to get the rating
  of the graphix!

well, this demo was sure one of the best
styled and designed demos of all time!
i'm glad it finally got released.
this demo won the first-price at the
  silicon ltd.party in december 1991,but
  was release later...
----------------------------------------

----------------------------------------
             "TIME WASTER 2"

         'NO DEPOSIT,NO RETURN!'

                X-FACTOR
----------------------------------------
this demo was,like many others,released
  on the bonzai x-mas party.
i better get on with describing the
  parts...
----------------------------------------
intro:it all starts with a text-line
output with music. after some time
an 'xf' logo appears at the upper
left corner. some time later a
3d plotter comes with a blocky
      "demo" matrix and a flashing
      "time waster" frame.
most of the effects are connected
      with the strange music.
      later an upscroller appears with
some text and a picture of a 'pig'
      which is according to them,a
      digitised picture of kwon.
after some time the music fades
      and the real intro starts.
this intro contains a very nice
      fli-logo. some other graphix are
moving on the screen too and at
the bottom of the screen is a
      pretty big sideborder scroll with
      a very cool charset!!!
this new music is really good!
----------------------------------------
part1:12 pre-calculated fractals change
so it looks like a zoomer. the
graphix don't look too cool and
were probably done in a rush!
the music is nice but as the part
      stops by itself,you hardly hear
      anything of it.
----------------------------------------
part2:a 200 dot per frame plotter,which
      is,according to them,not the
      normal x-factor standart,but still
      pretty nice.
the frame is printed twice on the
screen se it looks pretty busy.
      there's a small text output,some
pretty nice mountains with sea and
      a pretty cool tune.
----------------------------------------
part3:a 34 sprite multiplexer over a
      nice bitmap picture,with under it
      an expanded down-border scroll.
      the music is pretty strange!
this part was just made to show
      the picture.
----------------------------------------
part4:this part starts with a 'slatanic'
logo on the screen with above it
      a changing vector object.
after some time the object dies
and now there is a realtime
      vector scroller,moving in 3d.
it looks pretty cool, though it is
      sometimes impossible to read.
also this music is strange, but it
      is also cool!
----------------------------------------
part5:another pretty cool coded part.
now it is time for the bouncing
      stretch-scroller over 40 moving
      fli-splits.
the charset is really cool and so
      is the logo!
      the music is pretty cool,again!
----------------------------------------
part6:before this part starts you can
read the 'history' of it. it says
that this part is half a year old
and that it was coded by joe,but
      finished by steve.
      well,this part contains a 40 chars
      wide non-animated single pixel
      d.y.p.p. with waterreflection!!
      it is all real time!
for the rest, the screen is filled
with only a logo, which is pretty
      nice!
the tune was done by drax.
----------------------------------------
part7:on the bottom of the screen is a
      very small,but cool xf logo.
above this is first a circle plot
      scroller,which later also starts
      to move in different sinuses.
the old hugo tune by jch is here
      for the audual help...
----------------------------------------
part8:the part starts with a nice fli
picture which start to move left
and right. then it scrolls up and
there appears text,in a cool char,
      giving credits etc,and some other
      small,but very cool graphix.
the music fits perfectly to this
      part!

----------------------------------------

             the overall is

               7.6 out 10

----------------------------------------
the best thing in this demo, was the code
for sure. maybe they should design
there demos a bit better and x-factor
will for sure belong to the top of the
  demo-groups!!!

as these reviews are pretty long you'll
now have to load another part of the
