            "CONSOLES TESTS"

in this chapter some information will be
given about some consoles and handhelds!

             SEGA MEGADRIVE

-GRAPHICS:can handle 32 colours on
 screen at once, and has a colourpalette
 of 512 colours!!
 resolution:320 x 224!

-SOUND:12 channel stereo pcm sound,
 which sounds great!

-PRICE:189,99 pounds. (but there is a
 ALTERED BEAST cartridge included!)

-SOFTWARE:the software that is available
 are mostly very good arcade conversions
 the price of a game lies around
 35 pounds!

-LAST WORD:as this is the most popular
 16-bit consoles in england, you can
 expect very much software releases!!


               SEGA MASTER

-GRAPHICS:can handle 16 colours on
 screen at once, and has a colourpalette
 of 64 colours!!
 resolution:256 x 192.

-SOUND:3 channels, and sounds fairly
 good!

-PRICE:varies from 79,99 to 129,95 pound
 as there are many extras which you can
 buy (e.g. a light-pen, 3d glasses and
 so on.)

-SOFTWARE:very good range of games,
 including some good arcade conversions!
 the price of a game lies around
 20-25 pound!

-LAST WORD:this computer is probably the
 best 8-bit console at the moment, and
 therefor it is quite popular, but there
 is a big change that the MEGADRIVE will
 overtake it!


         NINTENDO SUPER FAMICON

-GRAPHICS:can handle 256 colours on
 screen at once, and can chose these
 colours from a palette of 32768 colours
 resolution:2048 x 256.

-SOUND:a digital/pcm sound chip, which
 is beter than any other home entertain
 ment system!!

-PRICE:will probably lie around 200
 pounds, when this machine officialy
 will be released in 1992!
 price of a game will probably lie
 around the 40 pounds!

-SOFTWARE:is limited at the moment, but
 this machine is the superb for arcade
 conversions, and therefor a lot of
 releases are expected!

-LAST WORD:this could be the 'ultimate'
 concole!!


            NINTENDO GAMEBOY

-GRAPHICS:4 shades of grey.
 resolution: 160 x 144..

-SOUND:multi-channel sound through in-
 ternal speaker, stereo sound through
 the headphone!!

-PRICE:69,99 pounds (and this includes
 a TETRIS cartridge!)

-SOFTWARE:there are a lot of software
 titles around, as this was the first
 handheld computer!!
 price of a game lies around 20 25
 pounds!

LAST WORD:this is still the most
 popular handheld computer, although
 there are better ones!


               ATARI LYNX

-GRAPHIC:can handle 16 colours on screen
 at once. and has a palette of 4096
 colours.
 resolution:160 x 102.

-SOUND:4 channel stereo.

-PRICE:79,99 pounds.

-SOFTWARE:many arcade styled games.
 as this handheld is selling very good
 in the UNITED STATES, there will be
 very much games released in the future!
 price of a game lies around 30 pounds!

-LAST WORD:games are of great quality,
 and also the ability to link two
 computers together for a 2 player made
 (or more!) is great! (also the GAME BOY
 can link two computers together!)


             SEGA GAME GEAR

-GRAPHICS:can handle 16 colours on the
 screen at once, and has a palette of
 4096 colours!
 resolution:480 x 146.

-SOUND:3 stereo channels (you are able
 to use a headphone!)

-PRICE:i don't know for sure, it should
 be around 100 pounds by now!

-SOFTWARE:some great arcade conversions
 should become available!

-LAST WORD:this could be a good
 concurrent for the ATARI LYNX!!

sega have put back the launchof the GAME
GEAR back to june!!

some last news about the ATARI LYNX:
the LYNX has some new things in it, one
of em is a little device for in the car.
you now can plug you LYNX into the
lighter socket..
