long ago when we started making THE
GUIDE, we knew we would have to change
it now and again not to bore people.
we decided as a minimum to change
the intro, the swing-logo and the
music every 5 issues or preferably
more often if we could.
we have done such changes all the
time. maybe we couldn´t do it as often
as we would have prefered, but there
has never been as many as 5 issues
that looked the same.

issues 15.5, 16, 17 and 18 all had
the same swing-logo, music and intro.
time for a change again.
THIS was the ONLY reason for us to
change the logo, but naturally someone
saw a connection to the reaction in
issue # 19.
recently i was interviewed for one
of the better mags and was asked what
i think makes TRIAD different from
most groups. such a question is never
easy to answer. one sort of knows
without being able to put it into
words. now i realized one answer. --->

generally the members in TRIAD have
a maturity that is not too common.
if we think we have done something
wrong, we have no problem admitting
that. if we change our minds on how to
do things, we have no problem to admit

if that had been the case, we would
have said so.

this is the result of a dicussion we
had in TRIAD. the present standing is

pieces with a copy-right mark and when
appropriate also a trade mark classed
as a registered trademark.
once in a while a group has coded
a game that they release on their own
and doing so their highest wish is for
their game to be spread all over the
place.
they mark their piece as freeware,
pd, smileware or whatever. -->

i have been collecting games since
1986 and that means that i have picked
up games cracked in 1983 and onwards.
in all those many thousands of crax
made by many houndred groups over the
years, it is extremely rare that they
have messed with the copy-right mark.
maybe there are as few such versions
as two or three in a box with 90 disks
stuffed with games.
there seem to be an unwritten law of
honour not to mess with the games like
that, but admittedly this is also a
part of "YOU CAN´T TOUCH ME"! -->

for some strange reason the same law
of honour doesn´t seem to apply to the
games done by the groups on the scene
and released to be freely spread.
the latest example of this is the
hockey simulation KARAMALZ CUP. this
game is FREEWARE.
RED SECTOR removed the whole page
where the credits were given for the
game and where it said that the game
is FREEWARE and may be freely spread.
F4CG removed the words about -->

the game being FREEWARE.
F4CG made a sort of translation of
the game and spread it as an original.
the groups who got this "original"
naturally had no way of knowing that
they were working with a game that is
totally free to copy and spread.
as i see it, removing the credits
for making a game and that it is free
to be copied and spread can only be
classified in one way:

subject, namely translating it into
english, the universal language for
computerists.
both F4CG and RSI have translated
the game.
sort of translated it!
none of them did a complete transla-
tion. none of them know much about
ice hockey. both of them obviously
didn´t understand one part of the
original instructions. RSI left it -->

if this part.
when translating from one language
to another, it is important not only
to translate, but also to use the
proper words used by those who speak
that language.
ice hockey originated in canada and
thus english is the proper language.
everything else is translated.
thus translating the instructions
for KARAMALZ CUP is a bad job unless
the proper words are used. -->

icing, slap shot, roughing and so on
and not the weird translations made by
F4CG and RSI.
true enough, a canadian hockey fan
would understand it anyway, but a
translation should be properly done
never the less.
another recent example is the game
HANS KLOSS from poland or KAPITÄN
KLOSS as is the name of the old tv-
series behind this game. the only
original i have seen so far is a
version that was translated by HAIN.

naturally it is nice of him to
translate it and spread the original,
but it had been a good deal nicer if
he had done a proper job.
as it was, the text inside the game
was not translated. there is a list of
specifications of the v1-bomb and a
speach at the end of the completed
game that were not translated among
other things.
i am sure that a lot of you think
that i am only trying to make myself
important. NOT! there is a heck of a
lot more to it than that. ---->

i claim that we are talking about
the survival of the scene and THAT
should be important to ALL of us.
of course a lot of the games can be
played even if we don´t understand all
the words that appear on the screen,
but that is not what is important here
if we all stick to ONE language that
we can use to communicate, there is a
far greater chance that we can keep
the 64 scene living. it will never
last if people stick to their own
language and form smaller cliques.

yet another ex TWILIGHT member
followed the others into TRIAD. he
is RAVE and he is a swopper.

new members, JOHAN, desided to leave

this has been pending for some time,
but when he was offered to join
TRIAD he couldn´t resist to have a
dream fullfilled. now reality has
caught up with him and he leaves
computing.

ROY of MAYHEM has changed his handle

REBEL left ILLUSION at the end of
july to join LEGEND. this came after

with BRETT, the PURGATORY sysop. it is
rumoured that some others may also
leave the group, but this is still

the first game to appear in the U.K.
since may 4th, was released on august

PHOENIX SOFTWARE and marketed by a new
company PSYTRONIK SOFTWARE, a branch
of the PD company BINARY ZONE.
they are hoping to market in the
future quite a lot of budgetgames done
by freelance programmers on the 64. ->

latest game JURASSIC PARK. it will not
be finished until october at least.
this scotches all rumours that LEGEND
have had this game for over one week
now awaiting cracking and fixing.

GRAND PRIX and SUBURBAN COMANDO have
all had their release dates put back
yet again. in fact the GRAND PRIX game
may never appear on the 64 according
to GREMLIN GRAPHICS.
