New page

<pre>Tha Biz-mix

Yohoo, and welcome to the last edition of Tha Biz-mix
in Skyhigh. As you might have noticed by now, then
this is the final issue of my magazine. Why, you ask!
Well read on, and you'll get the answer!!

In the last couple of months I have been going thru'
a lot of things. First of all my girl and me have moved
place. We sold our house and bought a flat instead.
The problem was that we had to be out of the house
on March 1st. and we couldn't move into our flat be-
fore April 1st. So suddenly we didn't have a place to
stay. Lucky for us we were offered to stay in a sum-
mer house in that period. But damn it was a bad time
to live there; it was winter and it was fucking cold.
But hey atleast we had a place to stay - right!
Anyway I did bring my C64 out there, but to tell you
the truth I couldn't really find time nor interesst for
the good old breadcase. I couldn't really manage to
work on Skyhigh while living in a cardboard box! Damn
you know how disturbing it is when your stuff is lay-
ing around in bags and boxes, and you can't find what
you really need.. So I gave up!
Well we moved into our flat, and I had plenty to do.
Unpacking, painting, decorating you name it! Time went
on, and I still hadn't unpacked my C64.. Eventually I
got so far as to unpack my C64, my floppies and the
most used disx. (The rest is still in a big cardboard-
box!!). Suddenly I realised that I didn't really had the
feeling for it anymore. I still love to write my texts,
but all the slave job with the packing/crunching and
all the corrosponding with various people just to get
the stuff in time started to get on my nerves!! (Read
the interview that Mitch did with me in this issue!!!)

Another thing that made me stop up and wondering
whether I really wanted to continue or not, was the
fact, that I really didn't feel like I had more to achi
eve with my magazine. As I released my first issue of
Skyhigh back in January 1993, it was my dream to be
the number one mag in the scene. And as far as I can
see then I actually did that!
See it is always good to have some ideas, some vi-
sions in your life. I had fulfilled my dream, and it was
time to set some new goals. But do you know how hard
that is???? I don't want to brag, but I had reached
my goal, and then what?! When you are that far it is
fucking hard to keep on having inspiration for further
issues! I was simply stocked!!
The fact is that SKYHIGH hold the 1st position for
almost 1.5 year! And believe me fighting to get on the
top and fighting to stay on top is two very different
things! I have tried both so I know what I am talking
about. It wasn't really the expectations from the
readers, coz I don't feel it was a problem to keep 'em
satisfied, it was more of a personal matter I guess!!
It was more like : I have reached my destination, what
now?

The answer to this is quite clear to me:

It's time to set a new destination..

So combined with all the hard work, and the loss of
inspiration I came to the conclusion that it was about
time to stop Skyhigh. I don't want to see my mag dive
just because I don't have more goals to reach. No
then it is much better to stop it, and perhaps start
up new projects! So as from this issue Skyhigh is no
longer. To put it straight:

SKYHIGH IS DEAD
SKYHIGH IS DEAD

So to all of you out there, please stop voting for
Skyhigh anymore. And to all mag-editors: please re-
move Skyhigh from the charts!! Thank you!!

So what is my future plans? Hmm, I don't really know.
One thing is sure, I will NOT quit the C64!!!!!
I have some plans about writing on a freelance basis,
and for a new magazine which will be of a quite diffe-
rent kind as seen before (more specialized!!). Further
more then I want to start a bit on the PC aswell. And
finally I am trying to organize the Camelot posse! So
I have enough to do in the future. Just be sure that
I will stay in the scene!!! I will just play some other
roles.

--------------------------------------------

I would like to thank everybody out there for the
massive support I have been given the last 3.5 years.
Without you it couldn't have happend.

I would also like to thank all the gfx'ers, composers
and coders who've contributed to Skyhigh along the
way. I really appriciated your help.

At last I would like to shout out a giant yohoooo to
all my co-editors!! You have all done a brilliant job
for me and for Skyhigh. I know that we will stay in
contact in the future. Who knows, maybe we will work
together on other projetcs as well!

The very final greeting must go to my groupmate and
very good friend RAZ. You did it Rasmus!! You showed
the scene what an outfit should look like!
A lot of people said it couldn't be done, but it could!
The worlds first C64 magazine with proportional up-
scroll. A feather in your hat, if you ask me!!

--------------------------------------------

To all my fellow colleagues out there I would pass
on the mic. It is now your turn to show the world what
the art of C64 magazines is all about! If any of you
would be interested in a chapter sometime don't he-
sitate contacting me! Good luck in the future!

--------------------------------------------

An era has passed. The light is dimmed and it is time
to say goodbye. I am sure I will miss this, but I have
made up my mind! It sure is a sad moment, but don't
worry I will be back with other projects; other mags
which we will lead to the top!
The question remains: what will the mag-charts look
like without "Skyhigh - the next generation".

Bye for now.
