MAD'S SUPERSEXY DEMO REVIEWS
MAD'S SUPERSEXY DEMO REVIEWS
---------------------------------------------

Apart from the fact that VERY little has been going
on in the C64 scene recently, MAD is here to bring
that extra sunshine into your lives...

Not much this month, next month I will bring you the
reviews of (hopefully) masses of demos released at
the X95 party in the Netherlands.
Demos reviewed here: Kloakkman/Megastyle Prod.
and Revolution/Chorus!

But for now, a review of Kloakkman from MEGASTYLE
PRODUCTIONS...

Coders responsible: SCROLL
Artists responsible: BROOZ
SPARKLER
SPACEROY

Musicians responsible: RAGE
LIZARD
SCROLL
SPACEROY

This demo features:-

- Digitised Interlace Pic
- Notepart
- 'Fli' scroll and bitmap swing
- GigaDYCP over picture
- RGB Raster and large bitmap scroller
- Bloody large scroll text ($1dcbb in one load!!!).

The Demo:

Nice bits include the notepart (random chars falling
back to the bottom in a upscroll(simple I know)).
The raster colours in the RGB are quite yummy also,
and the way the 'title' pic is drawn up (vertically
through the bottom border) is nice.
The demo loads part by part (black screen loader).
Very little design.

The Code:

The entire demo was coded by Scroll (a damn fine
coder in anyone's opinion). Unfortunately, the parts
are old, or simply out dated. The 'fli' scroll isn't,
(it is however unreadable when they both are on!).

The Graphics:

The best graphics (in the FliScroll part) are by the
one and only Sparkler, but these are old also... The
new graphics (and the fonts) are not that good, the
bitmap scroll font in the RGB part is really poor...

The Music:

Good music (in places) by Rage BUT... it's OLD!!!

Overall:

Some of the parts look nice (the notepart and the
'fliscroll' part (due to Sparkler's sparkle). No real
design though, and no where near the quality of the
last Megastyle release (Digital Messiah). But then
the majority have left the group anyway.

LISTEN UP: If you are Norwegian and good at anything
on the C64, do yourself a favour, and join up with
these guys to make them the great group they once
were!
Scroll is capable of alot better!

And now, REVOLUTION by CHORUS-

Coders responsible: Clarence
Artists responsible: Ollie
Oszi
Clarence
Cresh
Gryf/Elysium
Rob/Camelot
Musicians responsible: Peet
Shogoon/Taboo

The demo features:-

- Perspective scroll (?)
- Raytracing and Hidden Vectors
- Zooming glenzed squares (split by logo)
- Ora'ed DYCP record
- FULLscreen chessboard zoomer
- Halfscreen zoomer (in side and lower borders)
- ECI/RGB raster in screen and top border
- zooming and rotating '64 Kix' logo
- Lightsourced scroller
- 600xy dot plotter (50 frames a sec)
- Multicol charsplits and overlayed chars (?)
- SIDEBORDER HEAVEN!!!

The Demo:

Nice to see that these guys didn't quit the C64!
REVOLUTION oozes design, everything fades on and
off (usually in a cool and unusual way), and although
it isn't really a trackmo, it sure feels like one!
The above mentioned things don't even touch the
surface of this demo, there are so many little things
to see (the cool way the first Chorus logo is drawn,
the spinning star, the Jurassic loader etc!!!)
Also, top marks for including a seperate part loader!

The Code:

Clarence coded the demo, and so a big applause to
him for some very fine work indeed. Everything is
smooth, the next to last part (Borders obviously
don't mean anything to Clarence) is really amazing -
Full height logo, tech (and rastered) char upscroll
and fullscreen of dots - all in all borders!!! YUM!!!)
One gripe I have is in the DYCP part - UNREADABLE!!! -
Couldn't we have had a ON/OFF switch for each line?

The Graphics:

Well above average. Alot of nice logos, fonts and
pictures (the hires pic by Gryf/Elysium is really nice)
and none that look bad. The end logo (by Rob/Cml) is
very very fine indeed.
I always say that good graphics make a good demo,
and the artists in Chorus (and guests) have made
sure of that.
(p.s. Hi Cresh! Sorry for the delay!)

The Music:

Again, a very high standard. Peet composing all but
one tune, has done an excellent job. It is also good
to see (or should I say hear) that a composer can
master a variety of styles in one demo. I noticed
that Grabowsky/Graffity's player, and a similar
sounding one was used, both made clicking sounds on
the old C64's (don't apologise for Peet using them,
Clarence, if people don't like it they can FUCK off!!!).

Overall:

I think you readers can guess that I am impressed
with this work. May Chrous live high in the charts for
this...

And so, the end of another chapter of reviews...

This is MAD/PAdUA saying

'GOD IS EVIL, SEX IS HEAVENLY'
GOD IS EVIL, SEX IS HEAVENLY

Until next time...
