Dear world,

Normally I would say that we are the
best staff in the world presenting the
best magazine in the world, but I can't.
RELAX already declared on their homepage
that they are the leading magazine since
1996. So be it. Instead, what you're
reading is a magazine put together by
the most 64-addicted staff there is. And
we're trying our best to do the best
magazine we can.

A normal day at the PROPAGANDA OFFICE
is not that much different from a normal
magazine. COUNT ZERO always shows up
early in the morning to check all the
releases done over night. He is a god-
damn machine if you ask me. I don't know
but it feels like a typically German
touch. He works, he edits, he sticks to
the rules and always delivers his work
on time. He comes to the office early
in the morning and leaves late after
the other edtitors. When I show up at
nine, COUNT ZERO runs into my room as
I sink down into my chair. He is always
speaking rapidly about the night's re-
leases, so excited he's always spilling
coffee on the floor from the cup in his
hand. Points are his life.

DUKE'S office is next to mine. It is
handy that way. We can easily run into
each others room and exchange ideas.
He is rather new to the staff and comes
from one of our old competitors - THE
PULSE. The other editors were rather su-
spicious when he started at our office
which is probably why they always let
him be the victim of all cruel practical
jokes. A normal day there will be salt
poured in his coffeemug, chapters scr-
atchded from his disks and strange mes-
sages arriving in his mail. Lucky for
us, DUKE isn't really the hostile type.
He knows our past and plays along. DUKE
always shows up late to work. He has
been talking about working with a script
for a movie in his sparetime but I could
not care less. We hired him for his cha-

pters here at PROPAGANDA, not a movie
for Pete's sake!

And then there's WALKER - an odd fellow,
I can tell you that. He collects disks
at his office, in masses! He even has
demos and games sorted out by groupname
-alphabetic order too! And every morning
when Postman Pat shows up with today's
mail he receives another set of disks
and a whole set of votesheets. As the
Postman Pat leaves, WALKER closes his
door and we all know we won't see for
the next 1O hours. All we can hear from
behind his closed doors are mumbl-
ing, giggling and counting. Making the
list is something he really loves, but
yes, he is one odd fellow.

A new guy showed up at our office the
other day. He hadn't called for an ap-
ointment with any of us but demanded to
our secretary TRANZIIE that he needed to
talk to any of us. Fortunately, I had
some time left that day and asked him
to be sent in.

"I'M A THINKER", he said as he shook
my hand.

I couldn't help smiling. Was this rea-
lly MIDFIT from LEGEND looking for a
job? I believe it was.

"QUESTION IS, DEAR MIDFIT, CAN YOU
WRITE?", I replied.

"HELL YEAH, I CAN!", he responded
proudly.

"VERY WELL, YOU'RE HIRED. YOUR FIRST
JOB WILL BE IN PROPAGANDA 25. YOU WILL
BE WORKING WITH YOUR VIEW OF THE INTER-
NET.", I finished off the conversation
and asked our secretary to show MIDFIT
to his new office. He'd now be sharing
offices with JACK DANIELS, our second
thinker on the magazine. It has always
been exciting for us other editors to
go into their room and listen to their
philosophies about the scene. Most of
the time they'd get so carried away that
they'd forget to write their thoughts
down. What they don't know is that
we're recording their conversations on
tape only to publish them in the mag-

azine. 8-BIT THOUGHTS might be a suiting
name for the chapter. It sort of grasps
the totality of the concept.

Every now and then we have a meeting in
our conference-room but we don't get
that much done. COUNT ZERO babbles ab-
out what group should be given points
while DUKE mostly throws a joke at him.
It really takes the edge of any serious
conversation having him around, for
better or for worse! There is a lot of
other people running around in the buil-
ding all of the time, but they are so
many that it is hard to keep track of
them. There are coders, spreaders, free-
lancers and a lot of people who all do
a good job. And then there's always the
cleaninglady, a nice old woman who rea-
lly does a good job cleaning up our

mess. But I suspect she's spying on us.
I heard her talking to RRR on the phone
the other day.

That might be the reason he spent
another 14 chapters about us and who
said what at what time. I never got
around to read the latest articles my-
self but it sounds like a waste of cap-
acity to me. In the meantime DUKE, COUNT
ZERO, MIDFIT, JACK DANIELS, TRANZIIE,
WALKER and I will try focus on making
the best magazine we can. After all,
that's what the readers want.
