ALPHA FLIGHT have put their most succ-
essful year ever behind. What we saw was
an impressive set of software speak for
the groups devotion towards the Commo-
dore 64, even though they at times fail-
ed to live up to standards. The only em-
barassing re-release of SPEEDKING was
very much in the spotlight, and as ALPHA
FLIGHT simultaneously announced them-
selves to be number one in the world,
several people shook their heads in this
brave, ignorant move. CENTRIC, DENIFIA,
DAVE SPEED among other games belonged to
the best titles in the world (CENTRIC

was awarded game of the year in the
annual PROPAGANDA-AWARDS 1996) during
this year. Coming from the ALPHA FLIGHT
releasing-squad, one can only hope they
are still proud at the effort.

POL POT NOT INVESTING IN HIS BOARD.
________________________________________
One of the few older systems left, HOLI-
DAY IN CAMBODIA was taken offline due to
a severe crash of the harddrive. Sysop
and owner POL POT declares he has no
interest in investing more money in the
Commodore 64 and will not be putting the
board online unless anybody decides to
support him. HOLIDAY IN CAMBODIA is a
board that has been around since the
mid 8O's, but was not an elite-frequent-
ed system until ARCADE picked it up in

1992. Since then it has been hoasted by
a few groups as well as running an ind-
ependent flag. An epic is likely to be
buried.

TWO EUROPEAN BOARDS LEFT.
________________________________________
For the first time in years, ALPHA
FLIGHT is actually boardless stateside.
Two European boards located in Germany
and Sweden shows there in an interest
not only in the Internet. THE EVIL IS-
LAND, sysopped by the now inactive THE
ANCIENT MARINER is not likely to con-
tinue on the American frontier either.

PROFILE ON THE NET.

The staff is on rotation in the group.
MAX, one of the leading profiles was put
on the inactive basis while net-people
like MAD HATTER have come in to stren-
gthen positions where neeeded. ZAPOTEK
and CHOITAIRE continue to profile the
organization on the Internet, where they
estimate to have growing impact over the
coming year.

DELAYED LEGAL WORKS.

Like many of the illegal groups today,
ALPHA FLIGHT have investments placed in
the legal sector. We were promised to

see the first results of many hours of
hard work in Denmark, at the annual and
now demised Christmasparty-tradition,
but ALPHA FLIGHT have delayed their
first production. According to the
group, the first demo should be finished
for release during the first quarter of
1997.

CHROMANCE are silently becoming one of
the oldest non-stop operations in the
field. Closing of the year successfully,
they have rushed ahead of technology,
maintaining one FTP and 2 baords. Their
3rd, only European board WESTPOINT was
taken down on January 1st, 1997.

INVESTMENTS IN THE USA.

CHROMANCE have chosen to go the opposite
way. While most groups are, unwillingly
or not, vanishing from the states, with

disconnected boards as a result, CHROM-
ANCE have boosted their system and act-
ually done investments for their ancient
system EDGE OF MIDNIGHT. Providing the
board with a 2OMHz-card from CMD INC.,
EDGE OF MIDNIGHT is not only the oldest
board, but also the fastest. One can
wonder what they would need a second
board for, but fact remains the the much
debated THE FINAL GENOCIDE is now also
running under the CHROMANCE-label.

UPSIDE DOWN TURNED INSIDE OUT.
________________________________________
UPSIDE DOWN from FATUM was a game that
started a controversial debate in the
fall of 1996. F4CG firstreleased the
game, while CHROMANCE followed quickly
with what they refered to as the full

version. A former FATUM-member commented
the issue on the IRC.

LIKED FACE BACK IN BUSINESS.

One of the most liked faces from the
boards during 92-93 has made a notable

comeback in CHROMANCE. It has been long,
but German profile ROUGH is actually
participating in illegal works and will
most probably start NTSC-fixing as he
obtains the appropriate machinery for
the purpose. Also MACX and ZAKK, Swedish
dedications in disguise, have increased
the effiency of the once so Hungarian
crew.

The last quarter of 1996 was one of the
most silent ones in the history of the
group. 14 years and running, the group
is finally recharging arms to make 1997
a memorable one, for both themselves and
the scene. The canceallation of TRIBUTE
was a loss of both prestige and faith,
as well as the quick recruitment and
loss of HOLIDAY IN CAMBODIA. 1997 means
climbing back up the hill, and plans
speak of an exciting spring. SOLAR fin-
ally launching an awaited issue of the
paper-fame PIRATES may very well be.

CHANGES IN THE ORGANIZATION.
________________________________________
F4CG have been soldering an otherwise
smooth organization over the past per-
iod. JACK ALIEN and CUPID have both
decided to test their luck in HITMEN,
and with that only INTRUDER and JACK
DANIELS remain as active parts from
AVANTGARDE in F4CG. DEFF, who has been
increasing his efforts at BMG and the
new baby is now an inactive member of
the group, where he will remain with
other heroes. F4CG will most probably
not recruit any more people to fill
possible holes, but increase effiency
in the active status, says SOLAR to
PROPAGANDA.

MORE COLLECTIONS BEING RELEASED.
________________________________________
ZYRON released his music-collection
on Christmas-eve, and will follow short-
ly with a second one. Increasing the
amount of collections, the new artist
that was picked up from the dead and
buried NOICE, STASI will follow with
a graphics-collection. The collection
will feature heaps of work done over
the year and will be coded by hotshot
coder GOZ, also responsible for the
STAR-BIZARRE-intro, among others.

WALKER BACK IN THE REAL ARMY.

WALKER, one of the older swappers in

the field is finally back from his stay
in the army, and his deeds for the group
will be picked up early 1997. SIXX, who
replaced him during his absense will
cease distribtion-activities on a large
basis, to continue with only some. SIXX
will instead focus on Internal affairs
and the Internet.

TOP-3 ON THE MACINTOSH.
________________________________________
F4CG MACINTOSH is now a top-3 concept.
Run by SONIC WURST from Canada, the
Mac-division is working quite closely
with PC-group HYBRID. To stay as close
to the roots as possible, only SID-mus-
ic is used in the intros, and of course
you have to press space - not the mouse-
button when proceeding.

With almost 2 years and running, the
reunion of HITMEN has grown into a mat-
ure organization with a strong situation
on the market. They are continously up-
dating their structure and focusing on
new sides of the business. Their con-
tribution to the demoworld is admirable
and even though many would not regard
CUCUMBER JUICE 2 as the most stunning
piece of code ever done, it is a trem-
endous effort presented in classy,
old-school style. According to TRANZIIE,
there should be a 3rd released in 1997.

NEW OFFICIAL LEADERSHIP.
________________________________________
JIHAD and CURLIN have declared not to be
particulary interested in the future of
the Commodore 64. Instead they have dr-
eams and ambitions to work on the SONY
PLAYSTATION and PC on several levels.
Piracy is of course an evident factor,
but also the legal sector attracts.
Somehow, it is a punch in the fact for
the market who have seen HITMEN as one
of the most active groups over the past
year. According to TRANZIIE, mediapro-
file in the group "BOTH JIHAD AND CURLIN
HAVE NOT REALLY BEEN DOING ANYTHING FOR
THE 64-DIVISION FOR SO LONG, THERE WILL
NOT BE A DIFFERENCE ANYWAY". The offic-
ial leadership has been passed on to

GROEPAZ, even though has been managing
the group for a long time. It has also
been suggested that many of the cracks
by CURLIN, were in fact done by him.

SPICE IN THE LEGAL SECTOR.

Continuing the success of legal works,
HITMEN expand their staff in the creat-
ive area. CUPID follows from F4CG, a
group where his talent did not quite
get a chance for maximum exposure, un-
like commented in the RELAX MAGAZINE.
CHAOTIC, talent from one the absolutely
most popular demogroups right now -
SMASH DESIGNS, followed shortly and will
be part of HITMEN as a second group.

JACK ALIEN JOINS HITMEN.

JACK ALIEN, who has been one of the
most popular crackers in the world over
the years left his activities in F4CG
the german HITMEN.

THE MYSTICAL PARADISE, the number-one
board in Europe, awarded BOARD OF THE
YEAR in the annual PROPAGANDA AWARDS,
was formatted. It is unclear who actu-
ally has hostility towards HITMEN or
PEACEMAKER, who runs the board. The
board was fortunately up and running
quickly, without any valuable losses.
Recently, HITMEN have once again started
their crusade in setting up toll-frees,
and most likely we will see THE DUNGEON,
their American board, run for the
number-one-spot. Well deserved, that
is.

CROSSFIRE and his gangsters have entered
a terribly slow period, and fact is, we
have not seen any signs of how the futu-
re for the group will be. A demo should
however be in the works. The dull re-
lease of "WABBIT PRV." set a statement
that "WE'LL RETURN", which leaves room
for speculation what 1997 will bring.
Even though of various quality, fact is
that no group released more software in
1996, than MOTIV8.

THE FIRST MAILINGLIST ON THE NET.
________________________________________
The bravest attempt to tame the powers
of the Internet was done when MOTIV8
launched a mailinglist. At PROPAGANDA
were please to think we would finally
get a communication-substitute to the
boards, but support has been vague so
far. Instead of becoming an effective
channel, someone is actually making his
way to release techno-tracks for the PC
on it. So much for the devotion on the
64, ehrm. MOTIV8 have been big pioneers
in the Internet-field, with effective
distribution and good presence, but have
not been quite as obvious the past
months. Let us all hope it is just a
moment of weakness.

1996 was nothing but great for the coop-
earation. Devotion is not mistaken, and
the mere fact that CBA and NIGHTSHADE
live under the same roof, can only come
out successful in the end (babyboom).
BURGLAR is far from tracked by his col-
lapse at X96 and is still, unlike most
others in his profession, perfecting the
art of cracking. His version of DORIS
premiered a new routine, taking advant-
age of the REU. It is good to see some-
body is still developing skills and try-
ing to set new standards in the field.

Almost not needed, because there is no
more obvious event this year, TRC*SCS
have finally launched the official inv-
itation to their party in Holland. April
4th-6th this year should be written down
in all your calendars. The party is not
quite the same this year, but will be
bigger, longer and better. With new
arrangements, the party will seriously
compete with SYPOSIUM in Germany, also
running during April. F4CG SWEDEN are
even arranging a bus all the way from
Sweden, bringing along as many as 5O
devoted 64-sceners. We will be playing
poker again!

CAREFUL ON OVERSEAS COMMUNICATION.

TRC*SCS are active both on the net- and
board-frontier. Since NIGHTSHADE receiv-
ed a suspectful phonecall from DUTCH
PTT-TELECOM last year, they have however
been a bit more careful with calling
overseas. THE DIGITAL DUNGEON is still
the number-one FTP in the world, with
little competition really, and their
precense is noted on the IRC on a daily
basis. "DID YOU KNOW THAT 50 MEGS ARE
LEECHED FROM DIGITAL DUNGEON EVERY DAY?"
asks a proud BURGLAR in a scrolltext.
So be it.

* ONSLAUGHT have managed to get one of
bigger profiles from the early 9O's to
call out under their label. STING has a
past in GENSIS*PROJECT, ARCADE and IKARI
+TALENT among other brands. It it is yet
unclear what he will be doing for the
otherwise quite silent ONSLAUGHT.

* The new group was announced shortly
after SKINHEAD/ALPHA FLIGHT talked cur-
iosly about it on the IRC. ENDLESS PIR-
ACY is a constillation with people from
various groups, mainly ACRISE+EXCESS.
The ENDLESS PIRACY-concept was launched

by SKINHEAD and SKID ROW several years
ago, before the ALPHA FLIGHT-reunion.
SKINHEAD is not a member of the new
group.

* STRIDER is not happy the way FAIRLIGHT
has turned out on the Commodore 64. 35
active (according to themselves) members
and a not a single decent production in
2 years. In desperation, the group has
created FAIRY LIGHT, a gamelabel re-
leasing TRON'S old gameprojects. A long
awaited successor to their previous
demos is not likely to ever appear.
Maybe STRIDER was right back in 1989.
