AVANTGARDE, a name that started giving
people the shivers as soon as they set
up their systems and performed various
tasks that stunned us. Today, we've
come to depend on the group, and they
have gained incredible popularity and
response throughout the entire scene,
being one of the most valuable groups
today. However, this autumn has seen to
it AVANTGARDE had to let go some of the
intensity they so gladly flourished in
before. Many people fear it has been a
sign of weakness, a lack of interest,

but indeed it is not. Various factors
have seen to it, to put AVANTGARDE on
slight decline. However, in my eyes,
AVANTGARDE is neither resting our
falling behind. While you are stuck
in a chapter of the latest PROPAGANDA,
AVANTGARDE are getting ready for round
two, a round that will be followed with
great excitement from all spectators.
We are on frontrow and expect the best.

It was inevitable, but the core and the
concept of the organization, being DEFF
had to face the fact that he had the
final exams coming up mid November, and

indeed that has been good enough reason
to put AVANTGARDE slightly on hold on
the priority list. Furthermore, the
group has been involved in another ad-
mirable event and effort, TRIBUTE, a
concept realized along with GENESIS
PROJECT that saw to it members had to
work on more complex tasks beyond the
normal habitual efforts.

Having had two of the finest systems of
all times, being THE FORUM and TERMINAL
OBSESSION, it has affected AVANTGARDE in
an unfortunate way. The beloved PUDWERX,
sysop of THE FORUM and official fixer

for the group also did his share of
affecting the group. Without the boards
and PUDWERX, AVANTGARDE had to face and
deal with a peculiar situation that
meant decreased abilities in releasing,
communicating and organizing. In my
eyes, few groups that have gone through
a similar phase have done it as good as
AVANTGARDE. They have indeed managed
with dignity to keep up their battle-
tank of efforts scenewise, and with
round two, just a few blocks away, I'm
positive AVANTGARDE will rise to the
standards they once set up.

And believe me, with cards slowly
picking up again, and a German blue box
that seems to work, time will tales.

STEVE LEAVES FOR THE YANKSI
STEVE LEAVES FOR THE YANKS.

STEVE announced an astonishing parti-
cipation in the scene once he returned,
from the grave where he'd spent time
with his legendary ZENITH-concept. STEVE
saw to it to place the word "Activity"
back on trial, doing it all for the
entire AVANTGARDE.

Today STEVE has involved himself in a
definate joy of life; love. Late Dec-
ember he will move to the USA, marry
his becoming wife and live happily ever
after. We here at the PROPAGANDA-staff
wipe a few tears of hapiness and wish
him all the best in life, still hoping

for more astonishing performances scene-
wise. But fear not. STEVE has seriously
been considering setting up a board for
the group in the states, and will most
definately continue his success on the
8-bitter, only now he'll be doing it as
a fixer. Looking on this, we slowly
realize this may very well be the
solution to many of the problems that
have occured lately.

AVANTGARDE made professional public
relation stunts when announcing their
first Judgement day way back in time.
A day that brought many smiles to faces

that usually would be sobbing and sigh-
ing about the development on the 64 of
today. The Judgement Day was an enormous
success, where two systems were set up,
new members were announced and releases
were made. As of today, The Judgement
Day still brings happy memories.

A second Judgement Day might very well
be coming. STEVE, if anyone can provide
with a minor shock if putting up his
board, but also the long lost DREAMPARK
is said to be ready for launch again.
It has also been rumoured that other
old boards along with new ones will see
light of day, and as for TERMINAL
OBSESSION, there is still great chance
of seeing it, once again.

AVANTGARDE also work on the concept of
a European fixer, so far unknown to the
crowds in the scene, and we in the staff
at PROPAGANDA guard this event with
particular interest. A fixer with Euro-
pean roots can easily trigger a series
of important moves that will affect the
results.

What we can do at this point, is only
watch and listen to the rumours. Much
has been said, but before the story ends
a lot will be told. It may very well
be the, that the recent additions to
the list, two megaswappers, INTRUDER
and NASTINESS INC, are the prepar-
ations for what we all want see;
Judgement Day 2 - The Second Coming.

ALPHA FLIGHT arrived pretty much with-
out the support from the crowds. They
came on stage and performed a few stunts
that drew attention, but still there was
much doubt about the group, its future
and its potential. Today, many people
bow their heads and admit the fact that
ALPHA FLIGHT have seen to it to place
themselves on the map of glorious per-
formances, all 8-bitwise. The concept
was simple, straight and easy; release,
and do not mind or bother about the
people talking.

It might have been the decline from
AVANTGARDE in Germany that made ALPHA
FLIGHT take on the attempt of switching
into top gear. However, the additions
from MOTIV8, once active under CROSS-
FIRE'S watching hand, resulted in some
highly valuable members that were able
to provide the group in a positive way.

ALPHA FLIGHT have done miracles. ALPHA
FLIGHT have caused irritation. The last
few months have, no matter how one looks
upon it, been glorious. Being one of
the few groups today calling out on a
regular basis, and with MANY frequent

members on the boards, ALPHA FLIGHT have
managed to keep up a releasing phase
that have made most others look pale.
They also prove the fact, that with two
boards, and with the possibilities to
call them, a group functions without
major hazzle.

Mailwise, they have chosen not to ignore
the hungry crowds, but to support them
with a constant flow of mail-cracks.
The addition of CALYPSO, announced first
by PROPAGANDA last month, by many con-
sidered as the scenes most competive
and qualified swapper, helped a great
deal, and we hope for this concept to
last a lifetime. Only thing is, the
scene doesn't last a lifetime.

After many delays and the highest of
expectations, RELAX was finally launched
and proved a very potential product. Not
only did they skillfully take on the job
from where the now dead and buried PULSE
left of, but they did so in class and
style.

With the impact ALPHA FLIGHT have on
today's market, we may have a new
standard, and indeed it is a welcome
standard, since THE PULSE took so much
of what it reflected and represented
with it, to 8-bit-heaven. Another
issue is in the works, and we wait

impatiently for the result.

The question now is, will the tale last?
If AVANTGARDE switch into top gear, and
their potential Judgement Day 2 becomes
reality, it is still uncertain who will
claim the throne in Germany. Up to this
point, the two groups have never been
at their peaks of activity at the same
time, so it with much excitement we can
look at the future and development in
Germany.

It will be clean fair, but who will
claim the rights, is yet to tell.

CHROMANCE have made some attempts of
impact since we last met up with them.
The releasing silence, with Hungarian
roots has indeed changed a great deal.
Members that didn't quite appear in
public before, made sure to do so, and
with that, the anonymity of the group
somewhat faded a bit.

However, they haven't yet showed the
abilities to compete with the absolute
top today, but they still maintain a
steady amount of releases, in their own

traditional way.

Much talked about groupjumper SPLATTER-
HEAD has gained an important position
within the group. Today, the hungarian
names we would usually connect with
CHROMANCE face the dullest of times
having to join the army. MR.WAX and
JAZZY D, CHROMANCEmembers by blood and
heart dressed in uniform will most
definately not have much affect on the
group, but it is always sad seeing un-
wanted happenings meaning decreased act-
ivity. SPLATTERHEAD, Dutch profile, who
experienced his greater breakthrough

through the launch of THE PULSE is now
leading the group into new frontiers.
Despite his reputation, there is no
doubt SPLATTERHEAD can maintain the
group and see to it provide it with
the usual amount of releases.

AT THE EDGE OF THE NIGHT

CHROMANCE is also one of the few groups
to boast a board, unfortunately not
gaining as much popularity as it should.
EDGE OF MIDNIGHT could without doubt
with the proper stunts achieved a much
more acclaimed and interesting pos-
ition in the digital underground.

The saga continues indeed. We've seen
an intensive scenario in the works re-
cently, and the Polish additions made
some time back, proved to be just as
valuable as expected. Today F4CG can
boast releases from both Poland and
elsewhere, a privilege that puts them
on the desirable Number One spot board-
wise in terms of releases.

It might be that the old forces really
are up to the job in the competition.

THE AMERICAN DISEASE

F4CG has like other various groups gone
through a series of problems boardwise.
The old board, TUNNEL OF WARES, a system
with historical roots was shamelessly
taken out of function, as ZIRCO, sysop
had problems with the harddrive.

DREAMPARK, the much awaited board, that
has been said to go up in the not to far
distant for AVANTGARDE has also been
rumoured to become a headquarter for
the entire F4CG. This is a concept that
would most definately benefit the board,
since it is under the circumstances
today fairly hard to support a system

being one group. However, we cannot for
sure rely on the fact that DREAMPARK
just MIGHT go up, and therefore there
are other ideas and plans in the works.

Almost a year has passed since we last
could hold a fresh, hot of the press
issue of the dominating papermagazine.
Sadly enough, the much expected release
at TRIBUTE (GENESIS*PROJECT+AVANTGARDE),
did not come through. However, progress
has been made, and a great deal of work
speaks for a release shortly after the
Denmark party, THE PARTY IV, only to
make sure to cover the event as well.

PIRATES is a welcome wind of creativity
that delivers a much appreciated cover-
age, scenewise. It is arguable whether
it has ever had any impact on covering
the news, while there is a great deal
of potential in editing reports, per-
forming debates, and probably most im-
portant of all, showing pictures of this
rather anonymous digital culture we
find ourselves in.

PICKING UP THE SPEED

F4CG has been one of the groups to take
a stand in the race of releasing. Today
we face a situation where only a a minor
part manage to keep up with the stan-

dars demanded. It has reached a point
where 2 or 3 groups rise above all
others, and in a way this is positive,
in a way it might be hazardous. However,
F4CG, a group that has remained fairly
slow the last 2 years, has proved the
fact that age has nothing do with
abilities. Today, F4CG stands as that
group above all, as a king of the
mountain, fairly hard to touch. It is
impressive and admirable, that a group
has managed to maintain for so long,
and still see to it to provide us with
most of the releases we see as of today.

What could be done, however, is a minor
look-in to the concept of public rela-
tions to support and function the im-

age that does such a great deal for a
group. Because despite the fact of
domination on the releasemarket, one
has to have a face to show, and that
might be where F4CG lacks.

F4CG has like AVANTGARDE entered the
anti-LEGEND movement, and provide their
intros with the wellknown "FUCK YOU
LEGEND"-finger animation, but it is
hardly of no value, as LEGEND'S only
active part today is JAZZCAT, and re-
leasewise they have to be considered
as long gone.

SENSATIONAL INTERESTING AND UNEXPECTED

One of the very unexpected happenings
this month took place just recently. As
of the release of PROPAGANDA 15, some
members from GENESIS*PROJECT have teamed
up with F4CG, adapting for the future,
and whatever it may bring. NEWSCOPY,
will see to it to provide the group
with releases, and already did so, an
effort that will appear shortly. WALKER
will function on the same basis as
NEWSCOPY, but also continue his swapping
activities, being one the finest in the
field. SCOPE, highly acclaimed and
appreciated painter, creator of the
PROPAGRAPHS, will provide the group with

stunning artwork, and the longpromised
slideshow will soon see light of day,
most probably coded by either HAIN or
SNEAPER. MOTLEY, notorious hacker with
a past that speaks of evil deeds will
continue his efforts in doing what he
does best, but also being a steady
Internet addict, F4CG will make sure
to focus further beyond the normal
boardmarket.

PROPAGANDA will of course still be re-
leased, though as an independent mag-
azine, with no groups whatsoever having
impact on its production. However, as
already seen, PROPAGANDA have been set
to a more regular basis, something that
will increase the reliability as an
enjoyable medium.

Though it might come as a minor shock
for some, this is indeed a move that
further strenghtens the potential of
F4CG. We can rely and count on a
pleasant and interesting source of
releases from a wide section of supp-
lies.

The concept of GENESIS*PROJECT, is to
regard as dead, but a complete text
concerning all the different members,
their future and the reasons for
the happening in itself will be dist-
ributed shortly and spread throughout
the globe.

I happen to find myself among those who
consider it sad seeing old groups that
proved major impact on us way back, just
vanish into thin air without as much as
a word.

TALENT have done some brave, but sadly
enough unsuccessful attempts to take on
the world again. Still, however, they
do have one of the best running boards
in the United States, being DOWN BY LAW.
The board does not depend on TALENT,
however, but on itself and its callers.

BOD, one of the oldest profiles we used
to have on our boards has completely
vanished, but has recently been spotted
on Internet, where he's been exploring
a new world, with the PC. MAJESTY, who
was a public-relationstund himself, has
also seen to it not to appear where all
others do. RAMIREZ, who might have turn-
ed to become quite a decent supplier,
just ended up joining HARDCORE, a group
we thought wouldn't make much noise
after their tragical entrance on the
scene a while back. Question now is,
where will TALENT go from here? Stepping
back into action or into thin air?

SUCCESS+THE RULING COMPANY was one of
the most admirable efforts once the
cooperation was announced, and I spoke
both highly and warmly of the unity,
at that time.

Unfortunately some things do not last
forever, and let us just hope it is a
temporary decline that we face, since
the activity has somewhat faded a slight
bit. Knowing the talents behind the
people of this merge, it is with the
greatest desire I pray the leading
Dutch force will increase activities.
