covered the top groups with a lot of
material, while the ones with less im-
pact get less space. Next to the name
of every group, there will be a face,
marking what the future for the group

When ILLUSION died, many of us saw a
deep gap. There was an empty space, in
the support of cracking and contributing
to the scene that urged to be filled.

Rumours were spread widely about what
happened, but one name kept popping up
late 1993. AVANTGARDE was born, eager
to compete with the decreasing core of
groups left on top. As most groups seem
to lack abilities to struggle on, or at
least stay on top, AVANTGARDE seems to

be a winning concept. Indeed they are
the new breed, fast and furious, quickly
clutching for the number one spot.

They had a fabulous start with their
fullprice firstrelease (PAL) in December
and have since ridden on high horses.

In a way, I'm very pleased about the
merge of AVANTGARDE. I'm glad to see
FREESTYLE, who was so unfairly treated
by the end of the ILLUSION days, getting
his revenge with yet a successful move
at stake. I'm pleased people like DEFF
and JACK DANIELS, who announced their

retirement over a year back, are among
the conspirating powers within its core.
I'm pleased that RICHIE who seemed lost
at the end of ILLUSION seems to have
gained new interest, breathing fresh
air over the dull UK market.

When HOK finally left TRSI for the group
I was positive things could go no
further, him not only being a talented
cracker, but a personality with a lot
of impact on today's scene.

Then out of nowhere, though rumours had
started to circulate on the scene, Deff

and his fellow members dare announcing
the return of two incredibly essential
systems, but who dares wins! THE FORUM
and TERMINAL OBSESSION go back up again
and with them, America's most popular
fixer returns, namely PUDWERX in a
shocking comeback (MAYHEM IN MONSTER-
LAND FIX)

At current time, AVANTGARDE are facing
a steady set of releases and it seems
they intend to do so. They are nothing
but fresh air to the scene, and have
proved a group still can be as effective
as the ones long lost in history.

Worth a word or two is PETER known
for the MAMBA has joined in after
a long time of absense. Still, MAMBA
will not hit the boards again, though
I presume there is a lot of people
sitting with that wish. Sigh..

A group that may have seemed inactive
during 1993 has in fact gone through
a serious phase of expansion. Not only
has the group expanded memberwise, but
SOLAR, belgian leader seems to be back
on the cards, putting them back to the
boards where they do sincerly belong.

At the notorius RADWAR party in January
SOLAR finally published the highly

awaited issue. Spreading only 5O issues
was a clever move, considering the in-
creased demand. Not only did it prove
that PIRATES is still the most popular
papermagazine around, but it left us
of with the fact that F4CG was back on
the prowl eager to perform something.

HAIN AND MAJA LEAVE TALENT!

Not only did they manage to reinforce
one of the most valuable crackers of
all time on the 64, being ANTITRACK
from LEGEND, but recently HAIN and
MAJA left TALENT to enter as well.
With Poland being an expanding country
this must be regarded as valuable.

ANTITRACK proved so much joy for the
event he even announced he'd continue
with F4CG as they were going to the
SNES, though not leaving the 64 at
any stake.

Questions have appeared how come people
from effective groups like LEGEND and
TALENT have come to leave for a group
that has remained fairly inactive the
past 16 months. Truth is, we know
LEGEND have passed their glory days,
not depending on anything else but the
decline of fullprice, Brittish games,
and as for TALENT, organization was
coming to a turn where things got out
of hand.

Poland, being a valuable market for the
piracy of the 64 has made sure F4CG will
surrvive, with a lot of releases at
hand. At this point, the faces of the
8-bitters are turning towards Poland,
and as they do, F4CG will be grinning
triumphantly as they snag their re-
leases. Poland is the future, and for-
tunately some people have been wise
enough to realize that.

It is also worth a word or two, that
this highly interesting group intend
to hit the SNES any day now. Wonder
if it will be as successful? I do pray.

Holland has always produced a lot of
talented groups and the country has
made sure to leave some names on the
list of historical figures. Both
SUCCESS and THE RULING COMPANY re-
presented their country, but at this
point I think it is fair to say, they
had done their share in terms of
gaining power. Both groups were running
at a reasonable pace, not really
thriving either forwards or back-
wards so to speak.

What we saw a while back, was two
talented forces merging, in classic
cooperationstyle. It is probably one
of the wisest moves in the scene, con-
sidering the increasing competition
at the very top. Not only have Holland
managed yet again to come up with a
classy competitor, but what we might
have at our hands might very well be
the future number one. So far they have
performed very well in terms of re-
leasing and have proved a highly res-
pectable competitor.

In my eyes, it seems both groups are

happy the way it has turned out, and
whereas the future is concerned I'm
positive it will continue to thrive.

SUCCESS have not really had a board up
for the job since DIVINE ULTIMATUM went
down a while back, a board they shared
with GP. TRC on their behalf, have been
fairly well put with VIRTUAL REALITY,
now long gone. As the cooperation de-
clared an entirely new system, many
were positive about a new eliteboard
finding its way thru the digital
underground, and recently, REBELLION
has been put up on a tollfree number,

a 1-8OO number, making it free for all
the yanks, which most probably will
make it the most popular board of the
scene in the not too far distant.

It is surprising, however, that the
veteran TSS left the group, at a point
that would be the most successful.

Active and talented people like BURGLAR,
CBA and organizational skills like
ACTION JACKSON will see to it this
cooperation will be a winning concept,
and as it is, I grin.

The past few weeks, some minor problems
have occured whereas the releases are
concerned. "Lemmings", long awaited 16-
bit conversion was firstreleased by TRC
+SCS and fixed by BOOZE/EMPIRE, while
others claim it was firstreleased by
ALPHAFLIGHT. ALPHA FLIGHT also claim
TRC+SCS have stolen codes/passwords in
their version, but that is not yet
proved. Also some other games have
been put out 'simultaneously', as with
"Dark Caves" along with AVANTGARDE.
It is, however, not proved who actually
got the firstrelease, but still not
considered a major problem either.

When MOTIV8 appeared as a natural
project out of the detested EPIC, I
know many people laughed, and many still
do. Still, MOTIV8 has grabbed a firm
grip around a lot of the people around
them, keeping a rather steady base of
releases coming our way on the boards.

Fact is, one cannot still freeze out
this group, as powers so strong work
for them to stay. It may very well be,
some members have a somewhat dirty past
but lately they have proved competitive.

TRICKET joined along on the project,
taking his DOMINIC with him, being the
current European number one board, with
incredible support.

MOTIV8 also has a hand in the pro-
duction of THE PULSE giving them a lot
of impact in terms of what is written.
It is clear, that they use this unique
facility as well, but then again, who
wouldn't?

Some intresting profiles also came
along, from VISION (CURLIN & RACOON)
and people from the old DOMINATORS.

MOTIV8 still has a lot of nasty tounges
speaking their peace of mind about the
group, and what they seem to face, is
the same thing EPIC did. To receive
respect and dignity, MOTIV8 will have
to work, probably harder than others,
to earn what they basically deserve.

Because as far as getting hold of re-
leases is concerned, it does not seem
to be too much of a problem. Deep with-
in, I think they know, and deep within
I think they will make a serious
attempt to maintain, and do you know
what? Somehow I think they will.

So is the old Brittish force up for the
job? Questions around TALENT are many,
as they have gone through a lot of
wicked phases lately.

Some people tend to say the once so
strong group has seen better days,
some say the organization is actually
so weak at this point that any major
results from the group would seem
impossible and some simply lean back
wondering what will be the next event
from here to eternity.

As organization was more and more taken
over by MAJESTY, he managed to reinforce
HAIN and MAJA, and at that point it
seemed TALENT would come to dominate
the market again, with some pretty
fine releases at stake. However, as
these two investments came to leave for
F4CG, results from TALENT have been
somewhat shy.

Lately, BOD has been seen more fre-
quently on the PC-boards and not on
the 64 boards, whereas MAJESTY has
totally vanished from the surface
of earth. MAJESTY comments BOD'S weak

support as him being a bored old vet-
eran having done his share. Interesting
is that COUNT ZERO and COMMUNIST, who
left TRSI for TALENT have been very
silent ever since.

It has been fairly quiet around GENESIS
through some months now, even though
they always frequently visit the boards,
but latley, they've showed intense
activities, not only by finally put-
ting out the much delayed PROPAGANDA.

As GENESIS got into the mailcracking
business again, two Dutch people were
added, being SPLATTERHEAD and LORD

CRUCIFIER. This, however, proved a
major mistake as the cards attracted
more than faith towards the group, and
they were thereby booted.

Lately, THE MINISTRY, a duo has been
responsible for the releases along
with LA STYLE, who has NOT left the
Commodore 64 as some magazine have
stated, even though he's keeping focus
of GENESIS on the consoles.

TWIST is a cracker of Danish nationality
who also has started providing his
talents for the group, and April 12th
it was clear that two more Danes will
come back in a cheerful reunion,
namely being SATAN and RAY, finally

leaving VISION behind them to fade
away for good. This ceremony has not
yet taken place, however, but we'll
keep you posted on the event.

Mid March, somebody was calling Swedish
boards using WALKER'S account and making
attempts to slag down at groups like
MOTIV8, FAIRLIGHT and TRIAD, putting
GENESIS in a rather sticky situation.

Same time later, somebody calls their
board, THE DUNGEON, logs on as JUCKE,
and crashes the entire board. A short
time later, somebody tries logging on

as SCOPE, though he did not even have
his modem at home at that time. Who
performed these evil deeds is yet
unknown, but time will tell.

There has been a lot of turbulence
around ALPHA FLIGHT lately. It started
out a while back with a lot of people
giving them a hard time for badly
cracked versions of their games, and
led up to a point where people were
asking a million questions about the
group.

Nobody really knows whatever happened.

Whereever you went, ALPHA FLIGHT showed
up, frequently doing a million releases
and for the first time somebody was ac-
tually giving competition to the now
dead RED SECTOR. Within months, the
people had disappeared from the boards
leaving a lot of us with unanswered
questions.

A lot of people left the group, blaming
it on the weak organizational core, and
JAZZCAT, lately very active Australian
hacker left for his fellows in LEGEND.

On top of all the questions, it appears
STING does not even own a 64 any more,
and still he is fixing for the group.

Then, out of nowhere, they appear with
one of the strongest releases ever,
basically being "Lemmings", still at
the same time as SCS+TRC, leaving us
as the judges whoever got it out first.

To be honest, I do not have a clue what
we can expect from the flight. Even
though putting out "Lemmings", it seems
they are having trouble finding ways
to call out, and mailwise they have
decreased to a minimum.

As far as I'm concerned, we are a
million people with a million questions
who would like to see a sign of life.

The Hungarianbased group have lately
proved rather weak. The loss of ROUGH
was fatal, considering his profile on
the boards, and as for losing MAJA and
HAIN a lot of the Polish releases were
lost.

Their latest firstrelease, "SantaClaus
Helper" was a rather desperate attempt
to maintain there, as the game had no
standard whatsoever. However, have
faith, CHROMANCE are known to always
maintain, no matter what.

As LUCIFER was busted, PHIBERCOM, the
CHROMANCE WHQ was taken down, and up
to this very day, not other board has
taken on the task of supporting the
group. MR.WAX has declared they are
looking for a board fitting their
purpose, but nothing is found yet.

TRSI
TRSI have fallen as a firstreleasing
force and will probably never return.
However, CRISP is doing a marvellous
job doing quality cracks. The reason
for the fall, is of course PSYCHOBILLY
leaving and taking important profiles
such as MISTER PRESIDENT and TERMO
with him.

________________________________________
LEGEND
LEGEND have not only released a game
on the boards, but have in fact re-

forced two new members. As it appears
now, POWERPLANT, WESTBAM, XXX, REBEL,
SKATER, FLETCH, DOC, ATMOS, TYREE
and JAZZCAT are in, and promises about
old people coming back have been made.
LEGEND is currently fighting with
everybody in AVANTGARDE, but actually
the fight is getting nowhere..
It has been told that "Hyperspace
Warrior", put out on a full version
was an Australian fullpricer, but
now rumour has it in fact is just
an ordinary public domain game. If
that is the case, LEGEND have indeed
lowered their standards, in terms of
releasing, but on the other hand,
JAZZCAT has been speaking of LEGEND
putting out "Flimbo's Quest II" by

SYSTEM 3 in the not too far distant,
so I figure time will tell whether
the future of the group is positive
or not.

SUNDANCER from MOTIV8 has quit the
Commodore 64 illegal market. He will
concentrate on creating game graphics
under his own label on the PC and 64.
