s..ok, my real name is tom, i live
in a little town close to
rotterdam. i just turned 18, my
height is about 1.95 m, and my
weight is about 75 kg.
(ed. 6 feet 6", ca. 165 lbs in
american measurements)
i have a job! but still go to
school, when everything goes as
planned i'll be done with it in
3 years, and i can call myself
an electrician.

>..give us a short summary about
your career !

s..well, the first real group i was
in was called 'delight', there
i met mirage (called slash at
that time), later i joined drive
together with some friends, and
after they died, we joined sphinx,
after they died, i joined culture,
(together with mirage and chrizz)
where i had a great time. however,
krs#1 and me had some
disagreements and i decided to
leave together with

zarhan fastfire and mirage. the
problems bewteen me and krs#1
have currently been solved, and
i'm glad they did, because he is
the one that got me into the
modem-scene. then i joined censor
where i had many friends since
we shared a board together, so it
was just logical i joined them.
my abilities (i hope syndicate
reads this) well, a little bit of
everything (as long as i don't
have to think!) i first started
doing graphics, and that is what
is still do, then i import every

thing that comes out because i
can earn money with it. too bad
the american games are really
rare these days. then i'm one of
the main editors of shock paper-
and disc-magazine,and i mailtrade
when i have the time to.

>..what is your opinion about the
present scene ?

s..well, i like the scene like it is,
because i only got my modem one
year ago, i can not compare it to
former times, so i couldn't tell

whether is is better or worse than
before.

>..why did you choose the handle
'skater' ?

s..i chose my handle when i first
started, i played skate or die and
i use to street skate a bit. so i
took my handle and never changed
it, because i still kinda like it.

>..did you ever have any kind of
trouble with the cops ?

s..well yeah, once the cops were
searching for me and some friends,
for throwing in windows, and i got
fines because of doing things on
the streets i should have done;
never because of computing because
the dutch police is kinda sleeping

i do have problems with the post,
but i couldn't care less, because
it's not me who is cheating the
stamps (hi psycho!)

>..what do you think about americans
compared to europeans; why are you
bothering with americans ?

s..well i can get along with
europeans better than with
americans, meaning i got friends
with an european faster than with
an american, because most of them
just want games anyway, eventhough
there are a few exceptions
(illusionist, nei, prodigy, mr
brownstone, tbb and some more!)
i still have my c64 because i
enjoy the modem scene, else i'd
have thrown it away a long ago.

>..do you sometimes regret the time
spent on computing ?

s..nope i never regret the time spent
on it. i think i never will,
unless i get caught for anything
(that has to do with computing)

>..your favourites ?!

s..food : dutch fastfood
hobbies : watching movies and
sports,and playing a bit
of everything (soccer,
basketball, tennis etc)

movie : all the schwarzenegger-
movies
music : from kfl to nwa
book : i hate reading
c64 game: giana sisters
amiga : super cars ii

>..which do you think is the best
group now/ever ?

s..as far as i remember i have always
respected 8and still do) ikari,
and nec in america.

>..how do you think/plan is your life
going to look like ?

s..well i hope i don't have to go to
the army, get my driving licence
as fast as possible, finish school
without failing, and get a job,
a wife, and earn some money, for
all the years i have been in
school.

>..talking about your magazine, how
far have your expectations been
met, concerning the efforts put
into it, the outcome and the
critiques ?

s..well, it was a total shock to me
that shock got that much attention
and positive critiques, we never
expected it to be such a big
success in such a short time,
eventhough we knew it had
potential.

>..why do you think did shock achieve
so much success in such a short
time in the public's opinion ?

s..well i think becaus people got
sick of magazines saying 'we beat
mamba', eventhough they didn't get

close. i think shock is close to
mamba, and that is why people like
it.

>..compare shock to other magazines,
where do you think is shock
lacking, where are its strong
sides ?

s..shock is about the american modem/
board scene mostly, shock is
lacking when it comes to the demo-
scene, but we hadn't planned to
make i like that. but maybe in the
future (move your ass, lars haha)

>..how do you think is the worlds'
future going to look like ?

s..if i would know, it wouldn't be
worth living it. i don't want to
know.

>..you are the new king of the world,
what is your first official act ?

s..well i would scratch iraq from the
map. and give myself everything i
ever wanted.

>..imagine the netherlands wouldn't
exist, which country would you
have preferred being born in ?

s..when it wouldn't exist i think i
would like to be born in florida
(because of all the things i heard
about it, from a certain american)

>..if you would have to leave censor
for some reason, what would you
do ?

s..i wouldn't join another group,
because that isn't worth the time

anymore, i think i would do it
like excell, or just quit.

s..okay, i want to say hi to...
all in censor, illusionist,
prodigy, all x-culture members
(especially druid & krs#1) all in
nei, most of enigma, (get marcus
back) (ed. good idea, but how ???)
tbb, bod and fletch of i+t, most
in victims, mr brownstone, gene+
ninja/dom, gotcha, excell, path-
finder, and all the numerous cool

about your person !

i..well, my name is andre, all the
little computer nerds call me
andy. (ed. hye andyyyyy!!!)
i am 6ft 2in and weigh 180 pounds.
(ed. 185 cm; ca. 81 kg for euros)
i play whatever sport that is in
season, except for baseball (yuk!)
and soccer! i like going out and
having a good time like most of
the guys in the scene. like to
live it up whenever i can...

>..in which groups have you been so
far, describe your career in brief

i..welp, since i started i have been
in a variety of lame groups,
grudually getting better and
better. like for example, i was in
groups like csi, image and some
others. then i tried my own group,
energy, released a few games, and
stopped. quit for a few months and
picked up some new ideas and found
myself playing slave. then i
joined inc, and random. then there
were some european groups like

drive which freddy krueger got me
into. but again it never lasted
too long, and oh, how can i forget
destiny... all were not very
lengthy stays, but on the other
hand, i got to meet some very cool
guys like phantasm, asterix,
stormbringer, and my man pudwerx.

>..what is/was your job, what are
your abilities ?

s..i work at a scuba shop called
force e... basically my job is to
fill the air tanks for the happy

divers that i hope don't make it
back for a refill. it's a fun job
considering the fringe benefits.
scuba diving is a great experience
that i think everybody should give
a try before they drop dead.

my abilities ? well, i can do
almost everything that isn't
impossible... ressurection and
flight were some of my most
difficult abilities to learn, but
i got the hang of it.

>..what do you think about the
current scene and which do you
think are the best groups ?

i..well i think the current scene is
just as it was before... except
now there seems to be a more
competitive situation considering
that before empire rose, nei was
the only group that could success-
fully release a fixed game. but
again, there are still lots of
fuck ups. but that's the way the
cookie crumbles. the best groups ?
let's the shock charts decide that

>..you are one of the main-editors
of shock, why do you bother
producing the magazine ?

i..i don't think that what i am about
to say is too hard to understand,
but here goes... you say: "why do
you produce shock ?"
well,shock was put on disc because
there was something missing in the
other magazines. if mamba (the
only other real mag) had
everything a typical pirate wanted
then i see no reason in shock, but
since we (censor and i, and now

excell and gene) believe that
there was need for something to
fulfill everything a mag was meant
to be, then i wouldn't see any
reason for other mags, do you ?

it seems that the only person
who criticized shock in public was
roy, because victims dropped a few
places. and what i see from the
public, is a smile and
satisfaction for shock... it's the
ideal mag...

>..what are your best friends and
what your worst enemies in the
scene ?

i..best friends in the scene ?
geez, friends is a strict word,
but i have been around flatliner
(now insane) and skater for the
longest time now...
and then recently , i have gotten
aquainted with psycho and prodigy.
all these guys are fucking cool as
shit, easy to get along with and
they don't piss you off (yet!)
i would rather not spend time on

the phone with little children
that think calling overseas is a
god-given privilege, i don't like
little children that call you and
just sit there waiting for you to
ask them questions (after all,
they called me, right ?)...
i don't have any enemies...
after all, you can't beat the shit
out of anyone over the phone. so
it's pretty worthless.

>..what do you do in your sparetime,
besides computing ?

i..right now, i'm just working like
every other day, kickin' back
and renting movies, and going out
on weekends...
in the near future, i plan on
going to junior college and the
works...

>..tell us, who do you think are the
real legends and why do you
appreciate these groups/persons ?

i..well, there are groups that have
made a significant effort to
become #1 and have successfully
done so at one time or another,
first it was i+t, then dominators,
and then it was legend. on the
yankee side it was exodus and nei
which have been around for a while
now...
it was only after exodus hit the
scene that things got better as
far as quality. then nei
strengthened that effort. it seems
that these 5 groups that i
mentioned have set the standards

for others to follow and so far,
they have beem followed step by
step.

>..tell us some of your favourites ?

i..my favourite food : lasagne

music : everything but country,
classic and that yazz shit
movie : total recall, t2
woman : rachael hunter (my bitch)
board : the forum

>..is there anything left you want
to say in public ?

i..i'd like to say wassups to all the
shock staff (we rule!), my buds
skater and psycho and prodigy.
the despiser for his help on
getting the wares faster on my
board than lighting (thanks a
million, matt!) pudwerx and
