welcome to the second edition of this
thing called assimilate. hope you liked
last times assimilate. some people must
have done it as i got some reactions on
it. GOSSARD/TEMPEST wanted to support me
and that's fun but so far not a sign
from him. too bad!

well, what can we give you this time?
as usual the reviews and some news. you
can also find an article about FRONT 242
in a separate chapter. enjoy!

AND ONE

DRIVING WITH MY DARLING

it didn't bother me too much that it
rained the day i got my hands on
AND ONE's new single "driving with my
darling", because by the time i had it
on the stereo, i had forgotten all about
the cold and rainy autumn climate.
instead i felt like driving down a
german highway along with AND ONE and
their darlings on a sunday trip.

AND ONE has become softer and that is
something you'll notice directly. on the
other hand that is something that fits
me. "driving with my darling" has
everything to make it a good hit. and
you who has endlessly waited for WHEN
THE FEET HURTS, i can tell that it is
included on the second track. KLAUS, the
fourth track is a tricky thing that
sounds like an old german folk song.
when klaus has become silent you just
have to wait some seconds..... and then
i belive all old body fans will get what
they want.

the only thing there is to complain
about is the wrapping. i have seen
better covers!

ILDFROST

AUTUMN DEPARTURE

the first thing that hit me when i saw
this record was how soft and beautiful
the cover was. the frontside of the cd
is one of the nicer i've got. not just
showing some text like others often do.

beautiful would be the right word to
explain this music. those familiar to it
would call it dark ambient.

here we'll find elf-maids and we'll
watch her majesty's awakening. in a
forgotten world far away from todays
high-tech society. in a world where the
forests where deep and dark.

ildfrost is from norway and they are
the first non-swedish band on COLD MEAT
INDUSTRY. and hopefully this is the
first step towards a better future for
cmi with more good groups.

if you are tired of all internet and
cd-rom crap everybody is talking about,
ildfrost is the best way to forget it.
just switch off the light, put on autum
departure, lie down and dream away. you
never want it to end. it won't either,
not for the following 53 minuts.

ASTRO GIRL

i don't think spock can make a bigger
hit than NEVER THRUST A KLINGON. astro
girl is a good try but never thrust a
klingon is too good.

the story itself is quite good. a girl,
young and innocent which is trying
everything for some satisfaction. but
she falls and starts to work at a sleazy
place.

astro girl is available in two versions
one with astro girl + the androids are
here, an old mr.data tune. i've got the
limited digi pack. here you'll get astro
girl in 5 versions, some more or less
good. but also mr.spock's brain recorded
unplugged for m/tv (mars tv!). that tune
is really cool.

after all, astro girl is not a bad
tune. it can surely become a big hit.
this is analouge music from the future!

EVOLVER

after the big hits with both texas
cowboys and swamp thing i really thought
it was time to buy this record. after
i've heard rollercoaster and later the
techno-opera tune golden dawn i couldn't
wait any more. i had to buy it!

dave ball once a member in SOFT CELL
together with marc almond is back again.
who will ever forget their TAINTED LOVE?
this music is far away from the days
with soft cell.

if someone thought this was a cd with
just country-techno, then you're wrong.
the only tunes with such style is just
texas cowboys and swamp thing. but to
compare this with the usual euro dance
on radio is wrong. grid has a style of
their own which i hope they will keep.

call it techno, rave or trance, it
doesn't matter. you can dance to it! and
you will!

THE COUNTLESS GALAXIES

someone might remember that i reviewed
the single astraia last time. synthpop?
yes, that's true.

the album is not different. the same
sort of synthpop is presented here, lots
of cool noises. some of the tunes are
slower like cp 1919 and prodigal sun,
which is about the day the sun explodes.

i reflected upon the texts quite much.
they are not only about trips in space,
but also about trips inside your body.
feels quite strange.

the last tune called nebulae scene is a
15 minuits long trip into the countless
galaxies. ALBERT EINSTEIN is right,
"imagination is more important than
knowledge"!

SPOCK will release their new album
ALIEN WORLDS on february 28th. the new
single "astro girl" is already released
as noted above.

the compilation from energy record with
new, romantic tunes, has got a name. it
will be called "to cut a long story
short" after the SPANDAU BALLET tune
with the same name. it will be released
in february and some of the bands taking
part are spock, page, elegant machinery,
psyche, blue for two & cultivated bimbo.

THE MOBILE HOMES have finally released
the ELEKTRIC MUSIC produced single "turn
off the silence". meanwhile the remix
album "meanwhile" was released. the new
album will be called "sports olympics"
and will come later.

CAT RAPES DOG's new album
"biodegradable" will come in february.
the new single "there's no evil" should
have been released around x-mas. a new
live guitarist have joined in.

SKINNY PUPPY left their old record
company nettwerk to release the new
album on american recordings. but after
endless delays they went back to
nettwerk. the new album is said to be
out in february. the group's whole
backcatalouge will be released in 1995!

AND ONE will have two releases in the
near future. first "deutschmaschine"
from the german version of ist. then
there's some planes of a mini album.

FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY will probably make
a european tour in march. :-)

the legendary TECHNO CLUB in frankfurt
celebrated their 10th aniversary in
december with many theme nights. on one
of them called "electro class-x" they
got DAF to play live for the first time
in several years!

some romours are going around that NINE
INCH NAIL's trent renzor is toghether
with kurt cobains widow courtney love!
