New page

editorial
-----------
written by iopop

welcome to the very last issue of
jamaica. more delayed then ever. over 3
months to be exact. but what the heck,
better late then never! some of you
might have some questions like; why a
LAST jamaica? why this bloody long
delay? am i drunk or plain lazy?

well, some of you might know it
already. everything begins at the
tribute. i got asked by dane & rave/3ad
if i wanted to join triad. i said that i
wanted some time to think over the
situation. this offer was something that
only exsited in my dreams. triad always
been some kind of gods to me. so i
joined. but not only because of that i
actually felt like i wanted a change.

i had already discussed with rave wath
could happen with jamaica if i joined.
and he said that i ofcourse could keep
on releasing it. but as jamaica always
been and always will be a jam magazine.
the name of this mag should make you
think about jam, so releasing jamaica
under triad would not be any god idea.
i made the decision to make a last
jamaica. as PHARAO (bungalow) wanted to
release it at tribute i had some ideas
in stock. so i said that i could release
the last issue in middle december.

but something came between, something
called LOVE and the opposite sex. sounds
pathetic but it's the truth. today that
girl is gone. but that month together
with that girl made me very unactive. i
didn't use the computer too many hours.
when she disapeared i just lost interest
in everything. but when i realised that
my depressions against life, was because
i hadn't released the promised last
issue of jamaica i thought it was better
to finnish it, before i commited suicide
or anything unhealthy like that. :-)

but what will happen now? what will i
do when i don't need to make new issues
of jamaica. well, we will finally
release ARISE! and why i choosed arise
instead of jamaica is because i ain't
alone making arise like i was with this
mag. just check out all the chapters
the only thing i didn't do was the
interview's. the rest is done by me.

after all i think i would have come to
this situation even if i didn't join
triad. well, i maybe made a 13th issue
of jamaica. but not anything more.

so now i want you all to REMOVE
jamacia from all the charts. as jamaica
IS dead! and i dare to say it. this is
the last issue.

well, i got some reactions from some
people who heard that i should stop
produce jamaica. for example i got a
letter today from GIGABYTE/no name. he
said that i would regret stopping
jamaica and wanted me to think about it
again. i have thought about it again and
again.

another reaction i got is from
CHAOTIC/accept/atlantis. who said;
stopping swapping without telling it 2
da contacts suck!

to be correct i have not stopped
swapping, yet. so i got abit surprised
about it. but i will stop. and ofcourse
i would tell it to all my contacts.
otherwise i would be stupid, as i still
want to be a part of the scene.

NTI/entropy/avantgarde have written
alot of nice words about jamaica in last
issues of THE TRIBUNE. for example
jamaica being the new NETWORK and that
we always were giving the scene a solid
issue. when you read such things you
imagine how much far up i actually must
have reached with this project, which i
started just to get more contacts in an
easy way. but there is one thing the
tribune staff must have got wrong. they
wrote that jamaica still was solid even
after TABASCO left for fairlight. first
i have to say that tabasco just wrote
one text for jamaica as jam member. the
second thing is that the last issues
when tabasco was in flt has been alot
better if you compere those released
when tabasco was a jam member....

better tell the credits for this
issue:

code by iopop
logo by DANE/triad
fonts by pharao & french flair

music 1 by THE SYNDROM/crest
music 2 by FANTA/plush
music 3 by CUBEHEAD/chaos

so, now i'm sitting here behind my
compter and writing the last editroial
for the last jamaica. somehow it feels
quite sad. but remember that nothing
last forever and we must move on.

i still remember the day i got the
idea to make a mag. it was in march 1992
soon 3 years ago. goosh, i didn't know
much about the scene then! i wanted to
make a magazine for swappers, and at
that time i didn't even swap! the only
thing that counted was the computer. i
remeber that each weekend was the same.
me sitting infront of this computer.
sometimes i feel like i missed alot of
things which my friends made. but they
don't know what i have learn infront of
my computer. but that's how it's going
to be. you can't eat the cake and then
save it!

but why care about that, 2070 i'll
propably be dead and gone. if i'm lucky
some of our children's children will
find our old computers at a musem and
maybe they smile abit when they see what
we have done and what we wanted to
change.

we all live in a dream so why not

wake up and change the reality!
