New page

<pre>interview bungalow
----------------------------------------
boozoo guys! here's almighty bungalow,
who's back with another interview for
your entertainment!

this time we're going to talk to a
member of the well know swedish group
CENSOR. our victim is GEGGIN.
let's cut this crap and start with the
interview, then. i hope you like it...

? bungalow
! geggin

? tell us some info about yourself!

! my name is peter and i live in
gothenburg, on the west-coast of
sweden. i'm 21 years old and have been
into computers since i was about 9.

? when did you buy your first c64 and
who were your first friends on this
machine?

! the first machine i got was an abc80
in the early beginning of the 80's.
i thereafter bought a vic20 and in 84'
i bought a c64. i bought an amiga 500
in '88 and a snes+magicom in '92.
the first people i got to know were
local guys whom i traded games with
(ahhh, i only got a tape-recorder in
the beginning).

? how did you get your handle?

GEGGIN was a nickname my best friend's
big brother used to call me when i was
about 9-10 years old. it really means
nothing and i never really understood
why he called me that. he has
explained to me that it was because
one of his friends was called BEGGIN,
but what i had to do with that guy,
who knows?

? please tell us something about your
"c64 career"!

! the first "real" group i was in was a
group called PENTAGON with some local
friends like an ex. member from
technorats, if anyone remember them(?)
before that i had started alot of
weird groups which never turned out to
be anything special. PENTAGON however
had some releases like "io" (with an
in-game trainer menu!) but after a
while i left them for another local
group called ALIENS. ALIENS released
some demos on the c64, but then the
group turned over to the amiga and i
joined TRONIX at the ikari+zargon
party in slagelse/denmark. TRONIX
later splitted up and the "left-overs"
formed MOCEAN which never released
more than 1-2 demos. i knew the guys
from CENSOR even when they were still
in TRIAD, and we met alot of times at
different parties (both big and small
ones). at a party by LIGHT in
bålsta/sweden we got really drunk
together and they asked me if i wanted
to join CENSOR, just 'cause we were
such good friends and not because they
really "needed" me in the group or
anything. CENSOR was thrown out of the
party 'cause of several reasons (read:
BOOZE!) and i never really joined. we
met again, as always, at a party in
denmark and then i joined for real.
i have been in CENSOR since, and i
will NEVER leave, 'cause we are all
very good friends. it has actually
turned out to be so, that we are a
bunch of good friends who just happens
to have a group together.

? what made you quit the c64 scene and
go snes?

! well, it were several reasons.
i wanted to fullfill my old "boy"
dream of being a game maker/producer/
developer, and since the c64 market
slowly decreased i thought that the
consoles (snes &amp; sega) were cool
options. when i got my hands on the
snes &amp; sega megadrive manual i decided
to put away my c64 for a while, to
learn how to code the snes, while
psycho learned how to code the sega.
(SNES means: "super nintendo enter-
ainment system). in october '92 we
released the first intros for snes and
sega, and we got more and more into
the snes and sega scene.

? what are the biggest differences
between the c64 and snes scene?

! the SIZE! the snes scene is much
smaller, with only 5-10 major groups
(maybe 3-5 groups that can really
code). it is too much like the amiga
scene, where all that seems to matter
is the game-flow, and the speed of
the releasing groups (amount of
trainers etc.).

? what equipment do you need to get
started on the snes (scene) ?

! you need a snes and some kind of
copiers around like magicom, wildcard,
pro fighter, mgh etc, etc...
if you plan on buying one, i'd advise
you to wait a couple of weeks, 'cause
a new upgrade of the wildcard
(wildcard 2!) is soon to be released.
it's supposed to be much better than
the ones available today and it will
come in a "plus" version with an at
or scsi port (i don't remember which).
a copier can simply be explained as a
"programmable" cartridge, which you
insert in the snes cartridge port. on
it is also is a parallell port for
communication with a computer. it also
has a diskdrive, so what you do is
that you either load a file from disk
or transfer a file from the computer
to the copier, and then the file runs,
as if it was an own seperate
cartrige. that means that you also
need a cable and a "send" program for
the computer, but that's no problem.
if you want to code you also need
some kind of snes-assembler for your
computer. if you use an amiga, there
is a BRILLIANT assembler called SASM
available. the program is a shareware,
and a pirated version of it is hard to
get since all major snes coders want
to support the author of the sasm.
therefore, do as me and the rest of
the snes coders who use amigas, get
your own registred version by sending
50$ to:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!

also, if want to code, the snes
hardware manual could be nice to have!

? can you tell us something about the
snes scene in brief? which are the
ruling groups and so on?

! some of the ruling groups are CENSOR,
ANTHROX,PARADOX,PREMIERE,ELITENDO etc,
but there are a lot of other cool
dudes around. i don't want to list
them all up here, 'cause it changes
from week to week. the group illusion
has started to come with a few
releases, maybe they are something for
the future? the scene is unfortunately
much to like the amiga scene:
COMPETITION!

? do you think the snes scene will live
for a long time and that lots of c64
and amiga guys will go snes in the
future?

! hmm, hard question. no, i doubt that
the snes scene will ever be so big as
the amiga &amp; c64 scene, but there will
be people around as long as the games
keep on coming. i hope more c64 coders
will discover the snes 'cause it is a
bit similar to code as the c64, and
maybe one day a complete demo scene
will exist on the snes.

? what is your function in censor?

! i code snes and kinda organize things
on the console side of censor. me and
psycho started up censor/console and
we are pretty much into organizing
the things in there. sure, i trade a
bit, and maybe train a game or two now
and then, etc, etc...

? as most of you know, censor is making
the SH0CK mag on snes. are there lots
of other mags in the snes scene?

! nope, there was a mag called CONSOLE
WORLD for a while but it is no more.
also, just some days ago the first
issue of a mag called SNES TRAINER
CHARTS was released but i personally
think that it was pure shit. SH0CK,
however, has been massivly delayed
from time to time, but it was
THE FIRST mag on the snes and in many
people's opinion it's the best, hehe!

? will we see any more c64 products from
censor?

! hehehe... well,dunno... we once said
that wonderland 9 would be the end!
then in wonderland 10 we said:
"now it's definately the end". and
spasmolytic? hehe, well... i must
honestly say that i do not know if we
will make another c64 demo.
spasmolytic was made in about 1 month,
just to try a few effects out and to
put something together for the party
in denmark. (GOSH, IT TOOK CAMELOT
ABOUT A YEAR TO COMPLETE THEIR DEMO
FOR THE HERNING PARTY!!! ED.)
maybe, on a rainy day someone will put
a part together..? who knows..?

? what are the future plans of censor?

! plans? who need plans? we live each
day as it comes... the more you plan,
the more can fuck up.

? what are YOUR future plans? both on
the scene and in real life!

! i want to start up an own software
company here in sweden someday, and
produce games on the console, but this
is FAR in the future. now i just want
to enjoy the summer with friends,
girls and booze... just try to live as
easy as possible before it's too late.
(sob, am i growing old?)

? what do yo do apart from computing?

! everything that is fun!! i LOVE to
party with my friends, go to local
clubs, meet/kiss/fuck girls, listen to
music, ski... the list is endless. i
do not have a job at the moment.

? do you like to go to compo parties and
which is the coolest party you've been
to?

! i like parties VERY much because you
get the chance to meet people that you
normal have no chance to meet.
the coolest one i have ever been to
was the upfront christmas party in
denmark 1990, i think. i met alot of
cool guys, and had a real blast at the
local pubs.

? here comes a very original one...

GEGGIN'S FAVIES

food: pizza
drink: beer
color: bloodred
girl: blond &amp; horny
country: sweden
music: all kinda hardcore(YEAH! ED.)
book: neuromancer
movie: all kinda horror/splatter
sport: hackers don't sport!!!
group: censor
coder: ME! hehe
artist: dragon
composer:rob hubbard

? what is the most disgusting thing in
the world?

! girls, who don't clean their pussies
well enough. YUK!
no, seriously i have no big complains.

? have you got a girlfriend and if, what
does she think about your computer
activities?

! i broke up with my latest girlfriend
in good time for the summer holidays,
but her opinion about computers was
that she hated it. i have had girls
before who have thought it was
interesting though. a good advise is
NOT to spend so much time with the
computer if you got a girl. who needs
the scene more than a girl? also,
an advantage is that since i'm in the
snes scene i have tons and tons of
snes games, and all girls i know like
to play snes every now and then.
(hey baby? wanna use my joystick?)

? have you got any last words?

! last words? it is VERY nice to see
that there are still plenty of
activity on the c64! who would have
thought that in the early 80's ?
keep it up all guys, 'cause you and me
both know: THERE WILL NEVER BE A
"COOLER" MACHINE THAN THE C64! EVER!

phew! greetings..... i will simply
say that i want to send a big greet to
all those people i have met since i
started with computers. the list is
endless, i have really been lucky
enough to get to know alot of guys.

? thank you very much for this nice
interview, geggin! i wish you good
luck in your future projects on the
snes!

that's it! another chapter is
finished... see you in the next issue
of jamaica!

if you want to get interviewed in
jamaica, don't hesitate, just write me
a letter...

BUNGALOW of JAM

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
</pre>
