USA Scene

The contents of this chapter lie with the American scene, its people, releases and boards. Next issue an American will take over this chapter, which I think will make this chapter more accurate. Firstly some news...

AMERICAN NEWS:

* Zirco/F4CG left this group to remain legal, after some unsuccessful attempts at getting the old "Tunnel of Wares" online again, but only in UC-BBS mode. Later he joined Storm as a musician and then decided to rejoin F4CG. Maybe soon TOW will be back up?

* Grego/Motiv8 after successfully getting "In Living Color" online again went into an inactive period. But again is active in the way of calling out.

* Chameleon started a return to board painting with some spectacular prompts and pics for "Dream Park" because of his ties and good friendship with AVT, he joined in. (Ed: Marcellus hurry up with that pic! 8)

* Eliminator decided to return to the group scene and serve as Hack/Phreaker and Internet source for Onslaught, but he later decided to stay in Avantgarde, his last service to date was the routing of the 1800 number to "Dream Park". After a while the Amiga caught the interest of him and he left the scene for a short time of two weeks. But later rejoined the scene, but only solo.

* Nomad joined Onslaught as supplier and modem trade but two months later decided to take a break from the scene so is put on the inactive list.

* Cyborg from "Dream Park" decided to join both AVT and F4CG and rumours say also he may soon fix (!).

* Deathlok got back into the group thing and left Padua for Onslaught, but a month later joined F4CG, but with all three groups he has been inactive. (ED: Hey butch the logos??!)

* Shadow and Mutant-X are planning to restart the old group Avatar with a BBS.

* Mizar/Ex-G*P/Ex-Empire joined Motiv8 and took his board "Intertrade" as the Motiv8 WHQ, also his H/P capabilities (?) enabled the Danish based group to call out more regular to the USA. Unfortunately Mizar got busted after about 5 weeks in the group for phone fraud related crimes.

* Hightower joined Accept and renamed to Soul keeper, also his Canadian board "Divine Intervention" became the Accept World Head Quarter.

* Moloch/F4CG left due to responsibilities of the games label, Threshold Productions. But also serves under the handle "Skyclad" in case some never knew.

* Sphere/UD decided to join Chromance, but due to the lack of activity left them for Onslaught. He also calls under the handle Insomniak.

* Empire have posted on quite a few occasions that Extremist will soon return to the fixing scene and bring a board online as well. But it has been quite sometime since this was said.

* Massive Onslaught/Ex-Armaggedon is fixing quite actively for Style and has done some intro fixing for Onslaught & Hardcore also.

* Rumours say that the Suicide/AVT is indeed Pudwerx under the handle. But this is probably false.

AMERICAN BOARD NEWS:

Some weird things have happened lately in the American board section, let's take a look...

* Edge of Midnight will soon go back online for either Chromance or Hardcore & Onslaught. It will have some cool specs with: 1.2 GB of harddrive space for C64 only. 9MB ramlink and available 14.4K connections. Running on a different styled Omni 128 program.

* The Evil Island goes offline due to lack of support and callers. Apparently though, it will go back up soon, so call it! 1-314/XXX-XXXX.

* Liquid Palace is part-time online again with the sysop being Sphere/[O+H]. It can be called from 10pm to 10am EST. 1-609/XXX-XXXX.

* Rumours say that AVT were going to share 'Divine Ultimatum' with Genesis Project. But due to G*P dying and DU still not online, AVT decided to share 'Dream Park' with F4CG.

* Morrisey/Talent left them for Onslaught and made Down by Law the Onslaught & Hardcore world HQ. Unfortunately some modem problems were experienced and it’s been off/on line regularly.

* Some fucked up lamer formatted The Dungeon twice, the board is back online with the old mod running. The 1800# went down finally to this board after a good nine months!

* Several demos have been released, by RPG, Storm and a few other groups.

* Some new boards should arrive soon and there is no new news on 'Terminal Obsession' going back online.

Comments:
Hope to see some more action in the American scene it’s a pity that NTSC fixing isn't taken seriously these days. But some old favourites might soon return.
Domination issue #4 Mail Chart

Welcome to the mail charts where I have collected the votes that YOU have given and compiled them into some sort of positional thing. Many beers fly out to the spreaders of the Domination votesheets, you guys are mentioned in 'Summary'. Its weird how charts vary in different magazines, some people complain on positions, whilst others argue with why a particular group/scener/product is voted, in the end it all boils down to one thing, people just have different opinions. In this issue these opinions, are added to hopefully compile a 'fair' chart in everyone's opinion. I have also added my own comments after each category. Au Revoir.

Comments:
Avantgarde make it home with quality cracking from Jack Alien and Derbyshire Ram and some great spreading from their trader, Intruder. Success & TRC drop one spot from their throne; they have been quite dominating in the mail charts for quite sometime though.

A very inactive (mail-wise) Chromance stays at third from last month. While a huge jump from 11 to 4 is performed by F4CG, who have some brilliant crackers such as Sneaper, Hain and Antitrack. Alpha Flight dropped from 2 to 5, but should rise again by next issue with the nice cracking quality of The Ignorance. Excess seem to keep creeping forth, maybe some more first releases will help also. The new co-op, [O+H] makes a combined opening on nine. Whilst some oldies like FLT, Triad and Legend slip to allow some new entries.
Jack Alien takes over place #1 from Burglar with his cool mail versions. Hain does a surprise leap, considering his slowed down pace this shouldn't have happened, but look at this outfit! Derby Ram, a familiar in the charts rises from #7. An excellent cracker in the name of Bacchus/FLT rises to fifth position, its good to see the votes are starting to pan out to people that deserve them. Chrysagon is back in the top ten again, after quite a break, perhaps his group change sparked some activeness. Powerplant and Countzero fall many places, Countzero has done some nice mail and first release cracks lately, and he will rise in next issue for sure. The Ignorance finally gets into the top 15, an excellent, experienced cracker who deserves a top 5 status!
The top duo remains the same since last issue, but should fall places by next issue. Byterapers is rewarded by position #3 from #22, after their magnificent 'World Of Code' series, a deserved position. Fairlight for some reason rise, even though they haven't released anything for ages. Crest finally start to drop positions, but maybe will pick up as soon as their demo and music collection are released. Reflex enters the top and will rise very rapidly by next issue, with their brilliant trackmos. The old group Light manage to sneak in, for the first time in ages. Megastyle should be higher and so should Padua and maybe Byterapers. Wrath Designs should be in the top #10!!
TTS holds the number one spot, but for how long? Mr.Sex debuts at position #2 and is the highest new entry. Slammer rises one more place after his Tower Power effort. The mighty Crossbow naturally falls from place two due to inactivity, release wise. Axis & Graham from the Oxyron posse rise in the charts. The latter half consists of coders losing points because of inactivity or delay in their releases. Ed and Depeh should be higher, whereas TTS, Crossbow and Zodiac should not be as high. Where is the brilliant Quiss/Reflex, he should be in the top #5. Also Scroll/MSP, JFK/Triad and some Light members should rise soon.
Electric takes over the top position from Creeper, both are a little inactive. Joe stays steady on number three, whilst the Polish talent, Cruise/Taboo rises 1 position and will continue with the release of 'Ritual 2'. Fazee does a huge jump from number 20 to 6. Hein and Rob lose places, but activity should pick up with future group projects. Ans/Spirit wonders into the top after a break and RRR/Oxyron does a nice jump from position 12 to 7. Mainly because of his cool "intro" logos and full screen pics.. 8) Mirage and Ogami Should fall and Dane might rise, look at his nice artwork in the main menu!
The Syndrom makes it once again to the number one. Whilst PRI/Oxyron chases him from position 4 to 2 and is still rising. Deserved votes fly to Jeff/CML and he moves from position 5 to 3. Compod does a noticeable jump to position 6 from 18, due to a music collection and some nice game music. PVCF/Reflex debuts at number eight after his cool soundtracks for "Radio Napalm" and "Access Denied". Danko and Drax all many places, whilst JVD/Focus stays steady at position 15. PRI and Jeroen Tel should fall places due to inactivity and so should Red Devil of Fairlight. Morbid/SS should be far higher.
Comments:
Splatterhead steals first place along with Spermbird on position #2, both did spectacular jumps from positions #4 and #6 respectively. Maybe because they both spread Domination, huhhuh! 8) The mail king, Intruder, debuts at position #3 and will be a regular in these charts in the future. Calypso, D'ram and Nightshade all fall places after slips of activity and laziness.. or in some cases with people, the internet.. Dr.Kaos and Starlight move from positions 22 & 23 into the top #15. Bizarre, Acidchild and Vengeance deserve higher.
Comments:
Nitro & Skyhigh remain firm on their top 2 places. Vandalism News did a massive jump from position #14 to #3, very regular releasing. Revealed by IMN stays at #4, but will lose places due to regularity. Insider makes a debut at position #5, a great mag that will grow as more issues are released for sure. Propaganda does a nice move from #17, great editorial work, only a plan to regular release it will allow for further rising by next issue. Gamers Guide is included for the last time, as this original magazine died at issue #25, well done by the Triad team though for the strong work. Splash dropped many places, but they managed to put out another issue lately which will give them more votes for next issue. Shout should be higher. Because Domination is a independent magazine, this allows and group, magazine or production to be included in the charts, with the exception of myself and my own magazine.

Comments:
Comments:
Comments:

Comments:
Comments:
Comments:

Comments:
If you wish to place votes, email #128 on Down By law or send a standard votesheet or blankdisk to:
